Presupposition in the Character of Judy: A Pragmatic Analysis of the Zootopia Movie Script
Background: A well-grounded and accurate assumption helps in selecting appropriate lexical variations before expressing a statement in communication. Movies serve as an effective medium for this purpose, as they reflect real-life situations. In pragmatics, presuppositions allow listeners to recognize implied meanings and better understand communicative intentions.
Aims: This study examines the use of presuppositions in the Zootopia movie script by applying George Yule’s (1996) theory of presupposition. It aims to identify the types of presuppositions expressed in the dialogue, analyze the educational character values demonstrated by the main character, and interpret the meanings conveyed through presuppositions in the movie script.
Methods: The study employed a qualitative content analysis design. The data were collected from the dialogues of the main character in the Zootopia movie script.
Results: A total of 106 presuppositional instances were identified. Existential and factual presuppositions were the most frequently occurring types. Additionally, five educational character values were found: (1) peacemaker, (2) curiosity, (3) discipline, (4) responsibility, and (5) hard work.
Implication: The interpretation of presuppositions allows audiences to gain deeper insights into the underlying meanings of the dialogue. Through movie scripts, viewers can not only engage with the storyline and character development but also grasp the film’s core messages and objectives. Future research should extend beyond presuppositions to explore a broader range of linguistic phenomena
Uncovering the Investigator’s Assumptions in Sexual Violence Crime Investigative Interviews: A Forensic Linguistic Analysis
Background: The information supplied by a victim of sexual violence during an investigative interview frequently serves as the sole foundation for investigators in processing a sexual violence case. Nonetheless, the investigative interview process often lacks professionalism due to efforts to impose the investigator’s personal assumptions.
Aims: This research is a forensic language analysis intended to uncover the assumptions held by an investigator during an investigative interview with a child victim of sexual violence.
Methods: This study utilized qualitative data obtained from the investigative interview between an investigator and a child victim of sexual violence at a police station in Cilacap. Conversation data were collected using listening and note-taking techniques. The statistics were subsequently verified with the investigator to validate their legitimacy. This study employs the dialogic speech act theory technique proposed by Weigand (2010) to elucidate the assumptions held by the researcher.
Results: The findings of this study suggested that the investigator attempted to impose her personal assumptions on the victim through numerous exploratory speech acts designed to validate, offer options, and direct the victim’s responses.
Implications: The findings of this study may serve as a reference in assessing the specifics of inquiries within the Standard Operational Procedure on Examination and questioning techniques during the investigative interview procedure
Representatives and directives as core communicative acts: Evidence from illocutionary patterns in Masameer County animation
Background: Understanding speech acts in animation is important because misunderstandings can affect communication across cultures. The Masameer County animation, popular among Arabic speakers, contains dialogues with cultural meanings that need deeper study.Aims: This research aims to analyse the categories and functions of illocutionary speech acts in Masameer County\u27s animated dialogue.Methods: This research uses qualitative content analysis with some quantitative support, focusing on pragmatics. The Arabic dialogues and their Indonesian subtitles are transcribed and analysed to identify illocutionary speech acts. John Searle\u27s theory is applied to examine the categories and functions of these speech acts in the Masameer County episodes "Ice Cream" and "Washingtonia".Results: Out of 443 utterances, 269 were identified as illocutionary speech acts. Representatives predominated with 153 data, such as claiming and describing, followed by directives with 94 data, including commanding and requesting. Commissive (14 data) and expressive (8 data) appeared less frequently, with promising and regretting being the most common within these categories. Declarative speech acts were not found, indicating the narrative\u27s focus on personal interaction.Implications: The dominance of representatives and directive speech acts suggests that the communication style in Masameer County primarily revolves around the core functions of human interaction. This finding affirms the universal relevance of Searle\u27s theory of illocutionary speech acts in analysing animated media.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kategori dan fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi dalam dialog animasi Masameer County episode Ice Cream dan Washingtonia menggunakan teori John Searle. Pendekatan kuasi-kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini yang melibatkan transkripsi dialog Arab dan takarir Indonesianya, lalu dianalisis untuk mengidentifikasi tindak tutur ilokusi di dalamnya. Dari 443 dialog, 269 data merupakan tindak tutur ilokusi, yang didominasi kategori representatif sebanyak 153 data seperti claiming (mengklaim) dan describing (menggambarkan), serta direktif sebanyak 94 data seperti commanding (memerintah) dan requesting (meminta). Kategori komisif sebanyak 14 data dan ekspresif sebanyak 8 data muncul lebih sedikit, dengan berjanji dan menyesalkan sebagai yang terbanyak. Tindak tutur deklaratif tidak ditemukan, menunjukkan fokus cerita pada interaksi personal. Dominasi representatif dan direktif sejalan dengan penelitian sebelumnya, menegaskan relevansi teori Searle dalam komunikasi animasi. Penelitian ini dapat memperkaya linguistik terapan, memberikan wawasan bagi penerjemah, namun terbatas pada dua episode sehingga rekomendasi untuk studi mendatang adalah memperluas cakupan data agar hasil lebih komprehensif
Muatan HOTS Pada Latihan Soal Buku Bahasa Arab Madrasah Aliyah Kelas X Terbitan Quadra 2022
Background: In today’s era, where critical thinking and problem-solving are vital competencies, the integration of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) into educational resources, particularly textbooks, has become an important benchmark for quality learning.
Aims: This study aims to identify HOTS exercises in Arabic textbooks of Madrasah Aliyah class X published by Quadra in 2022 in terms of Bloom\u27s revised taxonomy theory at the cognitive level of C4, or Analysing, C5, Evaluating, and C6 Creating.
Methods: This research employs document analysis techniques (content analysis) within a qualitative descriptive approach to examine the object in depth using primary data. The researcher directly observed the book\u27s content and analysed the HOTS elements in the exercise questions. These were then categorised according to the levels of the revised Bloom\u27s Taxonomy, and conclusions were drawn based on the classifications.
Results: The results reveal that although HOTS elements are present in each theme, they are relatively few. The distribution shows C4 (2.4%), C5 (5.2%), and C6 (9.1%), indicating a predominance of LOTS (Lower Order Thinking Skills) over HOTS.
Implications: The findings imply the need for improvement and development of question exercises in Arabic textbooks to include aspects of higher order thinking skills (HOTS), especially at the C4 (analyze), C5 (evaluate), and C6 (create) levels, in order to support more critical, analytical, and creative learning in accordance with the demands of the 21st century curriculum.Latar belakang: Higher Order Thinking Skills merupakan bagian penting pada buku ajar, karena buku teks salah satu perangkat pembelajaran yang menunjang terlaksananya proses kegiatan belajar mengajar untuk tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran yang relevan dengan bidang pembelajaran tertentu.
Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi latihan soal bermuatan HOTS pada buku ajar bahasa Arab Madrasah Aliyah kelas X yang diterbitkan oleh Quadra tahun 2022 ditinjau dari teori taksonomi Bloom revisi pada tingkatan kognitif C4 atau Menganalisis, C5 Mengevaluasi, dan C6 Mencipta.
Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis dokumen (content analysis) pada metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengkaji objek secara mendalam dengan jenis data primer. Peneliti mengamati langsung isi buku dan menganalisa HOTS pada latihan soal dalam buku tersebut, dengan menggunakan level yang ditentukan berdasarkan teori taksonomi Bloom revisi kemudian mengklasifikasikannya berdasarkan level tersebut yang selanjutnya ditarik kesimpulan.
Hasil: Penelitian menunjukkan latihan soal dalam buku teks bahasa Arab kelas X terbitan Quadra tahun 2022 belum memuat HOTS dan masih dalam kategori LOTS, karena hanya sekedar mengingat, memahami dan mengetahui.
Implikasi: Hasil temuan ini mengimplikasikan perlunya perbaikan dan pengembangan latihan soal dalam buku ajar bahasa Arab agar mencakup aspek keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS), khususnya pada level C4 (menganalisis), C5 (mengevaluasi), dan C6 (mencipta), guna mendukung pembelajaran yang lebih kritis, analitis, dan kreatif sesuai dengan tuntutan Kurikulum abad 21
Impeachment of the King: A Constitutional Thought of Raja Ali Haji
This article aims to reveal Raja Ali Haji\u27s views on the impeachment of the head of state (the King) in a monarchical system. This idea indicates that he supported an accountable and non-absolute government. The analysis is conducted through socio-legal studies to offer a different perspective on Raja Ali Haji and his thoughts. Historical contexts and interpretations of Raja Ali Haji\u27s literary works are used in this article to explore these ideas. The findings show that the concept of impeaching the King must be based on valid reasons and proper considerations. Even then, this impeachment should not be carried out immediately; it must go through a special institution, Ahl al-Hall wa al-Aqd. His caution in discussing the issue of impeachment demonstrates that it should not be the first solution but a last resort if other methods can no longer resolve the issues. Therefore, he emphasized the importance of moral responsibility in governing the state and administration
PERAN KEPEMIMPINAN TRANSFORMASIONAL DIGITAL KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENCIPTAKAN BUDAYA INOVASI PENDIDIKAN ERA 4.0
This study aims to explore the role of school principals in integrating technology into teaching and learning, the challenges encountered in the process, and the competencies required for principals to lead digital transformation. A qualitative method with a case study approach was employed in several schools in Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with principals, teachers, and students, as well as document analysis related to school technology policies. The findings indicate that principals with a clear vision and adequate technological competence are able to foster the successful integration of technology in instruction. Key challenges include teachers’ resistance to change, limited resources and infrastructure, and the lack of ongoing professional development for teachers. Principals who address these barriers by providing sufficient support, continuous training, and cultivating a culture of innovation can accelerate schools’ digital transformation. Moreover, principals’ technological competencies play an important role in motivating and facilitating teachers to integrate technology. The study offers recommendations for principals to adopt transformational leadership and to place greater emphasis on teacher professional development and the enhancement of technological infrastructure. It is hoped that this research provides insights for education policymakers and school leaders to strengthen technology implementation in schools
MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK MELALUI METODE JIGSAW PADA MATERI AKU ANAK SALEH DI KELAS IV SD NEGERI 1 POIGAR, BOLAANG MONGONDOW
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas IV SD Negeri 1 Poigar pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti melalui metode jigsaw materi aku anak saleh. Penelitian termasuk jenis Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (Classroom Action Research) dengan dua siklus tindakan. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah kelas 4 SD Negeri 1 Poigar Tahun ajaran 2024/2025, yang terdiri dari 10 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam hasil belajar peserta didik. Pada siklus 1 nilai rata-rata 66,8 dan pada siklus 2 terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik mencapai 85,5 dengan Kriteria Ketuntasan Taraf Pemahaman (KKTP) meningkat dari 50% menjadi 80%. Secara keseluruhan penerapan metode jigsaw meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik dalam berinteraksi, berdiskusi, dan membangun pengetahuan secara aktif
MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK PADA MATERI MASA KEEMASAN ISLAM ERA DAULAH ABBASIYAH MELALUI MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi sejarah Islam khususnya Masa Keemasan Islam Era Daulah Abbasiyah melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL). Penelitian ini dilakukan pada kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lolak yang menghadapi tantangan dalam motivasi belajar dan pencapaian hasil belajar yang masih rendah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus, yang masing-masing mencakup perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan PBL secara signifikan meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, keterlibatan aktif dalam pembelajaran, dan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Dengan demikian, model PBL dapat menjadi solusi efektif untuk mengatasi permasalahan pembelajaran sejarah di sekola
MENINGKATAN HASIL BELAJAR PAI MATERI MENJADI PRIBADI BERINTEGRITAS PERILAKU AMANAH DAN JUJUR MELALUI MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) PADA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 1 NUSA TABUKAN
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar Peserta didik pada Materi Menjadi Pribadi Berintegritas Perilaku Amanah dan Jujur pada Mata Pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti melalui Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL). Adapun Subjek dalam Penelitian ini adalah Peserta didik Fase D Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Nusa Tabukan terdiri dari 10 Siswa. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil belajar peserta didik kls VIII SMP Negeri 1 Nusa Tabukan setelah terlihat bahwa pada siklus 1 yaitu nilai rata-rata ketuntasan 73, 8 dan Siklus II yaitu nilai rata-rata 97 %. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik pada bidang studi Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti pada Materi Menjadi Pribadi Berintegritas Perilaku Amanah dan Jujur. Antara sebelum dilakukan penelitian Tindakan kelas dan sesudah dilakukan penelitian Tindakan kelas menggunakan Model Problem Based Learning (PBL)
MENINGKATAN HASIL BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK MELALUI MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING PADA MATERI HAKIKAT MENCINTAI ALLAH SWT KELAS X TKJ DI SMK COKROAMINOTO SALONGO
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi "Hakikat Mencintai Allah SWT dan Tawakal Kepadanya" melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) di kelas X TKJ SMK Cokroaminoto Salongo. Masalah yang dihadapi adalah rendahnya pemahaman dan keterlibatan peserta didik dalam materi pelajaran agama yang bersifat abstrak dan teoritis. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, digunakanlah model PBL yang mendorong peserta didik untuk lebih aktif dalam proses pembelajaran dengan memecahkan masalah yang relevan dengan materi yang diajarkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik, yang tercermin dari peningkatan nilai rata-rata kelas dan aktivitas peserta didik dalam mengikuti pembelajara
