    The Factors that cause the dropout rate in Zimbabwean Urban Secondary Schools and Remedies

    The major purpose of this study was to investigate the factors which cause student dropout in a selected urban secondary school located in Bulawayo Metropolitan Province. The study was informed by the post-positivist and constructivist paradigms, utilising a combination of quantitative and qualitative data in a mixed method approach. Data was collected using closed-ended questionnaires, document analysis and semi-structured interview protocols. Sources of data, methodology and theories were triangulated to authenticate the data gathered. Respondents and interviewees/key informants were systematically and purposively sampled respectively. The main themes centred on the concept of student dropout, its causes and remedies. The study, therefore, unearthed that participants were conscious of the concept, the student/family, community and school level factors which cause it. The latter, though minimum threatened the internal efficiency of the Zimbabwean education system. An inclusive, holistic and relevant curriculum meant to cater for the diversified needs of the students was proposed

    The Detection of Cases of Violations of Economic Competition and Modern Program of their Settlement

    The paper addresses the issues of detection of cases of violations of economic competition by various undertakings (enterprises) such as the prohibited agreements, abuse of dominant position or other discriminatory practices, more efficient treatment in courts of such cases and easier resolution of initiated cases. Besides the national laws governing the protection and development of unfair competition from anticompetitive practices, market regulators, in particular national authorities for protection of competition tend to find easier methods of detecting violators of the market rules. Among the programs that apply in the EU two are the most important: the leniency program and the program of the settlements. Also during analyses and easier detection of cases there are two economic indicators which alerts for possible violation of competition. The paper treats the functioning of these programs and other indicators implemented by the national authorities of competition

    Corporate Social Responsibilities and Firm Performance: A Comparative study of Banking and Non-Bank Sector in Nigeria

    The objective this study is to ascertain the relationship between CSR and performance. The study   compared what is obtainable in the Nigerian banking sector and the Nigerian manufacturing sector. Ten firms were selected, five each from the aforementioned sectors. Ordinary least square statistical technique was employed for the study .Result shows that CSR has significant impact on the performance of both firms in the manufacturing and the banking sector. The study also reveals that manufacturing companies expend more on CRS activities than bank. The study recommended that statutory bodies should mandate banks to go beyond donation and look at other areas of CSR. It further recommended that managements of the two sectors should take advantage of CSR in order to enhance   their corporate performanc

    Effect of Corporate Reputation on the Performance of the selected Commercial Bank in Enugu State, Nigeria

    The purpose of this study focuses on the effect of corporate reputation on the performance of the selected Commercial Bank in Enugu State, Nigeria.  Specifically the study aimed to pursue the following objectives: to determine the effect of quality product on customer satisfaction in Commercial Bank in Enugu State Nigeria, to ascertain the nature of the relationship between good working condition and productivity of Commercial Bank in Enugu state Nigeria, to ascertain the extent to which social responsibility affect creativity and innovation in commercial Bank in Enugu state Nigeria. The study has a population size of 355, out of which a sample size of 188 was realized using Taro Yamane’s formula at 5% error to tolerance and 95% level of confidence. Instruments used for data collection were primary questionnaires and interview. The total numbers of 188 copies of the questionnaire were distributed while 177 copies were returned and 11 copies were not returned. Survey research design was adopted for the study. Three hypotheses were tested using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and simple linear regression tool. The findings indicated that quality product significantly affects productivity in selected Commercial Bank (r = 0.742, t =6. 541; F= 143.525; p< 0.05). There is a positive relationship between good working environment and productivity in selected Commercial Bank (r =. 955, P<.05). Social responsibility to a larger extent significantly affect creativity and innovation in selected Commercial Bank (r= 0.736; t= 14.362; F= 206.279; p < 0.05). The study concluded that a corporate reputation is a tool used by firms to attract the best employees, raise capital effectively, become a good community member, or gain and retain loyal customers. The study recommends that organizations should ensure that their product are of good quality that will serve as a competitive tool to win the market, retain the new customer and that will enhance productivity and increase profitability

    Attributes and Characteristics that Stimulate Innovation Leader's Creativity

    Today organizations face a scarcity of innovation leaders. Innovation leaders are successful because of the attributes and characteristics they possess. Characteristics and attributes of three innovation leaders -Thomas A. Edison, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg has been highlighted in this project. These innovation leaders are termed as highly creative and innovative. The author conducted a review of many international publications related to innovation leader. Some of the attributes of an innovation leader that were found in the research are - possessing strong leadership, must be visionary, must act as change agent so that employees are able to change their process and system for the betterment, must be a good sales person to sell ideas to the people, must be a good listener to understand others requirements, must be a logical thinker to make decisions, must be a good team-builder, must be even-keeled demeanour to act in an unbiased manner, must be passionate about new ideas and concept, and must be optimistic. It has also been found and widely acknowledged that innovation leaders play a critical role in organization's success. 

    Does Abusive Supervision Influence Organizational Citizenship Behavior? Testing the Mediation Effects of Organizational Cynicism

    This study determines whether abusive supervision can influence the level of organizational citizenship behavior in the mediating role of psychological contract violation and organizational cynicism. A survey conducted from 391 respondents from different service sector organizations of the Pakistan. Specifically, CFA and SEM tests performed to analyze the data. The analysis of their responses supported our model which describes that abusive supervision has an adverse effect on organizational citizenship behavior either directly or indirectly. The mediating role of psychological contract violation and organizational cynicism proved to be significant. Both mediators negatively correlated with organizational citizenship behavior. Implementations mentioned for managers and researchers, and limitations identified

    The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the best practices and the financial performance among 86 manufacturing small and medium enterprises in Cameroon. To achieve this objective, we will carry out a Multivariate Analysis; and the results based on correlation analysis highlight a positive and significant impact of risk culture on financial performance of these enterprises and also show that the independence of the board of directors by itself is not sufficient to increase the firm’s performance

    India has topped with largest consumers of gold, next to china in the world. Indians prefer buying gold in the form of jewellery and coins rather than bullion. So, central government has come up with three gold schemes namely GOLD MONETISATION SCHEME, SOVEREIGN GOLD BOND and INDIAN GOLD COIN. The main motive of these schemes is to reduce the requirements of gold through imports. About 20000 tonnes of gold are idle with Indian households, temples, etc which is not being traded or monetized in the form of jewellery. This study attempts to scrutinize the three gold schemes in detail with pros & cons and people awareness towards such schemes particularly in Vellore District , Tamilnadu 

    The development of Saudi Arabian Entrepreneurship and Knowledge society

    The current knowledge society has become a major factor in the distinction between countries, as many of them have sought to focus on knowledge and information; considering it the main resource. This study aims to identify the subject of the entrepreneurship's development in Saudi Arabia and contributes to the attainment of the knowledge society. We used the analytical descriptive approach and the questionnaire tool. The study population was represented by the Ministry of Economy and Planning officials in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the study’s sample consisted of 80 subjects, among which 60 were valid for analysis. We found that the impact on Saudi Arabia entrepreneurship, project participation and execution are reliant on support and encouragement of the concept itself while the level of education significantly influences the likelihood of project success.
