    History Courses and Values Education%253A History Teachers Evaluation of History Education Processes in Turkey in Terms of Values Education

    Values education is a subject matter that draws attention in history education in every period. As history is about people%252339%253Bs past lives, it naturally presents the heritage values of the society. In addition, the confrontation of the students with the historians process of history making also contributes to both seeing these values and developing other values through some collaborative processes. There exists a special relationship between history and values education and both strengthen one another over the heritage values. The main purpose of the study is to learn history teachers views about value education within the context of history courses. History teachers were asked to evaluate history courses, curriculum, and textbooks in terms of values education, and their opinions about classroom practices and effective values education were received. In this respect, qualitative research approach and case study design in accordance with its nature was adopted in the study. In 2020, 16 history teachers were interviewed via a semi-structured interview form, and the data obtained were analysed via content analysis and presented. As a result, it was observed that history teachers considered history courses as an ideal field in terms of values education. Despite this, they did not find the curriculum and textbook sufficient and they carried out values education with their own efforts, mostly through classroom practices.     A Corpus-Based Proposal for the Vocabulary to be Taught at A1 Level in the Teaching of Turkish as a Foreign Language

    While the significance of corpus-based research in the teaching of foreign language and native language is increasing, the need for such studies is also increasing accordingly. The priority of the vocabulary taught in language education are identified through corpus-based studies in line with the international criteria set in the relevant field. Corpora and sub-corpora consisting of many layers, written and oral, improve the efficiency of the teaching%252Flearning process for both teachers and learners. Corpus-based studies aiming to create word lists to be taught at the basic level are significant in this context to meet the needs of learners and teachers. In this study, 7 different A1 level textbooks and about 114-thousand-word data set used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language were examined based on the relevant corpus, and the type%252Ftoken ratios of the sub-corpus were identified. The most frequently used words in A1 corpus in the field of Turkish teaching as a foreign language are classified according to their types. Frequency lists of the words that are considered to be functional and useful in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language for both teachers and learners have been prepared%253B 250 most frequently used nouns, adjectives and verbs%253B 750 different words, which are considered to be a fairly comprehensive number for the basic level, are presented as suggestions within the scope of this study

    It can be said that entrepreneurship education is effective in realizing career plans that will shape the lives of individuals. This situation causes people to give importance to entrepreneurship. The knowledge and skills gained in the entrepreneurship education process benefit people%252339%253Bs lives. Entrepreneurship education has an undeniable effect on human life and the success of countries in social, economic, cultural and technological fields. For this reason, countries attach importance to entrepreneurship education and include this course in their education and training programs. In this study, the education system of Poland, which is one of the successful countries in research results such as PISA and TIMSS, is discussed in terms of entrepreneurship education. Entrepreneurship education in Poland is compulsory at some grade levels. Therefore, it is considered important to evaluate the entrepreneurship education practices in this country. Qualitative research method was used in the research. The data were obtained with the document review form, descriptive analysis and content analysis methods were used in the analysis of the data.     The proper and thorough functioning of the education process is based on the cooperation of the elements in education. Among the elements that should cooperate and act in harmony are teachers, school administrators and experts in educational management and supervision. Further, a curriculum is needed for the education process to proceed in a planned manner. This study aims to explore the metaphorical perceptions of teachers concerning the concepts of principal, inspector and curriculum. A qualitative research design was adopted in this study. The study group was formed through convenience and purposive sampling methods, and the study was conducted with 25 primary school teachers working in Northern Cyprus. A two-stage form was used to identify the metaphorical perceptions of the teachers. The collected data were analysed through content analysis method. They considered principals as the leader and manager of the school they worked in while stressing moderate or rigid attitudes of certain principals. Associations related to the concept of inspector were mostly about guidance%253B however, they also mentioned the negative characteristics of the inspectors they encountered regarding human relations. Finally, the concept of curriculum was perceived as a guiding adviser and as having a difficult, complex and restrictive structure. In the light of the results, it is recommended that principals be supported as regards human relations, managing relationships and communication, benefiting from guidance services in this regard.     The Role of Parents in Childrens School Readiness

    The aim of this research was to examine parental practices aimed at supporting childrens school readiness in social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic and self-care domains. A case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The study group of the research included 25 participants. The participants were determined with the maximum variation sampling type of purposive sampling method. A semi-structured interview form consisting of two parts was used as the data collection tool in the research. The findings obtained in the study were analysed with the content analysis method. The research findings revealed that for supporting childrens school readiness in social terms, parents performed practices related to friend relationships, social activities, educational activities, family interaction and giving responsibility, while for emotional support, they engaged in oral communication, emotional support, spending time and doing activities. It was revealed that for supporting childrens school readiness in cognitive terms, number activities, book reading, games and oral activities were performed%253B for language support, conversation, book reading, games and feedback were practised%253B while for support in terms of self-care, practices aimed at fostering habits, giving responsibility and being a role model were carried out

    An Overview of Listening Skills of Secondary School Students%253A Barriers and Suggestions

    This study investigates the listening skills of students at secondary school. In this context, this study focuses on identifying students listening problems according to teacher perspectives and examining the causes of these problems. It also aims to find out how teachers address these issues and the types of solutions they propose. In order to meet these objectives, case study with a qualitative research design was conducted. Participants were identified according to the purposive sampling method. Data were collected from ten teachers working at different secondary schools at a variety of levels using a criterion sampling approach. Data were also collected through semi-structured interviews. The qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. The studys findings indicated that the secondary school students struggled to understand listening rules, listen to courses, comprehend what they listen to and increase their motivation during lessons. Additionally, the results indicated the causes of the problems, and of the types of suggestions that could be made to resolve them. Seven themes emerged in the study as a result of teachers perspectives, consisting of%253B the family, the environment, readiness, the speaker, the listener, education and listening materials. When the source of the listening problems is examined, the family structure and the lack of emphasis placed on the listening process by families, the lack of appropriate environmental conditions, the inability of students to be drawn to the listening material and the teacher, and the lack of awareness are highlighted. The outcomes of resolving these problems include providing the necessary learning environment and materials for increased listening, improving teacher self-development, creating an environment in which students can learn through doing, cooperating with family, school, environment and teacher and to eliminating the lack of education

    The Relationship Between Organizational Justice, Professional Motivation and Organizational Identification%253A A Study on Teachers

    The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between organizational justice, professional motivation and organizational identification. In this study, relational model was used. The population of the study consists of teachers from primary schools in the province of Gaziantep in Turkey during 2019-2020 academic year, and the sample consists of 368 primary school teachers. The data were collected through Organizational Justice Scale, Professional Motivation Scale and Organizational Identification Scale. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics about the variables were calculated, correlation and regression analysis were performed. According to the descriptive statistical results of the study, teachers%252339%253B perceptions of organizational justice, professional motivation and organizational identification are at a high level. Organizational justice has a positive, moderate relationship with professional motivation and organizational identification. Besides, there is a positive and moderate relationship between professional motivation and organizational identification. As a result of the stepwise multiple regression analysis conducted to determine the relationship between professional motivation, organizational justice, and organizational identification, it was determined that professional motivation has a partial mediating role in the relationship between organizational justice and organizational identification. It is considered important to increase the motivation of teachers by treating them equally and fairly in the distribution of resources to identify with the school. Moreover, with the increase in motivation, it can be ensured that teachers increase their performance and identify with their organizations

    An Examination of Graduate Theses Completed Between 2010 and 2020 about Academic Procrastination

    This study aims to analyze graduate theses completed between 2010 and 2020 about academic procrastination. Qualitative survey method was used in the study. In the study, document analysis was used as the analysis method. After an initial search made using academic procrastination keyword in Council of Higher Education Thesis Center%252339%253Bs Web Page (CoHE-thesis) 97 theses completed between 2010 and 2020 were found and analyzed. Primarily, graduate theses were analyzed according to their types, topics of study, methods, number of samples and sample group distribution. Afterwards, the methods, sample distributions and sample numbers of the theses according to their types were examined. Majority of these 97 completed theses are postgraduate theses (n%253D83), secondly doctoral theses (n%253D12), and thirdly specialty in medicine theses (n%253D2). As for the methods used, relational method (n%253D68) was seen to be the most used method after which comes descriptive method (n%253D15), thirdly interventional method (n%253D6), fourthly descriptive and relational method (n%253D3), and fifthly relational and interventional method (n%253D1). As for sample groups, the most researched sample group was university students (n%253D49). The most researched topics in theses on the subject of academic procrastination were educational and socio-demographic characteristics

    An Intercultural Study on the Characteristics of Mother Tongue Education Course Books Content

    The purpose of this research is to set the characteristics of the contents of the course books that are prepared for the lessons of mother tongue education in secondary schools in different countries. Within the frame of the purpose, the content of the course books in Germany, Austria, Finland, Northern Macedonia, Hungary and Turkey were analyzed in three aspects. The first of all is about which sections are included in the general content, the second is about how the classification of the content was made and finally the third one includes how the language skills and the fields of learning are placed in the content. Figured in a quantitative way and the document of the research in which the content analyzed is composed by the 23 course books used in the countries that are mentioned above. In the analysis of the data 3 arguments and a checklist that enables to make a systematic evaluation consists of 28 items is used. As a result of the research, it is confirmed that the content of mother language course books in countries differ from each other due to the general properties of content%253B while classifying the course books generally multiplied structure dominated by thematic, functional and grammatical segmentation, it has been determined that all language skills, vocabulary teaching and grammar, both theoretical and practical, are included in the books. At the end of the study, it is recommended to take the course books in Germany and Hungary as an example while preparing the Turkish course books

    The COVID-19 Pandemic%253A Teacher Candidates Views regarding the Virus and Vaccination Process

    In order for societies to normalize in educational, economic, social and mental health areas, the COVID-19 pandemic must be ended as soon as possible. Currently, the most critical factor in eliminating the pandemic seems to be the vaccine. Vaccination is one of the most successful public health interventions and is a cornerstone for communicable disease prevention. Both current teachers and teacher candidates should be competent in the field of health literacy as well as in the education and training process. In this study, we tried to reveal the views of teacher candidates regarding COVID-19 and its vaccines based on the studies reporting that anti-vaccination increased in individuals with more education. Six hundred thirty-eight teacher candidates participated in the study. The research data were collected through an 11-item questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using descriptive and cross-tabulation analyzes. Research findings mainly showed that vaccine acceptance was low, and most of the participants thought the virus is artificial. Another finding of the research revealed that most of the participants who complied with all the rules regarding COVID-19 did not get the virus%253B however, it was seen that nearly all of the participants who caught COVID-19 had an infected individual in their family. Given the importance of vaccination, measures should be taken for vaccination hesitation and rejection
