論 文 内 容 の 要 旨 
 
人間にとって「食べること」は生きていく中での基本中の基本である。農業が始まり，す
べての人が食べることに 1 日の生活を費やさなくなってきたとき，ある集団においてその集
団の構成員すべての食を確保することは，その集団の重要な任務となっていった。 
 現代において，この任務，すなわち食料の安全保障の任務は主として国が担うこととなっ
ている。この任務の重要性はいかなるときにも変わることはないが，世界の食料の状況，国
内の食料の状況によって，人々の食料安全保障についての重要性に関する意識は異なってく
る。 
現在，わが国の農業を取り巻く環境は，複雑化してきている。こうしたなかで，わが国の
農業政策のなかでも最も重要な課題が国民に対する食料の安定供給であるのは当然であり，
その政策的な課題として，国民の食と生命の保全のための食料安全保障論が重要な課題とな
る。 
本研究においては，筆者が農業政策の部署において食料問題にかかわる政策的担当を長年
にわたって行ってきたことも踏まえ，食料安全保障についてのこれまでの考え方を整理する
とともに，その今日的意義と様々な農業政策が食料安全保障の考え方とどう合致しているの
か，今後どういう課題があるのか等について考察した。 
食料安全保障については，日本の国民がキチンと食べて行けるようにするための方策であ
り，基本的には，①しっかりとした国内生産，②安定的な輸入，③いざというときのための
備蓄について十全な政策をとることをいう。 
 研究に当たっては，背景にある農業政策と食料安全保障論を，第１にその食料安全保障論
が登場した歴史的背景を 19 世紀半ばのイギリスの穀物法撤廃にまで遡り，そこでの国際分
業論とその後登場する国民経済の枠組みの中で重要となる食料安全保障論の歴史的経緯に
ついて分析を行い，わが国の食料安全保障論の歴史的位相を明らかにすることを目指した。

第２に，一国の国民経済においてはグローバル化が進んだとしても，「食料主権」の国際
運動に見られるように，食料安全保障論は第 1 次世界大戦，第２次世界大戦という歴史的な
経験知からして重要な課題となるのであり，現在の日本の農業政策においても食料自給率と
食料安全保障論が依然として重要な農業政策の根幹であることを明らかにしようとした。 
第３に，以上も踏まえ，食料安全保障論はメインシステムとしての自給率向上論だけでな
く，国際的な貿易の枠組みに規定される中での取り組みであるサブシステムの構築について
論じることとした。 
すなわち，現在危機的な自給率の低下が叫ばれているが，自給率の向上は依然として重要
な政策的課題ではあるものの，これをメインシステムとするとするならば，このメインシス
テムは経済のグローバル化のなかでの国際的な貿易枠組みのなかに大きく政治経済学的に
規定されてＴＰＰやＥＰＡ，ＲＣＥＰなどの農業政策外からの大きな影響を受けてその向上
を図ることは容易ではないことが示されている。 
本研究ではメインシステムとしての自給率向上は，食料安全保障の見地から依然，重要な
政策であるという認識には変わりはないが，従来議論されてこなかったサブシステムの構築
をこれとの関連で提起することが重要と考えている。 
それは，食料自給率の向上を将来的に展望するうえでは，現在の農業生産力を維持するば
かりではなく，潜在的農業生産力をも合わせたかたちでの政策的補完関係が重要だと考える
からである。従来までの食料安全保障論はメインシステムの考察のみに主眼が置かれ，サブ
システムの構築が十分主張されたとは言いがたい。 
本研究ではこの点にも力点をおいて考察し，将来的な自給率向上や食料安全保障を実現す
るために，バイオマス利活用や担い手論の育成，さらには攻めの農政による輸出産業の形成
も潜在的農業生産力の維持につながり，将来の安全保障論につながる可能性を担保するもの
であることを主張した。この点は本論文の従来の研究にはない特徴となっている。 
 具体的には，第１章において，食料安全保障論の議論についての歴史的展開を確認するた
めに，マルサスとリカードによる経済学的論争のうち貿易自由化と農業保護に関する論争か
ら食料安全保障論について整理した。マルサスとリカードの論争は，①工業国として国際分
業を進めるべきか，それとも農業と工業を同時に発展させていくべきか，②いざというとき
のために穀物自給体制をつくることが必要か，③地主，資本家，労働者という３つの階級に
及ぼす影響をどう考えるか，という論点であったが，論争の対象となった穀物法は，1815
年には強化され，1846 年に廃止された。穀物法廃止後のイギリス農業について，廃止直後
には自給率の低下は起こらず，しばらくして自給率低下を経たのち増産政策により自給率向
上が進んだ。これについては，政策的論点（穀物法の廃止は海外の安い小麦が入ってくるよ
うになる）を検討する際に，技術の観点（単収の向上など）や海外農業生産国の状況につい
ても考慮することが必要であることを明らかにするとともに，マルサスの論じた内容が現在

の日本の食料安全保障問題を論じるに当たっても非常に重要な意味を持つことを指摘した。 
次いで第２章において，我が国の食料安全保障論について，その成立と発展についてのこ
れまでの学説を概括しながら，特に国際関係の変化が政策に与える影響に着目し，国際関係
の変化が国民及び政策当局にどう受け止められるかによって，それに対応しようとして講じ
られる政策が影響を受け，具体的な食料安全保障論の内容を規定しているのではないかとい
う仮定を検証した。 
わが国で食料安全保障が正面から政策課題として論じられるようになるのは意外に遅く，
1962 年に制定された農業基本法においては，食料安全保障を正面から論じた条文はないこ
とを指摘し，食料安全保障論が議論されるようになったのはアメリカの大豆の禁輸騒動など
が発生した 1973 年ころであり，これは世界的な食料需給の激動を背景にして関心がもたれ
るようになったことが影響していることを明らかにした。 
このころの政府の対応であるが，はじめて食料安全保障の重要性について提言がなされ，
国内生産の確保，安定的輸入の確保，不測の事態に備える備蓄の重要性が政府の共通認識に
なる一方，経済界からは国境措置で農家を守ることの限界について意見が出され，生産性の
向上に重点を置くべきとの提言がなされた。 
ここにおいて，貿易自由化を進めつつ国内農業の強化を図るという方針がとられるわけで
あるが，この結果として輸入が増えないことを実現する政策が実現可能かという課題がつき
つけられることとなったことを指摘した。 
次いで，第３章において，世界の食料需給の状況の推移とそれに関して留意すべき点につ
いて俯瞰し，特に農産物貿易の工業製品貿易と異なる特徴について分析した。 
1972 年にアメリカと旧ソ連の世界同時不作が発生して食料危機が騒がれたあとは，しば
らく穀物生産の過剰基調が続いたが，2006 年末ごろより世界の穀物需給に構造変化が生じ
た。2006 年から 2008 年にかけて穀物価格は急騰したが，その原因は，需要（人口と食肉
類消費の増加）と供給（単収増加，耕作面積増加についての不透明感）の関係が主であるが，
同時に投機の問題もあること，食料の需給問題は，単に消費を我慢すればいいという状況だ
けでなく，飢餓人口の増加など深刻な影響が発生することを指摘した。 
第４章においては，食料安全保障の状況を示す指標として用いられている食料自給率とい
う指標について，その概念といくつかの種類の食料自給率指標があることについて，その意
味する内容の確認とその自給率が用いられる意義づけについて検討し，その時代の農業をと
りまく状況を踏まえた政策遂行と自給率指標が関連していることを明らかにした。 
食料・農業・農村基本法が制定され，食料・農業・農村基本計画に食料自給率の目標が設
定されたのは 2000 年からであり，カロリーベース，金額ベース等の数値が設定されたが，
それは政策上の重要課題を踏まえて重点の置き方が変更されてきていることを指摘すると
ともに，1965 年以降の数値と主な出来事を整理することにより分析し，時々の自給率の数

値と上昇・下降の状況が食料安全保障論の議論にも影響を与えていることについて指摘した。 
また，食料自給率減少の原因として，食生活の変化と農業生産においてカロリーの高い農
産物生産から単価の高い農産物生産への変化が影響していることを確認した。 
第５章では，これまでの論考を踏まえ，食料安全保障についての考え方と食料安全保障を
達成する方策について従来から重視されてきた国内生産，安定輸入，備蓄という政策の推進
に当たって力を置かれてきた水田の有効活用，輸入先の多角化などについての課題について
これまでの議論を整理するとともに，その努力が今後とも重要なことを指摘した。 
さらに，第６章において，食料安全保障を充実させる観点から必要なこと，いわゆるサブ
システムについての新たな政策についての食料安全保障論との関係を分析した。 
攻めの農政といわれるもののうち，重要なものは，日本の農業の弱い部分を無理に維持・
増強しようとするのではなく強い部分を活用し，日本の需要を超えて大きな需要がある海外
に対する輸出を推進することであり，これは食料安全保障論の観点からもいざというときの
食料転換・生産転換の観点から重要なことを指摘した。 
また，担い手の育成に関しては，単に条件のいい農地における強い農業を振興するだけで
は食料安全保障の実はあげられず，高齢者の活躍や中山間地農業などの重要性が増している
ことを指摘した。 
 第７章，第８章においては，これまで単独で論じられることの多かったバイオマス利活用
について食料安全保障の観点を加味して論じるとともに，日本の農山漁村の課題と食料安全
保障の関係という観点から，農山漁村における水政策と食料安全保障，農山漁村におけるソ
ーシャルキャピタルと食料安全保障，スマート農業と食料安全保障について，最近の政策の
動向を分析した。 
終章では，急遽，新型コロナウイルス感染症に関する最近の動きについても検証し，食料
安全保障についての考え方を整理しておくことは，いつでも大事であるということを再指摘
した。 
現代の日本においては，さまざまな経済活動が行われ，豊かな生活を提供するための様々
な努力がなされてきた。この観点からの農林水産業は，「美味しい食を楽しんで食べる。」と
いう観点から人間の身体を作り活動のエネルギー源となる食料を超えた付加価値の提供が
重要とされてきた。確かに，食は単なる人間のエネルギー源であるだけでなく，文化的側面
を含めて様々な価値を提供している。 
日本の農林水産政策は，この様々な価値を提供することにより，人々の生活を豊かにする
とともに農林水産業を産業として発展させ，農林水産業に従事する人々の生活を発展させ，
ひいては日本経済を発展させていくことに注力してきたし，これからもそうするべきである。 
しかし，これにすべての政策の根本には，「その国の人々を飢えさせない」という食料安
全保障政策がしっかりと構築されていなければならない。結局，国内生産，安定輸入，備蓄

の組み合わせをその時々の国際情勢も踏まえつつ適切にとっていくことが大切であるとい
う結論は現在においても同様である。 
改めて，わが国における食料安全保障論の歴史的経緯を見ると，いくつかの画期が指摘さ
れる。明治 20 年代から 30 年代に綿織物の原料となる原棉の自由化では，東京高等商業の
福田徳三 vs 東京帝国大学の横井時敬との自由化をめぐる攻防の論戦があった。 
また，1960 年代以降の農産物の自由化政策における小麦の例もある。国際的に高いと言
われていた小麦は自由化によるアメリカからの輸入小麦に太刀打ちできず，麦作がほとんど
崩壊し，ようやく復活しつつある小麦も未だ自給率において 12％（2018 年度）程度である。 
以上，本論文で明らかになったことは，21 世紀のわが国の食料問題の趨勢を考えていく
うえでは，わが国の歴史的位相を踏まえた食料安全保障論が依然として重要であることであ
り，重ねてこのことを指摘しておきたい。 
食料安全保障論についての様々な議論はこれからも続くと考えられるが，これらの点も踏
まえて，様々な状況を踏まえた議論が展開されることを望むものである。 
 
 
審 査 報 告 概 要 
 
本論文は，我が国の農業を取り巻く環境が複雑化しているなかで，国民に対する食料の安
定供給，すなわち食料安全保障論の歴史的位相を明らかにし，食料自給率の社会経済的意義
を踏まえた新たな政策的視点からの食料安全保障の重要性を多面的に解明したものである。
第 1 に食料安全保障論を 19 世紀半ばのイギリスの穀物法撤廃に遡って検討し，我が国の食
料安全保障論の歴史的位相を明らかにした。第 2に国民経済においてグローバル化が進展し
ようとも，食料自給率と食料安全保障論が重要な農業政策の根幹であること，第 3にメイン
システムとしての自給率向上策のみならず，サブシステムとしてのバイオマス利活用や担い
手育成，輸出産業形成等が潜在的農業生産力の維持につながり，将来の安全保障論につなが
る可能性を担保するものであることを明らかにした。 
本論文は食料政策研究において食料安全保障論の歴史的位相と新たな政策的視点を解明
した研究であり，審査員一同は博士（経営学）の学位を授与する価値があると判断した。

Cambodia is in the midst of transition from traditional subsistent to modern commercial ones 
(Slayton et al., 2015). Modern agriculture systems have been practiced in many countries, including 
Cambodia, with the aim of poverty alleviation, food security, and increasing competitiveness. 
Although conventional agriculture has many large-scale positive effects, such as high yields in crops 
and increases food supply through the adoption of new technologies, the intensive use of chemical 
and mechanization has led to the destruction of the soil and water resources. It has also damaged the 
critical supporting ecosystems (OECD, 2001). As the matter of fact, from the enormous floods in 
2011 to the prolonged droughts in 2019, Cambodian farmers have increasingly exposed to the 
adverse effects of climate-related risks, both in crop growth and disease outbreak. Therefore, those 
negative impacts have led to a drive for more sustainable farming systems in Cambodia such as 
Integrated Pest Management, Farmer Field Schools, Rice Intensification System , and organic 
farming. Sustainable farming system such as organic farming has the potential for targeting niche 
markets and creating high farming incomes, unfortunately, it is reported that little of Cambodian 
farm households chose to practice this system and some are reverted to conventional farming. In 
order to realize the sustainable agricultural development, agricultural cooperative played a very 
important and relevant role to promote sustainable agriculture and facilitate members both 
financially and socially. By observing these matters and opportunities, this study aims to grasp the 
differences between conventional and sustainable farming, identify the contributions of agricultural 
cooperative to promote sustainable farming, and to determine the constraints and conditions to 
develop sustainable farming for future growth.

1. Economic Analysis between Conventional and Sustainable Rice Farming 
This study aims to identify the differences in characteristics and economic performances of 3 
farming systems in the study area: conventional, partially organic, and organic farming, and to 
identify the impacts of sustainable agriculture toward farmers in Prey Kabbas District, Takeo, 
Cambodia. Totally 75 rice farmers were interviewed and categorized into three groups. Three 
farming systems were found in the study area: conventional, and two sustainable rice farming 
(partially organic and organic rice farming). Sustainable rice farmers had better education compare 
to conventional farmers in the study area. This would explain that sustainable rice farmers are seem 
likely to accept new farming approach and be more aware of sustainable rice farming concept and its 
benefits.  
The production of organic rice ensured the most profit in terms of gross margin and total cash 
income. However, when total net profit was analyzed, the result showed conventional, partially 
organic, and organic rice farming was not significantly different. It is understandable since organic 
farming in the study area obtained higher yield and premium price compare to conventional and 
partially organic rice. Although partially organic rice practiced in consideration of environment and 
health purposes, however, the average price of partially organic rice was not significantly different 
from conventional rice, which resulted in less profitable than organic rice farming.  
However, when non-cash expenses took into account in this study, organic rice was not 
significantly the most profitable one among groups. In general, most organic rice farmers used their 
on-farm resources to do organic farming; however, in this specific study area, farmers tended to 
purchase lots of animal manure from farmers from other villages. Higher organic fertilizer and 
family labor costs resulted in less total net profit in comparison to conventional and partially organic 
farming. This result also realized the reason behind the concerns of farmers to continue producing 
the organic products in the study area. 
 
2. Constraints and Conditions to Develop Sustainable Farming 
75 farmers were interviewed to observe the conditions and constraints to adopt sustainable 
farming in the study area. The findings revealed that information on the economic feasibility of 
organic farming, the possible health consequences of agrochemical products, and the management of 
pests and soil have motivated farmers to adopt sustainable farming. However, some of adopted 
farmers reverted back to conventional farming. There are 5 challenges of adopting sustainable 
farming were found: : (i) lack of organic material, (ii) labor shortage, (iii) long growing period, (iv) 
low yield, and (v) market instability. Targeted farmers believed that the labor shortage was the main 
reason that hinders them from adopting organic farming. It is understandable since organic

techniques are focus on labor-intensive method, which resulted in higher numbers of labors. Lack of 
organic material was also mentioned as the challenge due to most of the farmers in the study are 
aging, and they found it hard to find or collect the organic materials around their village. As 
mentioned, farmers tended to purchase lots of animal manure from other farmers even though the 
price of the animal manure was much higher compared to the inorganic fertilizer. The long growing 
period and market instability were concerned by studied farmers as well. They noted that organic 
farming had a more prolonged production stage, which hindered them from producing rice more than 
once in a year. Furthermore, it was hard for them to find a market for organic products with the 
premium price. For promotion of sustainable farming, farmers group is crucial. Farmers group can 
ease farmers to enhance productivity and supply capability of sustainable agricultural production. 
Promoting sustainable farming should be based on rainfed situation where agrochemical application 
already low and little support of irrigation system. In addition, technique that support sustainable 
farming should be practical and effective for the farmers to follow, especially successful 
demonstration from outstanding farmers is very important. 
 
3. The Contributions of Agricultural Cooperatives to Promote Sustainable Farming 
This study aims to identify agricultural cooperatives' contributions to promote sustainable farming 
and its challenges, based on interviews with ACs members. In order to get these objectives, the 
differences in socio-economic characteristics between members of agricultural cooperatives and 
non-members and the differences in costs and returns are examined. This study is based on the 
survey conducted in Prey Kabbas District, Takeo Province in July 2019. Mixed method was 
employed and three Agricultural cooperatives that promoted sustainable farming in the research area were 
selected: Reaksmey RongReung Agricultural Cooperative (RR AC), Chomnoum Chomreun Phal 
Agricultural Cooperative (CC AC), and Sdok Sdom Agricultural Cooperative (CC AC). A total of 140 
farmers included 30 ACs members from each agricultural cooperatives, and 50 non-members were 
randomly selected and interviewed using a semi-structured interview. The result showed that agricultural 
cooperatives are effectively promote sustainable farming in the research area. Although members of 
agricultural cooperatives reported that there were no differences in paddy yields and net profit 
relative to non-members, there were some positive impacts on gross margin. Besides, ACs members 
would certainly ensure better profit if they could utilize all the natural resources around their 
households and access to more agricultural machines.  
These impacts have benefited members through training them in sustainable farming techniques 
with less use of agrochemicals, providing them with natural materials, assisting them with loans at 
low-interest rates, entry to the natural goods market, and developing relationships and alliances to

produce greater products at lower prices.  
Yet, many constraints hindered the development of agricultural cooperatives in the studied area. 
Agricultural cooperatives’ limited ability to extend credit and market services have hindered many 
ACs members from adopting sustainable and ensuring their productivity. Other vital challenges for 
ACs in the study areas are limited planning skills, marketing power, lack of educated management 
members, lack of external support, and weak enforcement of internal rules and regulations. 
 
Conclusion 
At the very least, this study offered crucial insights into and essential evidence on the differences 
between conventional and sustainable farming, the constraints of adopting sustainable farming and 
the effects of participation in agricultural cooperatives on the implementation of sustainable farming 
and the significant challenges facing by agricultural cooperatives. Strengthening agricultural 
cooperatives to boost rural well-being effectively and foster sustainable farming for potential future 
agricultural development is a feasible and rational imperative for all primary stalk holders. 
 
 
審 査 報 告 概 要 
 
本研究は，カンボジアにおいて近年注目されてきた持続的稲作の詳細な経営分析を通じて，
その発展の可能性と条件を明らかにしたものである。 
本研究では，まず，カンボジア南部に位置するタケオ県において，持続的稲作経営と慣行
稲作経営の収益性の比較を行った。先行研究では，有機稲作経営と慣行稲作経営の比較しか
行われていなかったが，本研究は，その中間的な経営に当たる減農薬稲作経営についても比
較対象の一つとした。その結果，有機稲作と減農薬稲作を合わせた持続的稲作に一定の経営
的なメリットがあることを明らかにした。 
 また，タケオ県の農業協同組合が持続的稲作経営の発展に貢献していることを実証した。
これまでの先行研究の中には，農協の役割を指摘するものの，実証できていなかったが，本
研究では，プロビット分析を通じて，農協加入が持続的稲作経営の発展にプラス要因となっ
ていることを明らかにした。加えて，事例分析によって，農業協同組合が，IPM などの持続
的稲作技術の普及，低利融資，有機米市場へのアクセスなどを通じて，持続的稲作の普及・
定着に効果的に機能していることを実証した。 
 その他，有機稲作経営に影響を与える要因の特定を行った。先行研究では，年齢が高いこ
とがプラス要因として捉えられていたが，本研究では稲作経験年数こそがプラス要因である
ことを明らかにした。

他方で，有機稲作の制約要因として，労働集約的であることなども示された。そのことは，
経営規模がマイナス要因であるというプロビット分析結果，つまり逆に言えば，小規模ほど，
有機稲作経営に有利に作用するという分析結果と密接に関連している。その点も本論文で明
らかにされたところである。 
以上より，本研究の成果は，カンボジアの持続的稲作経営に関して多くの新規性を含むも
のであるとともに，カンボジアにおける持続的稲作のさらなる発展に貢献できる研究成果であ
ると認められる。 
よって，審査員一同は博士（国際農業開発学）の学位を授与する価値があると判断した。

論 文 内 容 の 要 旨 
 
近年，ライフスタイルの多様化により，一次加工品であるカット野菜の需要が増加してい
る。カット加工の原料用野菜には，定時，定量，定価格，定品質が求められるが，ここ数年，
天候不順により安定供給が難しくなっている。カット野菜原料として最も需要の高いキャベ
ツも例外ではなく，解決策のひとつとして数か月程度の貯蔵法の確立が求められている。カ
ット加工後のキャベツの品質保持に関しても課題があり，切断面の褐変と異臭の発生によっ
て消費期限は 3～4 日と非常に短い。食品ロス軽減の意味からも，消費期限の延長が必要で
ある。 
これらを背景に，本研究では，まず第 1 章において，加工原料用キャベツを安定供給する
ための貯蔵条件を温度，湿度，ガス環境の面から検討した。さらに実用化に向けて，プラス
チックコンテナでの貯蔵試験を試みた。次いで第 2 章では，まずカットキャベツの品質劣化
要因である褐変と異臭の発生を評価できる方法を決定した。その評価方法を用いて，カット
キャベツの品質保持期間を延長させることを目的に，プレハーベストの要因として，品種，
窒素施肥条件を検討し，またポストハーベスト要因として，キャベツに含まれる辛み成分で
あるアリルイソチオシアネート（AITC）の利用，密封時に初期ガス濃度を調製する Active 
MA 包装の効果について検討した。 
 
第 1章 加工原料用キャベツの長期貯蔵 
第 1 節 個包装における貯蔵条件 
愛知県産寒玉系キャベツについて，温度（0℃，3℃），湿度（高湿度，低湿度），包装（0.03mm
厚延伸ポリプロピレン（OPP））の有無を組み合わせた計 8 試験区で 3 か月間の長期貯蔵を
試みた。貯蔵中の実測温度（かっこ内は最低温度）は，3℃低湿度区，3℃高湿度区，0℃低

湿度区，0℃高湿度区でそれぞれ 2.7℃（1.5℃），2.6℃（1.9℃），-0.3℃（-0.9℃），-0.1℃（-0.4℃）
であった。とくに 0℃貯蔵区では，最低温度をキャベツの凍結温度（-0.9℃）以上に制御で
きた。湿度は 3℃低湿度区，0℃低湿度区でそれぞれ 80%，91%，高湿度区ではいずれも≧
95%であった。貯蔵 3 か月後の外観は，0℃で貯蔵するとほとんどの試験区で緑色が保持さ
れ，黄変がみられた 0℃無包装区でもその発生は外葉に限られていた。一方 3℃貯蔵では黄
変と萎れの発生が著しかったが，包装を行うことでその発生を軽減できた。原料重量に対す
るカットキャベツの製品割合（歩留まり率）をみると，0℃のすべての試験区および 3℃で
包装を行った試験区で 3 か月間 70％以上を確保できた。 
第 2 節 大袋包装における貯蔵条件 
さらに実用化に向けた貯蔵条件を明らかにするため，加工原料用キャベツの出荷に用いら
れているプラスチックコンテナを使って 3℃条件下での貯蔵を試みた。プラスチックコンテ
ナを積み重ねてその全体を 0.03mm 厚ポリエチレンフィルム（PE）でおおった外包装区で
は，高湿度に保持されていたため重量減少率は低く抑えられたものの，ガスコントロールが
できていなかったため歩留まり率は 56%と低くなった。そこでプラスチックコンテナに PE
を内装し，キャベツを入れた後に袋開口部を何重にも折り込みテープ止めした内包装区を設
けた。その結果，袋内は酸素・二酸化炭素濃度とも 6%程度で推移し，外葉の緑色が保持さ
れ，歩留まり率も 75%以上と高い値を示した。食味に関わる成分として遊離アミノ酸 18 種
を貯蔵前後で比較したところ，3 か月貯蔵中に半数以上の遊離アミノ酸が増加したが，呈味
特性に変化はみられなかった。さらに現場で利用できる冷蔵庫の温度実測値に基づき 10℃
貯蔵試験を行った。その結果，3℃貯蔵に比べると劣るものの，内包装によってガスコント
ロールすることで，歩留まり率 70%を維持できた。 
以上のように，加工原料用キャベツの安定供給には，低温，高湿が有効で，中でも 0℃貯
蔵の品質保持効果が高かった。さらに省エネルギーと社会実装の観点から大袋包装における
貯蔵条件の検討を行った結果，フィルム包装を利用することで 10℃貯蔵でも 3 か月間歩留
まり率 70%を確保することができた。 
 
第 2章 カットキャベツの品質保持期間の延長 
第 1 節 褐変特性の評価法の考案  
カットキャベツの褐変特性を，異なるガス透過特性をもった 6 種類のフィルムで評価した。
その結果，0.03mm 厚の低密度ポリエチレンおよび微細孔フィルム（P フィルム）を使用し
て 10℃で保存することにより，袋内を酸素濃度 5%程度に維持でき，異臭を発生させること
なく褐変特性の評価が可能であった。 
第 2 節 品種間差異について  
キャベツ 25 品種の切断面の褐変特性を，P フィルムを使用して評価した。その結果，品

質保持期間は，最も短い‘YR 晴信’で 2.2 日，最も長い‘彩ひかり’および ‘YR 清美’ 
で 7.0 日であり，品種により 3 倍以上の差が認められた。 
第 3 節 窒素施肥条件による品質保持期間の違い 
キャベツ栽培中の窒素施肥条件を慣行の半分（N 少），慣行，慣行の 2 倍（N 多）と 3 段
階に設定し，収穫後のカットキャベツにおける球重および品質保持期間への影響を検討した。
球重は試験区間で差は認められなかった一方，品質保持期間は，N 少区で最も長く 9.2 日，
N 多区で最も短く 5.2 日であった。翌年，栽培規模を拡大して継続調査を行い，同時にキ
ャベツの主要な辛み成分であり褐変しにくい品種に多く含まれるとされるアリルイソチオ
シアネート（AITC）量と遊離アミノ酸含量を測定した。その結果，球重，品質保持期間お
よび遊離アミノ酸含量については試験区間で差は認められなかったが，AITC 量は N 少区で
最も高い値を示した。 
第 4 節 アリルイソチオシアネート（AITC）処理の効果 
収穫後の褐変抑制法として外生 AITC の包装前処理が検討されてきた。AITC 溶液に直接
浸漬する方法や AITC をシクロデキストリンに包接して徐放する方法が試みられてきたが，
安定した効果が得られなかった。新たな方法として密閉容器内でガス化した AITC を包装前
のカットキャベツに曝露処理する方法を考案した。処理条件を検討したところ，AITC を
30% エタノールで 0.05%に調整後 1 時間曝露処理することで，品質保持期間の延長効果が
確認できた。そこで品種による延長効果の違いを比較したところ，品質保持期間を 5.0 日か
ら 7.6 日まで延長できる品種‘輝吉’がある一方，4.0 日から 4.6 日までしか延長しない品
種‘信州 868’も確認された。 
第 5 節 Active MA 包装の効果 
 袋内のガス組成を人為的に改変して品質保持を図る Active MA 包装は，密封してすぐに
品質保持に最適なガス濃度に調製できるほか，従来 MA 包装では実現できない酸素，二酸
化炭素濃度の組み合わせも可能である。そこで，カットキャベツの Active MA 包装の褐変
抑制効果について検討した。まず，カットキャベツの品質保持に最適なガス濃度といわれる
5%酸素，15%二酸化炭素に調製後，異なるガス透過特性をもった 6 種類のフィルムに入れ
評価したところ，P フィルムの品質保持期間が最長の 6 日間を示した。さらに品質保持期間
を延ばすために，大気よりも高濃度の酸素と二酸化炭素を組み合わせた Active MA 包装を
試みた。酸素濃度を 5，20，50，80%，二酸化炭素濃度を 0，15%に調製し酸素透過度の低
いナイロンポリ（NP）および P フィルムで包装した結果，酸素 50%，二酸化炭素 15%に調
製後 NP で包装した試験区で，品質保持期間が最長の 7 日間となった。 
以上のように，実際の流通温度に近い 10℃貯蔵を前提として褐変特性評価法を決め，こ
の方法で，品種，窒素施肥量，包装前の AITC 曝露処理および Active MA 包装の褐変抑制
効果を検討した。その結果，品質保持期間を現状の 3～4 日から 1 週間程度まで延長できる

可能性を明らかにした。 
本研究では，加工原料用キャベツの安定供給に向けた貯蔵条件およびカット加工後の品質
保持について検討した。0℃貯蔵では包装せずに，10℃貯蔵でもフィルム包装を利用するこ
とで 3 か月間 70%以上の歩留まり率を確保できた。カット加工後のキャベツの品質保持に
ついては，品種の選定，包装前の AITC 処理および高濃度酸素，二酸化炭素の利用を提案し，
いずれも品質保持期間を 1 週間程度まで延長できる条件を明らかにした。これらの研究成果
は，消費期限の長いカットキャベツの安定供給に貢献するものである。 
 
 
審 査 報 告 概 要 
 
近年，ライフスタイルの多様化によりカット野菜の需要が増加している。申請者は，キャ
ベツを対象に，原料の安定供給とカット後の消費期限の延長技術の確立を試みた。原料キャ
ベツの貯蔵には，低温，高湿が有効で，中でも 0℃貯蔵の品質保持効果が高かった。社会実
装の観点から 10℃貯蔵での品質保持条件を検討したところ，プラスチックフィルム包装を
利用することで 3 か月間は品質保持できることを明らかにした。一方，カットキャベツの消
費期限は，切断面の褐変と異臭の発生により 3～4 日と短い。消費期限の延長技術の開発に
先立ち，酸素透過度が比較的高い微細孔フィルムを使った品質評価法を確立した。この方法
を使って，品質保持に影響する栽培条件，収穫後条件を検討した結果，消費期限を 1 週間ま
で安定的に延長できる方法として，品種の選択，キャベツに含まれる辛み成分アリルイソチ
オシアネートの包装前処理，さらに密封時に袋内のガス濃度を人為的に改変する Active MA
包装が有効であることを見出した。以上，本論文は消費期限の長いカットキャベツの安定供
給に貢献したものであり，これらの研究成果等を詳細に検討した結果，審査委員一同は博士
（農学）の学位を授与する価値があると判断した。

Chapter 1: Background and objectives  
This study introduces the significance of high elevated mountain regions of Pamir Hindu Kush in 
Afghanistan, which are substantial resources for downstream areas in terms of hydrology and water 
resource management. The seasonal snowmelt dynamics from the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges 
significantly influence the flow of the Amu River in Afghanistan. That introduces the issues of 
flooding and riverbank erosion in Afghanistan. It also describes the research statements of the 
problem, research questions, and objectives, of this research, the general study area, data, and the 
implementation tools used in the experiments to achieve the defined objectives. 
Most of the streams flow and rivers in Afghanistan originate from mountain ranges that are usually 
covered by semi-permanent and permanent snow and glaciers. Snow water runoff is the majority of 
the water resources in indispensable ranges. The population of this country is mainly dependent upon 
mountain snowpack meltwater for irrigation, hydropower, and domestic purposes. The effects on 
people, communities, and ecosystems can be devastated with the most visible impacts including 
catastrophic floods, riverbank erosion, landslides, and droughts. Flooding is the most frequently 
occurring natural hazard in Afghanistan, caused by a combination of steep slopes in the headwaters, 
and either heavy rains or rapid snowmelt. Lack of vegetation and denudation of mountain areas 
further contribute to the occurrence of flooding and riverbank erosion associated with loss of life, 
houses, infrastructures, agricultural lands, and damage to assets.

Chapter 2: Monitoring of Riverbank Erosion and Shoreline Movement at Amu River Using 
Remote Sensing and GIS 
 We examine the quantification of riverbank erosion trend, by detecting the shoreline changes and river 
migration of Amu River, during the 14 years in Qarqin district of Afghanistan. This study may provide the 
advocatory potential inputs to policymakers in war-torn countries to manage riverbank erosion. In this 
study, Landsat images (TM/ETM/OLI TRI) from 2000 to 2014 were used to categorize the eroded area 
and identify shoreline change locations. Furthermore, the images were classified into five different classes, 
i.e., water, built-up, barren land, sandbank, and agricultural land. River boundaries were digitized from 
the shorelines on the images from 2000 to 2014. Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) was applied 
to calculate shoreline movement. Endpoint Rate (EPR) and Linear Regression Rate (LRR), were used to 
compute long-term changes for the analysis.  
 The study found that the river movement was toward the Afghanistan side, i.e., the south-word. 
The threat of losing the land of Afghanistan was estimated to be ca. 362.4 ha/y. The total eroded area 
was calculated to be 1,984 ha, 1,410 ha, and 1,680 ha from 2000-2005, 2005-2010, and 2010- 2014, 
respectively. The shoreline was demarcated in each image and the area was categorized into three 
zones correspond to the erosion trend, i.e., lower as moderate eroded zone, central as high eroded 
zone, and upper as the lower eroded zone. The comprehensive and quantitative assessment of the 
Amu River movement in the long term requires Spatio-temporal analysis of the snowmelt dynamics 
and the hydrological potential of seasonal snow in the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges. Furthermore, the 
river discharge or the runoff is largely dependent upon the hydrological potential of the seasonal 
snow in the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges. 
 
Chapter 3: The role of seasonal snow as a primary water resource in the Pamir ranges of 
northern Afghanistan 
 Subsequently, this study was designed to devise strategies based on active microwave remote 
sensing for the monitoring of snow depth and Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) during the early winter 
and the melt season. For the estimation of snow depth and SWE, we utilized multi-temporal C-band 
(5.405 GHz) Sentinel-1 dual polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) with a Differential 
Interferometric SAR (DInSAR)-based framework. In the proposed approach, the estimated DInSAR 
line of sight displacements in the vertical transmit-vertical receive (VV) and vertical 
transmit-horizontal receive (VH) channels were improved by incorporating modeled information of 
snow permittivity and snow density, and the scale was enhanced by utilizing snow depth information 
from the available ground stations, SWE is estimated as the product of snow depth and density. 
 Two seasonal datasets were considered for the experiments corresponding to the peak winter

season (February 2019) and early melt season (March 2019). The spatial distribution of the snow 
depth and the SWE were also analyzed upon masking for the SCA. Due to the extensive cloud cover 
in March, the SCA from February derived from Landsat-8 imagery was used. The results were 
validated with the available nearest field measurements. A good correlation determined by the 
coefficient of determination of 0.82 and 0.57, with Root Mean Square Errors of 2.33 and 1.44 m, for 
the peak winter and the early melt season, respectively, was observed between the snow depth 
estimates and the field measurements. Further, the snow depth estimates from the proposed approach 
were observed to be significantly better than the DInSAR displacements based on the correlation 
with respect to the field measurements. Moreover, SWE comparison between the results observed 
from Sentinel-1 data with respect to field observations showed very high agreement determined by 
the overall correlation of coefficient of 0.926, and a Root Mean Square Error of 2.597 mm. 
 
Chapter 4: High-resolution mapping of seasonal snow cover extent using machine 
learning-based integration of multi-sensor data. 
 Precise determination of Snow Cover Area (SCA) is significant in hydrological and climate 
modeling. Additionally, when utilizing radar data for the estimation of hydrological parameters such 
as the SWE, the total hydrological capacity of the watershed requires precise information on the 
SCA. Typically, the SCA products available from moderate resolution sensors such as MODIS are 
not suitable for regional-scale analysis. Due to the extensive cloud cover in winters, high-resolution 
spaceborne multispectral data such as the Landsat-8 or the Sentinel-2 do not yield sufficient 
information for the mapping of SCA.  
 Thus, a framework is proposed to derive a high-resolution SCA product from freely available 
spaceborne remote sensing data. The proposed framework utilizes the Sentinel-1 multi-temporal 
products and MODIS surface reflectance data. Both these products are available at much higher 
repeatability and spatial coverage when compared with Sentinel-2 or Landsat-8 data. The proposed 
methodology makes use of the sensitivity of the parameters derivable from the Sentinel-1 datasets 
with respect to snow. Different parameters such as the Entropy Alpha, backscatter coefficients (σ0), 
interferometric coherence, etc. are integrated with the spatially resampled NDSI derived from 
MODIS surface reflectance bands to estimate the SCA. These parameters are incorporated in an 
ML-based regression framework for the supervised classification which yields a simulated composite 
NDSI which is thresholded to retrieve the SCA. The reference data in this study for the training of 
the ML model and validation is generated from corresponding pan-sharpened Landsat-8 imagery 
which yields the same resolution of 15m as the processed Sentinel-1 products.

Chapter 5: Assessment of riverbank erosion and channel shifting of the Amu Darya in 
northern Afghanistan 
 Riverbank erosion is an issue of major importance to channel shifting in the Amu River basin of 
Afghanistan. Afghanistan has been constantly losing precious land over the years due to the Amu 
riverbank erosion. It is known that the flooding events caused by abrupt flows in the Amu River riverbank 
erosion are governed by hydrological parameters including those determined from the seasonal snow in 
the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges and the precipitation. The use of existing models of riverbank migration 
without adequate calibration can lead to large systematic errors in the prediction of bank erosion rates. 
This is due to the fact that there is a significant lack of knowledge in quantifying the riverbank erosion 
and relating it to the hydro-meteorological phenomenon in the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges.  
 Earlier it was determined that the seasonal snowmelt in the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges is one of the 
major factors in the Amu River flooding in northern Afghanistan. Riverbank erosion and shoreline 
changes caused by flooding events are some of the most significant geomorphological environment and 
natural disaster problems in the non-vegetated regions of the Amu River in northern Afghanistan. 
Riverbank erosion is an issue of major importance to channel shifting in the Amu River basin of 
Afghanistan. Afghanistan has been constantly losing precious land over the years due to the Amu 
riverbank erosion. It is known that the flooding events caused by abrupt flows in the Amu River which 
results in riverbank erosion are governed by hydrological parameters including those determined from 
the seasonal snow in the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges and the precipitation. The use of existing models of 
riverbank migration without adequate calibration can lead to large systematic errors in the prediction of 
bank erosion rates. This is due to the fact that there is a significant lack of knowledge in quantifying the 
riverbank erosion and relating it to the hydro-meteorological phenomenon in the Pamir Hindu Kush 
ranges. 
 A study is proposed to determine the impact of snowmelt runoff on the historical shifts of Amu 
River riverbank erosion by relating the average rate of river width with river discharge and for 
understanding the inter-relationship between the snow hydrological parameters and identifying the 
significant parameters that affect the total river discharge. We used multiple parameters from 
hydrometeorological data with observed river discharge from the available ground stations. The 
hydro-meteorological data was retrieved for the entire catchment from ERA5 reanalysis data which 
is freely available. To validate the results we used the daily observed river discharge from the eight 
gauge stations. Observed river discharge typically can only present a small amount of water that 
flows only from the Afghanistan side. While the upper Amu River basins also cover a part of 
Tajikistan, where the required data is not available for this study. As an alternative, we demonstrate a 
methodology for deriving riverbank erosion rates from precipitation and different hydrological

parameters with historical river plans from remote sensing data, which can present precise river 
shifting information. The results demonstrated a better correlation between the predicted river 
discharge and the river width. This research illustrates a general framework that can be adapted for 
the development of an improved empirical model for riverbank erosion. 
 
Chapter 6: Conclusion 
 Riverbank erosion is an issue of major importance to channel shifting in the Amu river basin of 
Afghanistan. Afghanistan has been constantly losing precious land over the years due to the Amu 
riverbank erosion. It is known that the flooding events caused by abrupt flows in the Amu River 
which results in riverbank erosion are governed by hydrological parameters including those 
determined from the seasonal snow in the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges and the precipitation. The use of 
existing models of riverbank migration without adequate calibration can lead to large systematic 
errors in the prediction of bank erosion rates. This is due to the fact that there is a significant lack of 
knowledge in quantifying the riverbank erosion and relating it to the hydro-meteorological 
phenomenon in the Pamir Hindu Kush ranges. 
In this study, an effort is made to present some progress towards the assessment of the 
hydro-meteorological particularly snow parameters that have a significant impact on the river 
migration. Remote sensing provides us the means to investigate the spatial variability of these 
parameters for the entire watershed. It is therefore beneficial to utilize remote sensing data, 
especially freely available data for the investigations of the highly influential hydro-meteorological 
parameters. The potential of ERA5 Reanalysis data was further investigated to quantify the riverbank 
erosion in northern Afghanistan. It was observed that the modeled river discharge using ERA5 
reanalysis data could predict significantly the Amu river width. However, it is also worth mentioning 
that the ERA5 reanalysis data is available at 9 km spatial resolution, implying that information at 
higher resolution may well result in a significant improvement in the modeling process. The 
utilization of the developed SWE and the SCA products at 15 m as mentioned earlier may play a 
critical role in the development of new empirical models for estimating the riverbank erosion rates. 
Further incorporation of these products for the downscaling of the ERA5 Reanalysis hydrological 
parameters is proposed in future works.

アフガニスタンにおいて河岸侵食をもたらすアム川の洪水イベントは，パミール・ヒンド

ゥークシュ山脈の季節的な雪と降水量から決定される水文学的パラメータによって支配さ
れる。しかし，河岸侵食の現状を定量化し，それを水文気象学的現象に関連付ける知見が不
足しているのが現状である。本研究では，流量や河川の移動に最も大きな影響を与える水文
気象学的要素，特に積雪に関するパラメータの評価に向けて，リモートセンシング技術を用
い，冬季における雪の水文学的パラメータとしての積雪深，積雪相当水量（SWE），積雪被
覆面積（SCA）を推定する手法を提案した。また，上記パラメータと ECMWF（欧州中期予
報センター）の再解析値 ERA5 を用い河川流量を予測し，この値とアム川の川幅変動との関
係性を示すことができた。本研究により開発された 15 m 分解能での予測モデルは，他地域
への適用が可能であり，データが不足する高山地域の積雪・水文プロセスの解明に重要な役
割を果たす可能性が示された。 
複数時期デュアル偏光合成開口レーダー（SAR）衛星データの差分干渉手法をベースとし，
雪の誘電率と雪密度の情報を組み込んだ改良積雪深推定手法を提案したことは，非常に新規
性に富む研究内容である。また、積雪情報を広域・定量的に衛星画像から推定でき，流量予
測や河岸侵食の対策に資する情報として提供できることを示した点において高く評価でき
ることから，審査員一同は博士（学術）の学位を授与する価値があると判断した。

カニズムに関する研究が不十分であるため，それらの問題や要求に対応できる精米機開発が
困難な現状である。そこで，精白室内の米粒運動状態をコンピュータシミュレーションでき
る精米モデルを開発し，精米速度と砕米率に関するメカニズムを解析した。前面カバーを透
明アクリルに変更した試験用精米機に，平成 30 年度広島県産「千本錦」特等米玄米 150 g
を供給し，研削ロールは表面粒度#46，ロール回転数 1000 rpm で目標精白率 90，80，70 %
毎に実験した。精白室内の米粒流動状態を高速度カメラで撮影した。精米モデルの開発には
離散要素法を用いた汎用市販ソフトウェア「Rocky DEM」を用いた。設計時に用いられた
2 次元 CAD データを用いて，試験用精米機を 3 次元でモデル化した。玄米の 3 次元スキャ
ナーデータから玄米と精白率 90，80，70 %における精白米をモデル化した。米粒と精白室
内各部の力学物性値のなかで，米粒と研削ロールの摩擦係数μr は粒子流動状態に支配的パ
ラメータであるが測定は困難である。そこで，粒子モデル 5700個を精米機モデルに供給し，
μrを精白率毎に 4 段階に変化させて粒子流動状態を計算し，実験と計算で得られた流動状
態の画像を解析し，粒子分布の重心座標を求め，精白率毎に実験と計算での重心間距離が短
いμr を設定値として選択した。その結果，玄米と精白率 90，80，70 %の精白米状態での
精白室内の粒子流動状態の特徴を計算で良好に再現でき，妥当な精米モデルが得られたと判
断した。そのモデルを用いた計算によって粒子同士および粒子と精白室内各部の接触におけ
る微視的力学情報が得られたので，精米中の砕米発生速度と研削速度の変化に関するメカニ
ズムを解析した。実験において精米の進行とともに砕米発生速度は増加した。単位時間当た
りの法線方向の衝突エネルギーは，粒子同士において最も割合が高く，そのエネルギーは精
米進行とともに増加した。したがって，精米中の砕米発生速度の変化は，粒子同士の法線方

向の衝突エネルギーで予測できることが示唆された。実験において精米の進行とともに研削
速度は低下した。研削速度は米粒表面の硬度によって変化する。また，玄米表面の糠層は軟
らかいので，粒子と研削ロールだけでなく，粒子同士の衝突によっても研削される。そこで，
単位時間当たりの粒子と研削ロールの接線方向の衝突エネルギーを精米中の粒子の硬度変
化で補正し，さらに精白率 90%までは粒子同士の同様の衝突エネルギーも加えた値は，精
米の進行によって低下した。したがって，精米中の研削速度の変化は，粒子と研削ロールお
よび粒子同士の接線方向の衝突エネルギーを用いて予測できることが示唆された。 
 
 
審 査 報 告 概 要 
 
清酒製造用精米では古くから長い精米時間と高い砕米発生率が問題であり，最近では精白
米形状の制御が要求されている。しかし，精白室内での精米メカニズムに関する研究が不十
分であるため，経験と勘による試行錯誤でのコストと時間をかけた改良で対応するしかない
のが現状である。そこで，離散要素法による市販ソフト「ROCKY DEM」を用いて，CADデー
タから試験用精米機を，3Dスキャナーデータから米粒をポリゴン 100面体非球形粒子にモ
デル化し，玄米から精白率 70 % までに変化する米粒と研削ロールの摩擦係数を逆解析的手
法で決定し，精白室内の米粒運動状態を計算で再現できる精米モデルを開発した。このモデ
ルを用いて，粒子の衝突エネルギーによって，精米中の砕米率と精米速度の変化を予測でき
ることを明らかにした。本研究は実用的な精米モデルの開発を可能にし，精米機開発だけで
なく醸造現場にも貢献する。これらの研究成果等を詳細に検討した結果，審査委員一同は博
士（農業工学）の学位を授与する価値があると判断した。

論 文 内 容 の 要 旨 
 
カマキリ目において成虫の形態については，各部位の研究が進んでおり，種の同定は容易
である。しかし，若虫の形態については，ごく限られた齢期しか調べられていないため，種
の同定はおろか同一種における齢期や雌雄の判別でさえ困難である。また，場合によっては
成虫の正確な種同定には外部生殖器を観察する必要があるが，これまではおもに雄生殖器し
か調べられておらず，雌生殖器の形態形質を用いた種同定の例はほぼ皆無である。これに起
因して，若虫しかいない時期における調査や雌成虫しか得られなかった場合など，一般によ
く知られた昆虫であるにもかかわらず，種同定すらままならない可能性がある。したがって，
若虫や雌成虫でも正確な種同定を可能にするため，若虫および雌生殖器の形態が同定形質と
して有用であるかを検討する必要がある。 
 本研究では，カマキリ目の若虫および雌外部生殖器の形態形質を用いた種同定の方法の確
立を目的とし，日本産 13 種のうち，7 種の若虫および 11 種の雌外部生殖器を形態学的なら
びに分類学的に検討した。また，分類学的な問題があると思われる沖縄県大東諸島のハラビ
ロカマキリについて検討した。その結果，次の新知見を得た。1) カマキリ目の若虫におい
て，種同定，齢期判別，雌雄判別が可能である；2) 雌外部生殖器は，雄外部生殖器と同様
に成虫の種同定に有用である；3) ハラビロカマキリの大東諸島個体群はハラビロカマキリ
の亜種として分類することが妥当である。詳細は以下のとおりである。 
 
若虫の形態および分類学的研究 
 Tenodera 属：マエモンカマキリ，チョウセンカマキリ，オオカマキリが知られる。これ
ら 3 種のうち，チョウセンカマキリとオオカマキリの分布域，およびチョウセンカマキリと
マエモンカマキリの分布域がそれぞれ重なっており，重複する分布域では 2 種が同所的に採
集されることがある。そのため，若虫の種同定方法や齢期判別方法の確立が求められる。こ

れら 3 種について，全齢期における若虫の形態を記載し，齢期判別方法，雌雄判別方法，種
同定方法の確立を試みた。 
 Hierodula 属：ハラビロカマキリとムネアカハラビロカマキリが知られる。ムネアカハラ
ビロカマキリはその分布域を拡大しつつある外来種であり，在来種であるハラビロカマキリ
の個体数を減少させることが報告されている。おもに成虫期と卵期に関しては調査が進んで
いるものの，両種の分布や個体数の調査，および在来種への影響に関する調査などの継続が
求められる。若虫の発生時期における分布調査や在来種への影響調査などを可能にするため
にも，2 種の若虫期における正確な同定方法の確立が必要である。これら 2 種について，全
齢期における若虫の形態を記載し，齢期判別方法，雌雄判別方法，種同定方法の確立を試み
た。 
 Statilia 属：コカマキリ，スジイリコカマキリ，ヤサガタコカマキリが知られ，前 2 種を
扱った。コカマキリはトカラ列島中之島以北に，スジイリコカマキリは沖永良部島以南に分
布するため，現時点では分布域は重なっていない。しかし，スジイリコカマキリの分布域が
広がりつつあり，将来的に同所的に分布することも充分にあり得るため，若虫の正確な同定
方法を確立しておく必要がある。これら 2 種について，全齢期における若虫の形態を記載し，
齢期判別方法，雌雄判別方法，種同定方法の確立を試みた。 
以上の研究の結果，Tenodera 属と Hierodula 属の各種では，全齢期の若虫において齢期
判別と種同定が可能となった。Statilia 属の 2 種では，全齢期の若虫において齢期判別が，
4 齢以降の若虫において種同定が可能となった。雌雄判別は 3 属全種において 2 齢以降の若
虫において可能となった。 
 
雌外部生殖器の形態および分類学的研究 
 雌成虫における外部生殖器の同定形質としての有用性を評価するため，11 種の雌外部生
殖器を観察した。Tenodera 属 3 種，Hierodula 属 2 種，Statilia 属 2 種，Acromantis 属 2
種について形態を記載し，同属の近縁種間で比較した。その結果，Tenodera 属，Hierodula
属，Statilia 属では安定した形態差が認められた。Acromantis 属では差異が認められず，
本属の種では同定形質としての有用性はないように考えられた。しかしながら，多くの種に
おいて雌外部生殖器は，雄外部生殖器と同様に，種同定に有用な形質であることが明らかに
なった。国内に近縁種がいない Mantis 属と Amantis 属の各種については，形態的特徴の
記載を詳細に行なった。  
 
大東諸島産ハラビロカマキリの分類学的研究 
 ハラビロカマキリの大東諸島個体群は，他地域の個体群とは本種の特徴である前脚背縁突
起の形状に顕著かつ安定した差異が認められたことに加え，最大体長や触角の節数にも明確

な差異が認められた。一方で，雌雄ともに外部生殖器には，はっきりとした差異は認められ
なかった。以上のことから，大東諸島の個体群はハラビロカマキリの亜種として分類するこ
とが妥当であるとの結論に至り，未記載亜種として記載した。 
 
 
審 査 報 告 概 要 
 
カマキリ類は農地でも害虫の天敵として機能するなど，一般によく知られた昆虫にもかか
わらず，若虫では種の同定はおろか同一種における齢期や雌雄の判別でさえ困難であり，雌
の成虫では生殖器の形態が未解明のため分類や同定に混乱が生じている。そこで，カマキリ
目の若虫および雌外部生殖器の形態形質を用いた種同定の方法の確立を目的とし，形態学的
ならびに分類学的に検討した。また，分類学的に問題があると思われる沖縄県大東諸島のハ
ラビロカマキリについて検討した。その結果，若虫において種同定・齢期判別・雌雄判別が
可能であること，雌外部生殖器は成虫の種同定に有用であること，ハラビロカマキリの大東
諸島個体群はハラビロカマキリの亜種として分類することが妥当であることが明らかにな
った。 
これらの研究成果は，昆虫形態学ならびに分類学，応用昆虫学の発展に寄与する業績と認
め，審査委員一同は博士（農学）の学位を授与する価値があると判断した。
