    No full text
The study of the Qur\u27an\u27s verses that discuss plants reveals not only the beauty of God\u27s creation but also contains profound theological, aesthetic, and spiritual messages. This article analyzes these verses through the approach of balaghah science, specifically ma\u27ānī and bayan, and enriches their inner meaning with a Sufi perspective. Ma\u27ānī science is used to examine the structure and style of language that emphasizes certain meanings, while bayan science reveals the meaning of figures of speech such as tashbīh, isti\u27ārah, and kināyah. And the Sufi approach views plants as symbols of tajallī Allah, the human spiritual journey, and a means of contemplation towards ma\u27rifatullāh. The process of plant growth is interpreted as an allegory of the development of faith, love, and good deeds that must be cultivated through spiritual training. The research findings demonstrate that plants in the Quran are not merely biological objects, but rather a medium of divine communication that conveys the values of monotheism, beauty, and ecological awareness. Thus, this multidisciplinary interpretation presents a holistic and transformative understanding of the Quran

    Get PDF
Information on flower-visiting insects, especially pollinators of the pulasan plant (Nephelium ramboutan-ake), a species that tends to cross-pollinate, is essential for increasing fruit production. Unfortunately, there is minimal information on flower-visiting insects associated with pulasan. This research aimed to study the diversity and abundance of visiting insects on pulasan in the Mekarsari Fruit Garden, Bogor. Observations of insects were conducted using the fixed sample method, with samples taken every 20 minutes through direct observation from 06:00 am to 02:00 pm during the flowering period. Results showed that 24 insect species, belonging to 24 genera across six orders, visited the pulasan, with the order Diptera being the most dominant among the visiting insects. The potential insect species as pollinators of pulasan were Lathyrophthalmus sp. and Amata huebneri. Knowledge about flower-visiting insects plays an important role in the conservation of insects—especially pollinators—as well as the pulasan plant, a local species

Feeding Rates of Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia Illucens) Fed on Palm Kernel Meal and Bovine Blood

    Get PDF
Slaughterhouses are economic activities that generate significant waste, including blood. Blood is a biological hazardous material due to its potency as a source of disease. Standard waste management methods for this material, involving physical and chemical treatment technologies, are considered expensive and impractical for small-scale entrepreneurs, leading to a neglect of waste management. Another possible waste management approach for blood is to use biological agents that utilize its nutrients. One candidate is the black soldier fly, known for its ability to consume various organic materials to produce high-value biomass. However, this process is highly dependent on the feed material\u27s characteristics and the feeding rate. In this study, bovine blood was mixed with fermented palm kernel meal as the feeding material for black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of feeding rates of 50, 100, 200, 300, and 400 mg/larvae/day on the growth performance and survival of the larvae. The results showed that the time required for larvae to become pupae is 20-24 days. A 200 mg/larvae/day produced the best harvested weight and lowest FCR (feed conversion ratio). The highest growth rate was achieved at a dosage of 300 mg/larvae/day. At the same time, a 400 mg/larvae/day dose produced the highest length and WRI (Waste Reduction Index). On the other hand, the survival rate ranged from 77% to 91%, with 100 mg/larvae/day being the most effective. Mixing bovine blood with palm kernel meal at a feeding rate of more than 100 mg/larvae/day will allow the effective black soldier fly (H. illucens) larval composting process

Meatball is one of the popular meat dishes in Indonesia, especially in Sidoarjo. The sale of meatballs in Sidoarjo is carried out by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with 330 of the total 11,114 micro-traders selling meatballs. However, there is a risk of pork being adulterated into meatballs. This is a serious problem because Indonesia, especially Sidoarjo, is a Muslim-majority city with 95.5% of the total population of 2 million. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to conduct field checks to determine whether or not pork contamination is present in meatballs in Sidoarjo. Sampling locations were determined using a stratified random sampling method, which found that eight of the 15 villages, including Karangbong, Tebel, Sruni, Keboananom, Keboansikep, Gedangan, Ketajen, and Sawotratap Villages, have a significance value greater than the alpha value (0.05). Therefore, eight of them were used as sampling locations. One sample was purchased from each of the eight chosen villages, named S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, and S8. Meanwhile, the possibility of porcine contamination in beef meatball samples was analyzed using the Polymerase Chain Reaction - Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method with the restriction enzyme BsaJI. This study found that all eight samples and the negative control DNA amplicons were not cleaved by the BsaJI enzyme. Meanwhile, the positive control DNA amplicon was cleaved into 3 fragments. It was indicated that all samples and the negative control DNA amplicons were free of pork DNA contamination. Despite the anomaly, it can be concluded that all meatball samples bought from Gedangan District are not contaminated with pork. By demonstrating that meatballs from Sidoarjo are free from pork DNA, this study serves as an additional halal food monitoring in Sidoarjo. It reinforces public trust in local MSME food products

The Cognitive-Pedagogical Link: Working Memory Strategies and The Enhancement of Qur’an Memorization and Retention

    Get PDF
Memorization of sacred texts, particularly the Qur’an (Hifz), is a vital global pedagogical practice in Islamic education, yet institutions consistently face challenges related to variations in students’ memorization speed and the durability of retention. These inconsistencies stem from varying individual cognitive capacities. This study aims to identify, apply, and evaluate the effectiveness of targeted working memory strategies in enhancing cognitive capacity and optimizing both the immediate memorization and long-term retention of Qur’anic content among students. Employing a quantitative approach, the study recruited 32 participants from the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University in Jakarta. Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistical tests, specifically the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Mann-Whitney U-test, and Kruskal-Wallis test, alongside descriptive statistics, to compare pre- and post-intervention memorization and retention scores. The findings indicated a statistically significant difference between the mean pre-test and post-test scores, accompanied by a medium effect size, confirming the strategies’ immediate efficacy. Crucially, the decrease in scores between the post-test and subsequent retention measurement was significantly smaller than the decrease between the pre-test and initial retention measurement. The memorization strategy model used effectively enhances working memory function and significantly improves both initial learning and retention rates. This research strongly recommends the application of this strategy model within Islamic educational institutions to optimize students’ Hifz performance, bridging the gap between traditional practices and cognitive-pedagogical advancements

    Get PDF
The professional competence of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) teachers in teaching ratio material is a vital factor in improving students’ understanding of mathematics, making it important to examine MI teachers’ knowledge of mathematics content. This study aims to analyze teachers’ professional skills, including their understanding of the concept of ratios, their attitudes toward preparing the learning process, such as creating teaching materials aligned with the curriculum, and their understanding of students’ characteristics and how they design learning. The results of this study provide an initial foundation for further research, which can help teachers develop learning methods through didactic studies. The subjects of this research are MI grade VI teachers in Bandung Regency, from six schools. The method used is a descriptive approach with a prospective analysis stage based on Didactical Design Research (DDR). Data collection involved teacher reflection sheets, exploratory interviews, observations, and document reviews. The findings indicate that teachers’ professional competence in knowledge of learning content and teaching methods remains at level 2, while their understanding of students’ characteristics and learning styles is at level 3. Reflection sheets and interviews reveal that teachers face difficulties beginning with defining ratios, particularly in understanding that the ratio of a to b differs from the ratio of b to a, and in solving problems involving equal proportions. Often, teachers plan their lessons with a simple sequence of materials in a journal, without considering the epistemic and systemic aspects of the content or validating their presentation and practice questions found in textbooks. MI teachers also find it challenging to select concrete teaching methods for ratios before moving to an abstract understanding, especially given the limited time. Based on these findings, there is a clear need for programs to improve teachers’ competence through didactic studies, equipping them to anticipate and address potential obstacles and enabling them to design compelling learning experiences. Since teachers’ professional competence in teaching ratios directly impacts students’ understanding of math, exploring their content knowledge is essential. This study contributes to empowering teachers through didactic design research, a necessary approach to enhancing teacher competence
