    How Belief System as The Best Driver of Control in Increasing Performance

    Based on the essence of contingency theory and resource-based view, this research focuses on examining the influence of the management control system (MCS) on the performance of Indonesian public health sector organizations from both financial and non-financial perspectives such as sustainability practices mediated by organizational learning. The research technique used in this study included distributing questionnaires to 172 respondents from health service facilities in 22 provinces in Indonesia. The outcome of this study showed that there was a significant positive impact of MCS elements and organizational learning to organizational performance except for the diagnostic control system. Organizational learning mediates belief system on organizational performance. The conclusion of this study is expected to benefit the health practitioners and regulators aimed at promoting effectiveness of MCS practices on the performance of public sector organizations, especially belief systems as the best driver of control in increasing performance. The originality of this research is a study that investigates the complete elements of the MCS on the performance of public health sector organizations from both financial and non-financial perspectives such as sustainability practices, in addition to using organizational learning capabilities as mediation

    The Nexus of ESG Score and Stock Return: Evidence from The LQ45 Index

    The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects and the return on stock performance in Indonesia. An exhaustive examination of the data from the Indonesian stock market LQ45 Index is undertaken to determine the firms that give priority to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies. The study utilizes a quantitative methodology, employing cross-sectional dependency test with the sample of 45 blue chip firms. Breusch- Godfrey Serial Correlation LM Test and Heteroscedasticity Test were used in the research. This study enhances the current body of literature by offering empirical proof about the influence of ESG score on stock returns, particularly within the framework of the LQ45 index. The results will underscore the importance of ESG considerations for investors and stress the possible financial advantages of integrating ESG elements into investing strategies. This study contributes to the expanding pool of information on sustainable investment and its ramifications for financial markets

    Agro-morphological analysis of yield and yield attributing traits of wheat under heat stress condition

    Wheat is the most important cereal crop worldwide and ranks third in Nepal. Improvements in wheat yield can be done effectively by selection for yield attributing traits. In this experiment, twenty wheat genotypes were evaluated in the terai region of Nepal at Paklihawa, Rupandehi in Alpha lattice design under heat stress conditions. The characters were evaluated to find their correlation and direct and indirect effects on yield. Positive significant correlation of grain yield with No. of spikes m-2 (0.405) and harvest index (0.647) were found whereas Spike weight (-0.322) showed a significant negative correlation with grain yield. Similarly, Path analysis showed that the Harvest index (0.5511) and No. of spikelets per spike (0.3365) had a high direct effect, whereas Thousand kernel weight, Spike m-2, and Plant height showed a lower positive direct effect on grain yield. Ten spikes weight, spike length, and No. of grains per spike showed low negative direct effects. The conclusions drawn from this analysis can be useful for breeding programs under heat stress by providing information on which characteristics significantly affect the yield. However, multi-locations and multi-year trials need to be done for further verifications on the selection of such traits for improving yield

    Encapsulation of vegetable oils in polylactic acid nanofibers to improve oil retencion in feed aquaculture

    The feed used in fish farming contains lipids that erode and disperse in water, adversely affecting fish nutrition and contributing to water pollution. This study evaluated the encapsulation of corn and gold linseed oils in polylactic acid (PLA) nanofibers produced via Solution Blow Spinning. The nanofibers were characterized using Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), contact angle analysis, and encapsulation efficiency tests. Additionally, the release profiles of the oils were studied under simulated tank water and gastrointestinal conditions. The results demonstrated successful encapsulation of the oils within the PLA matrix. FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of oil in the nanofibers (wavenumbers 2925 and 2853 cm-1), with encapsulation efficiencies ranging from 81.54±10.36% to 99.14±4.55%. SEM revealed uniform nanofiber morphology with smooth surfaces and average diameters between 157±49 and 385±133 nm. All nanofibers exhibited contact angles above 90°, indicating hydrophobic behavior. Feed samples containing free oils showed significantly higher lipid release into water compared to feed incorporating encapsulated oils. The findings suggest that encapsulating vegetable oils in PLA nanofibers reduces lipid dispersion in water while maintaining nutrient availability. This polymeric system offers a sustainable alternative to enhance aquaculture feed efficiency and reduce environmental impacts, contributing to cleaner water and healthier fish

    Investigation of pre-service TESOL teachers’ perceptions towards multimedia– based textbook development and usage

    The purpose of the study is to present the results of investigating pre-service teachers’ perceptions of their readiness to develop and use multimedia-based English language training textbooks.  The dimensional structure of the designed readiness is regarded as a complex personal integrative quality. A corresponding   survey questionnaire is compiled to determine its content. The study included 81 senior students from the foreign language faculty at Karaganda Buketov University. The research's methodology included statistical analysis of quantitative data, experimental training and participant self-assessment questionnaires. Preliminary tests were conducted in both the experimental and control groups aimed at identifying participants’ perceptions of their initial level of readiness for the development and use of multimedia-based textbooks. Participants in the experimental group participated in an experimental course on technology development and   the use of multimedia-based textbooks with the presentation of their final project. When the teaching period was over, the post-test was taken. The results demonstrated the efficiency of the complex assessment of readiness in the mentioned area enabling the definition and correction of gaps in its structural content. The designed course proved its effectiveness in practice as asserted by the post-test scores

    Perceptions of English foreign language university students towards the online freshman composition course

    The purpose of this research is to explore the perceptions of English Foreign Language University students towards online freshman composition courses at the university. The study aims to explore students' perspectives on the course and evaluate the reliability, convergent validity and discriminant validity of the construct among Omani EFL university students. Data were collected from 276 Omani EFL university students who were enrolled in freshman composition courses using a quantitative survey methodology.  Participants rated their experiences using a five-point scale. The study used both exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) conducted with Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) 26 to achieve its research objectives. The results of this research provide substantial support for the validity and reliability of the multidimensional construct representing students' perceptions. Additionally, the results of the study demonstrate that the measurement is consistent across various academic levels indicating programme invariance. A five-factor model that accurately represents students' opinions on online freshman composition courses has been developed in this study. The outcomes contribute to the theoretical understanding of evaluating students' perceptions of the course and hold practical implications for enhancing the teaching and design of similar courses

    Workload doesn’t mean exhaustion: Antecedents of teacher burnout

    Workload has consistently been found to be a predictor of burnout in teachers.  However, while academia considers workload a psychological concept, the public tends to simplify workload as the number of tasks assigned. This study seeks to provide further evidence of the psychological nature of workload by examining if workload understood in terms of quantity of work had any effect on teacher burnout and whether this relationship was moderated by psychological processes such as self-efficacy and mediated by stress. 117 primary and high school teachers holding at least two roles at school participated in the study. Teacher burnout was measured using MBI-ES, self-efficacy was measured by OSTES and stress and workload were measured by single-item questions. Results showed that workload (i.e., the number of roles assigned) did not have a main effect on burnout. Perceived stress and self-efficacy had direct effects on teacher burnout: stress increased burnout while self-efficacy reduced burnout. Self-efficacy had a significant moderation effect on workload-burnout interaction. Workload increased burnout only in teachers with low self-efficacy  while stress did not moderate the workload-burnout relationship. These findings support the psychological nature of the relationship between workload and burnout among teachers. They also point out the importance of enhancing teacher stress management and self-efficacy in protecting them from burnout

    Overcoming cultural and language barriers: Explore the experiences of Lao students at universities of education in Vietnam

    This study investigates the cultural and language barriers faced by Lao students at Vietnamese universities of education and proposes solutions for enhancing their academic and social integration. We analyzed the experiences of 624 Lao students across eight major universities in Vietnam through online surveys and in-depth interviews employing a mixed-methods approach. This study revealed that Lao students face significant language and cultural challenges that manifest in difficulties with Vietnamese language proficiency and adaptation to the academic culture in Vietnam. Despite these challenges, support from the Vietnamese student and teacher communities plays a crucial role in their adaptation process. The research underscores the need for enhanced teaching methodologies and the development of robust support systems for international students highlighting the pivotal role of language and cultural support in improving the educational experiences of Lao students. Addressing the language and cultural barriers faced by Lao students is essential for fostering their successful integration and participation in the Vietnamese educational system. Enhanced language support and culturally sensitive pedagogical strategies are recommended to enhance the academic success and social integration of these students, thereby contributing to a more inclusive educational environment

    Reliability and separation index analysis of mathematics questions integrated with the cultural architecture framework using the Rasch model

    This research uses Rasch model analysis to identify the reliability and separation index of an integrated mathematics test instrument with a cultural architecture structure in measuring students' mathematical thinking abilities. The study involved 357 students from six eighth-grade public junior high schools in Bima. The selection of schools was based on average school exam scores and considered the effectiveness of the learning process that used cultural settings to explore mathematical content. Data analysis was conducted using Microsoft Excel to calculate the content validity of Aiken's index with four experts and the jMetrik software to measure reliability and the separation index. The research results indicate that the mathematics test instrument passed validation by mathematics experts and measurements with a valid content validity level. Rasch model calibration shows a very high level of instrument reliability. Separation analysis on the logit scale indicates the instrument's ability to differentiate students with different ability levels with good homogeneity in the distribution of test items and individual abilities. Scale quality statistics show good item response variability, low error rates and a high separation index. This study has limitations because it focuses solely on multiple-choice questions. Similar research must be conducted using other types of questions (such as those used in PISA, namely open- constructed and closed-constructed questions) and integrating other mathematical materials within relevant cultural architectural structures

    Psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the questionnaire assessing reasons for school non-attendance

    The study aimed to translate, culturally adapt and validate the Spanish version of the Assessing Reasons for School Non-attendance (ARSNA) originally developed by Havik, Bru and Ertesvåg in 2015 to assess the reasons for school absence in adolescents. We used the back-translation method to translate and adapt the instrument without substantially altering it. A total of 1168 Spanish adolescents (M = 15.03, SD = 2.40) enrolled in 6 secondary education institutes participated in the study. The confirmatory factor analysis establishes a four-dimensional model (FI: Somatic symptoms; FII: Subjective health complaints; FIII: Unjustified absences; FIV: School refusal) with 16 items and invariant depending on gender. The results obtained provide the Spanish version of the ARSNA with good understandability, internal consistency, and reliability for measuring the causes of lack of school attendance. This research makes a new instrument available to the Spanish population that evaluates reasons for school absenteeism
