The Meaning of Project-Based Learning among B’Laan High School Students: A Phenomenological Study
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to investigate the realites behind the Project-Based Learning in the perspective of Blaan High School students, their coping mechanisms to address the the challenges in the project-based learning, and their insights that were shared to their peers and to the academe in general. This qualitative phenomenological study was participated by 17 students from Pongoleel Integrated School in the Division of Sarangani for School Year 2015-2016. There were in-depth interview and focused group discussions conducted. The result of the interview generated themes that were transcribed, translated, coded, and described. As regards to the meaning of project-based learning, the themes that were generated were as follows: offshoot of learning, grade augmentation, added financial burden and time demand. While for the coping mechanism of students, the themes that were generated: prioritization, resourcefulness and creativity, teamwork and collaboration, parental support, industry and perseverance. As to their insights, the themes included: give it ample time, give it considerate effort, make it affordable, make it relevant and give distinct guidelines
Building a Research Model and Hypotheses Development for Internal Audit Consulting: Insights from Literature and Findings of Exploratory Interviews
This study identifies two main variables and one moderating variable that have an influence on the consulting role of internal auditors and the impact on a firm’s growth opportunities and performance and specifies how each of them can exert its influence. This study is based on a literature review, underlying theory that is stewardship theory and findings of exploratory interviews by the present researcher; and contributes to the literature by developing a specific and structured research model. Firstly, it explains the development of hypotheses based on the literature and findings of exploratory interviews. It presents a detailed review of the variables influencing the internal audit consulting in which it gives an impact on the firm’s growth as well as the performance. Finally, the theoretical linkages between each relationship in the framework of this study are presented in this study.
Triggers to Word of Mouth and Revisit Intention to Chinese Food Restaurant
The purpose of this study is to probe the differences between the main triggers to revisit intention (RI) and word of mouth (WOM) intention of the Chinese Restaurants´ consumers. The research method is quantitative; 525 consumers were surveyed in Tijuana. Ten indicators of the consumer behavioural intention were included to carried out multiple linear regressions. It was found that empathy, food taste and physical environment are related to both, but with different levels of importance and effect. Nevertheless, price ratio, and time to receive the food have a statistically relationship with RI and food aroma and time to receive the restaurant bill are significant just to the WOM
The Moderating Effect of Time Management on the Relationship between Quality of Work Life and Personal Effectiveness of Junior High School Teachers in Davao Region
The ultimate aim of this study was to determine the moderating effect of time management on the relationship between quality of work life and personal effectiveness of junior high school teachers in Davao Region. Adapted survey questionnaires were given to a sample of 400 teachers from public junior high schools in the region. Findings revealed that the levels of quality of work life, personal effectiveness and time management are high. Further, findings revealed that quality of work life is significantly related to personal effectiveness. Time management also showed a positive significant relationship to personal effectiveness. To determine the moderating effect of time management, a logistic hierarchical regression was employed in this study. Results revealed that time management has no significant moderating effect on the relationship between quality of work life and personal effectiveness. Teachers who have higher and lower levels of time management demonstrated the same degree of personal effectiveness as influenced by quality of work life. Educational Cost Effectiveness through the Contribution of Teacher’s Competency and Learning Media Costs Perspective
The focus of this study on the effectiveness of education costs is specifically limited to the contribution of education costs to the quality of learning outcomes through improving teacher competencies and providing learning media. The problem is limited to the financing of teacher competencies and Mathematics learning media in high schools in the city of Bandung in the academic year 2011 - 2014. The method used is quantitative analytical descriptive with data collection techniques using, interviews, observations and questionnaires based on ratio / numerical scale. The population of this study were all senior high school principals in the city of Bandung. Sampling by using purposive sampling, the number of research samples determined as respondents as many as 27 schools. Data analysis techniques using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression. Data processing using the SPSS program.21. The results of the study show: (1) the contribution of financing to increase the competence of mathematics teachers towards the quality of learning outcomes is 0.275 in the medium category. (2) the contribution of financing for learning media to the quality of learning outcomes is 0.562 with a weak category. (3) Simultaneously the contribution of teacher competency financing and the cost of learning media is 0.576 with the medium category
Potential Global Competitiveness of Sri Lankan Virgin Coconut Oil Industry
The study focuses on Sri Lankan virgin coconut oil industry because of it is one of the upcoming export products and also its position as one of the key player in the global market. Sri Lankan coconut industry is one of the major foreign exchange and employment generation source and element of the Sri Lankan nation. The study attempted to unearth the determinants of export competitiveness of virgin coconut oil industry in Sri Lanka by drawing attention on Porter’s theory of the competitive advantage of nations. The target population of the study consisted with individual firms which are engaging in virgin coconut oil export in Sri Lanka is two hundred and nineteen. The study used a likert scale to measure the chosen variables. Based on the Pearson Correlation analysis researcher can say that there is significance strong positive relationship between Availability of Raw materials, Quality of demand and Market share of export with the Export Competitiveness. According to regression analysis researcher can say that availability of Raw materials, Local market, Quality of demand and Market share of export has significance positive affect on Advantage of Export Competitiveness
Brand placements in Films and Television: An effective marketing communication strategy to influence customers
There is a growing trend of brand or product placements in films and television shows globally, as well as in Pakistan (Aijaz, 2016; Balakrishnan, Shuaib, Dousin, & Permarupan, 2012). The aim of thisstudy is to explore the impact of brand placement strategies in film and television as a communication strategy from a viewpoint of Pakistani market.Surveys are conducted and questionnaires were distributed online among a sample of Pakistanis belonging to different income levels. Brand Placement Acceptance (BPA) is taken as independent variable, and its influence is tested on three dependent variables: Brand Loyalty (BL), Intention to Purchase (IP) and Attitude towards Brand (ATB). The results indicate that BPA has significant influence on BL, IP and ATB separately, and it can be used as an effective marketing tool to influence customers in a hyper competitive marketing landscape.This research concludes that brand placement has significantly favorable acceptance in Pakistani market
Tax avoidance : A Policy of a Company
This research has purpose to find out the effect of leverage, return on asset, size of a company, institutional ownership, fiscal disadvantage compensation, multinational company, diversification company toward Tax avoidance of real estate enterprise enlisted in Indonesia stock exchange (BEI). The population consists of real estate enterprises with number 48 enterprises and are enlisted in BEI since 2012-2016 with number 22 enterprises selected using purposive sampling. The findings of hypothesis testing show: return on asset influencing negatively toward Tax avoidance. Leverage, size of company, institutional ownership, fiscal disadvantage compensation, multinational company, and diversification of company do not influence toward Tax avoidance
Effect of Dividend Policies on Firm Value: Evidence from quoted firms in Nigeria
This study examines the possible effects of dividend policy on firm value. The study covers 10 quoted companies studied for the period of 1995-2015. In so doing, the methodology adopted is the ordinary least square regression analysis for primary data analyses and multiple regression analysis for the secondary data analyses with models MPS (Market Price Per Share) as dependent variable, EPS (Earnings Per Share) and DPS (Dividend Per Share) as independent variables. The co-efficient of determination is R2 to evaluate the data collected from the ten studied companies and the Nigerian stock exchange. The study shows the relevance of dividend, dividend as a signaling model and proves that firm value is greatly influenced by dividend policy as far as public limited companies are concerned
