Antecedents of E-Learning Readiness and Student Satisfaction in Institutions of Higher Education during the COVID-19 Pandemic
The low levels of readiness for e-learning, followed by the low satisfaction levels experienced by university students during the COVID-19 pandemic, is a crucial yet confounding issue. Many reports relate the lack of technological competence and motivation to this problem. This study examined aspects of technological competence and motivation as antecedent factors that affect student user and e-learning readiness. In addition, the study also tested the determination of the role of e-learning readiness as a mediator of the indirect influence of technological competence and motivation on student satisfaction. The study involved 1228 university students from the province of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data collection was assisted by using a closed questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale tested for validity and reliability. Structural Equation Modeling was used to analyze the data through path analysis and bootstrap methods. This study showed that technological competence and motivation significantly affected e-learning readiness and user satisfaction. Furthermore, e-learning readiness was seen to act as a significant mediator in the indirect effect of technological competence and motivation on student satisfaction. Therefore, these results strengthen the theory that shaping student satisfaction in e-learning requires mature e-learning readiness. In forming this readiness, technological competence and balanced motivation are needed

The study, consisting of an experimental group and a control group was conducted for pre-test and post-test comparisons of the academic performance of 88 10th grade students. 44 students were selected as the experimental group that underwent a specific teaching strategy to monitor their development of qualities and competencies in one semester, and the remaining 44 students acted as the control group. The data collected after the tests were analyzed using SPSS software (V20). The results showed that the students in the experimental group had better academic results than those in the control group. The findings of this study have implications for policy, further research as well as approaches for the assessment of students’ development of qualities and competencies in Vietnam
Role of Oxidative Stress as a Novel Therapeutic Target in Myocardial Injury Due to Ischemia/Reperfusion in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
The most effective therapeutic intervention for reducing infarct size and improving outcomes in patients with acute myocardial infarction is the thrombolytic therapy or percutaneous coronary angioplasty. However, this process itself can generate ischemia-reperfusion injury that can be responsible for up to 50% of the final infarct size. Considering oxidative stress as the main damaging agent in this pathology, it has been postulated that reinforcing antioxidant defenses could improve cardiac function. However, up to date clinical trials based on monotherapies have been consistent in the favorable results. In this review the pathophysiological mechanisms of myocardial injury due to ischemia/reperfusion in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary angioplasty are updated. In addition, new therapeutic alternatives for cardioprotection in this population, are explored, with emphasis in the combined therapy as a novel antioxidant treatment for this myocardial injury
Economic Efficiency of Processed Hibiscus Sabdanriffa (Roselle) Drink in Imo State, Nigeria
The study developed a model to evaluate efficiencies of Zobo drink processors in Imo State using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Data were collected from 163 Zobo drink processors across 36 markets in the study area and was analyzed under the constant returns to scale (CRTS) and variable returns to scale (VRTS) assumptions. Result showed that Zobo processing was highly profitable with about 44.34% net margin on total revenue generated. Mean economic efficiency scores estimated from the DEA frontier for both CRTS and VRTS were 0.537 and 0.683. Sex, educational level and alternative to income were most statistically significant factors. It was recommended that more male involvements are encouraged in Zobo drink; educated individuals particularly unemployed are advised to engage and create a cliché for themselves through the use of more innovative processing and packaging activities and adopting cost-minimizing input mixes of best-practice to enable them become fully efficient
Evaluation of Manufacturing Sector Performances and its Employment Creation in Nigeria
This study evaluates the performances of manufacturing sector and its effects on employment creation in Nigeria. Historical data relating to performance of some selected sectors of the manufacturing sector of the economy and employment were gathered. Secondary sources (Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian Economic Submit Group (NESG) and Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN)) were explored for data used in this study. Data were analysed using descriptive approach .This study documented that performances of the sector has not been encouraging given its overall percentage contributions to growth of Nigeria economy. Poor performances of manufacturing sector have far-reaching negative effect on the employment generation and standard of living of the people. Therefore, to improve this sector, this study recommends the strengthening of the infrastructures especially energy, transportation, security system, reduction of interest rate and avoidance of imposition of multiple taxes as the major impediments to manufacturing performances in Nigeria
Investigating the Validity of the IELTS Listening Test
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) has gained popularity in recent years and it is now accepted by many educational institutions worldwide. While IELTS offers a distinct academic version of the reading and writing test components, it uses the same listening module for the General Training and the Academic exam. The present article explores to what extent the listening subtest in the Academic IELTS test is a useful measure of test-takers listening ability and a predictor of their academic success. This study focusses on the test’s construct validity. A critical review of the major strengths and potential drawbacks of the listening test is followed by a comparison of the test scores with another traditionally accepted test of academic English. Conclusions about the validity of the IELTS listening test are drawn along with some suggestions for design improvement. Future research directions are also proposed
Parents with Different Mother-Tongue and its Effect on their Children’s Language Identity
This research aims to examine the effects of parents with different mother-tongue on their children’s language identity since the native language is very important in every individual because a child’s first language is part of the social, personal, and cultural identity. The participants were 10 pairs of parents with different native languages. The participants are chosen based on a criterion that male participants must have the same native languages and female participants must have different native languages. Every male participant in this study has the same Tagalog language, while the female participants have different languages, namely Bisaya and Bicolano. The researcher used qualitative and quantitative research methods consisting of questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that if parents want to teach their children to learn both native languages, the one-parent-one language approach is the best practice because it is easier to implement and use. The research shows that parent often finds ways to motivate his/her children to use the native language he/she had; it also reveals that somehow, parents are still providing and using some ways or techniques and exerting efforts to these techniques to promote their native language to their children. This study would exemplify the possible factors affecting having a parent with different native languages to the language identity of their children
Tax Aggressiveness and Audit Report Timeliness: The Role of Ownership Structure and Audit Committee
Companies that engage in tax aggressiveness (TAG) are considered socially irresponsible and problematic from the perspective of tax authorities. This study examines the impact of TAG on audit report timeliness and the role of corporate governance using ownership structure and audit committee on the relationship between TAG and audit report timeliness. We use the tax planning prediction model to uncover TAG. The data for our sample is obtained from the manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and was obtained using the purposive sampling method. Using multiple linear regression analysis, we discover a positive relationship between TAG and audit report timeliness. However, we also find that corporate governance mechanisms affect this positive relationship through ownership structure and audit committee competence. Our findings suggest that the delay of independent auditors due to audit processes may expose the activities of TAG’s clients, which may have economic consequences for tax authorities, companies, and other stakeholders
Impact of E-Learning on INTTIC Students during the COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic forced much of the world into lockdown. For that reason, INTTIC switched from blended learning to total e-learning. In this paper, we explore the impact of e-learning on INTTIC students during the COVID-19 lockdown. To this end, we focus on four main variables: the effectiveness, the cost, the flexibility, and the independent work involved in e-learning. Our results show that e-learning cannot be entirely effective without the teacher’s online interaction. It is budget-friendly because students can save on transportation, food and daily school expenses, and it offers students a large degree of flexibility. Nevertheless, almost all students struggle to complete their homework on a deadline. The main causes could include the psychological aspects of lockdown, the lack of prior experience with total e-learning, and a need for teachers' supervision. Future research should study the impact of e-learning on teachers during the COVID-19 lockdown
Exploring the Influencing Factors and Validity of Formative Assessment in Online Learning
Online learning is increasingly popular as the pandemic spreads around the globe. This shift in learning preferences presents opportunities and difficulties for the assessment of learning. As a method of assessment used throughout the learning process, formative assessment can encourage students' interest in learning, enhance learning outcomes, support teachers' strategic planning and maximize teaching results. However, the effectiveness of online formative assessment has been questioned. This study uses a qualitative research methodology based on Grounded Theory to analyze the validity of formative assessment in online learning by examining the factors unique to online learning that affect it. After reviewing previous studies and interviewing 45 online learners, this paper three-level-coded the sources and analyzed them. Findings show that the validity is influenced by the lack of functional alienation caused by the effects of the subject's emotional game and adaptability, objective environment and technology and poor interaction. To help implement formative assessment in real classroom practices, two models were established based on the findings, namely the Formative Assessment Model (FAM) and Online Formative Assessment Validity Model (OFAV). This study asks about the influence factors and explores how much the validity of formative assessment shows in online practice, and provides new feasible ideas and suggestions for the future development of the field of educational assessment
