PROSEDUR PENERJEMAHAN METAFORA KONSEPTUAL DALAM PIDATO PRESIDEN JOKO WIDODO
Full text linkThis research aims to examine how interpreters translate conceptual metaphors in President Joko Widodo\u27s speech during the 2022 G20 Summit meeting in Bali. This research used the basic conceptual metaphor theory of Lakoff and Johnson (1980) and the metaphor translation theory by Broeck (1981) in its analysis. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data source in this research was taken from President Joko Widodo\u27s speech at the G20 Summit in Bali, which KOMPASTV uploaded. This research has three stages: data provision stage, data analysis stage, and data analysis results presentation stage. The researcher found 76 conceptual metaphor data from the study in President Joko Widodo\u27s speech at the 2022 G20 Summit meeting. Of the 76 conceptual metaphors found, there are 53 (69.7%) metaphors translated with the same imagery, 13 (17.1%) metaphors translated with different imagery, and 10 (13.2 %) metaphors had their imagery removed. Most of the metaphors in this speech were translated while maintaining ST\u27s original image (69.7%).Artikel penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti bagaimana juru bahasa menerjemahkan metafora konseptual dalam pidato presiden Joko Widodo dalam pertemuan KTT G20 2022 di Bali. Penelitian ini didasari oleh teori metafora konseptual milik Lakoff dan Johnson (1980), serta teori prosedur penerjemahan metafora oleh Broeck (1981) dalam analisisnya. Penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini didapatkan dari pidato Presiden Joko Widodo dalam KTT G20 di Bali yang diunggah oleh KOMPASTV. Penelitian ini memiliki tiga tahapan: tahap pengumpulan data, tahap analisis data, dan tahap penyajian hasil analisis data. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, peneliti menemukan 76 data metafora konseptual pada pidato presiden Joko Widodo dalam pertemuan KTT G20 tahun 2022. Dari 76 metafora konseptual tersebut, terdapat 53 (69.7%) metafora yang citranya dipertahankan, 13 (17.1%) metafora yang citranya diubah, dan 10 (13.2%) metafora yang citranya dihilangkan. Secara keseluruhan, sebagian besar metafora dalam pidato ini diterjemahkan dengan mempertahankan citra asli BSu (69.7%)
Islamist Extremism, Propaganda, And New Media: A Case Study of @Mutiaradabiq During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Full text linkThe activities of Islamist extremist actors are increasingly intensive during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which they are progressively active in producing Islamist narratives in cyberspace. Strategic communication is one of the techniques for Islamist extremist groups to perpetuate their influences on society through social media during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus this research aims to study propaganda as part of strategic communication in Islamist extremist activities during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021), primarily through Facebook @MutiaraDabiq. This research considers that strategic communication and propaganda are two interrelated communication entities. This study is qualitative research and uses critical discourse analysis (CDA) as a method of data analysis. This research argues that propaganda on social media worked significantly through verbal and visual discourse uploaded by Islamist extremist actor, who reveals rational connections between language use and social reality. This study found how the existences propaganda of this Facebook account can exist during the COVID-19 pandemic by; first, strategic communication emerges into instrumental propaganda at the @MutiaraDabiq performance, and second, strategic communication flourish in discourse logic at the @MutiaraDabiq account
Ideological Perlocutions of Palestinian and Israeli News on CNN Arabic Instagram (Pragmatic Cyber Study)
Full text linkThe Palestine-Israel conflict has long been a deeply scrutinized subject, with social media playing a pivotal role in amplifying discussions around this complex issue. However, this dominant phenomenon has only been studied in aspects of discourse with a theoretical purpose. The concrete implications seen from perlocutions in the virtual realm have yet to be reviewed related to this phenomenon. Therefore, this research will reveal it with a pragmatic cyber approach. The research data included language features in the narrative of CNN Arabic Instagram posted throughout January 2022-May 2023. Data were collected using simak and sadap techniques and supplemented by descriptive and reflective notes. The data were analyzed with a pragmatic cyber perspective with a padan method correlating the comparison between lingual and extra-lingual elements. The results showed that in 17 posts throughout 2022-2023 with 40 data. 13 data (30%) found perlocutions to attract attention; 11 data (27%) perlocutions to arouse curiosity; 8 data (20%) perlocutions to distract; 5 data (10%) perlocutions to encourage; 2 data (5%) perlocutions to embarrass; and 1 data (2%) perlocution to frighten. This result indicates CNN Arabic\u27s tendency to maintain Israel\u27s image most subtly and tactically possible: to "attract attention"
Tolerance Based on Love in Maulana Jalāl al-dīn Rūmī’s Thought
Full text linkTolerance, proclaimed by UNESCO around two decades ago, has almost succeeded in becoming a culture lived by the world community. The culture of war as conflict resolution has changed into a culture of peace through tolerance. However, philosophically, this discourse is flawed and paradoxical in many points. Is this flawed concept worthy of being a cultural value imposed on humanity? Here, the author wants to explore an alternative source of the value of tolerance from a significant figure in Islam named Rumi. Maulana Muhammad Jalāl al-Din Rumi is a great poet in Islamic history. Through the beautiful poetry, he taught humans a mystical journey towards God and then lived peacefully in harmony with diversity and difference. For him, a peaceful life must begin with recognizing God. By remembering God, a person will undoubtedly know humans and their characteristics and how they should live in them. This article explores Rumi\u27s concept of love, which teaches one to live peacefully amidst diversity and differences
The Migration of the Arab Literary Minority in Europe: \u27Alī Badr\u27s Novels and His Vertical Mobilization
Full text linkThis research is rooted in a profound appreciation for the rich literary heritage of Arab society from the past, which we seek to revive in the present. The primary objective of this study is to delve into the values, messages, and ideologies conveyed by the novelist \u27Alī Badr through his novels: \u27Bābā Sārtir\u27 (2001), \u27Shitā\u27u al-\u27Āilah\u27 (2002), and \u27al-Walīmah al-\u27Āriyah\u27 (2004), as these literary works engage in global discourse. This study applies two approaches: the international relations perspective as the foundation for fostering global interconnectedness and the media perspective, which evaluates the extent to which Arabic novels influence and shape the universal discourse of humanity. The analysis within the international relations framework, utilizing Michael Barnett\u27s constructivist perspective, seeks to uncover the dynamics of social interactions and the nuanced dimensions of power. This examination aims to understand the implications of Arab novelists\u27 engagement with their European counterparts. The analysis within the media approach, using Gill Branston and Roy Stafford\u27s globalization perspective, aims to capture global media narratives that encapsulate their evaluation of the presence and impact of \u27Ali Badr\u27s novels. This research concludes that the involvement of \u27Alī Badr and his works in the European literary landscape not only serves as a platform for the contestation of global ideas depicted in his novels but also garners widespread global acclaim, as evidenced by numerous awards

Full text linkAbstract: This paper examines and discusses various perspectives on the historical writing of the Javanese Sabil War. Additionally, it addresses the meaning of history, historical sources, the Qur’an’s guidance on the importance of history, the value of history, and the urgency of rewriting it. The analytical method applied in this paper is a literature study using primary and secondary sources. The insights provided aim to encourage readers, academics, and researchers to conduct further research and write their studies comprehensively. In this way, the unique essence of Indonesian history can be effectively conveyed, especially when the facts are presented by Indonesians themselves.Abstrak: Penelitian ini membahas berbagai perspektif tentang penulisan sejarah Perang Sabil Jawa. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga membahas makna sejarah, sumber sejarah, petunjuk Al-Qur\u27an tentang pentingnya sejarah, nilai sejarah, dan urgensi penulisan ulang sejarah. Metode analisis yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi literatur dengan menggunakan sumber primer dan sekunder. Analisis yang disajikan bertujuan untuk mendorong pembaca, akademisi, dan peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian lanjutan dan menulis studi mereka secara komprehensif. Dengan cara ini, esensi khas sejarah Indonesia dapat disampaikan secara efektif, terutama jika fakta-faktanya disajikan oleh orang Indonesia sendiri
