AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ABILITY IN FINDING VERB THROUGH SONG LYRICS IN SMP MARISI MEDAN
Get PDFThis research was aimed to find out the students’ vocabulary ability in finding verb through song lyrics. And this study has done in SMP MARISI Medan. Speaking is one of the language skills in English. That’s why mastery vocabulary is needed by every people. Vocabulary is a set of similar words within a person’s language. A vocabulary, usually developed with age, serves as as useful and fundamental tool for communication and acquiring knowledge. Teaching vocabulary through song is not only sing or reading lyric of song and fun so that is make the students passive but also process of teaching these vocabulary to be applied in activities in a form of communication.The result of analysis showed that finding verb through song lyrics answered by students’. The students’ who got excellent is 18 (60%), the students’ who got good is 10 (33,3%) . so after the writer got there are score, the writer concluded that students’ who got excellent and good categorized able. The students’ who got categorized Bad2 (6,6%) students’. So, after the writer got there are score, the writer conclude that students’ who got enough and bad categorized unable in finding verb. The researcher hopes that the students’ should be active in learning especially on vocabulary because vocabulary is one of important skills in learning English. The students’ must develop their vocabulary so they can speak well in English. Moreover, the students’ may get more knowledge to improve their vocabulary in English

Sebagai sebuah warisan Wuat wa’I memiliki nilai-nilai yang baik yang terkandung di dalamnya. Selain sebagai sumber nilai-nilai dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat, tradisi waut wa’i merupakan salah satu warisan budaya dari para leluhur. Tradisi Wuat Wa’i merupakan kebiasaan yang terus dipakai sejak nenek moyang Manggarai ada hingga generasi sekarang. Dalam penelitian ini, ada dua hal yang akan diteliti yaitu (1) tentang nilai-nilai apa saja yang terkandung pada mantra waut wa’i sebagai tradisi masyarakat di Desa Suka Kiong Kabupaten Mangarai Barat Flores NTT (2) Fungsi apa saja yang terkandung dalam mantra wuat wa’i sebagai tradisi masyarakat di Desa Suka Kiong Kabupaten Manggarai Barat Flores NTT. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian jenis kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini mendekripsikan tentang nilai-nilai dan fungsi yang terkandung dalam mantra wuat wa’i di desa Suka Kiong. MEMORY AND COGNITIVE LEARNING STRATEGIES FROM THE TEACHERS AND LEARNERS PERSPECTIVES
Get PDFThis research falls within the area of language learning strategies (LLS) in English as a foreign language (EFL). Although the impact of LLS on vocabulary learning has attracted ample of studies in the field on teaching English as a second or foreign language. However, teachers and learners’ views of LLS have not been investigated enough. To that end, this research sheds light on the adopted approaches while teaching these strategies by EFL teachers at the Higher Language Institute. It investigates whether these strategies are taught implicitly, explicitly or both. To conduct this study, the researcher applied two questionnaires: the questionnaires are used to evaluate the used memory and cognitive strategies by teachers and intermediate learners at the HLI. These instruments are applied on the sample that includes 36 intermediate and 30 EFL teachers at the HLI. The data obtained was dealt with descriptively and analytically. The findings show that the majority of teachers tend to train students to use memory and cognitive strategies implicitly. In addition, it was noticed that both teachers and learners use the same set of strategies which implies that teaching approaches has a direct impact on the used strategies by the learners

No full textThe objective of speaking class is to improve and develop students’ speaking skill to be fluent, correct and accurate. One of techniques applied on that speaking class is Reader’s Theatre. Reader’s theatre can encourage students to speak English fluently with correct vocabulary, pronounce words well and speak with a good structure. This study aims to know the effectiveness from reader’s theatre toward students’ speaking skill at STKIP PGRI Jombang. The population of this study is all students of 2017 English department while the samples are 2017 A students and 2017 B students. The research design applies quasi experiment with a test as the instrument and calculate the data with ANCOVA. It shows that the significant value is 0,003, it is lower than the significant level 0,05. The result of the study shows that there is a significant effect to reader’s theatre on students’ speaking skill at STKIP PGRI Jombang and reader’s theatre can give a good result on students’ speaking skill
CHARACTER VALUES IN NARRATIVE TEXTS OF ENGLISH TEXTBOOKS “BUKU GURU BAHASA INGGRIS” FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL PUBLISHED BY THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND CULTURE
Get PDFThis research focuses to finding out the Character Values in Narrative Texts of English textbook “Buku Guru Bahasa Inggris” for Senior High School published by The Ministry of Education and Culture, to what extent character values was applied in the narrative texts, and how did teachers and students responses on the integration of character values in those English textbooks especially in narrative texts material and their implementation in teaching process and in daily life. In this design, the researcher has used qualitative and descriptive approach also the data were written description. In collecting the data the researcher used cluster random sampling and the researcher is the main instrument in collecting, identifying, analyzing and discussing the data. After doing the research, the research found character values found by the researcher in those narrative texts include hardwork, brave, helpful, kind-hearted, merciful, honesty, responsible, patient, spiritful, confidence, and loyalty. Then, there are four until six character values in each story. The results of this study also convinced that the teachers and students of Senior high school in Jombang has been implementing character education in teaching and learning activities, including in English subject and especially in narrative text material

Buah labu kuning atau disebut dengan “Waluh” di Desa Sumberingin ini belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal, masyarakat umumnya langsung menjual buah labu kuning ini ke pasaran dengan nilai jual rendah. Masyarakat di Desa Sumberingin ini juga minim pengetahuan tentang manfaat buah labu kuning untuk kesehatan tubuh dan juga minim pengetahuan tentang berbagai olahan produk kekinian untuk meningkatkan nilai jual buah labu kuning di pasaran. SPEECH ACT OF CRITICIZING, PERSUADING THE AUDIENTS BELIEVES ON “WAR MACHINE” FILM: A PRAGMATIC MUTIMODAL PERSPECTIVE

Pragmatic multimodal perspective is used to uncover both speech act and the cinematic aspect in order to know how the movie producer criticize and persuade audients to believe. This research is presented Qualitatively and the data taken from David Michôd (2016) work “War Machines”. It was found that the movie has three ways in criticizing the government and persuading the audien to believe. They are; 1. To contradict between speech and multimodality of cinematic to create an offensive criticism structure. 2. Use of mutually supportive between speech acts of and multimodality to create a common criticism structure (mutual affirmation of speech acts and multimodality). 3. The use of personification of institutions to direct criticism of policy holders.
MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR PASSING SEPAK BOLA MELALUI DRILL MODIFIKASI BOLA PADA SISWA KELAS IV SDN KARANGBANYU 1 TAHUN 2019/2020
Get PDFAbstrakPenelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui: upaya peningkatkan hasil belajar passing bawah sepak bola melalui drill modifikasi bola pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Karangbanyu 1 Tahun 2019/2020. Metode digunakan adalah menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Dengan dua jenis data yang dianalisis berupa kemampuan passing bawah sepak bola, dan Hasil belajar passing sepak bola. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) ini terdiri atas tes dan observasi guna mengumpulkan data terkait kognitif, afektif dan psikmotor. Hasil analisis pada siklus I menunjukkan hasil ketrampilan passing bawah sepak bola meningkat dari 57% pada kondisi awal menjadi 86% pada akhir bagian siklus I, selain itu kemampuan siswa dalam melakukan rangkaian gerakan passing bawah sepak bola meningkat dari 57 % pada kondisi awal menjadi 86 % pada akhir siklus I. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh simpulan bahwa penerapan pendekatan latihan sangat efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar passing bawah sepak bola pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Karangbanyu 1 tahun ajaran 2019/2020. PENGEMBANGAN PERANGKAT PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA BERBASIS PROBLEM BASED LEARNING PADA MATERI ARITMETIKA SOSIAL UNTUK SISWA KELAS VII SMP/MTs
No full textTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika dengan model Problem Based Learning pada materi aritmetika sosial untuk siswa kelas VII SMP/MTs. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan berupa silabus, Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), dan Lembar Aktivitas Siswa (LAS). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan 4D yang terdiri dari tahap define (definisi), design (rancangan), development (pengembangan), dan disseminate (penyebaran), namun pada penelitian ini hanya dilakukan sampai tahap development. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data validasi diperoleh rata-rata penilaian untuk silabus, RPP, dan LAS adalah 3,65, 3,63, dan 3,74 dengan kategori sangat valid. Berdasarkan hasil analisis angket respon siswa terhadap LAS diperoleh persentase rata-rata 81,87% pada ujicoba terbatas dengan kategori praktis dan 86,18% pada ujicoba lapangan dengan kategori sangat praktis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa silabus, RPP dan LAS yang dikembangkan berbasis problem based learning pada materi aritmetika sosial telah memenuhi kriteria valid dan praktis.. SURVEI PELAKSANAAN PEMBELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN JASMANI DAN OLAHRAGA SELAMA PANDEMI COVID-19
Get PDFCovid-19 membuat perubahan dalam dunia pendidikan yang sangat signifikan, salah satunya adalah proses pebelajaran yang dilakukan secara online atau dalam jaringan (daring). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana cara guru pendidikan jasmani dalam melakukan proses pebelajaran selama pandemi Covid-19. subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 20 guru pendidikan jasmani di Kecamatan Prajuritkulon Kota Mojokerto. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 80% guru menggunakan aplikasi WhatApps untuk melakukan proses pebelajaran pendidikan jasmani, selebihnya menggunakan media google classrom (10%) dan Zoom Cloud Meeting (10%) sebagai sarana pebelajaran mata pelajaran pendidikan jasmani. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa masih banyak guru yang belum dapat mengoperasikan beberapa aplikasi belajar secara online untuk menunjang proses pebelajaran pendidikan jasmani selama masa pandemi Covid-19
