Evaluation of Paederia foetida L. Extract on Liver Weight Alterations in an Escherichia coli Sepsis Mouse Model
Sepsis is a critical medical condition caused by a systemic immune response to infection and is often associated with severe organ dysfunction and high mortality. Bacterial sepsis, including cases triggered by Escherichia coli, can damage host tissues as the immune response becomes dysregulated. Infections involving E. coli in the digestive tract have become increasingly common. Among the affected organs, the liver plays a key role in metabolic regulation and host defense during sepsis. This study investigated the effect of Paederia foetida L. leaf extract on liver weight in a murine sepsis model. Introducing E. coli induces systemic infection and establishes the sepsis model, a commonly used approach in experimental studies to mimic the clinical features of sepsis. After acclimation, mice received treatments for 14 days across several groups: a normal control (N), a negative control (K–) given distilled water, a positive control (K+) given ciprofloxacin, and three treatment groups receiving P. foetida extract at 100 mg/kg BW (P1), 300 mg/kg BW (P2), and 500 mg/kg BW (P3). The analysis revealed significant differences among groups, with the highest mean liver weight recorded in P1 (1.3750 ± 0.3932). Liver abnormalities included enlargement, increased organ mass, swelling, and thickening of one liver lobe, which may reflect heightened hepatic workload during infection and toxin clearance. Interestingly, the normal group showed greater liver weight than several treatment groups, possibly due to fatty accumulation within hepatic tissue, which can influence overall organ mass
SAFEnet and Civil Society Dynamics in Expanding Digital Public Space in Indonesia
The rapid advancement of digital technologies has fundamentally transformed the landscape of civil society advocacy, particularly in the defence of digital rights in Indonesia. This study examines the evolving role of SAFEnet (Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network), a prominent civil society organization committed to protecting digital freedoms. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research explores SAFEnet’s strategic responses, structural challenges, and advocacy outcomes through comprehensive literature analysis and thematic interpretation. The findings reveal that SAFEnet has transcended its initial function as a policy watchdog, emerging as a facilitator of digital public discourse, a provider of legal assistance, and a cross-sectoral coalition builder advancing the rights to freedom of expression, data privacy, and digital justice. Its integrated advocacy model encompasses social media mobilization, digital literacy campaigns, policy engagement, and the innovative use of technology to amplify civic participation. Despite operating within a restrictive regulatory environment characterized by censorship and the criminalization of dissent, SAFEnet has demonstrated adaptive resilience and strategic innovation in expanding the digital public sphere and promoting democratic engagement. This study contributes to the discourse on digital civil society by critically mapping a localized advocacy model and by reinforcing the theoretical relevance of network society and public sphere frameworks in the context of Indonesia’s evolving digital democracy
The role of mediator and moderator variables in suicidal ideation among adolescents in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Adolescent mental health is influenced by resilience, which is defined as the ability to face challenges. Low resilience renders adolescents vulnerable to loneliness due to limited social support, which in turn heightens the risk of suicidal ideation. Social support can bolster resilience while mitigating the negative effects of loneliness; however, research positioning resilience as a mediator and social support as a moderator in this relationship remains limited, particularly among adolescents in high-risk areas such as Gunungkidul. This study aims to explore the role of resilience as a mediator and social support as a moderator in the relationship between loneliness and suicidal ideation. A quantitative cross-sectional correlational method was employed, together with a cluster random sampling technique. The sample comprised 420 students, consisting of 308 females and 112 males. The data collection technique used a social support scale, a resilience scale, and a suicidal ideation scale. The data were analyzed through a series of path analyses with the causal step method and MRA. Social support is shown to significantly moderate the direct effect of loneliness on resilience (p = .006 < .05), which indicates that social support increases. However, such support is unable to moderate the direct effect of resilience on suicidal ideation (p = .196 > .05), nor of loneliness on suicidal ideation (p = .338 > .05). The mediation effect test shows that loneliness does not have a significant effect on suicidal ideation when the resilience variable is controlled (p = .185 > .05). Regression model 2 in the mediation effect test indicates that only resilience has a significant effect on suicidal ideation (-.184 p < .05). The implications of the study include the understanding that suicidal ideation will be lower if accompanied by a decrease in loneliness and an increase in resilience and social support
Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Intervention and Nutrition Education in A Patient With Hypertension: A Case Report
Hypertension is a leading cause of mortality worldwide. The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet is a recommended nutritional intervention to help control blood pressure through sodium restriction and increased intake of potassium, fiber, fruits, and vegetables. This case report aimed to describe the implementation of a DASH diet intervention combined with nutrition education in a hypertensive patient. A 59-year-old female client with a history of hypertension and obesity (BMI 35.6 kg/m²) presented with a baseline blood pressure of 151/92 mmHg and an unbalanced dietary pattern. Nutritional assessment identified excessive energy and sodium intake, as well as inadequate fruit consumption. The intervention consisted of a hypocaloric DASH diet with a 500-kcal energy deficit and high-fiber menu modification, implemented over a short intervention period of five days, accompanied by nutrition education using leaflet media. Following the intervention, blood pressure decreased from 151/92 mmHg to 123/83 mmHg, while body weight slightly decreased from 84.4 kg to 84.1 kg. In addition, the nutrition knowledge score improved from 60 to 90. Although the intervention duration was short, these changes indicate a positive short-term response to the DASH diet and nutrition education. In conclusion, a short-term DASH diet intervention combined with nutrition education may provide preliminary benefits in improving blood pressure, dietary behavior, and nutrition knowledge in hypertensive patients. However, longer-term interventions are required to confirm sustained clinical effects
Protein Quality of Legume-Based Milk Pudding as an Alternative Snack for Malnourished Toddlers
Malnutrition in early childhood can hinder children’s development and their potential in their upcoming productive ages. The prevalence of wasting among children under five in Indonesia was 7.4% in 2025. This study developed a complementary feeding product in the form of milk pudding with the addition of mung beans, soybeans, and red beans. The study aimed to analyze the protein content, protein digestibility, and acceptability of the legume-based milk pudding. A completely randomized design (CRD) was used, consisting of treatment groups with the addition of mung beans, soybeans, and red beans (F1, F2, F3) and a control group (FK). Each treatment group was replicated twice, resulting in a total of eight experimental units. The results showed that pudding F2, with the addition of 120 g mung beans, 60 g soybeans, and 120 g red beans, had the highest total protein content (2.80%) and a protein digestibility value of 61.86%. There was a significant difference among groups in total protein content (P = 0.002), but no significant difference in protein digestibility (P = 0.834). The highest acceptance value was found in pudding F3, with color, aroma, texture, and taste scores ranging from 3.13 to 3.80. There were no differences among groups in aroma, taste, and texture (P > 0.05), whereas color showed significant differences among treatment groups (P = 0.001). Milk pudding with mung beans, soybeans, and red beans can serve as an alternative local snack food, contributing approximately 12.25% to the daily protein requirements of toddlers

Unveiling spiritual violence: A critical discourse analysis of the Bidaah series
This study examines the construction of spiritual violence in the Malaysian psychological religious drama series Bidaah through Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach. Within the context of religious societies vulnerable to ideological domination based on religion, the series illustrates how religious discourse is employed as an instrument for legitimizing power and social control. This qualitative study uses purposive sampling to analyze eight selected scenes from five episodes containing dialogues and symbolic representations of religious authority within the fictional group Jihad Ummah. The textual analysis focuses on diction, sentence structure, modality, metaphor, and ideological presupposition to reveal the mechanisms of reproducing symbolic and epistemic violence that silence criticism and affirm the absolute authority of religious figures. The findings show that Bidaah not only represents religious violence narratively but also depicts social practices involving symbolic and structural violence that reflect the realities of religious conflict and polarization in Indonesia and Malaysia. This study contributes to a critical understanding of the relationship between language, power, and ideology in media, while opening space for reflection on repressive and exclusive religious practices in modern society.

The Protective Effect Of Rambutan Honey On Macroscopic And Microscopic Examination Of Pancreas Rattus norvegicus Induced By Traditional Alcoholic Beverages Ciu
The traditional ciu alcoholic beverages is a drink made from distilled sap and sticky tape. Ciu is a type of drink that has an alcohol content of 25%. Alcoholic beverages will be toxic if consumed in excess. The pancreas is one of the organs that undergoes a process of damage when toxicmaterials or metabolites accumulate in the organ. Rambutan honey is a natural ingredient that contains flavonoid compounds. Flavonoids act as antioxidants which can reduce damage to pancreatic cells due to toxic substances. The aim of this study was to determine the protective effect of rambutan honey on the macroscopic and microscopic examination of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by traditional ciu alcohol. This research is experimental with 5 treatment groups including 1 control normal, 1 control negative and 4 ciu and honey treatments. Pancreatic tissue was observed macroscopically for color and texture. Microscopic observations were observed in the form of degeneration and necrosis. The microscopic results showed that there was a color difference between the control group and the alcohol-induced honey treatment group. The results of microscopic observations were known to show degeneration and necrosis in the positive group and the treatment group. The results of the study based on the ANOVA test obtained <0.05. Based on the Anova test and Duncan test it can be concluded that rambutan honey has a protective effect on the pancreatic histopathology of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) in the form of normal cells and degenerated cells in groups K2 and K
Innovation in halal packaging and labeling to enhance Indonesian processed food export performance
This study examines the role of packaging innovation and halal labeling in increasing the selling value of Indonesian traditional processed food products for export markets in the Middle East. As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia has significant potential to strengthen its position in the global halal industry, particularly in the food sector. This article aims to analyze how packaging innovation through modern, functional, and culturally appropriate designs, along with the presence of a trusted halal label, can increase product competitiveness in the international market. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with a literature study approach and analysis of previous research results. The results show that packaging innovation not only functions to protect and preserve products but also serves as a communication medium that conveys product identity and quality. Furthermore, the halal label serves as a symbol of trust that guarantees compliance with sharia principles and international standards, thereby increasing consumer confidence. The synergy between innovative packaging and a trusted halal label creates a significant competitive advantage, enabling Indonesian traditional food products to penetrate the premium halal market segment in the Middle East. This study concludes that effective collaboration between producers, the government, and certification bodies is crucial to optimizing the export potential of the Indonesian halal industry
