STABILITY ANALYSIS OF THE MODEL SVEI_a I_sR ON COVID-19 SPREAD

    No full text
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented a major challenge in understanding the dynamics of disease transmission in a region. DKI Jakarta is the province with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. In this article, the SVEIₐIₛR model (Susceptible, Vaccinated, Exposed, Asymptomatic, Symptomatic, and Recovered) is examined to model the spread of COVID-19 in DKI Jakarta Province. The basic reproduction number is obtained through the Next Generation Matrix (NGM) approach, whereas the local stability analysis is carried out using the Routh–Hurwitz criterion. Furthermore, there are two equilibrium points obtained, which are the disease-free equilibrium and the endemic equilibrium. The stability of the equilibrium point is analyzed based on the value of the basic reproduction number. The endemic equilibrium point is considered asymptotically stable if the basic reproduction number is less than one. To demonstrate the behavior of the COVID-19 transmission model, numerical simulations are conducted using data obtained from DKI Jakarta Province. The results of the analysis indicate that, the COVID-19 transmission model is asymptotically stable at the diseas-free equilibrium point with R0=0.001897843854. This indicates that, over time, the COVID-19 disease will eventually disappear from the population.

ON A HIGHLY ROTUND NORM AND UNIFORMLY ROTUND NORM IN EVERY DIRECTION ON A FRECHE’T SPACE

The word rotund comes from Latin word "rotundus" implying wheel-shaped or round (from rota wheel). Rotundity is the roundness of a 3-dimensional object. Some of the properties of rotundity include: UR-Uniformly Rotund, LUR-Locally Uniformly Rotund, MLUR-Midpoint Locally Uniformly Rotund, WUR-Weakly Uniformly Rotund, URED-Uniformly Rotund in Every Direction, HR- Highly Rotund, WLUR-Weakly Locally Uniformly Rotund and URWC-Uniformly Rotund in Weakly Compact sets of directions. Problems on Rotundity properties are still open. Smith gave a summary chart on rotundity of norms in Banach spaces. The chart left an open question whether or not a Highly Rotund norm(HR) implies Uniformly Rotund norm on Every Direction(URED). It is not clear whether if a Banach space has a Highly Rotund(HR) norm it follows that it has and equivalently URED. In this paper, we investigated the relationship between a Highly Rotund norm(HR) and a Uniformly Rotund norm in Every Direction(URED) on a Freche’t Space. The result shows that both Highly Rotund norm and Uniformly Rotund norm on Every Direction(URED) exist in Freche’t spaces. The implication of this result is that rotundity properties can be extended within spaces. This research work is very important since rotundity properties are strongly applicable in many branches of mathematics

SOME PROPERTIES OF MODULAR TOPOLOGY IN THE ORLICZ SEQUENCE SPACE

    Get PDF
In this article, we examined some properties of modular topology on the Orlicz sequence space. Discussions were conducted by constructing the topology on the sequence space using a modular neighborhood of zero. The neighborhood forms a local base that is balanced, absorbing, and symmetrical. Furthermore, if the Orlicz function that grows not soo rapidly, the modular neighborhood induces a topological vector space. We also characterize the modular boundedness, modular convergence, and modular closed set on the sequence space

HIERARCHICAL BAYESIAN SMALL AREA ESTIMATION ON OVERDISPERSED DATA: WORKERS WITH DISABILITIES IN INDONESIA

    Get PDF
Persons with disabilities encounterdifficulties in accessing essentialservices, including employment, healthcare, information, and political participation. In line with the target 8.5 of the SDGs, efforts have been made to promotefull, productive, and decent employment for all, including for persons with disabilities. However, the majority ofworkers with disabilities in Indonesia remain concentrated in the informal sector during the period of 2022–2023. Unfortunately, data on workers with disabilities is currently only available at the national level. This limitation arises because the sample size of workers with disabilities is insufficient to meet the minimum requirements for direct estimation at the provincial level. Therefore, a Small Area Estimation approach is necessary to assess the participationof persons with disabilities in the workforce at more granular level, such as provinces. In this study, auxiliary variables such as the sex ratio, the number of residents who are shackled, and the availability of computer skills infrastructure were incorporated to the Small Area Estimation (SAE) framework. The Hierarchical Bayesian Poisson-Gamma was employed to improve the precision of direct estimation. The research results show that the HB Poisson-gamma estimator has better precision compared to the direct estimator

Fostering a Sustainable University in Germany - Setting, Infrastructure and Perspectives

    Get PDF
Today, circumstances have changed across Europe and the world, sustainable development engagement in politics unfortunately steps back for military investments and more protective and defense spendings. The world is experiencing a rollback in terms of climate protection, sustainable development and scientific freedom. The consequences could have very negative impacts on today’s and future generations. Hence universities worldwide have to concentrate harder and broader on future focused and science based sustainable solutions. So the concept of the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld is not only to instruct and talk about sustainability. We practice very consequently what is taught in the lectures every single day with an advanced infrastructure. Students, lecturers, labs and institutes study and work successfully with a professoral experience in these fields of almost 30 years, researching, testing and installing new environmental engineering technologies, teaching state of the art sustainable business and advanced environmental law. This paper focuses examples of the campus setting regarding facilities and buildings that are equipped technologically on a high level – as the Environmental Campus is Germany’s first zero emission campus and a model site of Trier University. Finally, the ‘UI Green Metric family’ must foster and maintain advanced sites to convince people, politicians and third-party funds to assure the endowment of universities further on. Reducing or even stopping the admission of resources for science and education like in the U.S. 2025 is not acceptable – nowhere. This is a challenge for universities worldwide

A Model for Sustainable Development in Higher Education: Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development in Egypt

Sustainable development ensures future generations can meet their needs, making it vital for institutions to adopt sustainable practices. The UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer a framework to tackle global challenges, with universities playing a key role through research, education, and partnerships. While studies have explored SDGs in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), a comprehensive, institution-wide approach remains underexamined, particularly in the Middle East North African region. This study addresses that gap by analyzing SDG integration at Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development (HUSD) in Egypt. Established in 2012, HUSD embeds sustainability across academic and operational dimensions, aligning with SEKEM—a holistic sustainable development initiative in the Middle East—and its localized framework, the Sekem Vision Goals (SVGs). The case study examines SDGs across education, research, governance and community engagement, and using content analysis of curricula and journal publications. An UNESCWA-made survey assesses faculty and student perceptions, while thematic analysis highlights key priorities at HUSD, showing its attention to a holistic approach, community-building efforts, and the climate impact of university-led projects. By showcasing best practices for comprehensive SDG implementation, this study provides valuable insights for HEIs, particularly in the Global South, to integrate sustainability into their structures and enhance their global contribution

    Get PDF
The Trilha Rupestre (Rocky Trail) Program, developed by the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), aims to strengthen culture and the local economy. It also fosters sustainable development in municipalities with archaeological sites and paleontological records. Focusing on the Cerrado-Pantanal ecological corridor, the program covers 90 rock art sites and 733 archaeological sites registered with the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN) in 16 municipalities. The initiative trains local communities and encourages sustainable practices, contributing to income generation while promoting environmental preservation. Structured around eight thematic axes (food, archaeology, architecture, art-ceramics, botany, geopaleontology, chemistry-pharmaceuticals, and tourism), the program promotes multidisciplinary development, integrating quality education and building more inclusive and sustainable communities. The partnership with the UNESCO Borders and Migration Chair brings a social innovation approach, combining cultural appreciation with the promotion of inclusion. Through educational and cultural actions, the program raises awareness among communities and tourists about the importance of archaeological sites, linking sustainability with the appreciation of historical heritage. The Trilha Rupestre Program is a notable example of how higher education can contribute to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals

‘Having Kids is Scary’: Menilik Fenomena Budaya atas Pandangan Perempuan Generasi Z tentang Keputusan Childfree

    No full text
