    The Curriculum Design of Imam As-Shafi\u27i\u27s Education and Its Relevance to the Indonesian Education System

    In facing the dynamics of contemporary Islamic education, it is necessary to conduct studies that examine curriculum models based on traditional values that can adapt to the evolving times. This study examines the curriculum design of Imam As-Shafi\u27i and its relevance to Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly competency-based learning systems oriented toward character strengthening and knowledge integration. Using a qualitative approach through a literature study, this research conducts a descriptive- analytical examination of the educational curriculum structure of Imam As- Shafi\u27i and how its core values can be adapted to modern Islamic education systems. The findings show that Imam As-Shafi\u27i\u27s educational curriculum emphasizes a balanced integration of Sharia knowledge, rational thought, and character formation based on dialogical learning that enhances students\u27 critical and analytical thinking skills. Additionally, the curriculum developed by Imam As-Shafi\u27i highlights the importance of the ijtihad methodology in understanding religious texts, providing flexibility in its application across different historical and contextual settings. Furthermore, Imam As-Shafi\u27i\u27s curriculum approach to learning ultimately encourages active interaction between teachers and students through discussion methods and argumentation based on textual evidence. This model not only shapes students with high analytical abilities but also encourages them to think independently in understanding and applying knowledge. This competency- based educational curriculum aligns with the needs of modern education systems, which emphasize problem-solving skills and adaptability to social and technological changes

    PROFITABILITY OF ISLAMIC COMMERCIAL BANKS IN INDONESIA: DETERMINANTS AND IMPLICATIONS

    The performance of Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) in Indonesia is faced with significant challenges related to global economic fluctuations, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the industrial transformation of the merger of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). This observation aims to guess the profitability factor (ROA) of BUS focusing on macroeconomic variables (Inflation, GDP, BI7DRR) and internal bank variables (CAR, BOPO, NPF, and FDR) within 2019-2023. Quantitative methods are suitable to be applied using multiple linear regression analysis with secondary panel data from 11 BUS samples, annual financial data of BSI before and after merging are included using the pronorma method, resulting in 55 sample results then processed with IBM SPSS 29 tools. It was found that GDP and CAR have a significant positive effect on ROA. BOPO and NPF have a significant negative effect on ROA. Inflation, BI7DRR, and FDR have no significant Impact on ROA. The resulting presentation of 87.3% of the above variables affects profitability, while the rest is generated from variables outside the study. These findings reinforce the importance of controlling asset quality, capital strengthening, and operational efficiency in increasing BUS profitability in Indonesia. The government also needs to make strong regulations for the sustainability of Islamic financial institutions, especially Islamic banking. This research practically provides recommendations to policymakers to strengthen regulations related to asset quality, and operational efficiency. The inclusion of BSI analysis before and after the merger, can provide broad, unique, and impactful insights into restructuring in the context of Islamic banking in Indonesia

    This study explores the role of Islamic values in shaping a morally upright generation, emphasizing the integration of character education within family, school, and community settings. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach through library research, this study examines various scholarly sources, including the Qur\u27an, Hadith, academic books, journal articles, and official documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis to assess the conceptual foundations of Islamic values, strategies for character formation, and their practical applications in social life. The findings reveal that Islamic values play a crucial role in fostering individuals with strong integrity, responsibility, and high moral awareness. Islam provides a balanced approach between encouragement (bashiran) and warning (nazhiran), shaping individuals\u27 consciousness of the consequences of their actions. The study further highlights that character education based on Islamic teachings is highly effective in producing individuals who are not only intellectually capable but also spiritually resilient. As contemporary society faces increasing moral challenges due to globalization and technological advancements, this research underscores the relevance of Islamic character education in addressing these issues. The study concludes that through strong collaboration between families, educational institutions, and society, Islamic values can be effectively implemented to cultivate a generation that is morally grounded and contributes to a harmonious society. The significance of this research lies in its comprehensive analysis of Islamic character education and its practical recommendations for integrating Islamic principles into modern education systems

    Revitalizing the Spirit of the People\u27S Cultural Institute: Art as a Medium for Social and Political Activism of Students on Campus

    This study explores the enduring legacy and contemporary relevance of cultural activism initiated by the People\u27s Cultural Institute (Lekra), established in Indonesia during the politically dynamic post-independence era. Lekra pioneered the integration of socialist realism into artistic practice, systematically utilizing arts and culture as instruments for socio-political critique, consciousness-raising, and mobilization of marginalized communities. Recognizing growing political apathy among contemporary university students, this research examines the strategic adaptation of Lekra\u27s principles by SRD (Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa Seni Rupa dan Desain) at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes primary archival sources from Lekra\u27s historical documentation (1950–1965), alongside in-depth interviews with current SRD leaders and historical cultural activists. The findings demonstrate how SRD successfully revitalizes Lekra’s activist legacy through structured cadre formation, ideological education, and socially engaged collective artistic projects. SRD’s cultural activism offers a credible and engaging alternative to traditional student political structures characterized by pragmatism and disengagement. By emphasizing realism, collective artistic expression, and disciplined ideological clarity, SRD effectively bridges historical and contemporary socio-political realities, stimulating renewed political consciousness among students. Ultimately, this study argues that structured cultural activism, rooted in Lekra’s historical methodology and principles, remains critically relevant and strategically significant for overcoming student apathy, revitalizing democratic participation, and fostering long-term socio-political transformation within contemporary Indonesian university campuses

    Bibliometric Analysis of Value at Risk in Islamic Portfolio: Trends, Gaps, and Future Directions

    This study explores trends, intellectual structures, and thematic evolution in the literature on Value at Risk (VaR) for Islamic portfolios, identifying research gaps and proposing future directions. Using bibliometric analysis, it synthesizes 311 articles from the Scopus database (2005–2025) through Biblioshiny in RStudio and VOSviewer, focusing on publication trends, influential authors, affiliations, and thematic structures. The findings reveal steady growth in VaR literature for Islamic portfolios, with a 3.53% annual growth rate and contributions from 677 authors. Key contributors include Hammoudeh S., Mensi W., and institutions like International Islamic University Malaysia and Prince Sultan University. Thematic analysis highlights advanced methodologies such as GARCH and wavelet analysis, enhancing Islamic finance approaches. Thematic evolution shows a shift from foundational Islamic finance topics to complex analyses of volatility spillovers and dynamic connectedness. The study identifies nine research clusters and recommends integrating ESG considerations, improving risk management, and strengthening portfolio diversification. This research offers valuable insights for practitioners and policymakers in Islamic finance, underscoring the importance of tailored risk assessment tools. It provides a roadmap for scholars to address gaps, particularly in adapting conventional VaR methods to align with Islamic principles. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis on VaR in Islamic portfolios, significantly contributing to the literature by mapping intellectual landscapes and offering actionable future research directions

    Bimbingan Karir dalam Bimbingan Konseling Islam untuk Perencanaan Karir Siswa

    Menurut Dillard, perencanaan karir penting dilakukan dengan tujuan agar individu mampu memperoleh kesadaran dan pemahaman diri, mencapai kepuasan pribadi, mampu mempersiapkan diri untuk memperoleh penempatan dan penghasilan yang sesuai, serta sebagai efisiensi dalam usaha dan penggunaan waktu. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk; (1) Mengetahui permasalahan dalam perencanaan karir, (2) Proses pelaksanaan bimbingan karir, hingga (3) Hasil pelaksanaan bimbingan karir untuk membantu perencanaan karir siswa. Penelitian ini menggambarkan dan menjelaskan secara utuh serta apa adanya mengenai fenomena atau objek yang diteliti sesuai kondisi nyata pada lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan bimbingan karir yang dilakukan pada siswa kelas XII telah membantu siswa dalam merencanakan karirnya, ditandai dengan siswa telah memahami berbagai pilihan karir, siswa memahami persyaratan pendidikan, dan siswa melakukan persiapan dengan mengembangkan keterampilan. Pada proses pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terdapat faktor pendukung dan beberapa hambatan, akan tetapi hambatan-hambatan tersebut dapat diatasi dengan bijak, sehingga pada akhirnya siswa mampu menentukan rencana karirnya.     Comparison Between the Development of Arabic Linguistics and Modern Linguistics

    Arabic linguistics is a branch of science that focuses on the study of Arabic from various fields, namely phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Since classical times, Muslim scholars have developed linguistic theories that have contributed greatly to understanding the structure of the Arabic language. In its further development, Arabic linguistics began to interact with modern linguistic approaches, which offer more systematic and comprehensive analysis methods. Modern linguistics, which includes various branches such as structuralism, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and discourse analysis, provides a new perspective in understanding Arabic, both in theoretical and applied aspects. The influence of this modern approach not only enriches the study of Arabic linguistics, but also supports the development of language technology, translation, and Arabic language learning for foreign speakers. This article aims to examine the development of Arabic linguistics from traditional to modern perspectives and to explore the scope of modern linguistics that has an impact on Arabic language studies in the contemporary era. Through a descriptive and analytical approach, this article identifies the role of modern linguistics in expanding the scope of Arabic language studies, resulting in a deeper understanding of the structure and function of the language in various contexts

    Pengaruh penyerbukan antar spesies kopi yang dibudidayakan terhadap karakteristik buah dan biji: The effect of inter-pollination of cultivated coffee species on the characteristics of fruit and seeds

    Interspecific pollination between Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica L.) and its diploid relatives are hypothesized to influence the resulting fruit and seed characteristics. To evaluate this effect, artificial interspecific pollination was conducted between C. arabica × C. canephora (A×C), C. arabica × C. liberica (A×L), and their reciprocals (C×A and L×A). As a control, intraspecific pollinations were also performed within C. arabica (A×A), C. canephora (C×C), and C. liberica (L×L). Morphometric traits observed included fruit weight, fruit length, fruit width, fruit thickness, fruit volume, number of seeds per fruit, and abnormalities in fruit and seed development. The mean values were statistically compared using t-tests. The results demonstrated that fruit weight and size from interspecific pollinations with maternal excess (A×C and A×L) were significantly smaller than those from intraspecific pollination within C. arabica. Fruit abnormalities, particularly the percentage of empty fruits, were markedly higher in interspecific combinations—regardless of whether maternal or paternal excess was involved—compared to intraspecific pollinations. However, no consistent association was found between the occurrence of single-seeded fruits (peaberries) and the direction or type of interspecific pollination. Thus, in addition to genetic implications, the results of this study can also provide agronomic implications.   ABSTRAK Penyerbukan antar spesies kopi Arabika (Coffea arabica L.) dengan spesies kerabat yang bersifat diploid diduga berpengaruh terhadap karakteristik buah dan biji. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh tersebut dilakukan kombinasi penyerbukan buatan antar spesies yang dibudidayakan: C. arabica × C. canephora (A×C) dan C. arabica × C. liberica (A×L) serta kombinasi persilangan resiprokal (C×A) dan (L×A). Sebagai pembanding juga dilakukan penyerbukan dalam spesies C. arabica (A), C. canephora (C), dan C. liberica (L). Karakter morfometrik yang diamati meliputi bobot buah, panjang buah, lebar buah, tebal buah, volume buah, jumlah biji per buah, serta abnormalitas buah dan biji. Nilai tengah hasil penyerbukan antar spesies kopi kemudian dibandingkan dengan penyerbukan dalam spesies menggunakan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penyerbukan antar spesies dengan ekses maternal (A×C dan A×L) mengakibatkan bobot dan ukuran buah nyata lebih kecil dibandingkan hasil penyerbukan dalam spesies (A×A). Di sisi lain, penyerbukan antar spesies, baik dengan ekses maternal (A×C dan A×L) maupun paternal (C×A dan L×A), menyebabkan persentase buah hampa jauh lebih tinggi dibandingkan penyerbukan dalam spesies (A×A, C×C, dan L×L). Namun, tidak terlihat adanya keterkaitan antara persentase buah berbiji tunggal (peaberry) dengan kombinasi penyerbukan antar spesies.     Optimization of Potato and Carrot Production in Karo District Using the Beale Method

    This study aims to optimize land allocation for potato and carrot production in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, using a quadratic programming approach using the Beale method. Secondary data from the Karo Regency Agriculture Office for 2018-2024 are used to construct a quadratic objective function using the least squares method. The Beale method is applied iteratively to solve optimization problems with linear constraints. The results show that the optimal land allocation of 0.5382 hectares for carrots and 0.4005 hectares for potatoes provides a maximum yield of 1.6239 tons. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the mathematical optimization approach in improving land use efficiency and supporting data driven decision making in the horticultural agricultural sector

    This study aims to examine the fundamental differences between folklore and history, as well as how both contribute to the understanding of collective identity and cultural heritage in Indonesia. This research is significant given the relatively recent development of folklore as an independent academic discipline in Indonesia and the need to conceptually distinguish it from scientific historiography. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing literature review and field observations at cultural heritage sites such as Patilasan Dipatiukur and Prabu Siliwangi. The data analysis applies an interpretive method to explore narratives and cultural symbols embedded in both folklore and historical artifacts. The findings reveal that although folklore does not rely on empirical evidence like history, it holds essential value as a collective reflection of community experiences, imagination, and aspirations. In contrast, history requires verifiable sources as its foundation. These findings underscore the importance of preserving both as integral parts of the nation’s collective memory. The study implies the need for a synergistic approach that combines folkloristic and historiographical perspectives in education and cultural preservation. The originality of this research lies in its integrated approach, combining narrative analysis with the exploration of historical sites to trace the interconnection between collective memory, myth, and historical fact within the context of contemporary Indonesia
