    Get PDF
AbstractSo much pressure abounds for supply chains to deliver goods and services in the right quantity, quality, to the right place and at the right time and least cost possible. It is an acceptable fact that supply chain operations, local or global, face numerous unforeseen challenges that expose them to ineffective and inefficient performance. It is evident that organisations that manage environmental, social and economic risks are better positioned to deliver sustainable supply chain operations. The next generation of supply chain management should not be comfortable with the old adage of out-of-sight out-of-mind behaviour as this presents an unacceptable reputational risk level to the sustainability of logistics business operations

    No full text
Along with the processes of air transport liberalisation and globalisation, there is a continuous need for searching new forms of cooperation between transport companies and constant coordination of market relations. In this area, multilateral alliances and bilateral air transport agreements are important, as they constitute crucial mechanisms which consequently enable to increase the number of  benefits from these partnerships. The range of such air transport agreements mainly involves improvements of the air transport market, because it stimulates the income of all subjects which take part in passengers’ service, namely haulers, travel agencies and other companies responsible for production for air sector. In this system, mutual benefits between all cooperating subjects are fulfilled as one stream of income that is generated by the air transport market without which the existence and development of the abovementioned subjects is impossible and meaningless. Thus, revenues of non-aeronautical subjects is highly dependent on the economies of scale of transport. Apparently, this obvious fact constitutes one of indices of the air transport market characteristics and effectively of its transformations in the 21st century. The purpose of this paper is to show the importance of partnership and code-share agreements within the development of air transport globalisation by using critical analysis of literature, observing functioning of subjects which construct the global market of air transport, and formulating conclusions and recommendations through deduction

    Get PDF
The role of air transport in logistics and supply chains seems difficult to be overestimated. In recent years increasing amounts of cargo have been transported by air. Numerous high-tech devices, valuable equipment, medical products and appliances are transported by air. The main advantage of air transport is speed but also broad transportation geography, high reliability and security of goods supplies and continuous monitoring of cargo flows. Air transport can be organized in a traditional way, however there are also some unconventional methods to handle such transport processes. The RFS model (Road Feeder Service) comes as a response to the demands of the contemporary market of logistics services.Scopes: The subject of the paper is the presentation of an unconventional way of organizing the carriage of goods by air, presenting its attractiveness to all parties involved in the transportation process, as well as directions of its development.Methodology: The methodology of the paper is based on 2 dimensions: analysis and synthesis. The first phase included a thorough thematic literature review, analysis of case studies of Polish air cargo market. It was complemented by interviewing airlines representatives about RFS solutions. In the synthetic phase, the study provided conclusions based on the theoretical analysis and the survey of case study. Results: Results of the research shows RFS solution, involving transportation of cargo (commissioned by airlines) by trucks from regional airports to major cargo airports, referred to as hubs, and then transportation of cargo by air, using is caused by the necessity of increasing cargo transport efficiency by the airlines. It is also important to note the willingness of airports, both hubs and regional, to cooperate with air carriers in the area of air cargo handling in RFS model

Modern cars are increasingly equipped not only with the driver assisting systems, but also in multimedia devices allowing to track the information, use the Internet or send and receive e-mail. This type of activity can cause dangerous situations by inducing various forms of distraction to the driver. In order to identify the effects caused by performing additional tasks while driving, two types of secondary tasks were proposed. The following article presents the results of a pilot study that uses two additional tasks to induce the driver with cognitive load not related to driving. At the same time, in the course of the experiment, both the driving performance and the quality of performing additional tasks was observed. The article describes selected results of the conducted study
