The time-varying impact of US monetary policy spillovers on small open economies: Evidence from Indonesia

    Get PDF
This study examines the impact of the US monetary policy spillover on Indonesia’s macroeconomic and financial variables using quarterly data for the period 2000–2020 for both domestic and US variables.  The study uses a Bayesian form of a time-varying parameter (TVP) vector autoregressive (VAR) model with stochastic volatility to look at how real GDP, inflation, the exchange rate, the stock market return, and the monetary policy rate react to a shock in US monetary policy. We find that US monetary policy spillovers, on average, boost Indonesia’s real GDP, stock market returns, and bilateral exchange rate vis a vis the US Dollar but also trigger domestic inflation beyond what Indonesia’s policy reaction could counteract.  However, there are significant differences between the variables' responses to easing and tightening shocks, on the one hand, and conventional vs. unconventional monetary policy, on the other. Finally, we found substantial time variation corresponding to major global events, including the Global Financial Crisis and implementation of unconventional monetary policy, the taper tantrum of 2013–2014, and the severe lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019–2020. These findings underscore the importance for policymakers in Indonesia to closely monitor and anticipate the impact of US monetary policy spillovers on domestic macroeconomic variables. This knowledge can inform more effective policy responses and risk management strategies to safeguard economic stability and promote sustainable growth

Does quality-adjusted human capital matter for economic growth of Malaysia: Time series analysis

    Get PDF
Human capital plays a crucial role in driving productivity development and enhancing the standard of living. Human capital refers to the collective knowledge and skills possessed by individuals, which significantly contribute to enhancing productivity and are closely linked to economic growth and development. The significance of human capital in driving innovation and productivity in the case of Malaysia cannot be overlooked. The primary objective of this study is to conduct an empirical analysis of the impact of human capital on the economic growth (EG) of Malaysia over the period from 1990 to 2022. This study utilized quality-adjusted human capital to accurately reflect the underlying significance of human capital. Hence, this study contributes to the existing body of literature by using quality-adjusted human capital in the case of Malaysia. To check the cointegration among variables, this study uses the Fisher Type Bayer-Hanck cointegration test and Johansen cointegration techniques. Using the ARDL approach, we find a positive impact of human capital on economic growth. This implies that labor with developed human capital is more productive and hence contributes more to economic growth. To optimize the positive impact of human capital on economic growth in Malaysia, it is imperative to establish a comprehensive array of policy recommendations that encompass both the quantity and quality of human capital development

    Get PDF
This study aimed to: (1) investigate current conditions and practices in developing dance classrooms using the learning community model for elementary dance teachers; (2) create a dance classroom using the learning community model with elementary dance teachers; and (3) assess the effectiveness of this development approach. The study includes 20 experts studying existing circumstances and making recommendations using questionnaires and interviews. There were 150 elementary school kids and six volunteer instructors among the participants. The research techniques comprised a dance classroom setting, a competency evaluation form for dance teachers, an assessment of students' innovation ability, and an opinion questionnaire. The data was analyzed using frequency, percentage, standard deviation, and t-tests. It found that creating a dance classroom required four steps: (1) surveying, (2) planning, (3) managing, and (4) applying. The main results were: (1) dance teachers' abilities significantly improved at .05; (2) students' average abilities increased during the study, with the experimental group performing significantly better than the control group; and (3) the experimental group demonstrated a significantly higher ability to create dance innovations than the control group at the.05 level. The results revealed that employing a learning community model in dance classrooms effectively improved students into innovation creators

    Get PDF
The present pandemic has presented seriously affected not only the daily life but also teaching and learning and it has been seen a long battle for educators including TESOL teachers in Thailand. Working in the field of TESOL, the author experiences the new changing environment where an actual classroom turns into a virtual classroom. All documents and teaching tools prepared (before the pandemic) have been changed into online documents. Undeniably, online teaching can be seen as demanding as teaching staff moving from a space in which they have years of experience to the unknown world of online, remote, and socially distanced teaching. This study aims to identify Thai TESOL staff’s perception towards teaching and learning management affected by COVID-19. It The study revealed that the effectiveness of teaching in the changing context depends on the teachers’ readiness to a new learning technology like online meeting, at the same time, they must be open-minded and concerned that they must adjust their role to fit properly in the context. Even though participants found the significant change in the use of teaching technology in an online environment, interestingly their teaching and learning management remained as it used to be in the normal (onsite) classroom. In addition, the study provides implications for those who would like to create positive learning environment in online situation

    Get PDF
This scientometric analysis and systematic review methodologies examine the integration of gamification into steam education from 2017 to 2023. We collected data from the Scopus database. The study employed content analysis to evaluate 34 articles published during the past 7 years. The aggregate magnitude and trajectory of publications. The study examined trends in terms of annual accounts, number of articles, distribution of articles by sources, most productive sources, keywords, top collaboration groups, theme evolutions, contributions, practical consequences, and conceptual framework. The findings revealed the publication of 34 papers across 30 sources between 2017 and 2023, offering significant insights into the data and document formats. The research on steam with gamification revealed fluctuations, alternating between deceleration and positive acceleration. The articles experienced their highest growth rate in 2022. "CEUR workshop proceedings" is the primary source for the most frequently published articles. We request the keyword Plus growth rate for phrases such as "computer-aided instruction," "e-learning," and "embedded systems." The analysis’s findings on thematic evolution unveiled three significant advancements: (1) Studies in science and technology have shifted their focus towards steam education. (2) Research on learning environments has expanded to include further investigation into stem education and the integration of science and technology. (3) School students’ research has evolved and merged with the study of the learning process. The outcomes, contributions, and real-world significance of incorporating gamification into steam education. The conceptual framework ultimately fosters the development of creativity, problem-solving skills, and innovative abilities

Business Strategies for Carbon Fiber-reinforced Polymer Recycling in the Aviation Industry: A Literature Review

    Get PDF
This study investigates business management strategies to enhance the effectiveness and longevity of CFRP-Cs applications in the aviation industry. In the current scenario, the transport industry has increasingly turned to lightweight materials for external structures. The automobile, aviation, and train sectors are particularly keen on utilizing Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (CFRPs) due to their lightweight nature, erosion resistance, and various functional elements beneficial for the transport industry (Bonfanti et al., 2023). However, CFRP composites (CFRP-Cs) pose challenges in the recycling process due to their compounds. The recycling process can only be conducted under extreme conditions, and direct reuse of these CFRP-Cs is difficult to process. A systematic literature review is conducted to examine the use and state of the art of CFRP fibers, the recycling processes adopted, and their associated challenges, benefits, and guidelines. The existing state of the art suggests that the use of CFRP cannot be avoided. However, for environmental sustainability, business strategies should focus on creating a market for CFRP recycling (Deng et al., 2020) and fostering consensus for the progressive use of recycled materials across industries. This involves developing guidelines within a sliding directive to ensure the necessary mechanical performance of CFRP-Cs while promoting environmental responsibility
