Exploring and developing instrument measuring special education teachers’ knowledge in digital game-based learning pedagogy

The teachers’ role has shifted from being solely knowledge transmitters and authority figures to facilitators who guide and support students through structured and pedagogically sound learning approaches. Digital game-based learning (DGBL) is an effective teaching pedagogy for students with learning disabilities, as it simplifies complex information by breaking it down into manageable steps and incorporating game design elements into instruction. This study aims to establish a foundational knowledge base for integrating game-based teaching within the context of special education teachers. It employed a cross-sectional design, utilizing a questionnaire for data collection. The data were analyzed through a pre-test, pilot test, and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). Results show that the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value ranges from 0.814 to 0.950, and Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity is significant (<0.001). For each construct, the total variance explained indicates good eigenvalues (>60%). Two items with factor loading below 0.6 were omitted. Finally, 52 items left were tested with Cronbach's Alpha and show high reliability (>0.8). The findings suggest that the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge – Games (TPACK-G) instrument has strong content validity, face validity, criterion validity, and internal reliability. This study provides a data-driven foundation that bridges teachers’ knowledge with the integration of digital game practices in special education classrooms. The EFA process contributed to the validation of the TPACK-G instrument, enabling accurate measurement of teachers’ knowledge in digital game-based learning pedagogy. Empirical data from this study indicate that special education teachers are prepared to implement instructional strategies involving digital game-based learning within inclusive digital learning environments

This study aimed to develop the Experiential Learning Management Model (ELMM) based on the Reggio Emilia approach and evaluate its impact on creativity and social interpersonal performance in preschool children. A total of 69 children from a kindergarten in northeastern Thailand were divided into an experimental group (n=34) and a control group (n=35). The experimental group participated in a two-month intervention consisting of 32 structured experiential learning activities, while the control group received traditional face-to-face instruction. Creativity and social interpersonal performance were assessed before and after the intervention using two standardized scales. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and one-way multivariate analysis of variance (One-way MANOVA). Results indicated that the experimental group demonstrated significant improvements in creativity (pre-test M=18.88; post-test M=26.02, p<0.05) and social interpersonal performance (pre-test M=11.20; post-test M=13.35, p<0.05). And the experimental group outperformed the control group in both creativity and social interpersonal performance (p<0.05), highlighting the effectiveness of the ELMM intervention. The findings suggest that the ELMM, grounded in the Reggio Emilia approach, is effective in enhancing creativity and social interpersonal performance in preschool children. The structured experiential learning activities provide a supportive and engaging environment for skill development

Economic complexity in Africa: The role of trade and governance institutions

It is evident that the role of trade and governance institutions in enhancing economic complexity in Africa is still under serious debate regarding whether it is detrimental or beneficial to economic growth. The purpose of this study is to investigate how trade and governance institutions influence economic complexity in Africa using a system Generalized Method of Moments (system GMM) and 31 African economies for the period 2011-2020. Beyond these key variables of interest, our study includes some macroeconomic variables in the model, such as international tourism arrivals, infrastructural development, and human capital development, to ensure robustness of the results. The results of the system GMM reveal that trade promotes economic complexity in Africa, while institutional quality indicators such as control of corruption, rule of law, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, political stability, and absence of violence/terrorism, including voice and accountability, are predominantly negative in improving economic complexity on the continent. Further results of system GMM also reveal that infrastructural and human capital developments are relevant drivers of economic complexity, while international tourism arrivals played a detrimental role. This study proposes that African leaders and policymakers across the continent should come together to advance free trade and advocate reform for strong institutions through the instrumentality of the African Union

In an era where natural resources are increasingly limited and global environmental issues such as climate change, water pollution, and biodiversity loss are becoming more severe, environmental governance emphasizes adopting a participatory and transparent approach to the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of environmental policies. The rapid developments associated with globalization have heightened expectations of public institutions, making it essential for these entities to fulfill their environmental responsibilities more effectively. This research aims to assess the current physical condition of secondary school landscape spaces in the city center of Isparta and to develop a sustainable, comprehensive strategic action framework capable of adapting to climate change. Through SWOT and TOPSIS analyses, along with the evaluation of internal and external factors, it was determined that an S-O strategy (Aggressive Strategy) should be implemented in secondary school landscape spaces. The study revealed that school landscape spaces are inadequate in both quality and quantity to effectively adapt to climate change. Additionally, it was found that awareness among students (75.9%) and school staff (96.8%) regarding the impacts of climate change and the adaptation process is high in terms of discourse but remains insufficient in terms of action

Improving the communicative competence of prospective teachers through illusionism: A practical application of magical techniques

This study aims to enhance communicative competencies in future teachers, a frequently neglected area in educational training by integrating illusionism as an innovative pedagogical tool. A quantitative analysis was conducted using a validated questionnaire across three dimensions to assess the communicative competence levels of 81 trainee teachers (mean age x=20.92 years and dt=2.58). Cluster classification and biplot methods (HJ Biplot and MANOVA Biplot) were employed to compare pre- and post-intervention measurements after incorporating card magic training sessions within a motor skills subject. The results identified three distinct clusters demonstrating significant and positive effects on future teachers' training following the illusionism intervention, notably surpassing programs lacking this approach. Enhanced self-confidence and security emerged as directly correlated with improved communicative competencies. The first cluster exhibited particularly developed communicative competencies, especially regarding control and security over the communicative process (non-verbal) linked to the emotional dimension. Illusionism, through adapted magic effects effectively improves students’ communicative skills by fostering self-confidence and emotional management. This research suggests that illusionism creates a motivating and innovative environment for more effective communication, addressing identified deficiencies in teacher communication skills and providing a structured methodology for enhancement

This article examines AI use in early and primary education, identifying ethical and pedagogical challenges for equitable policies. It also highlights research gaps on how technologies such as chatbots worsen educational inequalities, especially across gender and socioeconomic contexts and emphasizes the need for regulations ensuring responsible AI use. This is a non-experimental, cross-sectional, ex post facto quantitative study. The sample consisted of 252 university students with a margin of error of 3.21%. A 45-item questionnaire focused on chatbots was used to assess knowledge, use, and perceptions of AI. McDonald’s omega reliability coefficient was above 0.82 across all four dimensions. Descriptive, correlational, and inferential analyses were conducted using IBM SPSS v26. Results indicate that students perceive chatbots as useful for organising ideas and retrieving information although concerns exist about overreliance. Significant gender and degree programme differences were found (p < 0.05 and d > 0.4) with male primary education students showing greater familiarity with and use of AI. This familiarity positively correlates with improvements in idea organisation suggesting an impact on academic performance. The conclusions call for equitable public policies and adequate teacher training to prevent AI from deepening educational inequalities, especially among women and students from vulnerable backgrounds

Numerous issues with Kazakhstan's higher education system have been revealed by the digital advancement of the country. First, universities still have inadequate levels of digitization despite it being a significant component of the wider digitalization of education. The presence of organizational and legal barriers in the educational environment does not contribute to the digitalization of education. The issue of collaboration between teachers and students emerges in the context of educational digitalization. The study was conducted at Abai University and Almaty University of Humanities and Economics (Almaty, Kazakhstan). The experiment included 163 participants. The study revealed a lack of knowledge of digital literacy and motivation among learners for creating a digital environment and providing feedback. The use of cloud computing, video hosting and the coordination of offline and online activities on the internet were found to provide challenges for maintaining the security and privacy of personal information. This study demonstrates that significant advances in students' digital literacy have occurred following the introduction and testing of the author's academic program with EG participants to develop digital skills. Data from this study can serve as the foundation for creating strategies for digital skills development in universities and as a methodological basis for adapting educational programs for digital skills development
