The article by Ukrainian ethnomusicologist Anna Kolomytseva (Анна Коломицева) considered the specifics of plots and the structural features of Ukrainian cumulative form songs in inter-ethnic context. It was revealed that their composition is close to the form of cumulative (formulaic) tales. In the Ukrainian tradition songs of cumulative form belong to the not ritual children repertoire and in some cases – though common themes and features form – showing the features of syncretic unity with some tales. Currently, these songs continue to actively prevail, while maintaining the original shape, however, in some cases, filled with new vocabulary and thereby changing the functional orientation.Key words: Ukrainian folk music, cumulative song, cumulative tale, story, song form, refrain, children’s songs, a great circular form.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/td.v12i0.154

Be to, pateikiama praktinių patarimų, kaip efektyviau vykdyti Lietuvos vaikų ir jaunimo paveldo pažinimo darbą, akcentuojant neformalių veiklų, ypač vietinio ir regioninio turizmo, reikšmę.PAGRINDINIAI ŽODŽIAI: paveldas, ugdymas, interpretacija, turizmas, moksleiviai.JEL KLASIFIKACIJA: I.12.120.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/rfds.v23i3.158

DECORATED ANTLER HAMMERS AND AXES FROM ESTONIA
Finds of decorated hammers or axes made of elk antler are rather rare in Estonia. One axe comes from the River Pärnu, and another from the Otepää hill-fort and later episcopal castle site. In addition, there are two almost identical hammers: one was a stray find from Harju county, and another was found in the Medieval town of Tartu. The two stray finds have no connected items that would enable their dating. The other two examples originate from contexts that cannot be dated exactly. The aim of this research is to find parallels to help us date the Estonian items, to ascertain the material and tools used for producing these items, and to discuss on the basis of the former, and an analysis of the find contexts, the probable areas of usage and meanings of these items. Although it is not possible to date these antler objects precisely, they probably come from the end of the Estonian Prehistoric period or the Middle Ages: the 11th to the 15th centuries. The function of the items is also not definite. Tools in the shape of a hammer were probably used as hammers. It was not possible to use any axe-shaped object as an axe, so assumptions about their function are still just speculative.Key words: antler, axe, hammer, function, meaning, Middle Ages, Estonia.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/ab.v24i0.156
NATŪRALUSIS EKSPERIMENTAS KAIP SOCIALINIŲ MOKSLŲ POZITYVISTINIO TYRIMO STRATEGIJA
Although the representatives of different social sciences are trying to highlight and raise the methodological and methodical peculiarity of social sciences with respect to natural sciences, it should be noted that a big part of social sciences research is based on the positivist research paradigm. The positivist tradition allows a researcher to choose certain research methods that originated from natural sciences and to apply them in the research of social sciences. Regarding the possibilities to determine causality, an experiment is considered to be the best empirical research method. However, the emphasis is placed on the complicated application of this method to social sciences due to certain practical, political and ethical aspects. When developing ideas about an appropriate and effective use of the experimental research method in social sciences, the use of natural experiment is recommended. Although in recent years, the research based on the methodology of natural experiment is gaining popularity, there is still a lack of literature on how and when this methodology can be applied, what problems it can help to solve, how data can be collected and analysed. Thus, on the basis of methodological literature analysis, this article is an attempt to present natural experiment as a method for social researches, to provide guidelines and recommendations for the application of the methodology of natural experiment and to inspire scientific discussion about using the strategy of natural experiment in social sciences.KEYWORDS: experiment, natural experiment, positivist research strategy
