Pretrial Reform in Indonesia: A Study of Pretrial Hearings at the Sharia Court of Aceh Province
This study aims to examine pretrial as stated in the Code of Criminal Procedure. This study is a normative legal study using a statutory approach and examines dozens of court decisions related to pretrial. Based on the results of this study, it is concluded that the current pretrial institution still has weaknesses, namely unclear procedural law, passive and post factum testing, the application is dropped after the main case is delegated, there is no legal remedy, the examination is only formal-administrative. The main cause of these weaknesses is because the Criminal Procedure Code adheres to the principle of functional differentiation, which strictly divides authority between the criminal justice subsystems. The next conclusion is that the ideal court supervision of criminal justice is a concept of supervision that is in the middle between the interests of the state to enforce the law and the interests of the community whose rights must be guaranteed so that they cannot be arbitrarily taken away. This supervision is carried out by the Commissioner Judge who has the authority to materially test all actions of other criminal justice subsystems from the pre-adjudication stage to the post-adjudication stage. From this research, it is suggested that in the upcoming update of the Criminal Procedure Code, it is necessary to change the design of the criminal justice system from functional differentiation to court centric or centered on the court
Representation of Madurese Local Wisdom in Mudhar Tamim’s Tafsir Qur’anul-Karim Nurul-Huda
This article examines how Madurese local wisdom is represented in Mudhar Tamim’s Tafsir Qur’anul-Karim Nurul-Huda. Scholarship on Madurese tafsir has largely centered on interpretive method, the history of writing, and networks of exegetes, while the representational work of local cultural references has received less attention. Using qualitative library research, this study analyzes the tafsir as the primary source and draws on relevant secondary literature. Stuart Hall’s theory of representation is operationalized through reflective, intentional, and constructionist readings to examine how meaning is produced through language, symbols, and social context. The analysis shows that local wisdom in Nurul Huda appears in tangible and intangible forms. Tangible references draw on material culture and built space, such as totop bhireng (a sheath for a Madurese sickle-like weapon) and tabing (a woven bamboo wall panel). Intangible references include proverbs, value terms such as andap asor (humility and respectful conduct), and socially salient practices and authority relations, including carok (a ritualized honor duel), critiques of taqlid (uncritical imitation), and the figure of lora (often understood locally as the son of a kyai (a religious leader)). Across the tafsir, these local elements function as interpretive resources that make Qur’anic guidance socially legible and ethically persuasive for Madurese readers. The study contributes to discussions of Tafsir Nusantara by showing how representational analysis clarifies the role of local cultural codes in vernacular Qur’anic interpretation
Revitalizing Khilafah fi al-Ard for Sustainable Agriculture: An Ethical-Operational Framework from Quranic Exegesis
Environmental degradation and the stagnation of farmer welfare in rural Indonesia demand a reorientation of the agricultural management paradigm toward one that is not merely technocratic but also ethical-spiritual. This study examines the concept of Khilāfah fī al-Arḍ as an ontological and axiological foundation for sustainable agricultural development through a thematic exegetical study of QS. Al-Baqarah: 30 and QS. Al-An‘ām: 141. Unlike previous studies that predominantly focus on normative environmental ethics, this research specifically synthesizes exegetical analysis into an ethical-operational framework for agronomy. Employing a qualitative-analytical method, this research integrates classical and contemporary exegetical traditions with an analysis of agronomic and socio-economic data regarding the national agrarian crisis of 2024. The findings demonstrate that QS. Al-Baqarah: 30 defines Khilāfah not as exploitative domination but as a mandate of Imārat al-Arḍ (earth stewardship) which requires competence in knowledge (‘ilm) and the prevention of ecological corruption (fasād). Meanwhile, QS. Al-An‘ām: 141 provides guiding principles for agricultural management through biological diversification (polyculture), distributive justice (ḥaqqahu), and input efficiency (lā tusrifū). The synthesis of these two verses generates an “Agricultural Ecotheology” paradigm that positions the farmer as a guardian of ecosystem balance (mīzān) and an agent of social justice. This framework is highly relevant for addressing soil fatigue caused by excessive agrochemicals and structural poverty in rural areas
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOIL-TRANSMITTED HELMINTHS (STH) EGG CONTAMINATION IN YARD SOIL TO HELMINTHIASIS INFECTION IN CHILDREN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN GAMPONG JAWA KUTA RAJA SUB-DISTRICT BANDA ACEH CITY
Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH) are a type of intestinal worm that infects humans through soil contaminated with parasitic worms such as roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), whipworms (Trichuris trichiura), and hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus). STH infections have detrimental effects on children, which can be worrisome for their survival as well as their mental and physical development. Soil is one of the intermediaries for helminthiasis infection because surface soil is a place where worm eggs can survive for a long time. Feces from people with helminthiasis are an important source of soil contamination. This study is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design and purposive sampling technique with 50 elementary school-aged children in Gampong Jawa, Kuta Raja District, Banda Aceh City. Examination of the incidence of worms in children is done by examining feces (Kato-Katz method). The examination of soil samples using the floatation method. The results of the soil examination in this study showed that the soil in the children's yard was polluted by STH eggs by 26% and the soil that was not polluted by STH eggs by 74%. The highest STH contamination was Ascaris lumbricoides eggs at 43.5%. The results of fecal examination in children showed that as many as 10 people (20%) were infected with STH and 40 people (80%) were not infected with STH. Based on the Chi Square statistical test, a p-value of 0.002 was obtained, indicating that there is a significant relationship between soil pollution in the yard by STH and helminthiasis infection in children. This could be caused by factors such as poor personal hygiene and environmental sanitation.
