MERCY (RAHMAH) AS THE PRELUDE TO ISLAM
Mercy is central to the very identity of Islam, yet this is not often recognized by theologians and scholars. This paper will demonstrate that the idea of mercy is important as a prelude to the understanding of Islam and an interpretation of its teachings. This important role of mercy is evident in Islam's primary sources – the Quran and the Sunnah – and is not contingent on political, social, or historical contexts. It is well recognized that the proper comprehension of Islam hinges on grasping the attributes of God, his divine message, and the character of his messenger. But what is often overlooked is that these aspects are fundamentally rooted in mercy. Islam encourages its followers to cultivate merciful virtues. It emphasizes that the compassionate nature of the faith should always precede the understanding and interpretation of its teachings. As a result, Muslims are encouraged to nurture a compassionate self, foster a benevolent mindset and approach, and anchor their religious obedience in the spirit of mercy. While followers of Islam are responsible for upholding this ethos, external observers too should try to view the religion fairly based upon this recognition of the centrality of mercy

Multi-Level Study on the Motivation Factors of Social Responsibility: Case Study of Individuals and Private Organizations During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Social responsibility, referring to supporting others in society, became a crucial topic during the COVID-19 pandemic, significantly impacting people’s mental and physical lives. Socially responsible activities can be conducted on two main levels-individual and organizational. An individual who participates in socially responsible activities acts as a volunteer while an organization performs social responsibility through related activities, contributing to society without any return. Limited research exists on the motivation of volunteers, especially involving multi-level studies. Therefore, this study intends to fill the gap by employing a qualitative approach to gain an in-depth understanding of the volunteers’ motivations by conducting interviews with 27 participants at the individual level and representatives from 14 companies at the organizational level. The results reveal six motivating factors at the individual level and four at the organizational level, under some common themes. Both individuals and organizations can support each other to design appropriate socially responsible activities and create an iterative positive cycle, positively contributing to society.
Self-regulation through Goal-Problem-Oriented Teaching Mode in EFL Writing Classrooms
This study investigates the impact of implementing the Goal-Problem-Oriented teaching mode, combined with Pintrich's self-regulation framework, on students' English writing proficiency and their perceptions of self-regulated learning (SRL) writing strategies. A mixed-method research design involving quantitative and qualitative data collection methods was employed. The study was conducted in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom setting, adding validity to the findings. The results demonstrate a positive influence of the intervention, with students improving their writing proficiency and exhibiting increased awareness of SRL writing strategies. However, it is vital to acknowledge the limitations of this study, including the small sample size and the use of convenience sampling. Overall, it is hoped that the study will make valuable contributions to the growing body of research on integrating SRL and writing instruction in EFL settings, emphasizing the significance of authentic contexts and practical applications in enhancing students' writing abilities and fostering self-regulated learning skills
