This study examines the awareness and usage of mental health resources offered on Bridgewater College’s campus. As students continue to experience mental health issues, it is important that there are adequate resources offered on university campuses. Additionally, this study examines student awareness and usage of mental health resources offered on Bridgewater College’s campus in response to the active shooting event that occurred on February 1st, 2022. Survey research was conducted with undergraduate and graduate students at Bridgewater College. A total of 16 full responses were received. Implications of this study include the continued offering of a variety of mental health resources on Bridgewater’s campus, as well as targeted education to promote student utilization of services overall

A Survey of the Cantharellus Species in Western Virginia

Chanterelle mushrooms, while botanically a part of the genus Cantharellus, is a generic descriptor used to describe many different species of wild chanterelle mushrooms. They are among the most popular wild edible mushrooms worldwide, with Cantharellus cibarius being the most well-known. Efforts to understand chanterelle diversity, however, have been somewhat limited by the standardly used internal transcribed spacer (ITS) fungal DNA barcode; Although considered the universal barcode of Fungi, ITS is discouraged for Cantharellus identification due to high levels of diversity and length variation, particularly in the ITS1 region (Swenie & Matheny, 2023). Alternate genes, including RPB2 and tef1-α were thus compared with ITS as an alternative marker for the analysis of Cantharellus species. Resulting sequences were then used to identify fungal specimens collected from different regions in Western Virginia and one in South Carolina

In this 2023 study, collegiate athletes at Bridgewater College were examined for their athlete satisfaction. Due to minimal research in collegiate athletes and athlete satisfaction, this research focused on if religiousness was a predictor of athlete satisfaction. 72 athletes participated in the survey. Using the Athlete Satisfaction Questionnaire (Reimer & Chelladurai, 1998), there were eleven facets of interest to examine if religiousness predicted satisfaction. Results showed that Non-Organizational Religious Activity is a significant predictor for Team Integration and Ethics over and above gender and perceived vulnerability to stress. These findings are important to Sports Psychology and coaches because it will help to further understand what contributes to the satisfaction of collegiate athletes
