    Media Discursive Strategy of CNN Indonesia and Republika.co.id in Representing Jihad and Shahid: A Corpus-Based Critical Discourse Analysis Approach

    Background: The mass media play a crucial role in constructing social reality through language selection and issue framing. One significant issue concerns the representation of jihad and shahid, which are framed differently by CNN Indonesia and Republika.co.id. Aims: This study aims to examine how CNN Indonesia and Republika.co.id construct the meanings of jihad and shahid across various news topics and to investigate the discursive strategies they employ in linking these concepts within their news coverage. Methods: This study adopted a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Fairclough\u27s critical discourse analysis was applied to explore the discursive strategies used by the mass media to construct and reinforce ideology, stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination in the representation of jihad and shahid. The research employed the AntConc corpus tool for keyword analysis, collocation, and concordance. The dataset consisted of news articles containing the terms jihad and shahid, published over the past eight years on CNN Indonesia and Republika.co.id. Results: The findings reveal that CNN Indonesia and Republika.co.id play a significant role in shaping public discourse and perceptions of jihad and shahid in Indonesia. The media frequently associate these terms with Islam, radicalism, and terrorism, often leading to generalized and oversimplified interpretations. CNN Indonesia tends to reinforce negative stereotypes and prejudices against Islam, whereas Republika.co.id presents a more positive interpretation. Implications: This study underscores the critical role of media in shaping social and cultural understandings of religious concepts. The findings highlight the need for more nuanced and balanced media representations to prevent the perpetuation of stereotypes and to promote a more inclusive and informed public discourse on sensitive issues such as jihad and shahid

    Validating a diagnostic reading test for junior high school EFL learners in Indonesia\u27s English massive program using QUEST

    Background: Non-formal English education programs often lack rigorous assessment tools, resulting in challenges in evaluating student performance and guiding instructional improvements. One such program, the English Massive Program (EMAS) in Kediri, East Java, Indonesia, serves as a community-driven initiative focused on enhancing English proficiency. However, the quality of its assessments, especially in reading comprehension, remains a critical concern. Aims: This study aims to investigate how item analysis using the QUEST application can enhance the quality of diagnostic assessment and instructional strategies in non-formal English education, specifically within the EMAS program. The focus is on analysing reading comprehension tests to identify weaknesses and propose improvements in test construction. Methods: This exploratory study analysed 30 multiple-choice reading comprehension items completed by 26 junior high school students participating in the EMAS program. The QUEST application was employed to assess item difficulty, discrimination, and distractor efficiency. Results: The results showed that while most discrimination indices were within acceptable ranges, many items, especially the distractors, were too simple and ineffective. This resulted in insufficient and unbalanced discrimination values, indicating that the test items did not optimally differentiate among varying student ability levels. Implications: The study underscores the importance of integrating psychometric-based diagnostic tools in community education settings. It demonstrates how such analysis can empower educators with practical insights to improve test design, thereby enhancing assessment quality and pedagogy. The research calls for more advanced diagnostic assessment methods to support literacy and instructional planning in low-resource, non-formal educational environments

    Curriculum Reform: A Transformation of Educational Progress

    Curriculum renewal is a strategic agenda in responding to the challenges of globalization, technological developments, and the demands of 21st century competencies. This article discusses the urgency of curriculum transformation in Indonesian education with a focus on the implementation of the Independent Curriculum as an effort to improve the quality and relevance of learning. The main objective of this study is to explore the dynamics of curriculum renewal implementation in various geographical contexts and identify the determinants of its success. This study uses a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study type. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation from 15 informants in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas, then analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate a significant implementation gap between regions, influenced by teacher readiness, institutional support, and infrastructure. These findings enrich the understanding of the importance of a contextual approach and policy differentiation in curriculum implementation. In conclusion, curriculum renewal will only be effective if supported by adaptive policies, ongoing training, and equal access to educational technology. Further research is recommended to use a longitudinal approach and data triangulation to deepen understanding of the process of sustainable educational transformation

    A Comparative Study of Indonesian and Egyptian Islamic Law on Post-Divorce Child Custody Rules

    This study aims to compare Islamic law in Indonesia and Egypt regarding child custody (hadhanah) regulations after divorce, with a focus on the principles of protection and the best interests of the child. This research employs a library research method, examining sources such as the Qur’an, hadith, classical Islamic jurisprudence texts, statutory regulations, and relevant scholarly studies. The research process involves reading, reviewing, and analyzing literature related to the implementation of hadhanah in both legal systems. The findings indicate that Indonesia views hadhanah as an essential aspect of family Law that emphasizes child protection and welfare. Legally, mothers receive priority in caring for young children; however, final decisions are always made in the child\u27s best interests. This reflects the adaptive, humanistic, and justice-oriented nature of Islamic Law in Indonesia, which remains responsive to modern societal needs. Meanwhile, Egypt places maslahah al-thifl (the child’s best interest) at the core of its regulation of hadhanah and has successfully integrated Islamic values into modern national law. Both countries affirm that the child’s welfare is the paramount consideration in determining custody after divorce

    This research deals with spiritual quotient based on the perspective of the Prophet Muhammad\u27s hadith and Prophetic narrative (Sirah Nabawi). The research was conducted using hadith science and psychology as research approaches. This research is a scientific literature-based research that is descriptive qualitative and is a library research. The results found in this study that basically quotient is not only intellectual quotient and emotional quotient, but there is also what is called spiritual quotient. In Islam, the spiritual quotient has been taught by the Prophet Muhammad PBUH in life as well as in his various traditions which can be seen in the Sirah nabawi. The spiritual quotient taught by the Prophet Muhammad in his hadith and life (Sirah nabawi) is the main indicator of piety. Piety can be achieved by being generous, and getting closer to Allah swt. by interacting with Him through worship and remembrance (dhikr).Penelitian ini berkaitan dengan kecerdasan spiritual berdasarkan perspektif hadis Nabi Muhammad saw. dan sirah Nabawi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan ilmu hadis dan ilmu psikologi sebagai pendekatan penelitian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang berbasis literatur ilmiah yang bersifat kualitatif deskriptif dan merupakan penelitian kepustakaan. Adapun hasil yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini bahwa pada dasarnya kecerdasan tidak hanya kecerdasan intelektual dan kecerdasan emosional, namun terdapat juga yang disebut kecerdasan spiritual. Dalam Islam kecerdasan spiritual telah diajarkan oleh Nabi Muhammad saw. dalam kehidupan serta dalam berbagai hadis beliau yang dapat dilihat dalam sirah nabawi. Kecerdasan spiritual yang diajarkan oleh Nabi Muhammad saw. dalam hadisnya serta dalam kehidupan (sirah nabawi) memiliki indikator utama yaitu ketakwaan.     This research aims to analyze the procedures of the planning financial audit conducted by KAP XYZ. The basis to analyze every step in the procedures of the planning financial audit is according to the Standards on Auditing in the Professional Standards of Certified Public Accountants (SPAP) set by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Indonesia (IAPI). Audit procedures is a tool to increase the quality of audited financial statement. The author used qualitative descriptive by doing a direct interview and observation at the place of KAP XYZ. Based on the interview and discussion result, the author indicate that some of the procedures of planning financial audit conducted by KAP XYZ are not yet in accordance and some of the procedures of planning finansial audit are in accordance to the procedures of planning financial audit by SPAP.This research aims to analyze the procedures of the planning financial audit conducted by KAP XYZ.     This study aims to analyze the development of Bhayangkara Hospital Kendari’s financial performance after implementing the Public Service Agency Financial Management Pattern in 2020–2024. The analytical tool used is financial ratios based on PER-22/PB/2020. The research applies a comparative descriptive design with a quantitative approach at Bhayangkara Hospital Kendari. Results showed that financial performance fluctuated during the five-year period. The highest score was recorded in 2022, reaching 75.53, categorized as good with an A predicate, while the lowest score occurred in 2024 with 60.53, categorized as fair with a BBB predicate. In general, the performance from 2020 to 2022 ranged between 69.74 and 75.53, consistently included in the good category with an A predicate. However, in 2023 and 2024, the scores decreased to between 60.53 and 67.11, shifting to the FAIR category with a BBB predicate.     Pengaruh Green Corporate Governance dan Corporate Social Responsibility terhadap Nilai Perusahaan Sektor Transportasi dan Logistik yang Terdaftar Di BEI (2022-2024)

    The transportation and logistics industry has increasingly been associated with sustainability concerns due to its economic significance and environmental impact. In this context, the implementation of Green Corporate Governance (GCG) and the disclosure of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are expected to play a role in shaping firm value. This study explores how GCG practices and CSR disclosure relate to firm value among transportation and logistics companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2022–2024 period. A quantitative research design was employed using secondary data obtained from companies’ annual and sustainability reports, with samples selected through purposive sampling. The empirical results indicate that neither GCG nor CSR has a statistically significant effect on firm value, either individually or simultaneously. Moreover, the explanatory power of both variables is relatively weak, accounting for only 3.1% of the variation in firm value. These findings suggest that market valuation in the transportation and logistics sector remains predominantly driven by financial and operational considerations rather than sustainability-oriented governance and social initiatives.     Islamic boarding schools have strategic potential as agents of economic empowerment for the community through the development of micro-enterprises based on sharia principles, especially for post-graduation alumni. With social capital, alumni networks, and the internalization of Islamic values, Islamic boarding schools have the opportunity to become centers of inclusive and sustainable microeconomic transformation. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic boarding schools in strengthening the Islamic economy and to identify strategies for empowering sharia-based micro-enterprises among Islamic boarding school alumni. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method on alumni from four Islamic boarding schools in Brebes Regency, namely Assalafiyah Luwungragi Islamic Boarding School, Al-Hikmah Benda 1 Islamic Boarding School, Al-Hikmah Benda 2 Islamic Boarding School, and Darunnajat Islamic Boarding School, with a total of 75 respondents. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically. The results of the study show that most alumni developed micro businesses in the trade, culinary, agriculture, and service sectors based on the sharia values they acquired during their education at Islamic boarding schools.  Sharia principles, such as avoiding usury and honesty in transactions, are the main foundations in business management. Entrepreneurship training and alumni networks play a major role in supporting business success, although there are still obstacles in the form of limited access to digital technology, modern markets, and post-graduation business assistance. Therefore, a more structured empowerment strategy is needed, such as the development of Islamic boarding school business incubators, strengthening digital literacy, and partnerships with Islamic financial institutions.     The development process around the world is faced with a dilemma, namely whether development keep going continued, consider the impact it causes, namely damaging environment. One proof is and more it\u27s hot earth\u27s temperature as a result of clearing forests for the sake of generating development various crisis environments is one of them is global warming. This is thought to be caused by the "ignorance" factor of world leaders about concepts-based ecology. Therefore, giving knowledge and understanding since early to generation young people, especially students, about concepts based on “eco-literacy,” is urgent to do. Based on this thought, it is necessary to implement the activity in the form of devotion in society (P2M), especially for students in Elementary School, to improve eco-literacy through delivery in the form instructional pack. One of the methods to evaluate the success of a service program public is based on the evaluation initial (before the program is implemented) compared to the results end (after the program is done), so it looks at whether there is improvement in a way significant or not. If there is, then can it be said that the P2M program was successful? The methods applied are, at the beginning of activities, visiting the school, then the team giving an explanation and then giving test pre-test to the students, and then sharing a small book called learning package about eco-literacy. After around one-half month, with the students\u27 estimates already reading the learning package contents, the team came back to class and provided a post-test. The difference between the two tests found there was an improvement in students\u27 eco-literacy significantly, so it can be concluded that the P2M program implemented was successful. Based on this activity, recommendations could be delivered that in every learning, teachers are asked to always tuck in basic concepts, for early use to improve students’ eco-literacy, therefore, in the future, they are the ones who will become national leaders.Perkembangan pembangunan di seluruh dunia dihadapkan pada dilema yakni apakah pembangunan terus dilanjutkan, mengingat dampak yang ditimbulkannya yakni kerusakan lingkungan. Salah satu bukti adalah makin panasnya temperatur bumi sebagai akibat dari pembabatan hutan demi pembangunan yang menimbulkan berbagai krisis lingkungan salah satunya adalah pemanasan global. Hal ini diduga disebabkan oleh faktor “ignorance” para pemimpin dunia tentang konsep-konsep dasar ekologi. Karena itu, memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman sejak dini kepada generasi muda, khususnya para siswa, tentang konsep-konsep dasar tersebut melalui “ecoliteracy,” mendesak untuk dilakukan. Atas dasar pemikiran ini, perlu dilaksanakan kegiatan dalam bentuk pengabdian pada  masyarakat (P2M), terutama bagi siswa-siswa Sekolah Dasar, guna meningkatkan ecoliteracy melalui penyampaian dalam bentuk paket instruksional. Salah satu cara mengevaluasi keberhasilan suatu program pengabdian masyarakat adalah berdasarkan penilaian awal (sebelum program diterapkan) dibandingkan dengan hasil akhir (setelah program dilakukan), sehingga tampak apakah terdapat peningkatan secara signifikan atau tidak. Apabila ada, maka dapat dikatakan bahwa program P2M berhasil. Metode yang diterapkan adalah, pada awal kegiatan, mendatangi sekolah, lalu tim memberikan penjelasan dan kemudian memberikan tes awal (pre-test) kepada para siswa, lalu membagikan buku kecil yang disebut paket pembelajaran ecoliteracy. Setelah sekitar satu setengah bulan, dengan perkiraan para siswa sudah membaca isi paket pembelajaran tersebut, kemudian tim mendatnagi lagi kelas tersebut untuk memberikan tes akhir (post-test). Kedua selisih hasil tes tersebut diuji dan ditemukan terdapat peningkatan ecoliteracy siswa secara signifikan, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa program P2M yang dilaksanakan telah berhasil. Berdasarkan kegiatan ini dapat disampaikan rekomendasi agar dalam setiap pembelajaran apa pun, para guru diminta untuk selalu menyelipkan konsep-konsep dasar secara dini, sehingga dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan ecoliteracy para siswa, demi merekalah yang akan menjadi pemimpin bangsa di masa depan.   Kata Kunci: Eco-literacy, P2M, pre dan post-test, dan pemimpin bangsa &nbsp
