VISUAL FRAMING OF ISLAM IN ONLINE NEWSPAPERS: EVIDENCE FROM SELECTED MUSLIM-MAJORITY NATIONS
Purpose of the study: This study comparatively explores Islam-related visual elements in selected online newspapers from Nigeria and Malaysia.
Methodology: A total of 425 photos and 23 videos published alongside Islam-related news collected from selected online newspapers between November 2015 and September 2016 were analyzed via content analysis.
Main Findings: The findings reveal that 43 out of the total number of photos reproduced violence while no violent videos were found in the select newspapers. It was also found that some of the photos used in the selected newspapers were either unrelated to the event being reported or used in different reports.
Applications: This study could be valuable for practicing journalists in the process of carrying out their jobs. It is also intended to influence the newspaper management decisions on how to disseminate information that is free of bias and maintain accountability for their news.
Novelty/Originality: This study provided evidence on the visual framing of Islam in online newspapers, particularly within Muslim-majority states
OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES OF WOMEN LEGISLATIVE CANDIDATES ON ELECTIONS IN BANDA ACEH
Purpose: This research is focused on the public space in the field of politics that explains how women candidates legislative from political parties and local political parties national participate in contestation with the men in the legislative election in 2019 the level of the city Banda Aceh.
Methodology: This paper uses qualitative research methods with an ethnographic approach contemporary feminist and collection of data through observation, documentation and semi-structured interviews were conducted with fifteen legislative women candidates of local political parties and national political parties from the electoral districts of Banda Aceh were scattered on 9 districts in Banda Aceh.
Main Findings: The findings of this study indicate that there are three forces of elected women candidate to continue to increase each election period: (1) The full support of the family, (2) Grassroots women's community (Balee Inong), (3) The presence of government support through Musrena and Musrenbang forum which became the strength of women's bargaining position in planning and budgeting. Although on the other hand patriarchy culture is still a separate constraint for women working in the public arena.
Implications/Applications: The results showed that the dominance of men who are members of local and national political parties in Aceh making space for women in the general election is getting narrower, plus a serial number of women in a legislative candidate sequence that is in the last number makes women, not the candidates featured in his political party. But the election of women in the legislature is much better than the previous period.
Novelty: The political arena became a force for women of Banda Aceh in scraping patriarchy culture that has been very inherent to Acehnese people wrapped in a religious culture or the habit of Acehnese people who put women into numbers two in development
FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF CREATIVE-WRITING TEXTBOOKS FOR EDUCATION STUDIES
Purpose of the study: This study aimed to formulate and evaluate the effectiveness of creative writing poetry textbooks with problem-based learning on local wisdom for Indonesian Education Language and Literature students in IKIP PGRI Pontianak and STKIP PGRI Sintang West Kalimantan.
Methodology: This study used the quantitative approach of quasi-experimental research by dividing subjects into two groups, treatment and control groups.
Main Findings: Expected to be able to fulfill the needs of textbooks in creative poetry writing based on local wisdom in private universities in West Kalimantan.
Applications of this study: Indonesian Language and Literature Education at IKIP PGRI Pontianak and STKIP PGRI Sintang West Kalimantan.
Novelty/Originality of this study: By all means, the use of modified teaching material on creative writing poetry with the problem-based learning model on local wisdom was more effective than the previous textbooks
ANALYSIS OF E-CRM, SERVICE QUALITY AND BRAND TRUST RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENT SATISFACTION
Purpose of the study: The purpose of this research is to find out the relationship between e-CRM and student satisfaction, to find out the relationship between service quality and student satisfaction, to find out the relationship between brand trust and student satisfaction.
Methodology: The questionnaire is used as a data-gathering technique with a total sample of 88 respondents, and it is using a purposive sampling technique. The collected data are then analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS 19.
Main Findings: The research result shows that e-CRM is positive and has no relationship with student satisfaction, service quality is negative and has a relationship with student satisfaction, and brand trust is negative and has no relationship with student satisfaction.
Applications of this study: This study can be used for the management of the Economy and Business Faculty of Budi Luhur University Jakarta as an evaluation guideline.
Novelty/Originality of this study: E-CRM and brand trust variables are negative and have no relationship with student satisfaction. Some recommendations for future research are also made
THE ROLE OF TEACHERS COMMUNICATION THROUGH THE PATTERN OF EARLY CHILDHOOD
Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study was to determine the role of teacher communication in early childhood.
Methodology: This research is descriptive qualitative research. The methods used in this research are observation, interview, and documentation, for data analysis using: data reduction, data presentation, and data verification, in checking the data through credibility, transformability, and conformability.
Main Findings: From the results of the overall findings can researchers conclude that the role of teachers, parents with children often occur imbalances or "miscommunication" so unwittingly the negative impacts arise when the child is out of the house or at school. This condition can look into the child itself introspection, because by knowing yourself then the child will be easy to know other people.
Applications of this study: This research was conducted in Jombang City, with the consideration that PIAUDBina Karya is located in Jombang City.
Novelty/Originality of this study: give to the child to communicate as widely as possible, order to be able and dare to express an opinion according to their age
LOCAL WISDOM OF THE BAJO TRIBE AND ITS ACCULTURATION ON ISLAMIC SHARIA: A CASE IN TOMINI BAY–INDONESIA
Purpose: This study analyzed local wisdom of the Bajo Tribe and its acculturation on Islamic sharia. Furthermore, it analyzed the practice of pamali and mamiakadilao as local wisdom of the Bajo tribe, and whether the existence of Islamic sharia diminishes the practice of local wisdom, or precisely accompanies the local wisdom of the Bajo people.
Methodology: A case study method has been used for the study. The selection of informants was by purposive sampling and snowball techniques. The data collection was through in-depth interviews and passive participation observation. The data analysis was done qualitatively.
Main Findings: The Bajo had local wisdom in the form of pamali and mamiakadilao which were institutionalized in traditions and customs. Pamali is an ethic of the Bajo people in building relationships with their natural environment. While, mamiakadilao is a grouping of the Bajo when fishing, namely the palilibu, bapongka, and sakai groups. When the Bajo accepted Islamic sharia, it did not eliminate their original beliefs. These two belief systems live side by side. The Bajo accepted Islam as their religion, but at the same time still hold fast and practice their ancestral heritage.
Implications: Understanding the local wisdom of the Bajo Tribe, as well as its acculturation on Islamic Sharia.
Novelty: The acceptance of Islam as a new religion for the Bajo does not diminish existing local wisdom. Bajo people embrace Islam as a new religion, but they do not abandon ancestral traditions. The entry of Islamic sharia is to enrich the local wisdom of the Bajo tribe
WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT TOWARD MARITAL SATISFACTION WITH SELF-EFFICACY AS A MODERATOR VARIABLE
Purpose of the study: The aim of the study to determine the effect of work-family conflict on marital satisfaction and try to see whether self-efficacy can be a moderator variable in the relation among work-family conflict and marital satisfaction in PKK mothers who work in District X.
Methodology: The subjects of this study were 200 PKK mothers working in District X. Data collection used three scales, namely the scale of work-family conflict, the scale of marital satisfaction, and self-efficacy scale.
Main Findings: The first hypothesis obtained with a t-value of -0.33, and then there is a negative relationship between work-family conflict with marital satisfaction. Then for the second hypothesis, self-efficacy has a positive role in marital satisfaction. And the third hypothesis is obtained by the statistical value of 2.71, which means that self-efficacy can be moderated variable in the relationship between work-family conflict and marital satisfaction.
Applications of this study: This study can be used as an appropriate foundation, especially as consideration for married couples to maintain and increase marital satisfaction.
Novelty/Originality of this study: This research focuses on the role of self-efficacy as a moderator variable that functions to strengthen marital satisfaction and reduce work-family conflict in the family. The causality relationship built in this research is an important value that must be a major concern for potential couples who will get married to busy conditions in their work
CORPORATE FINANCIAL POLICY AND ITS IMPACT ON SUSTAINABLE CAPITAL STRUCTURE: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM TEXTILE FIRMS OF PAKISTAN
Purpose of the study: In this article, the objective is to discover the influence of business financial policy on the firm’s Capital structure of the textile zone of Pakistan. The present outcomes of productivity, total assets, future growth, and asset structure have started a discussion over the total debt ratio.
Methodology: The methodology used to conduct this work in order to examine the effect of total assets, future growth, profitability, and asset structure and its impact on total debt ratio, Panel data analysis has been accomplished and together the firm and industry explicit dynamics have been measured, yearly data has been taken off 96 textile firms of Pakistan concluded the period of 2012 - 2017 for OLS, regression model & LSDVM.
Main Findings: The results reveal that the OLS regression model is not a good fit and the model shows that there is no significant impact of all the independent variables on the dependent variables. Whereas the results of LSDVM indicated that this model is a good fit, the model revealed that the entire individuals have combined effect on the dependent variable. Similarly, the alternate hypothesis indicates the significant influence of independent variables on the dependent variable whereas the Null hypothesis indicated no or insignificant influence of independent variables on the dependent variable.
Application of this study: This study contributes toward the financial sector for policymakers in order to construct the best capital configuration of the firm. This study also suggests that which element is having more importance while making capital configuration of the firm.
The originality of this study: Capital structure is a crucial issue for entrepreneurs and CEOs of any firm. The number of studies is available related to other industries but fewer studies are available related to the textile firms of Pakistan so this research work provides the technique while making the best capital configuration for textile firms of Pakistan
INFLUENCING FACTORS TO LOGISTICS CENTRE FORMATION – A STUDY OF VIETNAM-BASED LOGISTICS SECTOR
Purpose of the study: The paper tries to model dynamic interactions of factors that contribute to the logistics center building. Conducting the desk review and expert consultation, the causality of the factors is systemized in a form of Causal Loop Diagram using the System Dynamics approach.
Methodology: System Dynamics (SD) is an approach for studying interlinked behaviors within a system and reflects the interactions of feedback loops. Compared to other approaches, SD demonstrates the real world by using factors and stocks for components and feedback loops for inter-relationships among them. SD model qualitatively illustrates the causal relationship among factors that influence the building of the logistics center.
Main Findings: A combination of four different sub-systems, using a questionnaire survey conducted with logistics service users and providers to sort out the high scored factors. Besides, the survey also helps to study the practical conditions and characteristics in showing the demand, the trend, and the development of logistics centers in Vietnam.
Applications of this study: Logistics centers (LCs) can be considered as a depot for vehicles where drivers and managers of vehicles are supposed to maintain, repair vehicles, and adjust vehicle operation schedules.
Novelty/Originality of this study: As defined by the scope of the project, the SD model provides a qualitative demonstration of the interaction among factors. The built model gives a systematic insight into how factors link to each other
STUDY ON THE FIDUCIARY ACCOUNTABILITY, SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS GROWTH IN THE LISTED COMPANIES AND SMEs
Purpose of study: In this study, fiduciary accountability and sustainable business growth are examined. There is an inadequate study on the fiduciary accountability of directors in which directors are accountable for their actions such as approving expenditure on innovation, which results in low profit. As such this study will look into the innovation and sustainable business growth and how the fiduciary accountability of directors moot innovation technologically, encouraging innovative knowledge through social-media among the employees, product innovation to meet customers’ needs and, ensuring sustainable business growth.
Methodology: In order to have more reliability of the aforesaid a comparative study is made between one of the public listed companies and SMEs. Semi-structured interview methods are used in which open-ended questions are preferred to find out the particular areas.
Results: The results show that this study has triggered academic vigour in the future because of the new concept of “fiduciary accountability”, which is introduced in this literature.
Applications of this study: It has practical significance for corporations, directors, and academicians on fiduciary accountability of directors in harnessing profit to the corporation and enduring sustainable business growth. This is necessitated by the current trade restrictions.
Novelty/Originality of this study: This study on fiduciary accountability in relation to sustainable business growth is not scholarly explored and any study would go a long way in academic pursuance
