Good Study Skills Pave the Path for Academic Success
The purpose of this lesson is to help college students transition and succeed in their academics by experiencing more complex testing methods that require them to prepare and study differently from when they were in high school. I chose to teach this lesson because study skills were a topic that the students, were eager to learn more about, as depicted in the interest survey that my instructor and I provided to the class in the beginning of the semester. There are different forms of assessments in college, hence, there is a large variety of study skills that should be used in the appropriate circumstances. From learning in the classroom to studying on their own time, students need descriptive notes to have a successful and informative study session.https://digitalcommons.cortland.edu/cor101posters/1062/thumbnail.jp

Thriving in College: Health, Wellness & Personal Growth
This lesson plan, titled Thriving in College: Health, Wellness & Personal Growth, was designed to equip first-year college students with practical strategies for managing stress, enhancing wellness, and fostering personal growth. Through interactive activities, including a “This or That?” icebreaker and a live Q&A session, students were encouraged to engage actively and reflect on their own wellness habits. The presentation drew on research into effective wellness practices and personal experience to provide students with tools for balancing academic demands and self-care. The outcomes of the lesson demonstrated an increase in student engagement and interest in applying these wellness principles in their own lives, laying a foundation for a healthy and balanced college experiencehttps://digitalcommons.cortland.edu/cor101posters/1086/thumbnail.jp
Mental Health – What It Could Look Like, How to Manage and Practice Self Care
For one of my lessons, I chose to teach about mental health because of the stigma that still surrounds it. Mental health is a common problem among college students and the statistics on it are quite astounding. This could be for many different reasons: for first year students, students must learn how to take care of themselves, manage school work, deal with the struggles of being away from home, and learn how to make new friends. This can be challenging for many because this is their first time going through this experience. As time goes on, some semesters may get challenging in terms of school work, and other factors. I wanted the students to know that if they are overwhelmed or stressed that they\u27re not alone, and there are many different ways to combat these feelings that are positive and healthy. Students can find different ways to de-stress by creating new healthy habits, or by using the resources that are available on campus. Having healthy self-care strategies can help improve their mental health and they will be able to carry the skills with them for the rest of their lives.https://digitalcommons.cortland.edu/cor101posters/1083/thumbnail.jp
SUNY Cortland Campus Resources
I wanted to teach my students about the many campus resources that we have offered to us here at SUNY Cortland. I think it is important for them to be in the know about them both for their physical, sexual, and mental health along with their academic success. I wish that I would have known about all these resources at the start of my freshman year as I think it would have helped me majorly.https://digitalcommons.cortland.edu/cor101posters/1094/thumbnail.jp
Time Management In College Life
This lesson plan focuses on Time Management in College, designed to help first-year students develop essential skills for balancing academic responsibilities, personal life, and extracurricular activities. Through a mix of self-assessments, group discussions, and practical activities like creating personalized schedules and practicing the Pomodoro technique, students learn strategies to manage their time more effectively. The lesson aims to reduce stress, improve academic performance, and promote overall well-being. By the end of the lesson, students will have the tools to prioritize tasks, avoid procrastination, and create a sustainable approach to their college workload.https://digitalcommons.cortland.edu/cor101posters/1103/thumbnail.jp

Evolving as a Writer: My Journey of Maturation (2024-2025)
In this piece Edona Hasanaj writes about her experiences in CPN 100 with three different writing assignments—a narrative, a rhetorical analysis, and an argumentative piece. Throughout Hasanaj draws both on her feelings about the process and direct quotations from her own work. She weaves together a sense of what she wrote in each assignment, as well as how that writing taught her different skills and possibilities for her writing in the future.https://digitalcommons.cortland.edu/rhetdragonscriticaleval/1007/thumbnail.jp
