A Study on the Distribution and Morphology of Lingual Papillae by in vivo Observation of Lingual Mucosa Using a New Diagnostic Device for Oral Mucoscopy
Get PDFTo investigate the in vivo morphological characteristics of the lingual mucosa, 34 healthy
subjects (17 males and 17 females) between the ages of 19 and 20 were selected. After
obtaining informed consent, macroscopic images of the tongue mucosa and serial images of
the lingual mucosa were obtained using an oral mucoscope. The sequential images were
montaged and simultaneously magnified images of six regions of the tongue mucosa were
acquired. The morphology of the tongue papillae distributed in the mucosa was observed and
compared between males and females. With the tongues of the subjects, not only was there a
difference in the density of distribution of fungiform papillae between the tongue apex and
the central part of the tongue body, but there also seemed to be a clear difference in the shape
and size of the filiform papillae. However, both filiform papillae and fungiform papillae
showed no clear difference in morphology. We were not able to find any clear differences in
morphology, size, or density of distribution between the sexes.departmental bulletin pape

Life with Multiple Mingei: A Study of Contemporary Mingei
Get PDFThis research illustrates the multiple situations where Mingei and other concepts
such as antiques and crafts, loosely connected through SNS, coexist and overlap. In
order to do so, I initially review Mingei studies since their boom in the 1970s and
organize the criticism and reevaluation of them. Through an analysis of Instagram
posts with the hashtag "Mingei," this paper points out a situation in which two or more
things cannot be said to exist separately from each other, rather than the traditional

Effect of time series variations in aroma fragrance on autonomic nervous system －Comparison of responsiveness for young men and women－
Get PDFBackground: Olfactory sensation is closely linked to the autonomic nervous system. In recent
years, stimulation of olfactory sensation through aroma therapy is widely used for prevention
of dementia and alleviation of physical/mental strain in the medical care. However, the
efficacy of the aroma therapy has been evaluated subjectively with lack of well-defined
objective methodologies. In this study, focusing on the gender differences among young adults,
we evaluated physiological responses induced by focused exposure to a variety of aroma
scents.
Methods: Twelve healthy young adults (6 males, 6 females) were enrolled. By use of
stereotactic device, Aroma Shooter®, five typical scents were accurately shot intermittently.
Physiological responses were measured as (1) frequency characteristics of autonomic nerve
(high and low frequencies: HF, LF) by use of a cardiac monitor, and (2) regional saturation of
oxygen (rSO₂) at frontal cortex by use of cerebral oximeter monitoring system, INVOS-5100C,
attached to the forehead.
Results and Discussion: Although the scent of coffee has been reported to stimulate
sympathetic tone (LF/HF), our results showed that, in contrast to males, it rather stimulated
parasympathetic tone (HF) in females (P=0.009). Whereas, the scent of peppermint is
generally known to stimulate sympathetic tone. We confirmed it in males, but the effect was
weak in females (P=0.310). Similarly, in cypress, it acts on the sympathetic nerve in males,
but not in females. No change in the forehead rSO2 of the brain with respect to aroma was
detected, and its usefulness for determining the effect of each aroma was not recognized.
However, the gender difference was clearly significantly higher in males. In addition, both
males and females tended to gradually decline over time, and the effect was greater for
females than for males.
Conclusion: Changes in autonomic nervous tone after exposure to aroma scents tend to differ
between-sexes from one aroma to another.departmental bulletin pape

Text mining analysis of news articles on educator sexual misconduct in Japan (5): Cases of male educators targeting male children and teenagers
Get PDFEducator sexual misconducts are problematic issues also in Japan. To clarify male
educators’ sexual misconducts to male children and teenagers, text mining was
conducted on text data of news articles. Cases of male misconducts to children and
teenagers were 110 of 1311 (8.39%). Further analysis found that their misconduct type
were mainly invasive sexual contacts to children. Discussing their causes, the author
