The plot is structured chronologically and reflectively, moving between the past and the present. The setting and time depict social realities, while the message emphasizes the importance of accepting identity and historical memory as a form of resistance against discrimination. Overall, Cyntha Hariadi successfully constructs poetry as a narrative medium that represents identity, racism, and social criticism through simple yet meaningful poetic language

Regional language interference remains a common issue in the use of Indonesian in higher education, particularly among students who are native speakers of the Manggarai language. This phenomenon appears through the influence of regional linguistic structures and vocabulary on the accuracy of Indonesian sentences. This study aims to identify the forms of Manggarai language interference in the Indonesian used by students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas Pancasakti Makassar, and to describe its manifestations in interrogative, exclamatory, and conditional sentences. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data consisting of utterances obtained from interviews and recorded conversations with students. Data were collected through interviews and participant observation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings show that interference is most frequently found in interrogative sentences, amounting to 14 out of 23 data (60.87%). Interference in exclamatory sentences appears in 5 data (21.74%), while conditional sentence interference is the least, with 4 data (17.39%). These results indicate that interrogative sentence structures are the most vulnerable to the influence of the Manggarai language. Therefore, greater reinforcement is needed to encourage the consistent use of standard Indonesian, particularly in constructing interrogative sentences

    Get PDF
This research aims to develop and validate an e-module based on the Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model to facilitate students\u27 critical thinking skills on energy crisis materials. The research uses the ADDIE development model, which is limited to the formative evaluation stage, including needs analysis, design, development, and readability and practicality tests. The results of expert validation show that the e-module is in the "quite valid" category with an average of 83.2%. The readability test obtained results of 89.25% from students and 88.4% from teachers (outstanding category), while the practicality test by teachers reached 91.67% (convenient category). The results of the Fleiss’ Kappa test showed a “moderate” level of agreement on the SSCS syntax (0.50) and the critical thinking indicator (0.57). The e-module also features interactive features such as learning videos and contextual educational games. These findings indicate that SSCS-based e-modules are suitable for use as science learning media to encourage the strengthening of students’ critical thinking skills independently and contextually. The implications of this research suggest that integrating the SSCS model into digital learning media can enhance students’ engagement and reflective thinking, and it provides a foundation for future experimental studies to measure its effectiveness in improving learning outcomes

Memory receives various influences from the social background, starting from the surrounding community where the individual lives. Interactions between individuals, including with the community, foster memory. This shows that remembering requires a social context to materialize. One manifestation of memory is from individual trauma or collective trauma in a society. The source of memory is rooted in the collective material of human social products. From Somali to Bahasa Indonesia: A Narrative Case Study on Language Policy and the Lived Linguistic Experience of a Somali Student in Indonesia: Dari Somalia ke Bahasa Indonesia: Studi Kasus Naratif tentang Kebijakan Bahasa dan Pengalaman Linguistik Mahasiswa Somalia di Indonesia

    Get PDF
Indonesia\u27s growing English-Medium Instruction (EMI) policy and vibrant multilingual landscape attract international students, yet the linguistic experiences of African students remain significantly under-researched. This narrative inquiry explored how Somali students in Indonesia perceive and navigate their linguistic experiences while enrolled in EMI programs, and what narratives emerge that illuminate the broader implications of language policy and multicultural education in Indonesia. A single Somali undergraduate participant was selected, and data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, a life story approach, and observational notes. The data were analyzed using thematic narrative analysis. Key findings revealed profound language shock and initial identity displacement, strategic translanguaging and technological mediation, the vital role of peer-mediated emotional and linguistic support, and the cultivation of resilience alongside an evolving learner identity. These insights underscore the necessity for more robust pre-arrival language support, formalized peer mentoring programs, and targeted lecturer training to bridge the gap between EMI policy and practice. This study contributes to a nuanced understanding of language policy\u27s lived implications and offers practical recommendations for enhancing international student inclusion in diverse educational contexts.
