    Forecasting the unemployment rate in West Java Province using VARX and SVR methods

    This study discusses the forecasting of the Open Unemployment Rate (OUR) in West Java Province using two time series approaches: Vector Autoregressive with Exogenous variables (VARX) and Support Vector Regression (SVR). The dataset consists of monthly observations from 2018 to 2023, including variables such as OUR, the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR), Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and the Human Development Index (HDI). Based on the optimal lag selection using the AIC, the VARX model produced the best lag configuration of (5,2), consisting of five lags for endogenous variables and two for exogenous variables. Meanwhile, the SVR model was developed through Grid Search to find the best parameter combination, resulting in a linear kernel with  and . The evaluation results showed that the SVR model performed better than VARX, with MSE, RMSE, and MAPE values of 0.24, 0.49, and 6%, respectively, lower than those of the VARX model, which reached 0.68, 0.82, and 8.4%. SVR was selected as the best model and used to forecast the OUR until the end of 2025. The forecast results indicated a spike in OUR at the beginning of 2024 at 8.52%, followed by a declining trend that continues and stabilizes in the range of 7.96%-8.12% by the end of 2025. In conclusion, SVR outperforms VARX in predictive accuracy, while VARX remains useful for analyzing inter-variable relationships

    Evaluating surface water and groundwater quality parameters in the Karst Mining Zone, Gunungkidul for environmental risk mitigation

    This study aims to characterize the physical, chemical, and microbiological water parameters of the Oya River (Bleberan Playen) and groundwater in the CV Kusuma Arga monitoring well, located in the white stone mining zone, Ponjong District, Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The importance of this research is driven by the lack of comprehensive water quality data in active karst mining areas and the potential environmental and health risks associated with contamination. Parameters tested included temperature, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), turbidity, pH, nitrite, ammonia, chloride, sulfate, detergents, dissolved iron, dissolved lead, dissolved copper, dissolved cadmium, dissolved manganese, dissolved nickel, total coliform, and fecal coliform. Testing methods referred to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and Standard Methods, including the use of atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) for heavy metal analysis and the membrane filter method for microbiology. The test results showed that most physical and chemical water parameters from both sources met the relevant quality standards. For example, the well water temperature of 27°C and well water pH of 6.9 were both declared to be by standards. However, analysis showed lead concentrations (0.1 mg/l in the river) and cadmium (0.010 mg/l in the river) exceeding World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations for drinking water, although initially categorized as "appropriate". Furthermore, total coliform (3000-5000 MPN/100ml) and fecal coliform (4000-4500 MPN/100ml) concentrations in both samples were very high, clearly indicating a health-risking fecal contamination, despite also being declared "appropriate" in the report. The role of Environmental Engineering science is crucial in sample collection, laboratory analysis, and interpretation of this data. This study contributes to the understanding of water quality in areas affected by mining activities and emphasizes the need for further evaluation for sustainable environmental management

    This study analyzes the Arabic language textbook for seventh grade authored by Hasan Saefulloh through a multimodal approach. This study is grounded in the recognition that textbooks continue to serve as one of the principal media for language instruction, yet their visual and textual integration is often less than optimal. The study employs a qualitative content analysis method using systemic functional linguistics (SFL) and multimodal discourse analysis by Kress and van Leeuwen. Data were drawn from selected pages of the textbook that contain prominent multimodal elements, including vocabulary lists, dialogues, illustrations, and page layouts. The findings reveal three major points. First, the book presents basic Arabic learning materials but the integration between texts, images, and layouts is still weak. Second, the multimodal elements often work in isolation without forming a cohesive meaning. Third, the lack of balance between visual and verbal representations may limit students’ comprehension and engagement. This research concludes that the textbook needs improvement in its design and organization, particularly in aligning verbal and visual modes to support effective Arabic learning. This study contributes to the enhancement of multimodal awareness in Arabic textbook design, offering insights for teachers, authors, and curriculum developers to produce more pedagogically integrated materials

    Relationship between Critical Thinking Skills and Creative Thinking Skills with the Biology Learning Outcomes of Grade XI Students at UPT SMAN 1 Wajo

    This study aims to determine the relationship between critical thinking skills and creative thinking skills with the biology learning outcomes of grade XI students at UPT SMAN 1 Wajo.  This study is based on the demands of 21st century learning, which emphasizes the development of higher-order thinking skills, such as critical and creative thinking, in biology lessons. This study used a descriptive-quantitative method. The research population consisted of 11th grade students at UPT SMAN 1 Wajo, and the sample was taken using purposive sampling of 31 students. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between critical thinking skills and creative thinking skills with students' biology learning outcomes, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a correlation coefficient value of 0.972, which is classified as a very strong correlation. This study concluded that simultaneously, higher critical thinking skills and creative thinking skills play an important role in improving students' biology learning outcomes

    Unexpected shift in marital relationship: Stress and coping strategies among single mothers in Nigeria

    Purpose – This study investigated the unexpected shift in marital relationships: stress and coping strategies among single mothers in Nigeria. This category of people has been neglected in the background in the scheme of events in Nigeria, and it is alarming that this neglect affects the mental health of single mothers. Method – This qualitative research adopted an interpretive research paradigm. Data were gathered from fifteen (15) single mothers using semi-structured interviews between November 2024 and February 2025. Collected data was deductively analysed based on recurring themes relating to stress and coping strategies of single mothers who were once in a marital relationship. Result – The study found that financial constraints, stigmatization, disinheritance, and assault were the major stressors confronting the well-being of single mothers in Nigeria. In a bid to cope with the breasting adversities negatively affecting single mothers, this study found the exploration of formal and informal support networks, faith-based religious support, remarriage, and seeking therapeutic intervention as coping mechanisms employed by single mothers. Implication – The government, psychologists/therapists, and relevant stakeholders raise awareness of the availability of counselling services that can assist single mothers in overcoming unexpected challenges. Originality/Value – This study considers single mothers living in remote areas, unemployed, on low incomes, and engaged in menial work. By addressing this knowledge gap, professional counsellors, scholars, religious groups, government support groups, Non-governmental organisations, tiers of government, single mothers, and policymakers will greatly benefit from this study. *** Tujuan – Studi ini menyelidiki pergeseran tak terduga dalam hubungan pernikahan: stres dan strategi penanggulangan di kalangan ibu tunggal di Nigeria. Kelompok masyarakat ini telah diabaikan dalam skema peristiwa di Nigeria, dan mengkhawatirkan bahwa pengabaian ini berdampak pada kesehatan mental ibu tunggal. Metode – Penelitian kualitatif ini mengadopsi paradigma penelitian interpretatif. Data dikumpulkan dari lima belas (15) ibu tunggal melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur antara November 2024 dan Februari 2025. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis secara deduktif berdasarkan tema-tema yang berulang terkait stres dan strategi koping ibu tunggal yang pernah berada dalam hubungan pernikahan. Hasil – Studi ini menemukan bahwa kendala finansial, stigmatisasi, pengucilan warisan, dan kekerasan merupakan faktor stres utama yang mengancam kesejahteraan ibu tunggal di Nigeria. Dalam upaya mengatasi kesulitan yang berdampak negatif pada ibu tunggal, studi ini menemukan bahwa eksplorasi jaringan dukungan formal dan informal, dukungan keagamaan berbasis keyakinan, pernikahan kembali, dan mencari intervensi terapeutik merupakan mekanisme koping yang digunakan oleh ibu tunggal. Implikasi – Pemerintah, psikolog/terapis, dan pemangku kepentingan terkait perlu meningkatkan kesadaran tentang ketersediaan layanan konseling yang dapat membantu ibu tunggal mengatasi tantangan tak terduga. Orisinalitas/Nilai – Studi ini mempertimbangkan ibu tunggal yang tinggal di daerah terpencil, pengangguran, berpenghasilan rendah, dan bekerja di bidang pekerjaan kasar. Dengan mengatasi kesenjangan pengetahuan ini, konselor profesional, akademisi, kelompok agama, kelompok dukungan pemerintah, organisasi non-pemerintah, tingkatan pemerintah, ibu tunggal, dan pembuat kebijakan akan sangat diuntungkan dari studi ini

    Permainan balok dapat digunakan untuk anak usia 4-5 tahun mengeksplorasi dan mengembangkan kemampuan kognitif dalam konsep matematika dan geometri dalam pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di PAUD Bina Bangsa Islamic School Serang Banten dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini tertuju pada anak usia 4-5 tahun Tk A di PAUD Bina Bangsa Islamic School Serang Banten. Permainan balok sangat membantu menstimulasi perkembangan kognitif anak usia 4-5 tahun di PAUD Bina Bangsa Islamic School Serang Banten, anak 4-5 tahun dapat mengenal bentuk geometri, anak 4-5 tahun juga dapat mengingat, memahami, menerapkan, mengenalisis, mengevaluasi dan mencipta atau mengembangkan kegiatan bermain balok tersebut, anak 4-5 tahun dapat melakukan pemecahan masalah, berpikir kritis, dan melakukan inovasi baru pada saat bermain dengan media balok, dengan kegiatan bermain balok perkembangan kognitif anak 4-5 tahun dapat terstimulasi dengan baik dengan merancang bangunan balok sesuai dengan hasil kreativitasnya sendiri, selain itu, setiap tema yang guru berikan pada setiap pembelajaran media balok, dapat menambah wawasan baru anak 4-5 tahun di PAUD Bina Bangsa Islamic School Serang Banten

    Penerapan Metode Mendongeng Cerita Rakyat untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Kepercayaan Diri Anak Usia 4-5 Tahun

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses penerapan, strategi, metode evaluasi pengajaran kegiatan dongeng cerita rakyat untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi langsung, wawancara terstruktur dan dokumentasi. Subyek penelitiannya adalah Anak PAUD dan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1)proses penerapan  dongeng yaitu guru membacakan dongeng, anak-anak menyimak, lalu dilanjutkan sesi tanya jawab, 2)strategi dongeng yang diterapkan yaitu pemilihan cerita yang dekat dengan kehidupan anak, mengajak anak menebak alur cerita, berbagi pengalaman serupa, serta memanfaatkan media buku cerita untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri anak, 3)metode dongeng yaitu ceramah dan tanya jawab, sedangkan evaluasi dilakukan melalui lembar observasi. Berdasarkan hasil observasi terlihat adanya perubahan yang cukup signifikan, indikator pantang menyerah, berani mengemukakan pendapat, dan berpenampilan tenang meningkat menjadi berkembang sesuai harapan, sedangkan indikator berani bertanya serta mengutamakan usaha sendiri mengalami peningkatan lebih tinggi menjadi berkembang sangat bai

    Assessing the effectiveness of information literacy integration in secondary school subjects: Perspectives from librarians

    Purpose. This study examines the role of school librarians in promoting information literacy in secondary schools within a metropolitan city. It highlights the importance of information literacy, which involves the ability to access, evaluate, and use information effectively. Methodology. The research, using qualitative interviews with librarians from six selected local government areas, investigates how librarians support teachers and enhance educational outcomes. Key research areas include methods used by librarians to determine teachers' information needs, the extent of consultation with teachers on new acquisitions, how librarians inform teachers about available resources, and the adequacy and usage frequency of library resources. Results and discussion. The findings reveal varying levels of librarian engagement, with some actively collaborating with teachers and others taking a more passive approach. Challenges identified include time constraints and resource inadequacies. Conclusions. The study emphasizes the need for better communication and resource management to support information literacy. Despite recognizing its importance, gaps exist in understanding effective librarian practices for empowering teachers and students. Recommendations include fostering librarian-teacher collaboration, updating resource collections, and increasing awareness of available resources to enhance their use in education

    Persuasive Da'wah Approach from the Perspective of the Qur'an

    Persuasive da’wah is an approach that emphasizes gentleness, wisdom, and exemplary conduct in conveying Islamic teachings. This paper aims to explore the concept, foundation, and implementation of persuasive da’wah from the perspective of the Qur’an. This study employs a library research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach, which involves tracing, collecting, and analyzing primary sources in the form of verses from the Al-Qur’an and scholarly interpretations (tafsir), as well as secondary sources in the form of literature on the science of da'wah and Islamic communication. This paper examines Qur’anic verses that serve as the basis for persuasive da’wah, including Surah An-Nahl (16:125), Ali Imran (3:159), and Thaha (20:43–44). The findings reveal that the Qur’an emphasizes that da’wah should be carried out with hikmah (wisdom), mau‘izhah hasanah (good advice), and mujādalah billatī hiya ahsan (dialogue in the best manner). These principles affirm that da’wah is not merely the transmission of religious messages but a process of touching hearts and fostering spiritual awareness without coercion. In the context of modern society, persuasive da’wah is increasingly relevant as it promotes humanistic, dialogical, and contextual communication. Through this approach, da’wah serves not only as a means of spreading Islamic teachings but also as a medium for nurturing moral, social, and humanitarian values in accordance with the spirit of Islam as rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a mercy to all creation)

    Review of Sharia Economic Law on Sharia Venture Capital Financing in the Digital Economy Sector

    Abstract The rapid growth of the digital economy in Indonesia has created an increasingly urgent need for innovative financing models that are in line with sharia principles. Sharia venture capital, based on the principles of Musyarakah and Mudharabah contracts, offers a fair and riba-free financing alternative for digital startup s. This study aims to analyze how sharia venture capital regulations are applied in Indonesia's digital economy sector and identify the challenges faced by startup s in accessing sharia-based financing. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with legal-normative analysis, involving a review of relevant literature on existing regulations, such as the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Regulation No. 35/POJK.05/2015 and the DSN-MUI Fatwa, as well as previous studies. The results of the study show that although regulations are in place, the implementation of sharia venture capital still faces various obstacles, such as low sharia financial literacy, limited applicable legal standards, and high risks for startup s. This study concludes that to optimize the potential of sharia venture capital in supporting the digital economy, it is necessary to strengthen regulations, improve sharia financial literacy, and develop better human resource (HR) capacity
