A manager in the times of international management

    Get PDF
Globalization processes and internationalization of business activities have an impact on management issues. Conducting business activity in the supra-national dimension forces the need for a different view of perceiving a number of phenomena. These issues are strongly emphasized by the authors in their article. They emphasize not only the complexity of the process of making managerial decisions, but also the need, even the necessity, of continuous improvement of competences by persons holding managerial functions. The study emphasizes the necessity of analysing the environment, as well as forecasting the development of the situation, especially in the longer term. In the presented description, the authors go beyond the conventional description, adding new issues and threads, emphasizing in particular the growing role of human capital in managing organizations, and - which has not been clearly emphasized - their deliberations focus on the European economic area

Media and Local Communities in the Context of Humanitarian Aid

    Get PDF
The subject of the article is creating the image of local communities in the media in the context of humanitarian aid. The rationale for taking up the topic are extraordinary events and the resulting humanitarian needs as well as the media creating the image of the victims and the need to help them. The information presented by the media is a signpost for donators of humanitarian aid. They make it possible to recognize the needs of the victims and provide them with full-value assistance. The assistance provided enables the local community to readapt, and also draws attention to the situation in a given area. The article adopted the research goal of defining the role of the media in creating the image of the local community in the context of providing humanitarian aid. The research goal adopted in this way allowed for a hypothesis that the media constitute the basis for creating the image of local communities in need of humanitarian aid. Composing a social view of humanitarian aid beneficiaries appoints the media as an organ that determines the type, direction and volume of humanitarian aid.The formulated hypothesis was verified thanks to the use of research methods in the form of a case study, desk research and an analysis of the scientific literature. The article presents the media as a key area in creating the image of humanitarian aid beneficiaries

Research on vertical displacements of an experimental section of a railway track with a spatial mat reinforcement

    Get PDF
The subject of the article are the layers strengthening the base of the railway track, used in special cases of modernization of the main lines on the Polish State Railways. The construction of a three-dimensional reinforcing mat, also known as a "mattress", is presented. The reinforcing "mattress" is a layer of stone aggregate pre-compressed in an openwork coating made of plastic mesh. The results of the research on vertical displacements of the experimental section established in the railway track with a spatial mat embedded in the substrate are discussed. Vertical displacements were obtained as a function of time in the track subjected to the operation process

The Key Role of the Dimensions of Supply Chain Management on the Success of the Project Completion Process

    Get PDF
From studies, reports, and information, we see that the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) has a major impact on project success. The Supply Chain Management (SCM) plays an important role in achieving potential cross-company success because the SCMS allows us to control the development, design, management and identification of the most effective and efficient inputs, information and other resources required to complete the project. An effective SCMS is of essential importance for the strength of the competition and for the success of the entire organization. Therefore, the competitive advantage in this new environment no longer depends on the company's performance, but also on the entire supply chain partners, including competitors. The main objective of this research is to conduct the relationship between the supply chain management system, project success, project performance, to identify, and to determine the potential impact of SCM on project completion and success. In this study, a random sample was drawn from a population made up exclusively of construction companies, and project departments from other companies in Amman, the capital of Jordan. As a tool for data collection, we chose a questionnaire. Based on this, many statistical analyzes were carried out and the hypotheses of this study were tested. As a result of this test, we found out in general there is a clear and positive relationship between supply chain management and project completion. The dimensions of supply chain management (knowledge, skills, and tools) have different effects on the project closure process. The knowledge dimension has the strongest effect

Conceptual Analysis in the Field of Management

    Get PDF
In the literature on the subject, the terms steering, management and control are often used interchangeably. However, in the course of the terminological analysis, the author indicated the dependencies between these concepts and defined the area of their application. The conducted research allowed for the identification of the concept of command and the area of its influence. The system of command, as a special (specific) form of management, allowed for the presentation of the entirety of the commander's purposeful activity as part of the command system. As a result of the terminological analysis, the author drew attention to the diversity of the analysed concepts, which will allow for their purposeful and proper use in research in the field of social sciences in the disciplines of safety science as well as management and quality science

Electrofusion tensometry applied to the research of engineering structures

    Get PDF
The subject of the article concerns the problem of estimating the location of a slip line in a massif with a vertical retaining wall made of reinforced soil, in which the limit state of active pressure was induced. The task is solved experimentally, on the basis of measured unit strains in the reinforcement inserts, with the use of electrofusion strain gauges. The inserts are located in horizontal layers. The slip curve is formed by the points where the maximum normal stresses occur in the reinforcement inserts. This curve cuts off the fragment wedge that is being sought from the plane of the retaining wall. The slip line divides the area of the massif into two zones: active (splinter wedge) and passive, in which the reinforcement inserts are anchored. The test stand is presented, the technique of measuring the deformation of the reinforcement and the method of estimating the location of the slip surface are discussed

The Analysis of the Level of Implementation of Industry 4.0 Solutions in European Companies

    Get PDF
The new challenges faced by companies in the 21st century require great flexibility and innovation. The fourth industrial revolution drives the development of the global market, and its solutions bring many benefits to companies, e.g. lowering operating costs, increasing the efficiency of information and inventory management, they also give the opportunity to quickly respond to changing customer needs. The study presents selected technologies used by European companies in the era of Industry 4.0 and the analysis of the current state in the context of the level of individual technologies in the EU countries. The analysis concerns large companies and the SME sector

Selected aspects of military logistics support to public administration in eliminating the effects of crisis situations. Part II. Possibilities of Using Engineering Troops in Crisis Situations

    Get PDF
Part I presented the characteristics of non-military crisis situations, including natural threats and technical failures, terrorist threats, hybrid activities and disturbance of public order. The specified crisis situations imply specific actions of the public administration, which carries out its mission on the basis of national and international legal regulations. However, the forces and resources of the civil administration are not always able to provide assistance to all victims of crisis situations, in accordance with the applicable procedures. The implementation of procedures for providing aid and liquidating the effects of crisis situations requires specific, logistically prepared forces and resources. The legal regulations introduced on the basis of experience make it possible to use military forces to provide logistical support to the administration in crisis situations.Hence, in the second part of the article, the authors focused on presenting and familiarizing the reader with the possibility of using the Armed Forces in logistic support of civil administration, with particular emphasis on engineering troops and their support components, prepared to eliminate the effects of crisis situations

One of the basic factors influencing the functioning of production enterprises is the correct inventory management. There are many methods that have been analysed and improved in recent years, but they often differ from company practices. In addition, technological development that allows for production support forces enterprises to take specific actions in the area of warehouses and inventory management. The article presents considerations on selected aspects of inventory management and analyses this element in a selected company. An analysis of the purchases of strategic raw materials in the last months in connection with the invasion of Ukraine and the reduced availability of production materials was also presented
