IMPLEMENTATION OF SMART ECO RETAIL WITH THE CARBON FOOTPRINT APPROACH IN BUILDING SUSTAINABLE GREENHOUSE MANAGEMENT AT NGAJUM MALANG PRISON
Sustainable agricultural management is very important in facing climate change and natural resource degradation. Carbon footprint as a carbon emission measurement tool can help reduce the environmental impact of farming activities, especially in greenhouse management. This study aims to develop a carbon footprint-based smart eco-retail model to build sustainable greenhouse management while developing agricultural skills for inmates at Ngajum Malang Prison. Smart eco retail is a retail concept that integrates digital technology with environmentally friendly principles to support efficient and sustainable distribution of agricultural products. This model prioritizes carbon footprint measurement and management as an effort to reduce carbon emissions throughout the production and distribution chain. In addition to environmental aspects, this model also focuses on empowering inmates through modern agricultural skills training that supports the principle of sustainability. The research method uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with stages of needs analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation at Ngajum Prison. Training and implementation of the model involved the active participation of inmates as the main subjects. The results of the study indicate that carbon footprint-based smart eco retail can create more environmentally friendly and efficient greenhouse management. Inmates have succeeded in improving agricultural skills integrated with green technology. This model provides dual benefits, namely improving the quality of farm products and social empowerment of residents. The study recommends the development of a broader model with the integration of more advanced digital technology to optimize greenhouse management in various institutions
Diffusion of the SILETON Application in Strengthening Smart Governance in Agam Regency\u27s Population Services
The development of information and communication technology drives the transformation of public services towards a more efficient, transparent, and participatory digital direction. The Agam Regency Government responded to this change by presenting the SILETON (Integrated Online Electronic Service System) application as an innovation in population administration services. However, in the implementation process, various obstacles were still found, such as low digital literacy of the community, limited technological infrastructure, and uneven levels of service adoption. This study aims to analyze the process of innovation diffusion of the SILETON application based on Everett Rogers\u27 Diffusion of Innovation theory, assess its contribution to the implementation of smart governance, and formulate strategies for optimizing digital-based services at the regional level. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants were selected purposively involving the Agam Regency Population and Civil Registry Office, application managers, and user communities. The results of the study show that the SILETON innovation diffusion process has shown significant progress, but is not evenly distributed across all levels of society. This application contributes to increasing transparency, efficiency, and public participation as characteristics of smart governance. Suggested optimization strategies include increasing digital literacy, strengthening network infrastructure, developing user-friendly application features, and active collaboration between agencies. These findings emphasize the importance of a holistic approach in driving the success of digital innovation in local government to create more inclusive and adaptive public services
Ownership Ambiguity: A Study of Compensation for Crop Damage in Coconut Pawn Transactions in Islamic and Customary Law
Control of the pawned coconut object over the damaged plants around the pawned object. The pawnbroker demands compensation for the damage to his plants around the pawned coconut tree. The purpose of this study is to examine how the control of the parties who carry out plant pawn transactions is exercised and how the legal responsibility is when damage occurs to the plants around the collateral object. This type of research is in the form of field research in the Lima Kaum Batusangkar area of Indonesia. This study is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Primary sources from both parties who carry out the coconut tree pawn agreement. Secondary sources from the local community. Data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and observations. Analysis techniques with qualitative descriptive analysis. Findings from the field show that the pawnbroker still has power over the land where the coconut grows and plants young plants in the form of cayenne pepper around the area, while the pawn recipient also has power over the coconut fruit that has been pawned to him. This study concludes that compensation for damaged plants cannot be justified according to Custom, because the cayenne pepper plants prevent the pawn recipient from taking the fruit, in line with the pawn recipient\u27s power, which includes the boundaries of the coconut tree land attached to immovable objects (land). According to Islamic jurisprudence, this is a naqish (limited time) property right, only one of which is owned (material or benefit)
Using Big Data in Criminal Investigations: Between Privacy and Efficiency
The growing complexity of criminal activity and the exponential expansion of digital data necessitate the integration of Big Data technologies into criminal investigations. This paper examines the legal, technological, and ethical implications of using Big Data in criminal justice systems, with a focus on balancing investigative efficiency and individual privacy rights. The research applies a combination of philosophical and normative legal analysis, along with systemic and historical methods, to assess how these technologies are transforming investigative procedures. Findings highlight the potential of Big Data to enhance investigative accuracy, especially through data mining and predictive analytics, but also underscore serious risks related to data protection and regulatory ambiguity. The paper calls for clearer legal standards, international cooperation, and ethical frameworks to guide the application of Big Data in criminal proceedings. Furthermore, it emphasizes the need for institutional accountability and judicial oversight to prevent misuse, ensure transparency, and uphold the rule of law in an increasingly data-driven legal landscape
Understanding by Design (UbD) Learning Model for Developing Independent Learning Competencies in a Madrasah Ibtidaiyah
This study aims to develop a learning design utilizing the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework to enhance the self-regulated learning competence of fifth-grade students in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The background of this research is rooted in the low level of students’ learning independence, as reflected in their lack of initiative, planning, task execution, and responsibility throughout the learning process. The study employed a Design-Based Research (DBR) approach through four stages: problem identification, solution design, limited implementation, and reflection with design revision. Data were collected triangulatively through questionnaires, observations, written interviews, documentation, and student performance assessments. The developed learning design follows the principles of backward design, focusing on four main aspects of self-regulated learning: initiative, planning, independent task completion, and learning responsibility. The trial results revealed that UbD-based learning had a positive impact on nurturing student independence in affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects. Observation data indicated an increase in students’ active engagement and sense of responsibility, while the project-based mini-booklets and reflective journals demonstrated their ability to plan and complete tasks independently. The study concludes that the UbD learning design is effective in supporting the development of students\u27 self-regulated learning competence in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This research offers practical contributions in designing contextual and character-oriented learning and reinforces the “Independent” dimension in the Pancasila Student Profile
Gendering Political Party Financing in Nigeria: Evidence from the 2023 General Elections
The funding of political parties during the electoral process in Nigeria is gradually undermining democratic competition, accountability, transparency and opportunities for the weak and dominated sections of the society. The legal provisions in both the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act 2022 unequivocally set out the ceiling on expenditure, description of legal sources of campaign expenditure, ceiling on contributions and associated penalties for violations. Unfortunately, experience, particularly in the 2015, 2019 and 2023 parliamentary elections, has shown excessive spending, breaches of the rules and impunity for violations that were not sanctioned by the relevant authorities. This study therefore examines how the party funding process has disadvantaged and excluded women from participating in elective offices, resulting in an extremely small number of women winning in the recently concluded 2023 general elections. The study is based on a qualitative-descriptive research design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with informants and focus group discussions as well as personal observation of participants. The data collected was grouped into themes and discussed using tables, charts and empirical analyses. The study reports that women are marginalised, dominated, overshadowed and oppressed by men in Nigerian politics because of men\u27s overspending. The study recommends, among other things, that policies, including harsh penalties, should be applied to offenders who spend beyond the limit in order to control money politics and create a level playing field
Profile of Phenolic Compounds and Phenol-Degrading Bacterial Colonies in Secondary Peat Forest Soil
Peat contains high levels of phenols and lignin, which are resistant to decomposition. Drainage canals lower the groundwater table, promoting microbial degradation. This study investigated microbial decomposition in a secondary peat swamp forest by quantifying phenol-degrading bacterial colonies and measuring phenol concentrations in peat soil from Malikian Village, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan. Samples were collected from three plots at two depths, the aerobic layer and the anaerobic layer, with fifteen (15) samples from each depth. Bacterial colonies were counted via mineral salt medium (MSM) with up to five dilutions, whereas phenolic compounds were measured via the Folin–Ciocalteu method. Paired t-tests revealed highly significant differences in both phenol concentration (p-value < 0.001) and the number of phenol-degrading bacterial colonies (p-value < 0.003) between the aerobic layer and the anaerobic layers. These findings indicate that peat decomposition is more pronounced in the aerobic surface layer than in the permanently waterlogged layer. This observation is attributed to the greater number of phenol-degrading bacterial colonies and lower phenol concentration in the surface layer than in the deeper layer. Study of Didactic Transposition: Exploration of Taught Knowledge in Revealing Learning Obstacles for Madrasah Students
Didactic transposition helps bridge the gap between formal mathematical knowledge and classroom instruction, ensuring more effective material delivery aligned with students’ needs. The purpose of this study was to explore how linear equations of one variable are taught to eighth-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah based on the didactic transposition approach. This study focuses on the knowledge transfer stage of a didactic transposition study on linear equations of one variable, using qualitative research with a descriptive method. The study’s results showed that the presentation of material in the teaching and learning process led to a shift in understanding of linear equations of one variable from the concept of linear equations of one variable in a didactic context. Incomplete explanations of linear equations with one variable cause learning obstacles. Ontogenic obstacles arise from students’ cognitive limitations, epistemic obstacles from conceptual complexity, and didactic obstacles from ineffective teaching strategies. This study is conducted because didactic transposition can bridge the gap between formal mathematical knowledge and classroom instruction, yet it may also create learning obstacles. The findings can help improve teaching strategies by addressing conceptual gaps and learning obstacles, making mathematics instruction more effective for students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah
Character Education Builds AI Ethics, Digital Independence in Vocational Students
This study investigates how character education influences the development of digital independence and ethical awareness among students at SMK Amaliah as they engage with AI-powered learning environments. As reliance on AI tools like ChatGPT increases, concerns about academic integrity, critical thinking, and ethics have arisen. The research aims to create strategies for blending character education into vocational training, helping students use AI responsibly, maintain academic honesty, and build independent problem-solving skills. Employing a mixed-method approach, the study combines surveys of 200 students with qualitative analysis of character education initiatives within Islamic education. The quantitative data sheds light on students’ AI usage habits and their ethical understanding, while the qualitative aspect evaluates how character education programs influence responsible digital behavior. Findings reveal that although 75% of students use AI tools for academic tasks, only 40% have a clear grasp of plagiarism and ethical AI use. Character education plays a key role in fostering honesty, responsibility, and autonomous learning, reducing automation bias and uncritical AI reliance. This is because students involved in structured ethical discussions and guided AI use develop greater awareness of digital ethics and critical thinking. Additionally, character education encourages accountability and self-regulation by integrating moral reasoning with technological skills, ensuring students do not depend solely on AI-generated content without personal intellectual engagement. The study highlights the importance of embedding AI ethics into vocational curricula and training teachers to strengthen digital literacy and ethical decision-making. Its findings support educational practices that prepare students to handle AI responsibly and uphold academic integrity
Multicultural Islamic Education Through Learning Experiences of Diverse Students in Pesantren
Pesantren, the oldest Islamic educational institution in Indonesia, has increasingly become a learning space for students from varied ethnic, cultural, and social backgrounds, creating new opportunities for multicultural Islamic education. This study explores how Islamic multicultural values are understood and implemented at Pesantren Ihyaul Qur’an in Central Bengkulu. Employing a qualitative field research design, data were gathered through observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that Pesantren Ihyaul Qur’an has transformed into a modern Islamic boarding school with a diverse student community drawn from different regions, while upholding equal treatment for all students as long as institutional rules are observed. Multicultural Islamic values are embedded in both formal academic activities and traditional pesantren learning, supported by a combination of theoretical instruction and practical application. These values are strengthened through extracurricular activities, the use of Arabic and English, and programs such as Muhadhoroh (public speaking) and Muhimmah Ta’awuniah (collaborative tasks), which promote collaboration and mutual understanding. The study concludes that the pesantren’s innovative practices, including its art-stage initiatives, effectively nurture tolerance, cooperation, and intergroup harmony. This approach provides a meaningful model for enhancing multicultural Islamic education in pesantren and other Islamic educational institutions
