Fatwa Institutions in Handling Religious Blasphemy Crimes in Indonesia and Malaysia
The position of fatwa institutions in cases of blasphemy by cult groups is often seen as representing only the majority Muslims and blaming minority Muslims, as in Indonesia, or seen as a tool to suppress anti-government groups, as in Malaysia. This study aims to explain the position of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and Jawatankuasa Fatwa in handling heresy, including the reasons behind the differences in the positions and roles of the two institutions. Researchers use qualitative methods with a comparative legal approach. This study found that MUI's heretical fatwas had no legal force, the central MUI has the authority to enact heretical fatwas within MUI institutions, but not absolutely to respond to national laws, and not play a role in the criminal justice system. Meanwhile, Jawatankuasa Fatwa Kebangsaan (JFK) has the force of law with certain conditions, however, the federal state Jawatankuasa Fatwa has the authority to determine heretical fatwas to respond and strengthen state regulations (blasphemy laws). This research can be used as a reference for law enforcement in handling blasphemy cases by considering the views of MUI and Jawatankuasa Fatwa, which are regulated adequately by laws and regulations
Legal Effectiveness of Halal Product Certification in Improving Business Economics in Indonesia and Malaysia
Law Number 33 of 2014 and Government Regulation Number 31 of 2019 in Indonesia shifted halal certification from voluntary to mandatory on October 17, 2019, contrasting with Malaysia's voluntary system under the 2011 Akta Perihal Dagang (APD). This study aims to scrutinize the legal regulations of halal certification in both countries and assess their impacts on business entities. Employing a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach reveals differences in certification procedures, notably in application-to-issuance stages. Indonesia provides a self-declaration mechanism for micro and small businesses, while Malaysia lacks such a provision. Nonetheless, material inspection principles align in both nations. Most respondents perceive halal certification as crucial for sales turnover, despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is significant for businesses and governments on how to manage halal certification in both countries
Al-Ghazali's Eco-Sufism for Environmental Preservation: Living Sufism at Pesantren Al-Anwar 3 of Central Java
Natural destruction is a severe problem faced by human beings up to the present. Many factors are identified, including less awareness of its preservation, no matter how much research is exposed. This study investigates how Al-Ghazali’s ecosufism theory is implemented at Pesantren Al-Anwar 3 of Central Java. This study employs a qualitative method with field research, which involves an anthropological approach to observe and analyze the implementation of al-Ghazali’s ecosufism concept regarding environmental ethics and waste management at Pesantren Al-Anwar 3 in Central Java. The research findings reveal al-Ghazali’s concept in dealing with environmental issues, including shukr (thankfulness), zuhd (asceticism), ‘uzla (seclusion) and maḥabba (love). They are practiced by Pesantren Al-Anwar 3 by creating innovative waste management systems, such as burning without emitting smoke, optimizing organic waste as worm feed, and utilizing the remaining combustion as material for paving. This shows how Al-Ghazali’s ecosufism theory is implemented in waste management and can effectively reduce the impact of natural damage.Contribution: This research contributes to overcoming natural damage by applying al-Ghazali’s ecosufism theory and combining it with ecological principles. It can be one of the effective ways to offer a sustainable ecological management model that can be widely adopted to overcome environmental problems that modern humans face today
Dynamics of proton tunneling in Hydrogen-Bonded systems through Green's function formalism
This study proposes a new theoretical model based on Green's function formalism for studying proton tunneling via hydrogen bonding. This approach allows calculating the tunneling probability and the tunneling energy that proton transfer occurs along a given path inferred a priori. The method is extended to multiple protons tunneling, characterizing the behaviour of some biological molecules. Specifically, the cases of the proton transfer in the Fujicurin A molecule and the double proton tunneling in the Guanine-Cytosine base-pair are investigated. The new approach is an alternative to those present in the literature. It allows straightforwardly predicting the mechanisms of intramolecular and intermolecular proton transfers involving the rearrangement of conjugated electrons
Structure and morphology absorber material base on Iron Sand with SiO_2 fortification from water hyacinth
Electromagnetic radar technology has become integral in various innovations, such as military, air navigation, and weather monitoring. However, the ability of radar to detect objects accurately creates vulnerability to detection by other parties, raising security and confidentiality issues. Therefore, the development of electromagnetic absorber material technology is becoming increasingly important, especially in the military. One promising effort is using smart magnetic pigments as electromagnetic wave absorber materials. This material can be synthesized from metal waste and iron sand, which have high permeability and permittivity. However, synthesizing effective and economical smart magnetic materials is still challenging. Iron sand is one of the potentially abundant material solutions. This study aims to synthesize and characterize smart magnetic pigments ( ) from iron sand and silica ( ) from water hyacinth ash as electromagnetic wave absorber materials. The methods used include the extraction of silica from water hyacinth by a slow heating method at high temperatures and the synthesis of magnetite from iron sand by the coprecipitation method. The resulting material was then composited into an Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) matrix and tested for electromagnetic wave absorption. The developed composite material has a porous structure (3.63 µm, porosity 15.746%) with synergistic properties between dielectric and ferromagnetic. The Si-O-Si and Fe-O functional groups (FTIR) and the crystal phases , Cristobalite, and Butlerite (XRD) strengthen the material interactions. This combination of characteristics proves that the composite material can absorb and dampen electromagnetic waves
