    No full text
The increasing demand for halal-friendly gelatin, combined with concerns over health risks associated with mammalian sources, has created a need for alternative raw materials. Fish scales from local species, such as parrotfish, offer a sustainable and promising option that has yet to be extensively explored. The study aims to investigate the physicochemical properties of gelatin extracted from the scales of the parrotfish (Scarus quoyi) scales. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was employed to determine the optimal concentration of hydrochloric acid (HCl) and immersion time to maximize yield and quality. Physicochemical properties, including yield, moisture content, ash content, pH, and viscosity, were evaluated, and the structural characteristics of the gelatin were analyzed using Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). All processing steps were conducted in compliance with Halal Critical Control Points (HCCPs) to ensure the final product remained free from cross-contamination with non-halal substances. Response surface methodology optimization identified 4% HCl concentration and 29.4 hours of immersion as optimal conditions. These conditions produce gelatin with a yield, moisture, ash, pH, and viscosity are 14.5%, 4%, 0.48%, 4.15, and 1.78 cP, respectively. FTIR analysis confirmed that the extracted gelatin exhibited absorption peaks consistent with those of commercial gelatin, indicating a functional group similarity. Compared to gelatin from other fish species, parrotfish gelatin demonstrated a competitive yield and notably low moisture content, thereby enhancing its stability and storage potential. These findings highlight the potential of parrotfish scales as a sustainable source of halal gelatin, contributing to waste reduction and offering a viable alternative to mammalian gelatin

    No full text
Health criminal law faces evolving challenges driven by rapid technological advancements and shifting social dynamics. Issues such as medical malpractice, drug counterfeiting, patient data privacy, and equitable access to healthcare require legal frameworks that are both adaptive and rights-based. However, Indonesia\u27s current legal regulations often fall short in addressing these complex realities, revealing a gap between normative provisions and practical implementation. This research analyses the challenges of enforcing health criminal law in the modern era through the lens of legal realism and proposes adaptive legal solutions. Utilising normative legal research, including statutory and conceptual approaches, the study examines primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials to assess the responsiveness of existing regulations. The findings highlight legal uncertainty, weak enforcement mechanisms, and insufficient alignment with technological and ethical developments. The novelty of this study lies in offering an integrated framework based on legal realism that emphasises pragmatic and contextually informed legal reform. Proposed solutions include comprehensive regulatory reform, restorative justice approaches, professional capacity-building, transparent oversight mechanisms, clear standards of criminal liability, and stronger protections against drug counterfeiting and patient data breaches. The study emphasises the need to strike a balance between law enforcement and human rights protection in the context of technological innovation in healthcare

    No full text
Digitalization today has a significant impact on improving workforce competency standards. One aspect is the mastery and utilization of technology, which is now a benchmark for job providers in the recruitment process. Indonesia also faces the challenge of the demographic bonus phenomenon, where the number of productive workers increases but quality remains inadequate. Unlike previous studies that focused more on evaluating education as a factor shaping human resources, this study examines the relationship between the demographic bonus phenomenon and professional revolution as well as reasons behind low-quality human resources in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to provide solutions for human resource readiness in facing challenges posed by both demographic bonuses and professional revolutions in Indonesia. The researcher used a Systematic Literature Review Method by analyzing 36 Scopus and Sinta accredited journal articles sourced from Scopus and Google Scholar metadata through Publish or Perish (PoP). The results show two main problems: first, low quality of Indonesian human resources indicated by poor thinking skills; second, ineffectiveness of vocational high school education in producing competent workers due to their inability to optimize relationships with industries or employers. To overcome these problems, it is suggested to optimize STEAM learning and revitalize vocational schools while changing study duration to five years for Diploma II equivalent graduates like Thailand\u27s vocational education system

    No full text
Animal waste management in Kuningan Regency, especially in Cipari Village, faces serious challenges in the form of environmental pollution, low awareness of livestock farmers, and suboptimal existing policies. This study aims to analyze innovations in animal waste management policies with a participatory and collaborative approach. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, document studies, and field observations. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of policy innovations based on three main principles, namely creation of interactive value, distributed co-creation, and mass collaboration, has encouraged multi-party involvement in overcoming waste problems. The findings show real collaboration between livestock farmers, local governments, academics, and the private sector, which results in the practice of processing waste into organic fertilizer and biogas. However, implementation is still hampered by the lack of incentives, technological infrastructure, and coordination between institutions. Therefore, the strategy for increasing policy effectiveness is directed at institutional integration, ongoing education, incentives for small farmers, and strengthening waste management cooperatives. This study provides a conceptual contribution to collaborative and practical governance for the development of environmentally friendly agriculture

Developing a Strategic Framework for Mapping Sustainable Business Opportunities in Islamic Higher Education Institutions under the Badan Layanan Umum (BLU) Scheme

    No full text
This study aims to develop a strategic, ethical, and sustainability-oriented conceptual framework for identifying and evaluating sustainable business opportunities within Indonesian Islamic Higher Education Institutions operating under the Public Service Agency (PTKI BLU) model. Amid rising pressures on higher education institutions to reduce reliance on public funding and enhance revenue diversification, PTKI BLUs face the unique challenge of balancing market responsiveness with strict adherence to Islamic values and broader sustainability imperatives. This research adopts a qualitative conceptual approach inspired by Jabareen’s framework analysis method, integrating extensive literature reviews and secondary data from institutional reports, policy documents, and best practices across PTKI BLUs. The findings result in a multidimensional framework composed of four core dimensions: (1) Internal Resource Audit, (2) External Needs & Market Analysis, (3) Business Model Development with a triple-filter evaluation (BLU Feasibility, Islamic Value Congruence, and Sustainability Impact), and (4) Strategic Prioritization, Implementation, and Monitoring. This framework assists PTKIs in strategically transforming internal assets—academic expertise, physical infrastructure, networks, and Islamic identity—into mission-aligned and financially viable ventures across sectors such as halal industry, Sharia finance, education services, and community-based enterprises. The implications of this study are twofold: it offers a roadmap for PTKIs to enhance their institutional resilience through ethically grounded entrepreneurship, and it contributes to the discourse on Islamic university governance under autonomy models like BLU. The originality of this research lies in its integrated approach, bridging regulatory flexibility, Islamic ethical principles, and sustainability into a unified model—addressing a critical theoretical and practical gap in current higher education and Islamic management scholarship
