Dynamics of ovarian structures after aplication of Suprelorin® (4.7 mg de-slorelin acetate) implant for estrus induction in bitches

    Get PDF
The sexual cycle and ovulation in bitches occur much less often than in other domestic animals, as they are monoestrous. In addition, dogs have spontaneous ovulation and, consequently, a spontaneous luteal phase. This physiology of the sexual cycle in bitches leads to specific difficulties with reproduction. Owners often cannot connect a bitch with a dog in time and, accordingly, get offspring due to the absence of heat or prolonged anestrus. Therefore, the stimulation of the sexual cycle in bitches is gaining more and more interest among animal owners. Understanding the physiology of the sexual cycle and its stages makes it possible to manipulate it safely and without negative consequences for the bitch's body. We recommend using the Suprelorin implant in late anestrus to induce estrus and obtain ovulation in bitches. Implant Suprelorin®, primarily registered for the pharmacological sterilization of dogs and cats, causes estrus at the beginning of its action. This mechanism of action of Deslorelin implants is known as the flare effect due to its stimulating effect on the secretion of gonadotropin (GnRH), which triggers the synthesis of follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones from the pituitary gland. Our results showed that the use of the Suprelorin® implant (4.7 mg Deslorelin) is safe for the induction of oestrus in bitches and does not cause side effects. The proposed induction scheme makes it possible to achieve the highest level of initiation of the sexual cycle (hypothalamus-pituitary-gonads), which is as close as possible to the natural sexual cycle regarding the mechanism of action and is safe for the bitch's body. Ultrasound diagnostics occupy an essential place in studying animals with gynecological problems. There are not many studies in bitches that would show the dynamics of ovarian follicles after using the Deslorelin implant. In our studies, ultrasonographic examination of ovarian structures revealed a faster appearance of follicles in the group of bitches treated with the Deslorelin implant (4.7 mg) compared to the control group; at the same time, their size was significantly more extensive, and the ovulated faster. The appearance of anechoic structures on the ovaries with a size of more than 3 mm (mean 3.2 ± 0.1) was detected already on the third day after the introduction of the implant in 3/6 bitches in the experimental group, while in the control group, only on the fifth day (4/6) and on the seventh (2/6) day. Follicle sizes differed statistically between groups from the 9th to the 12th day. In the experimental group, the appearance of follicles was noted earlier than in the control group (starting from the third day); they were significantly more extensive and ovulated on the 14th day, while in the control group, only on the 16th day

    Get PDF
Silt (nutrition medium) is the habitat of many microorganisms that adapt well to water and soil. By extended aeration, it partially comes out of the sewage. The nature of organic impurities determines the composition of such a substrate, so its leading indicators may vary. Such a nutrient medium is one of the favorable conditions for the growth and development of Chironomus larvae and various microflora. The article presents the results of studies of bacteriological crops of the substrate for Chironomus larvae to establish the microbiological composition of the nutrient medium under various pasteurization modes. It was found that in native sludge, the growth of a colony of bacteria of the family Pseudomonas spesialis is 80 %, Bacillus subtilis is 15 %, and Micrococcus luteus is 5 % of the total number of colony-forming organisms. It was also found that different modes of pasteurization lead to a decrease in the number of microorganisms in the nutrient medium. When pasteurized at 65 °C (long-term), the number of microorganisms decreased by 16 times. When pasteurized at 75 °C (short-term), the number of colony-forming organisms decreased by 22 times, and at 95 °C (instant), it decreased by 358 times compared with the native form of the nutrient medium

The article presents the data on the quantitative and qualitative composition of micromycetes of wheat grain grown in the Polissya region. During the research period, an average of 2.88-104 ± 3.62-103 colony forming units (CFU) per 1 g of grain was found in wheat grain samples collected in the Polissya region. Twenty species of microscopic fungi belonging to 9 genera were isolated from the wheat grain of the Polissya zone. Among them were the genera Alternaria (92.5 %), Mucor (92.5 %), Aspergillus (83.0 %), Penicillium (47.2 %), Fusarium (60.4 %), Phoma (15,.1 %), Mycelia (15.1 %), Trichotecium (1.9 %) and Monascus (1.9 %) of the samples. Aspergillus niger (17.0 %), Aspergillus candidus (9.4 %), and Aspergillus terreus (1.9 %) were detected less frequently among Aspergillus. Fusarium spp. (17.0 %), Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium semitectum in (5.7 %), and Fusarium culmorum (3.8 %) of the samples were identified among Fusarium. A smaller number of microscopic fungi species represents the endophytic mycobiota of wheat grain. Among the isolates of micromycetes isolated from the Polissya zone, pure cultures were obtained from F. sporotrichiella var. tricinctum isolate 1218/4, and F. sporotrichiella isolate 1218/5. These isolates were atoxic against the test culture Candida pseudotropicalis strain 44 PC, but F. sporotrichiella var. tricinctum 1218/4 produced a growth retardation zone with Rf 0.05 and produced an unidentified trichothecene mycotoxin (TTMT). Among the isolated fungi, Aspergillus flavus isolate 1219/3 and Aspergillus flavus isolate 1221/1 were the first to produce kojic and aspergillic acids and the second to synthesize penicillic and aspergillic acids. To reduce the negative effect of the mycotoxin deoxynivalenol on the body of chickens of the meat and egg breed Adler Silver, the birds were fed the sorbent “Mikosorb”. It was found that when added to the diet, the sorbent “Mikosorb” in the amount of 2.0 % of the total feed weight reduces the negative effect of deoxynivalenol on the body of chickens of the experimental group. This was confirmed by a 12.0 % reduction in bird mortality. Feeding “Microsorb” in the amount of 2.0 % by weight of complete feed contributed to an increase in the average daily weight gain of poultry during the experiment by 5.43 % compared to the experimental group that consumed feed with the toxin deoxynivalenol (DON). During the experiment, the birds of the experimental group No. 2 consumed 28.91 kg of feed more than group No. 2. Feeding the sorbent “Mikosorb” in the amount of 2.0 % of the feed weight to chickens of the meat and egg breed Adler silver contributes to an increase in gross weight gain by 9.69 kg during the experiment. The use of “Mikosorb” in the technology of feeding chickens of experimental group No. 2 contributed to an increase in the profitability of poultry production by up to 12.0 % compared to poultry that consumed feed affected by DON toxin. After analyzing the scientific results from the literature and our research results, we concluded that the abovementioned studies on wheat grain should be carried out throughout Ukraine during harvesting and storage in warehouses or storages

The article presents the research results of the heavy metals content in artificial reservoirs located at different distances from a number of pollutants of anthropogenic origin. The manuscript provides data on the dependence of the concentration of copper, zinc, lead, iron, cadmium in pond water on their location on highways and arable land. The location near these anthropogenic factors of artificial reservoirs pollution causes the accumulation of heavy metals in the water leading to significant exceedances of permissible levels for the catch of commercial fish, poses a significant threat to the environmental situation and safety of aquaculture. Research has also revealed that fish farming technology used in the farm also determines the ingress and accumulation of heavy metals in the reservoir. In particular, it was found that the operation of non-letting ponds, the use of cascades near the highway and arable land increases the accumulation of heavy metals. According to the results of our research, the content of heavy metals in a pond located at a short distance from the road and agricultural land indicate a high increase in the concentration of toxicants in water. It was established that the concentration of Kuprum was in the water thickness – 0.085 mg/dm3, and at the bottom of the reservoir 0.095 mg/dm3 at MPC 0.001 mg/dm3. The Zn content in the water thickness was 0.119 mg/dm3, in the deep layers of the reservoir – 0.127 mg/dm3, exceeding the maximum allowable concentrations of 11.9 and 12.7 times, respectively. Mangan in the water thickness of the reservoir located near anthropogenic polutantes was 0.091 mg/dm3, and near the bottom of the reservoir – 0.034 mg/dm3 at the MPC – 0.01 mg/dm3. Fe in the water of an artificial reservoir located near the field and road exceeded the maximum allowable concentrations for this chemical element by 20 times regardless of the layer of its selectio

Successful elimination of helminthic diseases, as well as their further prevention, is possible only under the condition of carrying out a complex of organizational and economic, veterinary and sanitary, and special anti-parasitic measures, which must necessarily include disinfestation of places where animals are kept, as well as environmental objects. It is necessary to establish the ability of modern chemical agents to harm certain types of parasites. The research aimed to determine the ovocidal efficiency of disinfectants in different concentrations and exposures against Passalurus ambiguus eggs isolated from domestic rabbits. An experimental test was carried out in laboratory conditions on chemical products of domestic production “Virosan”. (AS – alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride, glutaraldehyde) and “Hermecid-VS” (AS – didecyldimethylammonium chloride, glutaraldehyde, benzalkonium chloride). The leading indicator of the effect of disinfectants on the eggs of pasaluris was the value of their disinfestation efficiency. The results of the conducted studies established a high level of ovocidal efficiency of “Virosan” (OE – 100 %) against P. ambiguus eggs at 0.25 % concentration for exposures of 30–60 minutes and 0.5 % concentration for exposures of 10–60 minutes. A satisfactory level of the ovocidal efficiency of “Virosan” was established when using the agent in 0.1 % (30–60 min exposure) and 0.25 % (10 min exposure) concentrations, OE ranges from 62.36 to 82.20 %. An unsatisfactory level of the ovocidal efficiency of “Virosan” was established at 0.1 % of the concentration after exposure for 10 minutes (AS – 47.30 %). Disinfectant “Hermecid-VS” showed a high level of ovocidal efficiency concerning the eggs of pasaluris in 0.1 % concentration for 60 min exposure (OE – 91.45 %) and in 0.25–0.5 % concentration for 10–60 min exposure (AS – 100 %). A satisfactory ovocidal efficiency of “Hermecid-VS” was established when using the product at a concentration of 0.1 % (10 and 30-minute exposures), where OE indicators were 76.25 and 81.91 %, respectively. The obtained data make it possible to recommend disinfectants of domestic production “Virosan” and “Hermecid-VS” in specified concentrations and exposures to control and prevent pasalurosis in rabbits in order to effectively carry out the deinvasion of environmental objects and places where animals are kept

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD No. 410), the research was conducted using the classic method. When studying the effect of a wound-healing agent on the body of animals during long-term 28-day dermal application by the classical method in animals of the I, II, and III experimental groups, which received the drug in a dose of 0.5, 2.5, and 5 ml/kg body weight; respectively no significant changes were found in the body weight of the animals and the weight coefficients of the liver, heart, spleen, kidneys, and lungs. At the same time, in the animals of the II and III research groups, a slight increase in the concentration of hemoglobin was noted, respectively, by 1.3 and 3.9 %, the level of urea – 5.3 and 11.2 %, the activity of AST – 9.8 and 14.9 % compared to the indicators of animals of the control group. In these groups, there was a decrease in total protein concentration by 5.5 and 6.8 %, creatinine level by 3.1 and 5.3 %, and ALT activity by 6.5 and 9.7 %. The studies conducted according to the OECD No. 410 make it possible to obtain more informative data on the toxic effect of the investigated agent. In particular, it was established that the use of the researched drug in animals of the I, II, and III experimental groups caused a decrease in the weight coefficients of the spleen mass, respectively, by 19.1 (Р < 0.05), 22.4 (Р < 0.05) and 28.3 % (P < 0.05), hearts – 3.6, 4.6 and 7.7 %, kidneys – 4.9, 6.5 and 10.4 % and animal body weight – 4.5, 5.4 and 6.4 %, hemoglobin concentrations – 2.6, 2.9 and 4.4 %, leukocyte counts – 21.4, 16.1 and 15.1 %, hematocrit values – 1.9, 3, 6 and 4.0 %. The average hemoglobin content in the erythrocyte (MSN) also decreased by 8.3, 6.9, and 5.1 %, and the average erythrocyte (MCV) volume was 5.0, 4.7, and 1.7 %. In addition, an increase in weight coefficients of liver mass was established by 10.8 (P < 0.05), 11.8 (P < 0.05), and 15.6 % (P < 0.05). When studying the effect of the researched agent during 28-day dermal application on biochemical indicators of blood serum in animals of the first experimental group, a decrease in the concentration of total protein by 5.8 % was established. Under these conditions, an increase in creatinine level, urea level, ALT, and AST was established, respectively, by 6.2, 18.8 (P < 0.05), 3.8, and 14.7 % (P < 0.05). It should be noted that the use of the researched product in animals of the II and III experimental groups caused an increase in the level of urea, respectively, by 28.6 and 35.7 % (Р < 0.05), creatinine by 8.4 and 3.5 %, AST – 16.4 (P < 0.05) and 11.3 % and the activity of ALT – 8.5 and 11.0 %

Peculiarities of physico-chemical condition of uterine vaginal mucus during estral cycle

    Get PDF
The primary aim of the work was to study the peculiarities of the influence of endogenous factors (products of inflammatory processes occurring in the tissues of female genitals) in the biological system of type “environment (uterine-vaginal mucus) – substance (water, organic and inorganic substances)” on the indicators of mass (g, mg) of its components. The results of the experiments indicate that their harmful effect changes the color and density of mucus released during estrus (UVM); reduces the parameters of the mass content of H2O and inorganic substances (IS), but increases – organic (OS). Under these circumstances, the distribution of the parameters of the mass of the components of the dry residue (DR, dried at 105 oC) of UVM of cows of the experimental group is presented in a row where the mass of ОS1 (burn at 520–530 oC) ˃IS ˃ОS2 (burn at 650 оС), but for control is another as well as mass of IS˃ОS1˃ОS2. This means that the harmful effects of inflammatory products on the genital tissues of females negatively affect the distribution of the mass of OS and IS in the system “environment-substance”

Sheep breeding is a branch of animal husbandry that is unique in terms of the variety and specificity of products. Sheep can utilize feed resources that are almost inaccessible to other types of farm animals. One of the factors in increasing the efficiency of sheep breeding is ensuring the well-being of farms concerning invasive diseases, particularly trichurosis. Successful control of trichurosis in sheep farms is the most effective for monitoring and forecasting the development of the epizootic situation depending on the climate-geographical zone. The work aimed to monitor the epizootic situation regarding sheep trichurosis in the Poltava region. According to the analysis of the statistical data of the reporting documentation of the Main Department of the State Production and Consumer Service in the Poltava region for 2018–2022, it was established that the share of helminthiasis among diseases of infectious etiology of sheep reaches 99.6 %. At the same time, among helminthiasis, nematodes have the highest specific weight – 69.0 %, and trematodes were less common – 31.0 %. Strongyloidiasis (68.05 %) was diagnosed most frequently among helminth infections during the studied period. A smaller percentage was strongylidosis of digestive organs (17.16 %) and trichurosis (11.24 %). Dictyocaulosis was rarely diagnosed among livestock (3.55 %). The average extent of trichurosis infestation of sheep during the investigated period in the territory of the Poltava region was 7.51 %, ranging from 5.83 to 9.26 %. Indicators of the extent of trichurosis invasion ranged from 5.45 to 33.33 % by area. According to the results of coproovoscopy, the highest values of sheep infestation with Trichuris were found in the farms of Karliv and Mashiv regions – 33.33 and 20.0 %, respectively. Less often, trichurosis was diagnosed in sheep farms of Dykanskyi (8.0 %), Reshetylivskyi (6.67 %), and Kotelevskyi (5.45 %) districts. The obtained data from monitoring studies prove the relevance of the further and more in-depth analysis of the spread of trichurosis infestation among sheep in the territory of the Poltava region, taking into account the age and seasonal dynamics of the disease, as well as the peculiarities of its course as part of mixed infestations

The activity of T- and B-cell links of specific protection of chicken-broilers under the influence of synbiotic preparation “Biomagn” and “Diolide” disinfectant

    Get PDF
One of the most actual problems of modern poultry farming is to increase the preservation of chickens and ensure high intensity of their growth at all stages of rearing. The development of alternative methods of prevention and treatment of infectious diseases of poultry involves the use of preparations of natural or organic origin, which have antagonistic properties against infectious agents and are able to balance the immune response. A prominent place in the system of disease prevention and increasing the resistance of animals and poultry is the development of modern probiotic and bactericidal preparations. In view of this, we studied the influence of the synbiotic preparations “Biomagn” in combination with the disinfectant “Diolide” on the state of the T- and B-cell links of the specific immunity of broiler chickens during the period of their rearing. The preparation “Biomagn” is based on representatives of the normal commensal microflora - non-pathogenic lactic acid bacteria with antibacterial and immunomodulatory properties and additional components: magnesium chloride, chitosan, xylanase, protease, cellulase, milk thistle meal, acidity regulator, betaine and emulsifier. The specified remedy is used to ensure optimal level of metabolism, increase immune function, growth, safety of animals and poultry. The results of the research showed that the use of the synbiotic preparation “Biomagn” in combination with the disinfectant “Diolide” had a positive influence on the activity of T- and B-cell links of specific defense of broiler chickens organism during the period of their rearing. This is evidenced by an increase in the amount of T-lymphocytes (total, active and theophylline-resistant) and B-lymphocytes in the blood and an increase in their functional activity due to the redistribution of the receptor apparatus of immunocompetent cells. In particular, a decrease in the number of functionally inactive T- and B-lymphocytes in the blood and an increase in the number of cells with low and medium degree of avidity. Therefore, the use of a set of studied immunotropic preparations is a promising direction in increasing the resistance and productivity of poultry. This allows in industrial conditions of maintenance, without loss of productivity, to respond to technological factors that can lead to immunodeficiency, disease and death of poultry
