    INVESTMENTS IN LATVIA

    The effective attraction of investments to the national economy is a key factor, which provides favourable conditions to perform structural changes in the national economy, regional development as well as promotes technical progress. Therefore, investments in the public and the private sectors conduce development of the national economy and provide conditions to increase the overall competitiveness of a country. The purpose of research is to evaluate investment processes in Latvia before and after the global financial crisis, revealing investment-related problems. Also, to calculate the level of the desired investment, which would ensure the Latvia’s average GDP growth of 5% per year, according to the target set by the NDP. The analysis employs different qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, such as: scientific literature and empirical research analysis, modelling tables, charts and schemes, calculations of average and relative values, grouping, comparison and other. Publications on investment and research by Latvian and international scholars are analysed seeking to define the investment role on the economic growth process. The authors use the data available in the Central Statistical Bureau of the Republic of Latvia and Eurostat data bases, reports by the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia, the World Bank, the OECD and other studies of international organizations, as well as information provided in the Internet.     A SURVEY OF THE YOUTH AGED 16-19 IN KLAIPĖDA MUNICIPALITY: LIVING CONDITIONS AND THE FUTURE

    The purpose of this paper is to provide an initial description of youth policy and highlight some relevant data. There has been conducted a survey in the framework of CaSYPoT project (Capacity Building for Strategic Youth Policy and Transnational Cooperation) under the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2014–2020 (Project No. STHB.05.01.00-SE-0024/15). The overall aim of this project is to encourage young people to get involved into local democracy and to present the youth as the resource in the development of society and democracy. The goal of the project is the survey that was carried out in Klaipėda municipality, in the period of April–May 2017. Thus, the article analyses the findings of this survey. The questionnaire contained questions addressing young people’s well-being and safety in their neighbourhood and at school, as well as their experience getting involved in the municipality work and their influence on its decisions.     IMPACT OF REGULATORY DECISIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF Latvia ON SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT SUPPLY PROVIDED BY THE FOOD RETAIL CHAINS

    This article reflects the impact of regulatory decisions of the Republic of Latvia on the food retail sector and sustainable product supply provided by food retail chains, as well as on operational trends. Attention has been drawn to the law of the Republic of Latvia on the key characteristics of foodstuffs and sales on the market. The research covers development of classification of the main instruments characterizing the products subject to the national regulation, as well as development of a scheme of the impact of the Latvian authorities on the operation of food retail chains. To implement the goal and tasks of the research, the authors have applied quantitative and qualitative research methods of economics, i.e., comparison, grouping, graphical, assessment and analytical methods. The research is based on the results of the previous research conducted by the authors so far, the law of the Republic of Latvia, scientific works published by other scientists, general and special literature and periodicals.     PAŽANGAUS KAIMO VYSTYMOSI VAROMOSIOS JĖGOS

    Straipsnyje daugiausia dėmesio skiriama pažangių kaimų vystymo problemai, kuri susijusi su tvaria kaimo plėtra. Nagrinėjami mokslinių tyrimų rezultatai, vietinių ir tarptautinių organizacijų patirtis. Gerosios praktikos pavyzdžiai padėjo suvokti pažangaus kaimo vystymosi varomąsias jėgas ir pagrindines modelio dedamąsias. Nustatytos kaimo vietovių pažangos ir pažangaus kaimo vystymosi varomųjų jėgų prielaidos. Atliekant tyrimą taikyti mokslinės literatūros, dokumentų, gerosios praktikos pavyzdžių analizės, sisteminimo, lyginimo ir kiti metodai. Analizuoti ir vertinti tik sėkmingi gerosios praktikos pavyzdžiai. Nustatytos pažangaus kaimo vystymosi varomosios jėgos: tikslusis ūkininkavimas (žemdirbystė); skaitmeninės ir kitos atviros inovacijoms platformos; dalijimosi ekonomika; žiedinė ekonomika; bioištekliais (atsinaujinančiais) pagrįsta ekonomika; atsinaujinančioji energija; kaimo turizmas, apimantis ekologinį, sveikatai palankų maistą ir poilsį, rekreacinį turizmą; socialinės inovacijos kaimo paslaugų ir verslumo srityje; įtraukios socialinės infrastruktūros, partnerystės organizacinio mechanizmo kūrimas ir diegimas.     RETŲ PREKIŲ KAINŲ BURBULAI, ARBA VERTĖS PARADOKSAS

    Tyrimu siekiama, remiantis bendrųjų palūkanų teorija ir rinkos transformacijos principu, iš naujo paaiškinti vertės paradoksą, patikslinant jo pasireiškimo ribas. Atliktas tyrimas atskleidė, kad, atsižvelgiant į rinkos prisotinimo laipsnį, t. y. pasiūlos ir paklausos santykį, rinka gali būti kelių tipų. Pasiūlos ir paklausos santykio pasikeitimas lemia rinkos virsmą. Prisotinimu paremtų rinkų egzistavimas leidžia pagrįsti ir pateikti naują vertės paradokso paaiškinimą. Maržinalistai, atrodytų, išsprendė šį klasikinių ekonomistų vertės paradoksą, taikydami mažėjančio ribinio naudingumo dėsnį. Tačiau jis nėra universalus. Straipsnyje parodoma, kad mažėjančio ribinio naudingumo dėsnis taikytinas tik laisvosioms rinkoms (kur paklausa yra mažesnė už pasiūlą), tuo tarpu deficitinėms rinkoms (kur paklausa yra didesnė už pasiūlą) jis netinka. Retos prekės paprastai yra deficitinės, dažnai – ir vienetinės. Ribinių teorijų pritaikyti vienetiniams objektams nėra galimybės. Retoms prekėms taikytina finansinio burbulo teorija, paremta didėjančio pelningumo fenomeno egzistavimu.     Опыт активизации музыкально-этнографической работы во Львовской национальной музыкальной академии имени М. В. Лысенко

    Ukrainian ethnomusicologist Lina Dobrianska (Лiна Добрянська) states in the article, that Lviv M. V. Lysenko National Academy of Music (LLNAM) is one of the main ethnomusicological institutions in Ukraine, which has deep traditions of musical folklore research works. At the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries, musical and ethnographic activities at the Academy reached a qualitatively new level thanks to the versatile activity of the Musical Ethnology Problem Scientific Research Laboratory (MEPSRL) at LLNAM and the rapid development of its Archive. To date, its funds contain the largest national audio collection of traditional music from the Western Ukrainian and adjacent territories, as well as voluminous accompanying graphic materials. In the article, on the basis of numerous archival documents, a brief historical digression was prepared with a periodization of the main stages of practical musical and folklore studies in LLNAM in close connection with the educational process, the main factors that have made the development of the MEPSRL Archive on the verge of millennia been revealed.Key words: MEPSRL, LLNAM, musical and ethnographic archive, history of musical folklore, folk music documentation, musical ethnographic practice.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/td.v13i0.170

    MORALINĖS DORYBĖS C. S. LEWISO LITERATŪRINIAME CIKLE „NARNIJOS KRONIKOS“

    In his literary cycle The Chronicles of Narnia Clive Staples Lewis conveyed the Biblical plot, Christian values and moral virtues. The main leitmotif apparent in The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis is development of the relation with Jesus Christ. In order to achieve this purpose, the author skilfully employed the main characters and their actions to render cardinal moral virtues of wisdom, justice, strength and self-restraint. This article reveals the expression of the above mentioned cardinal moral virtues in C. S. Lewis’s literary cycle The Chronicles of Narnia through systematization of the actions of the characters and expressions of Biblical motifs. C. S.     PARAPIJOS KUNIGO ANDRAGOGINĖS FUNKCIJOS BENDRUOMENĖS VEIKLOJE, JŲ PLĖTROS GALIMYBĖS

    The first part of the article is intended to reveal theoretical assumptions for a parish priest’s andragogical functions and possibilities for expansion thereof within a community. The second one – empirical research – is intended to present the approach of X community members towards the andragogical functions exercised by the parish priest within the community as well as competencies required for exercising thereof. The article supports andragogical functions exercised by religious denomination leaders – parish priests, possibilities for expansion thereof, in cooperation with adult educator and andragogists, through sharing of experience and collaborating for the benefit of community. The developed empirical research methodology might be helpful to priests of other parishes, too, in exercising the andragogical functions within the community.     TARPDISCIPLININIS BENDRADARBIAVIMAS KURIANT VIENIJANČIĄ APLINKĄ

    The article presents the results of continuing research performed at Vytautas Magnus University and Lithuanian University of Health Sciences which justifies the importance of collboration between social workers and other professionals working in the field of helping professions, creating a person’s supportive social environment, which the article perceives as a unity environment. There are analyzed theoretical and empirical aspects of cooperation between social workers, health professionals and educators, emphasizing the conceptual attitude of personal empowerment and its significance in an aging, transforming society. The interpretation of the research results revealed, the interdisciplinary cooperation in practice is discussed, the changes of professional training and continuing education are highlighted, emphasizing readiness to work in an interdisciplinary team. In the first part of the article there are discussed social tensions, their expression in social work and healthcare practice, revealing the challenges for a person – a professional and a client. The second part of the article highlights the interdisciplinary communication, leading to the creation of enabling environment of unity, and the importance of social tensions in the context of supportive cooperation discussed resolution it’s practice. In the third part there are analyzed cases for the conditions and possibilities of educational interdisciplinary cooperation: the results of the analysis of medical and social work study programs are reflected; introduced changes in the organization of study programs, discussed the expression of innovations in study programs and practice. There is emphasized counseling as a key factor in educational change in the implementation of a “learner center”, a lifelong learning strategy in the process of continuing education.
