Work Life Imbalance and Psychosocial Tribulations among Working Women
With the changing scenario, there is vast increase in the number of working women.Women are competent enough to contribute for the betterment of any of the organisation. They are sharp, intelligent, empathetic, flexible and with energy to work hard for the both fronts i. e. office as well the home. They are with dual responsibility to manage multiple tasks at home and at the work. The increasing expectations at both ends make the situation difficult for women , as a result they face difficulty in maintaining a required balance between work and life. This lack of balance results in further problems for working women. Because of work overload, career aspirations, competition, peer pressure at workplace and child care, elder care, relationship maintenance, other household responsibilities at home, it becomes very difficult for females to contribute to the maximum at both ends. And because of this imbalance, females remain with some guilt and stress, as a result came across with many psychosocial tribulations, that may affect their performance as well as health also. This paper examined the concept of work life balance and how women juggle for multiple tasks and as a result face work life imbalance. And paper also revealed that working women with dual roles suffer from psychosocial problems and different strategies have also been discussed which can be of help to working women in maintaining a balance between work and life
Relationship between Cultural Orientation and Strategy Implementation in Water Service Providers in Western Kenya
Strategy implementation is viewed as an integral component of the strategic management process that turns formulated strategies into actionable activities. The purpose of this study was to evaluate how cultural orientation, specifically market-oriented culture, related to strategy implementation in water service providers in Western Kenya. The study was guided by the organizational culture theory. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The study population consisted of employees working with Vihiga, Kakamega County and Busia water companies. The study employed a census design and obtained 70 respondents as the unit of analysis. A structured questionnaire was used in data collection. The questionnaire was pilot tested prior to its use in collection of data for the main study. The collected data were analyzed with the help of Statistical Package for Social Sciences programme. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed. The study results were presented in form of tables. The study concluded that corporate culture is very important in determining the success of water companies. Market-oriented culture (t = 29.592; p< 0.05was found to be of paramount importance in enhancing strategy implementation in water companies. The study recommended that management of water companies should ensure that the culture embraced by the WSPs does not result in resistance from employees and other stakeholders; so as to ensure that the execution of organizational strategies is not curtailed
The Influence of Quality Leadership and Quality Commitment to Performance of Higher Education Institution
The aim of this study is, to reveal the influence of quality leadership and quality commitment on the performance of higher education organizations. The sample in this study consisted of academic community (educators and education staff) from 44 study programs in 5 state higher education institutions in the Province of Bangka Belitung Islands. The results showed that, there was a positive significant influence on quality leadership on organizational performance. In addition, there is a positive significant influence too on staff quality commitment to organizational performance through quality leadership. Hotel chains entering the Macedonian market
Hotel industry is characterized as one of the oldest, diverse, innovative, and important industries around the world. Given the low entry barriers for global markets, it is also highly attractive, and its greatest growth happens on international level. Hotel chains are the leaders in hotel industry using franchise, managerial contract, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and joint venture, as an expansion strategies. The main goal of this article is to evaluate the entry and presence of international hotel chains on the Macedonian market, their contribution and effect. Even though young, the hotel market in Macedonia is with stable potential for growth and development, and with low entry barriers.
Effect of Market Orientation, Organization Creativity and Management Knowledge of Innovation and Impact on Competitive Advantages
Manufacturing industry sector as one of an important sector in national economic development. Manufacturing industry sector is one of the supporters of the national economy because this sector contributes significantly to the economic growth of Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the influence of market orientation, organizational creativity and management knowledge on innovation and its impact on competitive advantage in manufacturing industry in Indonesia. Populations and samples conducted in manufacturing industries located in Bekasi with a total sample of 186 manufacturing industries. This research is explanatory with sampling purposive sampling technique and analysis used quantitative analysis by using AMOS 22. Principal Procurement Policy Analysis in Achieving School Management Excellence
This research of principal procurement policy focuses on organizing Principal Leadership Preparation Program (in Bahasa Indonesia is abbreviated as PPCKS) activities with participants coming from public elementary school teachers and state junior high school teachers. The research method is qualitative using case study approach with purposeful sampling. The implementation strategy of data collection through validity test, followed by triangulation of data in the form of interview, documentation study and observation. Data analysis used is data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results of this study illustrate that: 1) the issue of education policy in the school principal procurement sometimes raises the dualism of interests normatively and politically; 2) the implementation of school principal procurement policy through PPCKS shown that it seems the committee from Educational Office element only role in the recruitment only, beyond that all controlled by LPPKS and Educational Office only did the monitoring; 3) most principals do not have PPCKS follow-up programs. Each principal should have a program and strategy in preparing candidates for the principal to be able to produce an effective principal
Customer- Care: Is it really impactful on Service Organizations?
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of customer care on the profitability of service firms in the Banking Sector in Ghana.Design/Methodology: The study adopted a mixed method approach to establish whether or not customer care program has had any impact on the operations of service organizations; where the moment of truth encounter is highly evident. An interview guide and a questionnaire were used to interview the bank manager and the customer relationship officer of Bongo Rural Bank Ltd and administered the questions on two hundred and fifty (250) customers including eight (8) employees of the bank. The books of the bank were also examined to assess the number of people who had benefited from the bank’s loan scheme.Findings: The study found that the bank was doing an excellent work since almost all the customers were satisfied with the services of the bank; and the attitudes of its employees. The satisfied customers recommended the bank to others and hence increased the customer base and profitability.Research Limitation: The research was limited to Bongo Rural Bank Ltd. Though the study was limited to the bank, the findings are applicable to all service financial institutions and non financial institutions in Ghana since the needs of the bank’s customers and the customers of other banks are homogeneous.Practical Implications: The employees and other important stakeholders of banks think that customer care is the sole responsibility of the marketing department rather than all members of the entire organization. The present study encourages all organizational members to systematically think of the customer in their respective area of service since customers can call on anyone of the firm at anytime.Originality/Value: The current empirical study makes an original contribution to the extant literature by adding knowledge of customer care in the context of service organizations, where the moment of truth is highly evident
The Influence of Leverage and Liquidity at Profitability with Investment Opportunity Set (IOS) as Intervening Variable- A Case study at manufacturing companies listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange in period 2013-2016
The research aimed at knowing the influence of leverage and liquidity toward profitability with IOS as the intervening variable. The research samples were 71 companies listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange in period 2013-2016. Hypotheses testing by using structural equation model (SEM). Analysis results found that: Liquidity did not influence toward IOS. Leverage did not influence to the profitability. IOS influences positively toward profitability. Leverage influence positively toward IOS. Liquidity influence positively toward to the profitability
Population Pyramid And Economic Growth: An Econometric analysis of Sri Lanka
Economists are torn between basically three schools of thoughts where the first theory states that the population growth will stimulate the economic growth of a country and other believes that the population growth will bring detrimental or adverse impact to the economic growth. Not only that, but there is another school of thought, which believes that the population growth is a neutral factor in economic growth. Given this diverse of opinions, through this study it is expected to established a firm relationship between the population growth and the economic growth of Sri Lanka. This study developed an econometric model using time series data from 1980 to 2015 and tested the relationship not only the GDP of Sri Lanka, but other significant variables of an economy such as Domestic Savings, Private consumption and Total Investment as well. The results of this study indicate absence of a long term relationship between the population growth and the GDP of Sri Lanka and there will be no any relationship between the other selected variables and the population growth of Sri Lanka. The Granger Causality Analysis found out a unidirectional relationship between the GDP and the population growth, running from population growth to GDP. The study concludes that in Sri Lankan context, the population growth will not have any significant impact on the economic growth
