Effect of Bekatewak Flour on Fasting Blood Glucose Levels (Study on Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Rats Fed a High-Fat Diet)

    Get PDF
High-fat diet (HFD) causes oxidative stress, which is a trigger for insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus. The provision of foods rich in antioxidants, such as rice bran, tempeh, and Javanese ginger, is needed to reduce oxidative stress. This study aimed to determine the effect of giving Bekatewak (a combination of rice bran, tempeh, and Javanese ginger) flour on fasting blood glucose levels of type 2 diabetes mellitus rats induced by HFD. This study was true experimental research using a pre- and post-test randomized controlled group design with a total of 18 rats as samples. There were three groups: the negative control group (K-), the positive control group (K+), and the treatment group (P). The study results showed a significant difference in fasting blood glucose levels before and after the administration of Bekatewak flour at a dose of 540 mg/200 g/bodyweight (p<0.05). There were significant differences in fasting blood glucose levels after intervention between K- and K+, K- and P, and K+ and P groups (p<0.001). Bekatewak flour has the potential to be developed as a functional food based on natural antioxidants to help control blood glucose levels and prevent insulin resistance caused by a high-fat diet

Phonetic problems in Arabic are classic problems studied since the age of Al-Khalil bin Ahmed Al-Farahidi (d. 170 AH). This science is still being studied and developed to this day and has even become something that cannot be separated from linguistics. Ibn Taymiyah was an expert in religious knowledge who paid great attention to sound and its meaning. On this basis, through the use of semantic descriptive analysis, this research seeks to collect opinions regarding the meaning of sounds and at the same time compare them with what ancient and contemporary phonetic scholars have put forward regarding this issue. Among the results obtained from this research is the correspondence between the sounds in Arabic and the meaningThe phonetic intensity of a sound corresponds to the semantic intensity of its meaning, and vice versa. This study is really needed by Arabic language students, because some of them have difficulty memorizing Arabic vocabulary which is so large and cannot be distinguished from one another except by just one letter or just one vowel. Not only that, it is hoped that this research can contribute to knowledge on the topic of discussing semantics and phonetics

    Get PDF
In the era of digital transformation, education increasingly demands innovative pedagogical approaches that not only enhance language proficiency but also cultivate students’ critical thinking skills. This study explores how Kahoot gamification supports the development of critical thinking in Arabic listening comprehension. The research employed a qualitative approach with a single instrumental case study design to examine the integration of Kahoot-based learning activities and their cognitive outcomes. Data were collected through participant observation, documentation, and interviews involving 39 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Sharia, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, class of 2024. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman to identify indicators of critical thinking based on Facione’s six dimensions: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The findings revealed that Kahoot gamification was implemented through four learning activities: song playback, simple dialogue, short film, and short story. Each activity stimulated distinct aspects of critical thinking, with song and short film activities generating the most active responses. The study suggests that Kahoot gamification may serve as an effective pedagogical tool to foster engagement and higher-order thinking in Arabic listening instruction, particularly for beginner-level learners

    Get PDF
Cadmium contamination of paddy soils is a global concern because Cd can accumulate in rice through nutrient absorption, posing a food safety risk. More than a quarter of the Tallo watershed area, Makassar is a rice field that is vulnerable to pollution due to industrial activities and water runoff from urban areas. This study aims to isolate and identify Cd-resistant bacteria from paddy field soils in the Tallo watershed to find potential isolates that have the potential for bioremediation. The soil samples collected were from the rhizosphere of rice fields in the Tallo watershed, which were varying distances from the Tallo Main River. Bacterial isolation used nutrient agar media, followed by Cd resistance testing using Nutrient Agar-CdCl₂ media with increasing concentrations from 10 mg L-1 to 110 mg L-1. Molecular identification was carried out on the most Cd-tolerant isolates using the 16S rRNA marker gene with primers 27F and 1492R. From the isolation, 22 isolates were obtained, with 19 isolates resistant to CdCl2 10 mg L-1; Only five isolates could continue growing at a concentration of 100 mg L-1, and only one isolate could grow up to a concentration of 110 mg L-1; the isolate was L1(4). The isolate L1(4) exhibited the best growth and was identified as Aeromonas veronii through 16S rRNA gene sequencing. These findings highlight Aeromonas veronii as a promising candidate for the bioremediation of Cd-contaminated soils in the Tallo watershe

Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk: overcoming social disparities in Indonesia

    Get PDF
Indonesia faces persistent socioeconomic inequalities in healthcare, education, and economic participation despite its high human development potential, exacerbated by fiscal constraints limiting government-led solutions. This article examines the role of Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk (CWLS) –an innovative Islamic social finance instrument– in addressing these disparities by analyzing its implementation challenges and sectoral impacts. Using a qualitative case study approach with secondary data from government reports, regulatory documents, and national statistics, the research reveals that CWLS has successfully funded healthcare infrastructure (e.g., retina and glaucoma centers), educational scholarships, and agricultural empowerment programs. However, its potential remains underutilized due to low public trust, regional participation imbalances, and misalignment with critical needs such as cancer treatment facilities, rural school infrastructure, and tourism-based economic development. The study contributes to policy and practice by proposing three interventions: (1) targeted CWLS yield distribution to high-impact sectors, (2) enhanced transparency and nazhir (waqf manager) competency, and (3) public awareness campaigns to broaden participation. These findings offer a model for Muslim-majority countries seeking to leverage Islamic finance for equitable development

Integrating the value of honesty into the analysis of coal prices, exchange rates, and export profitability in Indonesia (2019–2023)

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the influence of coal prices and rupiah exchange rates on the profitability of Indonesian coal exports in 2019–2023. Using panel data and quantitative methods, this study makes export profitability as a dependent variable, while coal prices and rupiah exchange rates are independent variables. Data was obtained from official sources such as the Direktorat Jenderal Mineral dan Batubara, the Badan Pusat Statistic (BPS), and the company’s financial statements on the Indonesia Stock Exchange with a population of data, namely the reference coal price listed on the BPS for the 2019-2023 period and the selected sample in the form of data from 8 companies within a period of 5 years. Panel data regression analysis was used to find out how coal prices and exchange rates affect the profitability of coal exports in Indonesia. The results of the study show that coal prices have a positive and significant effect on export profitability, while the rupiah exchange rate does not have a significant impact because the majority of transactions use US dollars. These findings provide insight for policymakers in maintaining the stability of the coal export sector amid global market dynamics

The influence of fanaticism and financial literacy on consumptive behavior with self-control as a moderating variable: a study on K-pop fans in Salatiga

    Get PDF
This study investigates the influence of fanaticism and financial literacy on consumptive behavior among K-pop fans in Salatiga, with self-control as a moderating variable. The research was motivated by the growing phenomenon of excessive consumption driven by fandom culture, particularly among youth influenced by K-pop idols. The purpose of the study is to analyze how emotional attachment (fanaticism) and financial awareness (financial literacy) shape individual spending patterns, and to determine whether self-control can mitigate impulsive consumption tendencies. A quantitative approach was applied, involving 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS version 25 through classical assumption tests, t-tests, and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The findings reveal that fanaticism significantly and positively affects consumptive behavior, while financial literacy has a significant negative effect. Furthermore, self-control moderates the relationship between fanaticism and consumptive behavior, indicating that higher self-control can reduce the influence of fanaticism on impulsive spending. However, self-control does not moderate the effect of financial literacy, suggesting that financially literate individuals already exercise sufficient self-regulation in managing expenses. These results highlight the complex interaction between emotional and cognitive factors in shaping consumer behavior. The study contributes to Islamic behavioral economics by emphasizing the importance of moderation and self-control as ethical principles guiding financial responsibility. It also provides practical implications for educators and policymakers in promoting financial literacy and emotional awareness among young consumers.

From Immersion to Impulse: The Trust Buiding Journey in Digital Commerce

Despite the rapid expansion of digital commerce in Indonesia’s cosmetics sector, the mechanisms through which immersive digital experiences shape consumer decision-making remain insufficiently understood, particularly with respect to the interaction between trust formation and tactile preferences. Addressing this gap, the present study investigates how multidimensional immersive experiences influence impulse buying behavior through the mediating role of trust, while considering need for touch as a moderating factor. Immersive experience is conceptualized through three dimensions that are increasingly prevalent in digital cosmetic marketing, namely augmented reality virtual try-on, live streaming commerce, and social media marketing activities. Employing a cross-sectional research design, data were collected from 451 Indonesian consumers aged 18 to 40 years who had purchased international cosmetic brands via digital platforms within the previous six months. The proposed hypotheses were tested using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The findings indicate that all three immersive dimensions significantly enhance consumer trust, with social media marketing exerting the strongest influence, followed by live streaming commerce and augmented reality virtual try-on. Trust, in turn, has a positive and significant effect on impulse buying behavior. Importantly, the results reveal that need for touch negatively moderates the relationship between trust and impulse buying, suggesting that consumers with higher tactile preferences tend to engage in greater purchase deliberation despite elevated levels of trust. The structural model demonstrates strong explanatory power for both trust and impulse buying. This study contributes to the literature by operationalizing immersive experience as a multidimensional construct and identifying tactile preference as a critical boundary condition in digital consumption contexts. From a practical perspective, the findings offer strategic insights for international cosmetic brands in tailoring digital marketing approaches that align with consumers’ sensory orientations in emerging markets such as Indonesia

Social Assistance Policies Amid the 2024 Presidential Election Contestation: An Islamic Political Economy Perspective

    Get PDF
This research examines the dual function of social aid in Indonesia as a social safety net and as a political tool for the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election. This research used Fairclough's model of critical discourse analysis through the policymaking process of social assistance programmes, including articles in the online media, social aid (PKH, BPNT, KIP, and others), and the dynamics of public opinion from January to June 2024. The analysis of the data showed that in election years, the social aid budgets are increased. The social assistance is therefore politically motivated. However, these programmes help to some extent reduce poverty and improve access to education and health. Because of the political motivation, the assistance programmes lose their main social purpose. From the perspective of the Islamic political economy, the social assistance programmes should be based on maṣlaḥah al-‘āmmah. The underlying principle is the equitable social welfare of the people and the politically unmotivated equitable social wealth. This research demands that these assistance programmes and services be legally and politically unmotivated, and social welfare programmes be legally focused on the redistribution and social justice of the people, be oriented to the long-term social welfare of politically and legally unmotivated social welfare programmes

Transforming Mosque Sustainability: Leveraging Islamic Economics and Finance for Community Empowerment

    Get PDF
This research focuses on the shift in mosque empowerment models, particularly in terms of financial sustainability, rooted in Islamic economics and finance. By exploring the correlation of Islamic economics (Y), Islamic finance (Y), and mosque sustainability (Z), this research can utilize the mixed method approach of quantitative analysis to survey 200 congregation members, conduct in-depth interviews with five key informants, and employ PLS-SEM. This is the first mosque sustainability performance study to provide a quantitative analysis, along with PLS-SEM, and to correlate finance and economics in the Islamic context. Findings indicate that Islamic finance intermediates the influence of Islamic economics on mosque sustainability (indirect β=0.527; p<0.001). Islamic economics is explained to have a considerable direct influence on Islamic finance (β=0.782; p<0.001) as well as Islamic finance being the greatest contributor to mosque sustainability (β=0.673; p<0.001). This research affirms the four-dimensional sustainability pillar and the anticipation of mosque management to respond to the SDGs. This provided strong financial governance, partnership with Islamic banking, trained financial governance, and Islamic financial literacy courses
