The analysis of the impact of business process outsourcing on the profitability of commercial airline in the conditions of a global pandemic
This article provides an economic assessment of the impact of the global pandemic COVID-19 on the economic efficiency of commercial airlines. The dominant role of airlines in the formation of flexible service supply chain and service travel chain has been identified, which increases their customer orientation and competitiveness in the air transportation market, as well as allows them to adapt more quickly to the changing logistics environment. It has been proven that the use of the outsourcing mechanism in combination with the diversification of services provided, allows, on the one hand, to create added consumer value for customers, and on the other - necessitates building complex integration relationships with business partners in service supply chains. Analysis of statistics and experience of leading airlines with different business models in the air transportation market has shown that outsourcing business processes in a global pandemic has allowed carriers to optimize costs according to the volume of work, respond flexibly to changes in consumer demand and better overcome negative impacts external logistics environment
Parameter of Cooperation of Composite Components in Views about Vertical Wall from Reinforced Soil
The publication considers reinforced soil in relation to the construction of retaining walls in communication construction. The basic elements determining the cooperation of reinforcement inserts with the ground centre are discussed, depending on the features characterizing the components of the composite. The method and selected results of tests performed on a massif model with a vertical wall made of non-cohesive ground have been presented. A calculation example is given concerning the internal dimensioning of the reinforcement of the considered massif model, assuming the work of inserts without slipping in the ground centre. The concept of reinforcement co-operation indicator with the ground centre was introduced and a dependence to calculate its value was developed. The values of co-operation indicators: general and partial, concerning individual measurement levels of the model have been presented appropriately
Ways of eliminating the road effect in transition zones from the railway track to bridge structures
Selected methods of constructing special inserts in the transition zones between the embankment of the railway track and the engineering object (bridge, viaduct, or culvert) were discussed. The purpose of mounting the designed inserts is to eliminate the so-called threshold effect, i.e. continuously creating a mild change in the stiffness of the ground under the track. In addition to the solutions presented in practice, attention was also paid to projects developed by the authors of this article. The results of experimental research constituting the basis for the development of some solutions are also given
Economic Risk Management of Civil Aviation in the Context of Ensuring Sustainable Development of the National Economy
Aviation security is an important component of the concept of general national security, the system of personal security, public safety and transport safety from external and internal threats. Maintaining an acceptable level of national aviation safety is a priority for the industry. Economic security is very important in the context of globalization. The main tool for ensuring these tasks is proactive risk management. The development of economic risk management tools is relevant for sustainable development, both the industry of civil aviation in particular and in the state economy as a whole
THE ABILITY TO RESTORE RAILWAY TRAFFIC ON THE ROUTE OF JELENIA GÓRA – KARPACZ/KOWARY
Discusses the reason for the suspension of the rail traffic on the route of Jelenia Góra – Karpacz. Indicated the possibility of reactivation of services on this route. Based on equations of motion calculations have been carried out theoretical, the result of which was the appointment of the technical summary and the time of travel. Sets a reasonable interval of trains and the proposed timetable, taking into account the relationship beyond the Jelenia Góra. The article was based on the need to introduce a supplementary communication supported electrobuses. The concept of reactivation railway traffic in this area is worth it for the construction of the P+R parking. Proposed also further development of transport system in this area
Performance management in logistics companies – two-dimensional approach
The main aim of the article is to emphasize the problem of selecting performance management (PM) indicators in logistics companies. This issue is particularly significant, because the proper selection of PM measures affect on: the effectiveness of the implemented performance measurement system, the nature of information provided to its individual stakeholders, the system of interconnections within the organization, and often even the efficiency of the entire business entity on the market. However, paper draws attention to the potential of deliberately distorting the reported company results by the management team. Hence the secondary goal of the article is to select various tools and/or techniques, which may be helpful in assessing the quality of reporting PM - in relation to the real earnings management (REM). The applied research methods are based on a critical analysis of the literature on the subject matter
MAJOR FEATURES OF ADAPTIVE SUPPLY CHAINS – LITERATURE REVIEW
Adaptiveness is one of the most significant features of the supply chain that affects the results of its functioning. The capability of the supply chain to adapt to all the more demanding conditions is one of the main factors that guarantee long-term competitiveness and success. R. Kalakota, M. Robinson and P. Gundepudi consider inventory visibility, fulfillment velocity and coordination versatility as three fundamental pillars of adaptive supply chains, also termed as 3V in the literature. The chief objective of this paper is the identification of features that a supply chain should have in order to be called adaptive, as well as the verification of their compliance with the 3V principle. The review of the available literature sources that focus on the subject of the major features of adaptive supply chains (in particular having a decisive effect on their adaptive capabilities) has resulted in certain common elements. The authors of all the described approaches emphasise the two features: visibility and velocity. The third, frequently indicated, feature is also versatility or variety (that can be treated as one of the elements of the versatility of the supply chain). Visibility involves ensuring access to the information for all participants in the supply chain, also customers. Velocity, in turn, refers to the reaction time of the supply chain to all sorts of events and the time of implementing necessary changes. The third element is versatility. It primarily involves balancing the operational capability of the supply chain with market requirements, in particular delivering suitable products and services of the required quality and in the ordered volume. It is also vital to adjust the offer to the individual needs of the customers
WILL TRANSPORT AFFECT GLOBALIZATION? Are we heading back to locally based economic activities?
The paper discusses some aspects of the transport industry’s impact on the process of globalization in the world economy. Emphasis is put on the emerging new trends in that area, and in particular on the reverse globalization frequently referred to as “de-globalization”.While the latter concept provides ground for controversy, it seems that it has become visible in the number of trades and in particular in food trades which engage a considerable portion of the world transport system’s carrying capacity.Moving back to local production of food, one of many areas where the process of de-globalization appears to have started, might liberate vast reserves of transport capacity worldwide while, simultaneously, it will contribute to the reduction of transport-generated pollution. Arguments for such a solution are raised in the paper as is the necessity for more in-depth analysis in this fiel
The use of the EOQ model in inventory management in the supply chain on the example of Bahlsen Polska
The article presents the theoretical basis of the EOQ (economic quantity order) model, which allows you to optimize the size of the order so as to minimize the cost of frozen capital. The next part presents the results of implementing the model at Bahlsen Polska, assuming that it does not receive any discounts from suppliers in relation to the size of the order. This assumption can be excluded in the case of the functioning of the disposition system, carried out taking into account large contracts with the supplier. Optimization in this situation does not apply to the quantity in the contract, but only to a single call, which is information for the supplier who must deliver a certain amount of goods and at the same time reduce the balance appearing in the contract
The competitiveness of small Baltic container terminals. The PROMETHEE II multi-criteria analysis
The article examines the competitiveness of small Baltic container terminals. In order to conduct the research, thirty terminals, whose annual maximum throughput capacity does not exceed 150,000 TEU, have been examined taking into consideration a number of criteria, which are: length of the quay (C1), number of RTG (C2) and STS (C3) cranes, number of shortsea shipping connections (C4), maximum (technical) depth at the quay (C5), distance from motorways and expressways/national roads (C6), distance from the national railway station (C7). Selected k=7 criteria were used to perform PROMETHEE II (Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations II) multi-criteria ranking that enabled specifying those Baltic Sea container nodes, which are in the area of strategic benefits for the analysed market sector
