Календарная регламентация начала ягодного сезона на Правобережном Полесье Украины
In presented here article by Ukrainian ethnologist Alla Dmytrenko (Алла Адамівна Дмитренко) an attempt is made to prove that the beginning of berry season on the Right Bank Polissia of Ukraine is closely connected with the dates of the national calendar, that indicates transformation of pagan rituals under the influence of Christianity. The author affirms the thesis on the basis of a wide range of ethnographic sources and claims that this transformation led to the “Christianization” of ancient traditions and contributed to the spread of beliefs about the ripening of berries on certain days of the church / folk calendar, such as Orthodox Devyatuha, Desyatuha (Девятуха, Десятуха) calendar feasts, sometimes on Вознесіння Господнє (the 40th day past Easter), Трійця (the 50th day past Easter), Онуфрій (June 25), Петра і Павла (July 12), etc.Key words: Right Bank Polissia, Ukraine, traditional household culture, gathering, berries, berries gathering season, Devyatuha, Desyatuha
Свадебные тирады со стихом 5+3 на Правобережной Черкащине
Ukrainian ethnomusicologist Halyna Pshenichkina (Галина Пшенічкіна) is interested into the variety of melodic forms from regional wedding songs. The 8 syllables (5+3) melodic form called as tirades (тирады) in Ukrainian ethnomusicology are investigated by her in this article. Such form is the second in the row of the most popular melodic forms of all Ukrainian wedding songs. The object of actual research sources is local tradition of Right-Bank Cherkasy region wedding songs. She notices the stability in general features of ritual-functional, rhythm-compositional and modal characteristics of actual melodic form in one hand, and the reflections of its unique specific local peculiarities in another hand. This way a number of standard 8 syllables (5+3) tirades melodic form examples together with various this form complications, transformations (extensions, add-ons, contaminations), and other unconventional rhythmo-melodic solutions known in the melodic lines of Right-Bank Cherkasy region wedding songs are presented and investigated in the article.Key words: Ukrainian folklore, wedding songs, tirades, Right-Bank Cherkasy region, melo-type, melo-structure block, contamination.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/td.v12i0.154

Investigating some strategies for construction of initial populations in genetic algorithms
Population initialization is one of the important tasks in evolutionary and genetic algorithms (GAs). It can affect considerably the speed of convergence and the quality of the obtained results. In this paper, some heuristic strategies (procedures) for construction of the initial populations in genetic algorithms are investigated. The purpose is to try to see how the different population initialization strategies (procedures) can influence the quality of the final solutions of GAs. Several simple procedures were algorithmically implemented and tested on one of the hard combinatorial optimization problems, the quadratic assignment problem (QAP). The results of the computational experiments demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed strategies. In addition, these strategies are of quite general character and may be easily transferred to other population-based metaheuristics (like particle swarm or bee colony optimization methods).DOI: 10.15181/csat.v5i1.1277
Suaugusiųjų bendrųjų kompetencijų plėtojimas projektų metodu
Straipsnyje analizuojamos bendrosios kompetencijos kaip esminė prielaida aktyviai suaugusiojo veiklai ir prasmingam buvimui nuolatinės kaitos sąlygomis. Akcentuojama, kad suaugusiųjų mokymosi procese bendrosios kompetencijos įgyja didžiausią svarbą suaugusiojo asmenybės plėtrai, siekiant jos pilnutinės vertingos raiškos gyvenime, veikloje. Projektų metodo taikymas suaugusiųjų mokymosi procese sudaro palankią terpę, užtikrinančią savaimingą besimokančiųjų bendrųjų kompetencijų plėtojimą. Besimokantieji, įsitraukdami į projektą, ugdosi savarankiškumą, lavinasi bendravimo ir bendradarbiavimo gebėjimus ir įgūdžius, patiria asmenybės pokyčius (transformaciją), jos vystymąsi ir tobulėjimą, t. y. plėtoja bendrąsias kompetencijas. Besimokančiųjų bendrųjų kompetencijų plėtotė projekto metodu grindžiama išsamiai aptariant bendrosios kompetencijos sampratą, jos tipologiją, svarbą suaugusiųjų gyvenimui, profesinei veiklai. Pažymima, kad projektų metodo taikymas mokymosi procese padeda suaugusiesiems plėtoti bendrąsias kompetencijas, tiesiogiai susijusias su asmens gebėjimais, kas turi lemiamą reikšmę jų asmenybės augimui ir tobulėjimui.PAGRINDINIAI ŽODŽIAI: bendroji kompetencija, projektų metodas, asmenybės tobulėjimas.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/andragogy.v7i0.138
Darbdavių požiūris į mokymosi reikšmę vyresnio amžiaus asmenims siekiant išlikti darbo rinkoje
Besikeičianti socioekonominė aplinka, technologijų diegimas, pažanga sveikatos apsaugos srityse sudaro prielaidas asmenims ilgiau išlikti veikliems ir aktyviems darbo rinkoje. Nors dažnai vyrauja stereotipinės nuostatos į vyresnio amžiaus asmenis (prastėjanti sveikata, lėtėjanti reakcija, mažesnis imlumas naujovėms), tyrimo rezultatai atskleidė, kad darbdaviai dažnai įžvelgia ir vyresnio amžiaus asmenų privalumų darbo rinkoje. Lojalumas, patikimumas, lankstumas laike, sukaupta patirtis, asmeninių savybių ir profesinių kompetencijų visuma buvo paminėti kaip privalumas profesinėje veikloje.PAGRINDINIAI ŽODŽIAI: vyresnio amžiaus asmenys, mokymasis, išlikimas darbo rinkoje.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/andragogy.v7i0.137
TOWARDS MUNICIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT: ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS FOR LOCAL FORMAL EDUCATION ESTABLISHMENTS
Educational institutions create certain environmental impacts in their operation – these impacts can be grouped into the sectors of waste, water, energy, transport and others. There is a need for educational institutions to adopt effective environmental management systems in order to reduce these impacts, as well as those of the whole municipality. The Eco-Schools programme is one of the most comprehensive and popular models of environmental education and management in the world. In recent years, the Eco-Schools programme has proved its effectiveness in numerous evaluations in several countries. The programme aims to raise awareness about environmental issues. Therefore, this programme encourages environmentally responsible behaviour involving not only members of specific schools but also reaching out to the local community. The aim of the present study was to evaluate an environmental management model of the Eco-Schools programme in Latvia. Moreover, the author assessed the country’s potential to develop environmental management systems in schools, improve environmental education and create pro-environmental attitudes and values. For research, qualitative and quantitative research methods were used: analysis of documents and a survey. The conducted survey helped to evaluate the experience of the Eco-Schools programme and prepare recommendations for policy proposals about the Eco-Schools programme as an environmental management instrument in Latvia. Also, the role of the Eco-Schools programme in promoting sustainable development was assessed. As a result, the benefits and drawbacks of the programme were identified to plan further development and, therefore, to promote efficient environmental management in educational institutions and local communities.KEYWORDS: sustainable development, municipal environmental management, environmental communication, Eco-Schools, local participation.JEL CODES: Q, Q5, Q56, Q58DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/rfds.v23i3.159
IMPROVE YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK AND HAVE THE ADVANTAGE IN THE EMPLOYMENT SEEKING PROCESS
Human resource management uses social networks to identify new employees. This research investigates if people use social networks to identify employment opportunities and how they improve their networks to get easier and quicker access to information and resources. Researchers worldwide devote their attention to different aspects of identification of new employees via social networks. The authors of the paper have done empirical research based on an online survey with 298 respondents, and the data obtained from the survey has been analysed using various statistical tools. The number of suitable candidates for employment is decreasing and companies need knowledge about the employment seeking process to have an effective and efficient recruiting strategy. This paper studies the information channel on employment possibilities, i.e. social network, and how individuals develop and improve their networks for the employment seeking process. Moreover, the authors analyse how people use social networks in the employment seeking process compared with other channels on possible employment opportunities.KEYWORDS: social networks, employment seeking process, communication channel, human resource management.JEL CODES: L14, D83, O15.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/rfds.v23i3.159
