On Linguistic Phenomena in TV News Programs
This paper is an analysis of sentences which appear in Japanese TV news programs. A lot of sentences used in news programs lack important information. Some of those sentences do not have their predicates. Others lack one or more arguments to which the verb needs to assign θ-roles and thus violate syntactic rules. In some cases, the first sentence of one news story lacks important information, which is revealed in the following context gradually. In other words, some of the most important points are moved rightward in the discourse.
This paper examines the linguistic phenomena and how the missing information is revealed in the news stories. I show that various forms of signs (spoken and written words, aural and visual images, etc.) are used to reveal the missing information in the context. Furthermore, I refer to an example in 1970s and try to show how the linguistic phenomena developed. In the earlier case, the first sentence has all the grammatically required elements but does not state the theme of the story. Starting with cases like this, the linguistic phenomena (moving important points rightward) seem to have developed and led to sentences which lack grammatically required elements.departmental bulletin pape
A Study of Physical Fitness Tests at Hokuriku University
The purpose of this study was to clarify the present conditions of physical fitness at Hokuriku university student based on a physical fitness test. Total of 396 student (male: 237, female: 159), aged from 19 and 20 years, participated in the physical fitness test program. In the results, two main findings were found. 1. Compared with the norm for 18 and 19 years old Japanese university students, the mean scores for all subjects were significantly lower in the side steps, endurance running and handball throw, and significantly higher in the sit and reach (p<0.05). The mean total test score for the subjects were also lower than that in the norm. Generally, the physical fitness levels of the subjects were low. 2. The BMI group comparisons showed that the mean scores were significantly higher in the normal group subjects than low group subjects and high group subjects for most of the test (p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.001). Especially, male of results was significant. These results indicate that the physical fitness level was related to their exercise habits.departmental bulletin pape

Critical-Transcendentalism of Kant’s Philosophy of Law
he purpose of this paper is to interpret and clarify critical/transcendental characteristics presented in Kant’s Rechtslehre (Metaphysical Elements of Justice) and philosophy of law, especially his theory of property. In other words, the systematic position of the book in Kant’s critical philosophy is discussed here. Kant’s Rechtslehre and philosophy of law were conventionally thought to have nothing to do with or even to contradict his critical philosophy; they were negatively treated as marginal in his whole system of critical philosophy. It was generally and strongly believed that Kant’s Rechtslehre and philosophy of law did not fully reflect or, in extreme cases, conflicted with his critical/transcendental method. However, in Germany, the debate over this issue has intensified again since 1970s. In this paper, I intend to examine the recent research situation on this issue here in Japan and look chronologically at the situation of the dispute in German speaking countries.departmental bulletin pape

Investigation on the Degree of Understanding of Biopharmaceuticals (2) Investigation for Insulin
Although remarkable progress has been made in the development and spread of biopharmaceuticals, the lack of establishment of methods for safety assessment remains a problem. A survey on the level of understanding of biopharmaceuticals conducted on pharmacy students at Hokuriku University in 2011 showed that while the level of understanding was insufficient, the level of awareness was the highest for insulin. Therefore, in October and November 2012, a survey regarding the level of understanding of insulin as a biopharmaceutical was conducted on 781 students. The response rate was approximately 70%. The proportion of students who responded that they were aware that insulin was a biopharmaceutical increased with each year. Among fifth-year students, the proportion of students who responded that they had either “known” or “only heard of” this fact was 73%. Among these students, 52% had acquired the knowledge from courses, while 26% had acquired it from practical training. Furthermore, the proportion of students who considered biopharmaceuticals to be necessary in the future increased with each year. Among fifth-year students, the proportion who considered biopharmaceuticals to be necessary in the future was 75%. However, the level of understanding regarding manufacturing methods was low, suggesting the need for cooperation among courses.departmental bulletin pape
The review of the research on Japanese translation teaching method in Chinese universities
This paper analyzes 30 academic papers on the research of Japanese translation teaching method in Chinese universities which are included in CNKI in recent 20 years (1995~2014), and the following four conclusions can be drawn: (1) There are only a small number of papers on Japanese translation teaching method from 1995 to 2009, and its correlated studies have gradually increased from 2010; (2) The depth and breadth of the study is not enough, and the empirical research is so limited; (3) The papers mainly on the translation teaching method are not dominant in numbers; (4) The researchers in the foreign studies universities pay less attention to this field, and there is no correlated paper.departmental bulletin pape

Medication Notebook” is a useful tool in “Pharmacy-Pharmacy Cooperation” between pharmacists in hospitals and pharmacists in pharmacies. However, both the patient and the medical worker do not understand it enough.
In this study, about the name recognition and the portable situation of the medication notebook, we performed the questionnaire for the pharmacy students and a traveler.
Although the student's recognition was high enough, the everyday portable rate was low. Especially, the degree of carrying the medication notebook under travel was 10% or less. In many cases, they saved with the insurance certificate and the patient's registration card and did not fully understand the role of the notebook. On the other hand, 50% of the travelers carried the notebook at the time of a travel, although name recognition was about 40%.
Although the notebook of the electronic edition was being created in Japan now, that to fully argue about a form or the contents is required suggested these results of an investigation.departmental bulletin pape
