Is Awareness Enough to Change Consumer Behavior? The Moderating Role of Social Norms in Sustainable Behavior

Household waste management remains a significant environmental issue in Indonesia, particularly in urban regions such as West Java. There have been increased public campaign and environmental education efforts, but it does not always mean behavioral change in adopting sustainable consumption patterns. This study investigates the impact of environmental concern on environmentally responsible consumer behavior and the moderating role of social norms, and analyzes three antecedents of environmental concern: consumer education, influencer credibility, and product information clarity. Using a quantitative approach with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), data were collected from 230 West Java consumers at household level using online and offline questionnaires. The results indicate that environmental awareness plays a significant role in sustainable behavior, and social norms positively moderate this effect. In addition, consumer education, influencer credibility, and product information quality all play a significant role in the formation of environmental awareness. The findings endorse the relevance of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) for understanding sustainable consumption and offer an integrative model consolidating the cognitive, communicative, and normative dimensions. This study presents pragmatic takeaways for campaign developers and policymakers both, pointing out that it\u27s not only a matter of awareness but also shaping facilitative social environments to drive long-term behavior change

Systematic Review of Leadership Types Impacting Decision Support System Effectiveness Across Life Cycle Phases

This study explores the influence of transformational, transactional, adaptive, and digital leadership on Decision Support System (DSS) effectiveness across its life cycle phases. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on PRISMA guidelines, 25 articles from Scopus, Web of Science, and EBSCO databases were analyzed to examine leadership impact during DSS adoption, implementation, assimilation, and extension. The findings indicate that transformational leadership fosters innovation and acceptance in adoption, transactional leadership ensures compliance and stability in implementation, adaptive leadership enables flexibility in assimilation, and digital leadership drives continuous innovation in extension, enhancing overall DSS effectiveness. This study fills a critical gap in the literature by integrating traditional and emerging leadership perspectives to explain how leadership styles must evolve dynamically throughout the DSS life cycle. By integrating adaptive and digital leadership into traditional leadership frameworks, this study contributes to leadership and technology adoption research. Practically, the study guides organizational leaders, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia, to align their leadership approaches with each DSS phase, enabling more effective digital transformation and sustained system utilization. It proposes a conceptual framework illustrating leadership\u27s dynamic role in DSS phases and highlights the need for future empirical validation across various organizational contexts

Kajian Strukturalisme Todorov dalam Cerpen Berciri Realisme Magis: Todorov’s Structuralism in a Short Story with Magical Realism

This study aims to reveal the representation of Tzvetan Todorov’s structuralism in the short story Memanggil Roh Singa (“Summoning the Lion’s Spirit”), which contains elements of magical realism. Todorov’s structuralist approach is employed to examine the relationship among the intrinsic elements, particularly the narrative facts, theme, and literary devices. The short story is analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method through close reading of the text and identification of its narrative structure based on Todorov’s framework, as well as an analysis of the characteristics of magical realism using Wendy B. Faris’s theory to validate its magical aspects. The results indicate that Memanggil Roh Singa represents Todorov’s distinctive structural pattern, consisting of 21 narrative sequences dominated by flashbacks. The setting portrays magical elements with a ritual theme of “kammala”, narrated from a first-person point of view. The narration is dominated by metaphorical and personifying language, enriched with mystical symbols. This research demonstrates that Todorov’s structuralism is effective in uncovering the layers of meaning within a short story characterized by magical realism, as it reveals the coherence between the narrative structure and its embedded mystical dimensions

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in herbal plant processing as an ethnoscience-based biology learning strategy, determine its impact on students\u27 understanding of biology concepts, and identify cultural values that can be developed through this learning. The study uses a mixed-methods approach with the following stages: (1) literature study and instrument development, (2) development of an ethnoscience-based PjBL module, (3) implementation in the Herbal Botany course at the University of Muhammadiyah Maluku, (4) observation and data collection through questionnaires, learning outcome tests, and interviews, and (5) descriptive quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The research subjects were 15 students of the Biology Education Study Program. The results showed that the implementation of PjBL was considered effective with an average score of effectiveness indicators in the range of 3.72–3.90 (scale 4), covering aspects of learning design, clarity of instructions, active student involvement, the role of lecturers, and increasing learning motivation. The impact on understanding biological concepts was also significant with an average indicator score of 3.65–3.98, particularly on the ability to link theory to practice, understand the structure and function of herbal plants, and produce products based on scientific concepts. Furthermore, the integration of ethnoscience was proven to strengthen local Maluku cultural values, with indicator scores of 3.74–3.98, such as respect for local wisdom, understanding traditional practices, and awareness of preserving culture through science. Thus, the ethnoscience-based PjBL model is effective as an innovative learning strategy that not only improves students\u27 understanding of biology but also fosters an appreciation for local cultural identit

Evaluation of Carrying Capacity for the Cultivation of Freshwater Fish in Kendaldoyong Reservoir Demak, Central Java

Every year, the demand for fresh fish rises as the general population becomes more aware of its health benefits.  As a result, a carrying capacity study is required for the extension of fish cultivation area using the Kendaldoyong Reservoir in Demak Regency, Central Java Province.  The quantity of phytoplankton cells reflects the amount of chlorophyll-a in the water, hence the value of primary productivity is used to calculate water body carrying capacity.  This study was conducted from July to August 2024.  Temperature, transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, phosphate, and phytoplankton cell abundance were all tested to assess water quality. Temperature: 29.6°C, transparency: 26.5 cm, pH: 8.5, dissolved oxygen: 4.4 mg/L, nitrate: 1.01 mg/L, nitrite: 0.0121 mg/L, ammonia: 0.0334 mg/L, phosphate: 0.091 mg/L, and phytoplankton cell abundance: 1,050,857 cells/L were the outcomes of allocating the parameter measurements in this study.  The carrying capacity of the waters of Kendaldoyong Pond is 1.14 tons of fish per year, based on the concentration of phytoplankton abundance throughout the study
