Implementing of Green Building Policy: From Supervision to Self-Regulatory System

The implementation of green building policies has not shown problems of effectiveness and legal level and has not gained a good momentum socially as a social movement. The introduction of policies and program implementation through the involvement of various sectors and stakeholders is necessary. General understanding of green building and its policies and enforcement is still low, but in related sectors such as civil engineering and architecture professionals as well as planning consultants have adequate knowledge. This article aims to reveal the complexity of the problems and implementation of green building in Indonesia. This study uses a normative juridical method, with a conceptual approach and field data as support. The results show that an effective way to promote, implement and monitor green building policies is to utilize a self-regulatory mechanism, a system that delegates green building regulatory to professional groups in the fields of civil engineering, architecture and contractor associations

Implementation of Civil Rights against Vulnerable Groups in the Legal and Constitutional System in Indonesia

Constitutional Court is established as an effort to uphold the rule of law and provide maximum protection for democracy as well as human rights, particularly civil rights. The main purpose of the rule of law is to protect citizens' freedom from state power. Therefore, this study aims to examine the implementation of civil rights against vulnerable groups in the Indonesian legal and constitutional system. Data were analyzed using a normative juridical approach by examining theories, concepts, legal principles, and statutory regulations obtained from legal sources such as books, articles/writings, and other documents. The government issued various laws and regulations with multiple conventions such as the rights of the child and the elimination of all forms of discrimination but this effort has not been supported by a strong shared commitment. Based on these circumstances, it is necessary to develop an effective law enforcement mechanism to protect citizens' rights, particularly vulnerable groups

Navigating the Hidden Politics of Water Resource Bureaucracies in Indonesia: Mapping Issue-Elements and Alliances

Water resource politics are often overlooked for jurisdictional perspectives, or difficult to comprehend for the politics unfolding behind the scenes. Using Indonesia as a case study, we synthesized all water-related bureaucracies to generate a list of “Water resource Issue-Elements,†which served as a framework for translating actor-centered power dynamics. The data is based on policies reviewed from 2014 to 2017, coinciding with the beginning of a new presidential administration with heightened interests in water resource management. The study found that while the central coordinating and planning bureaucracies wield the strongest network power, two sectoral bureaucracies hold tremendous influence in guiding water resource management, which unfold under conditions of highly fragmented politics. On the one hand, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry influences water resources through its land management mandate and seeks to enlarge its bureaucratic power beyond state forest boundaries through the concept of watersheds. On the other hand, The Ministry of Public Works and Housing maintains its traditional mandate for managing river basins, wielding large budgets and networks to control information and determine project-related disbursements. As these two bureaucracies shape alliances administering water resources, their delegating responsibilities also refract to regional bureaucracies, shaping a new set of subnational contestations

Utilization of Smartphones in Experiments of Measurement of Electron-Mass Charge Ratio

In this work, the strength of the magnetic field produced by a Helmholtz coil was measured using a magnetic sensor on a smartphone and the Kelmscott Gauss meter app. The e/m ratio measurement is a well-known experiment in the physics curriculum. We demonstrate that the strength of the magnetic fields involved may be accurately measured by cell phones. In an electron diffraction experiment, the diameter of a circular ring can theoretically be determined using the same method. Our findings indicate that reliable measurements of the charge-to-mass ratio of electrons can be achieved using cell phone cameras and image processing software. When teaching contemporary physics, smartphones and image analysis software trackers can be extremely helpful resources

The objective of this study is to assess the impact of Current Ratio, Debt to Equity Ratio, and Total Asset Turnover on Return on Investment (RoI), while Stock Prices as intervening factors. The analysis focuses specifically on Manufacturing Companies within the Consumer Goods sector that are listed on the IDX. This research is quantitative research with a descriptive analysis approach. The data collected were analyzed with formulas from each financial ratio and then processed using multiple regression analysis and sobel tests. The results of this study indicate that CR is not significant on Stock Price, while DER is related to Stock Price with a negative effect. Finally, TATO has a significant impact on Stock Price, with a positive sign on the relationship. Stock Price, CR and TATO have positive and significant effect on ROI, while DER have negative and significant effect on ROI, CR through stock price has no effect on ROI, while DER and TATO through share price affects ROI in Manufacturing Companies in the Goods Sector Consumption listed on the IDX

The Guardian of Constitution: A Comparative Perspective of Indonesia and Cambodia

A democratic state may be indicated by the existence of a constitutional institution that has the competence to uphold constitutionalism and defend the constitution. As the guardian of the constitution, the Constitutional Council of the Kingdom of Cambodia (Constitutional Council) and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (Constitutional Court) have the same purpose, namely to uphold constitutionalism and protect the constitution. However, in terms of structure, procedures, and competencies, the Constitutional Council and the Constitutional Court have individual mechanisms. Institutionally, the two judicial bodies occupy different characteristics, but they share the common goal of safeguarding the constitution’s core values. This paper aims to analyze and scrutinize different features of the Constitutional Council and the Constitutional Court by showing the same purpose as the guardian of the constitution. Within this paper, the legal outcomes which is decisions are discussed, particularly the effect of the decisions. In addition, this paper looks into who can be the applicant or can file a complaint and clarifies the qualifications and resignations of judges. This paper concludes on whether the Constitutional Court and the Constitutional Council have different paths in upholding constitutionalism and protecting the constitution

Identification of Andesite Rock Distribution Using Resistivity Geoelectric Method in Tapalang Area of Mamuju District West Sulawesi Province

Volcanoes make Indonesia have andesite rock reserves in several areas, including this research area carried out in Labuang Rano Village, West Tapalang District, Mamuju Regency. The geological complex of ancient volcanoes of the Adang Formation includes the morphology of hills from the eruption. The research aims to identify the subsurface layers of the earth using geoelectricity. The geoelectric method used in this research is the resistivity method with Wenner schlumberger configuration. With a stretch of track area of 320 meters each. The data obtained as apparent resistivity values are then processed in Res2Dinv Demo, producing an inversion cross-section. The results of the XYZC variable interpretation in Voxler Demo display andesite rocks at different depths from each track ranging from depths between 15-45 meters with resistivity values of 100-200 Ωm. The first layer is sandstone and clay resistivity <100 Ωm, the second layer is andesite rock resistivity of 100-200 Ωm, and the base layer is tuff resistivity of 20-100. Based on the type of layer, it is identified that the rock layer in this area is andesite rock

Tourism Sector and Regional Income Relationship in Sinjai

Several previous studies have revealed that the tourism sector is positively related to regional income (pendapatan asli daerah). Even though the selected research location still does not have tourism potential, the relationship between these two variables is important to discuss to find tourism potential in Sinjai Regency. This research uses quantitative analysis with the ErrorCorrection Model (ECM) approach, which shows that all variables have fulfilled the stationarity test, long-term cointegration, Error-Correction Term (ECT) and the classical assumption test (Boedijoewono, 2012), which is the time data-series from 2012 to 2021 is used to include proxies for the number of tourists, number of hotels and other accommodation, level of infrastructure, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDRP) in the tourism sector (trade, hotel and restaurant, entertainment and recreation sectors) and Original Regional Income in Sinjai Regency. The results of this research reveal that in the short term, changes in PAD are influenced simultaneously and partially by changes in the number of tourists, the length of roads in good condition, and Tourism GRDP. However, changes in PAD are not influenced by changes in the number of hotels. On the other hand, every change in the number of tourists and the length of road conditions will have an influence on changes both simultaneously and partially in PAD. Finally, the number of hotels and tourism GRDP do not have a significant influence on PAD

Legal Status of Cryptocurrency Circulation in Iraq: Lessons from the United Arab Emirates and the United States

The philosophical emergence of cryptocurrencies is a consequence of the desire to get rid of the authorities’ control of the monetary system, which encouraged people to deal with it for investment or to facilitate the fulfilment of their financial obligations. The research problem is represented through the lack of legislation that regulates dealing with cryptocurrencies in Iraq. There are many technical, legal, and security risks for the use and circulation of cryptocurrency, which must be legally addressed and suitable solutions found. Therefore, this article aims to examine and analyse the legal status of cryptocurrencies in selected jurisdictions through multiple stages, from prohibition to licensing and regulation. This article adopted a qualitative approach to analyse the legal status of cryptocurrency in the selected jurisdictions. The study finding shows that the Iraqi authorities do not have the technical or legal means to prevent the illegal use of cryptocurrencies. In addition, there is a large legislative gap with the developed countries, and lawmakers need to regulate cryptocurrencies by enacting laws to protect people from falling victim to fraud
