Endophytic fungi from Parijoto (Medinilla speciosa) leaves and their potential as biocontrol agents against Corn Pest Larvae
Parijoto (Medinilla speciosa) leaves are widely used for their antimicrobial properties. Endophytic fungi from these leaves show potential as entomopathogenic agents against Helicoverpa armigera larvae, a moth pest of cotton and corn. The research activities conducted in the laboratory include the isolation and characterization of endophytic fungi, as well as entomopathogenic testing against H. armigera larvae using a spraying technique with endophytic fungal extracts. In this study, 5 isolates were obtained from leaves and assessed their entomopathogenic properties. The isolate code is EP1, EP2, EP3, EP4, EP5. Bioassays were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of these fungi in controlling H. armigera larvae. Among the tested fungi, EP5 demonstrated the highest entomopathogenic activity, significantly reducing the survival rate of the larvae. These findings indicate that EP5 holds substantial promise as a biocontrol agent for managing H. armigera populations with mortality percentage 30,78%, offering a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical pesticides. The study underscores the potential of utilizing endophytic fungi from parijoto leaves in integrated pest management strategies
Transformation of Papuan Independence Values: Looking at the Conflict in Papua through Post-secular Society Perspective
The evolution of Papuan independence values illustrates a historical transition from traditional cosmological beliefs, linking freedom to ancestors, land, and nature, to modern political aspirations. Influences from missionary education, colonial governance, and contemporary political systems have reshaped these values, leading to the rise of ethnonationalist consciousness. This study aims to analyze how traditional religious conceptions of freedom shifted toward demands for political sovereignty within a post-secular social context. A qualitative exploratory approach was applied, using expert interviews with traditional leaders, religious figures, youth leaders, activists, and government officials in Manokwari and Jayawijaya, complemented by literature review and NVivo-assisted coding. The findings show that traditional religious values—expressed through rituals such as koreri—were secularized and reinterpreted as political symbols. This transformation strengthened Papuan ethnonationalism and contributed to prolonged conflict, especially after dissatisfaction with Penentuan Pendapat Rakyat (PEPERA) and the emergence of movements such as OPM. The study implies that understanding the Papuan conflict requires acknowledging the spiritual foundations of political aspirations
Multiple Aspirational Contestation of Islamic Mass Organization in Indonesia: A Study of Local Muhammadiyah in Metropolitan Jakarta’s Buffer City
Despite its peripheral position amid the rapid growth of Depok, a buffer city of Jakarta, an Islamic organization, Muhammadiyah, can still develop and contest both at the grassroots and social-urban levels. This article employs a multiple aspirational contestation framework to analyze Muhammadiyah in Depok as a case study. The research utilizes qualitative methodology through in-depth interviews and observations involving the organization’s members and administrators. The research findings demonstrate that Muhammadiyah in Depok can be categorized as either native- or migrant-patterned. The organizational structure of the movement is characterized by its grassroots level, the establishment of trans-local networks, and a vertical structure consisting of branches (organizing Muhammadiyah at the sub-district level) and regions (organizing Muhammadiyah at the city level). Consequently, Muhammadiyah has the capacity to organize itself within the locality and advocate for the socio-religious aspirations it upholds within the context of the dynamic urban-social milieu. The organization at such a local level also shows collective resilience and capacity to grow in the dynamic buffer city of Jakarta

Internalisasi Nilai-nilai Multikultural dalam Proses Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab di Pendidikan Tinggi
Although Arabic is the sacred language of the Qur’an and the key to understanding Islamic teachings, in Indonesia it is often misunderstood due to its association with socio-political issues. This study is significant in strengthening the values of tolerance, pluralism, and nationalism through an inclusive and humanistic Arabic language learning approach at Yudharta University Pasuruan (UYP), an Islamic boarding school–based university that upholds diversity. The aim of this research is to analyze the concept, implementation, and multicultural values internalized in Arabic language learning. The study employs a qualitative case study approach using interviews, moderate participant observation, and documentation, with data analyzed through condensation, presentation, and verification stages using source and technique triangulation. The findings show that the internalization of multicultural values at UYP is based on three main pillars: institutional policy, curriculum integration, and pesantren culture. Implementation is carried out through active and inclusive learning, value integration in assignments, and experiential field activities. The dominant values include tolerance, togetherness, equality, and cultural openness. This study produces the Multicultural Learning Ecosystem Model, illustrating that the internalization of values occurs simultaneously through structural, pedagogical, cultural, and experiential dimensions, serving as a model for multicultural-oriented Arabic language education
Interferensi Bahasa dan Upaya Intervensinya dalam Pengajaran Mahārah Kitābah
This study aims to analyze the dynamics of interference and intervention in Arabic writing learning within an Islamic boarding school context. Conducted longitudinally over three years with 24 students at Al-Izzah Integrated Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) in Batu City, this research employed a descriptive qualitative approach under the frameworks of Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) and Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). Data were collected through classroom observations, students’ writing analysis, and in-depth interviews with Arabic teachers. The findings reveal that linguistic interference is not merely a structural error but rather a manifestation of the developmental nature of learners’ interlanguage systems. Pedagogical interventions such as authentic writing tasks, cultural scaffolding, and reflective mentoring were proven effective in reducing syntactic, semantic, and orthographic interference. The study highlights that language learning is a dialectical interaction among linguistic, psychological, and cultural factors. Theoretically, this research reinforces the Dynamic Theory of Interference–Intervention (DTII) as a comprehensive framework for foreign language education, while practically emphasizing the importance of developmental and metalinguistic awareness-based instructional strategies
News coverage of the Palestinian conflict with Israel: A framing analysis of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack
One of the prolonged conflicts between Palestine and Israel has yet to find a solution. This study aims to explore Indonesian online media in framing news about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. It analyzes the factors that influence framing, public opinion, and foreign policy. This study uses qualitative research with a framing analysis approach. As for data collection techniques through observation, digital searches, news selection, and documentation. Data analysis uses Robert N. Entman's framing model, and data validity uses audit trails. The results show that Indonesian media frames the conflict with different emphases within a strong pro-Palestinian consensus. Kompas.com and CNBC Indonesia emphasize the cycle of structural violence, Liputan6.com focuses on the humanitarian tragedy, SINDOnews.com sees it as a geopolitical maneuver, and Metrotvnews.com sees it as a struggle for independence. Although varied, all media outlets show sympathy for Palestine with ambiguous diction for Hamas and encourage diplomatic solutions. This framing is shaped by a national consensus based on religious solidarity, anti-colonial identity, and alignment between public opinion, government policy, and media coverage. This study contributes to Islamic communication scholarship by showing how religious solidarity, justice, and anti-colonialism shape media framing and mediate the relationship between Muslim public opinion, state policy, and media discourse.

THE POTENTIAL OF CALANONE DERIVATIVES AS ANTILEUKEMIA AGENTS VIA AN IN SILICO APPROACH: MOLECULAR DOCKING AND MOLECULAR DYNAMICS ANALYSIS
Cancer, particularly leukemia, remains a major global health concern with a high mortality rate, necessitating the development of more effective and selective therapeutic agents. This study evaluated the potential of calanone derivatives as antileukemia agents using an in silico approach. The objectives were to (1) analyze the molecular docking interactions between predicted calanone derivatives and commercial leukemia drugs targeting the Bruton’s Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) receptor (PDB ID: 5P9J); (2) predict the ADMET properties (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity) of the calanone derivatives; and (3) compare the molecular dynamics analysis results of the predicted compounds with those of commercial drugs. The findings revealed that the predicted molecules, including Vaulina2 ((5-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-8-oxo-10-phenyl-2H,8H-pyrano[2,3-f]chromen-6-yl)(phenyl)methyl 2-amino-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-oxopropanoate)), Prediction1 ((8-amino-5-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-10-phenyl-2H,8H-pyrano[2,3-f]chromen-6-yl)(phenyl)methanediol)), Prediction2 (6-(dihydroxy(phenyl)methyl)-2,2-dimethyl-10-phenyl-2H,8H-pyrano[2,3-f]chromene-5,8-diol)), Prediction3 (2-amino-9,9-dimethyl-3,7-diphenyl-2,3-dihydro-5H,9H-furo[2,3-f]pyrano[2,3-h]chromen-5-ol)), and Prediction4 (4-(dihydroxy(8-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-5-oxo-10-phenyl-6,8-dihydro-2H,5H-pyrano[2,3-f]chromen-6-yl)methyl)benzoic acid)), demonstrated greater stability compared to the reference drug ibrutinib, with Gibbs free energy (ΔG) values of −11.25, −12.50, −10.83, −10.74, and −10.63 kcal/mol, respectively. All compounds also conformed to the predicted ADMET profiles. Molecular dynamics simulations indicated that Vaulina2, Prediction1, and Prediction2 exhibited superior performance based on Root-Mean-Square Deviation (RMSD), Root-Mean-Square Fluctuation (RMSF), Solvent-Accessible Surface Area (SASA), hydrogen bond occupancy, and Molecular Mechanics–Generalized Born Surface Area (MM-GBSA) parameters
The role of social disparity, religiosity, and technology adoption in shaping infaq intention in Indonesia
This study examines the influence of social disparity and asymmetric information on individuals’ intention to give infaq in Indonesia. The research aims to understand how socioeconomic status, religiosity, empathy, residential environment, and technology adoption shape infaq behavior in a digital context. Using a quantitative approach with multiple regression analysis on survey data, the study finds that income level, religiosity, and technology adoption significantly affect infaq intention, while cultural norms, empathy, and residential environment show no direct impact. Moreover, technology adoption mediates the relationship between residential environment and infaq intention, highlighting the growing importance of digital facilitation in charitable giving. These findings contribute to Islamic behavioral economics by revealing that infaq motivation is increasingly driven by internal religiosity and technological accessibility rather than traditional social influences. The study provides practical implications for policymakers and Islamic financial institutions to strengthen digital infrastructure, promote online infaq platforms, and enhance financial literacy to foster sustainable philanthropic participation
