Green Human Resource Management in Islamic Finance: A Systematic Review of Sustainability Strategies in Indonesia
This study investigates the implementation of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) within Indonesia’s Islamic finance industry through a systematic literature review of 375 academic publications from 2015 to 2024. Existing research has largely centered on conventional financial institutions, offering limited insight into GHRM’s role in the Islamic finance context. The review reveals that GHRM practices—such as green recruitment, sustainability training, and eco-friendly incentives—not only improve operational efficiency but also align with Maqasid al-Shariah objectives. FinTech integration further enhances green initiatives by increasing transparency and access in Islamic financial services. Nonetheless, regulatory limitations and inconsistent institutional support hinder broader adoption. A key recommendation is the introduction of Green Employee Sukuk: Shariah-compliant instruments issued by financial institutions to fund employee-led sustainability programs. Returns are tied to the performance of green investments, incentivizing employee engagement while reinforcing organizational environmental commitments. Strengthening regulatory frameworks and leveraging FinTech innovations are crucial for optimizing GHRM’s impact on sustainability in Indonesia’s Islamic finance sector
Capital Structure, Profitability and Corporate Value: The Moderation Effect of Corporate Social Responsibility in Indonesian Sharia Companies
This research explores the interactions among capital structure, profitability, and company value, with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) acting as a moderating factor. This investigation involves Sharia-compliant companies listed on the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) over the period from 2017 to 2022. Secondary data were collected from the annual reports of these companies. Employing a purposive sampling approach, the study analyzes a sample of 23 companies, yielding a total of 161 observations. To evaluate the data, moderated regression analysis was conducted using WarpPLS. The findings reveal that both capital structure and profitability exert a significant positive effect on company value, whereas CSR demonstrates an insignificant positive effect on company value. Moreover, CSR does not moderate the relationship between profitability and company value; however, CSR significantly moderates the relationship between capital structure and company value. These results highlight the critical role of capital structure and profitability in enhancing company value, particularly in the context of Sharia-compliant businesses, and contribute to both the growing body of literature and valuable insight for the supported stakeholders to optimize company performance
Managerial ownership and financial performance: empirical evidence of the application of sharia principles in Indonesia
Purpose - This study aims to examine the relationship between managerial ownership and financial performance through the aplication of sharia principles in Indonesia.
Method - This study uses a financial report sample from 380 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2021-2023 period. The estimation method used is Pooled OLS (CEM). We conducted the Durbin-Wu-Hausman (DWH) test to checking endogeneity issues. We also conduct a robustness test using Robust Least Square (RLS) to ensure the reability of our results.
Result - The results of this study indicate that managerial ownership has a positive effect on financial performance through the aplication of sharia principles. We found that the principle of amanah (trustworthiness) and maslahah (public interest) ensures that managerial decision-making is not only for personal benefit but also for the interests of shareholders. Additionally, we found that the principle of ta’awun (mutual benefit) and 'adl (justice) ensures that every decision and action between managerial ownership and shareholders is based on balance.
Implication - This study it highlights the need to formalize Sharia-based governance guidelines that limit excessive managerial ownership while mandating ethical decision-making transparency. For Islamic finance literature, it establishes Sharia Enterprise Theory as a viable extension of Sharia-based Agency Theory.
Originality - We integrate the Islamic perspective into managerial ownership by incorporating fundamental Islamic principles of accountability
Territory, Hilāl, and Sovereignty: Revisiting Indonesia’s Maṭla’ under MABIMS’ New Criteria
Differences in determining the start of the lunar month often spark polemics due to varying methods, schools of thought, and interpretations of maṭla’. Indonesia adopts a territorial-based maṭla’, yet inconsistencies remain in how its geographical boundaries are applied. Law No. 43/2008 defines Indonesia’s territory as including land, sea, and air, raising questions about the ideal scope of maṭla’ under the MABIMS Neo Visibility Criteria and its legal status. This qualitative study uses library research and expert interviews, analyzed through Islamic legal principles (ijtihād istiṣlāhī) and a juridical-normative framework. Findings show that Indonesia’s maṭla’ ideally includes all sovereign areas-land, inland waters, archipelagic waters, and territorial seas. From a syar’i perspective, crescent sightings at sea are valid; hence, lunar calculations should reflect land and maritime zones under national jurisdiction
Leadership Values in Tafsir As-Sa'di and Fathul Karim Mukhtashar and Their Implications for Islamic Education Management
This research aims to explore the value of Islamic leadership in the Qur'an and its implications for contemporary Islamic education management. This study focuses on three main values, namely trust, justice, and deliberation, based on the interpretation of QS An-Nisa verse 58, QS Ash-Shura verse 38, and QS Al-Mu'minun verse 8 with reference to Tafsir As-Sa'di and Tafsir Fathul Karim Mukhtashar. The method used is qualitative based on literature studies with a thematic interpretation approach. The results of the study show that these three values play an important role in decision-making, human resource management, and the formation of a participatory organizational climate. The practical implications of these findings suggest that internalizing the Qur'anic leadership values can improve the effectiveness and integrity of governance of Islamic educational institutions. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of two contemporary books of tafsir to build a conceptual framework of leadership based on Qur'an spirituality in the context of education management

Unlocking the Image of Women in Classic Women's Fiqih Books: A Semiotic Analysis and Its Relevance to the Contemporary Context
AbstractIn the past, women were limited in their social mobility, which is reflected in various religious jurisprudence texts, incnluding fiqh books specifically written for women. Although these women's fiqh books are considered classic, studies show that they are still the primary references for studying women's fiqh. This research aims to reveal the image of women as depicted by writers of classical women's fiqh books, using semiotic analysis methods. The research question is, what image of women is portrayed by writers of classical women's fiqh books in their works? . The results of the research indicate that the image of women in the classical women's Fiqh book, Risalatul Makhid, depicts the role of women as still normative, which means that women play a major role in the family, as well as being responsible for domestic work. In contrast, Masailun Nisa's book portrays women in a more substantive and prestigious role, allowing them to study and work, and occupy strategic positions in society. However, normative roles are still considered the main role for women. The contribution of this research is to prove the hypothesis that women are still seen as domestic creatures in Islamic boarding school (pesantren) books. Therefore, when teaching students, it is recommended to accompany classical fiqh books with contemporary fiqh discourse that is more humanistic towards women.

The Humanization of Accountability: A New Paradigm for Waqf Management
The practice of waqf accountability in general often places excessive emphasis on technical and financial measurements, thereby neglecting the humanitarian mission that constitutes the very essence of waqf institutions. This paper seeks to address that limitation by proposing the idea of a “humanization of waqf accountability”, an integrated framework grounded in the prophetic social thought of Kuntowijoyo. The framework rests upon three main pillars. First, active community participation, which positions beneficiaries not as passive recipients but as empowered subjects. Second, social justice, which redefines waqf as an instrument for inclusive and sustainable development rather than merely a charitable activity. Third, community well-being, regarded as the ultimate goal, is measured through holistic indicators of human dignity. By integrating these pillars, this comprehensive paradigm not only aligns waqf governance with its ethical foundations but also responds to contemporary challenges, such as the need for beneficiary-centered management and transparent reporting. In essence, this human-oriented approach provides a pathway for waqf institutions to enhance their social impact, build trust among stakeholders, and fulfill their mandate in realizing sustainable community development more effectively
Analysis of Population, Poverty, Unemployment Rate, and Gini Ratio on Human Development Index in Bangka Belitung
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a measure that evaluates human development achievements based on fundamental quality-of-life components that can influence individual productivity levels. This study aims to analyze the impact of Population Size, Percentage of Poor Population, Open Unemployment Rate (TPT), and Gini Ratio on the Human Development Index (HDI) in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province from 2018 to 2023. The panel data regression method was employed, combining time series and cross-sectional data to provide more accurate information. The findings reveal that the HDI of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province has increased yearly, though it remains below the national average. The selected model was the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) based on the results of the Chow and Hausman tests. Analysis indicates that Population Size has a positive and significant effect on HDI, while the Percentage of Poor Population has a negative and not significant effect. Additionally, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) has a positive and significant effect on HDI, whereas the Gini Ratio has a negative and significant effect. Simultaneously, the four independent variables contributed 95.44% to HDI. These findings are expected to inform government efforts to improve human development quality, such as poverty alleviation, and highlight the need for attention to population management in balancing employment opportunities in the region and the government should work to reduce the unemployment rate through policies that focus on job creation, increasing workforce competitiveness, and addressing inequality, as reflected by the Gini ratio. This can be achieved by expanding equitable access to education and healthcare
