Mathematical Modeling of Student Learning Outcomes using E-learning-Based Remedial Programs
Research on mathematical modeling of learning outcomes remains limited, despite its potential to evaluate educational processes and inform placement decisions in schools, classes, learning resources, and remedial programs. This quantitative study aims to construct a mathematical model in the form of an ordinary differential equation (ODE) to represent the dynamics of students’ learning in a remedial program. The model is developed using empirical data obtained from multiple-choice diagnostic tests designed to identify common learning difficulties and a series of three remedial assessments conducted after e-learning-based interventions. The dataset includes students’ assessment scores and time records during the remedial learning process. The Nelder–Mead method was used to estimate the model parameters, followed by a stability analysis and an RMSE-based evaluation of the model’s accuracy. The model captures changes in student understanding over time and reveals that students with lower initial scores tend to show greater improvements through remedial programs. However, as the duration of the remedial program increases, the rate of score improvement decreases—suggesting a decline in student focus and learning efficiency over time. These findings highlight the nonlinear nature of learning progress in remedial program. The model provides for predicting student outcomes and analyzing the effectiveness of remedial programs. It offers practical implications for optimizing the structure and timing of remedial programs and can support the development of adaptive learning systems tailored to student needs. This research demonstrates the potential of mathematical modeling for decision-making in education.
Mathematics in Transition: Assessing the Impact of Curriculum Changes on Student Performance Metrics
Curriculum changes in higher education, especially in mathematics, are intended to align academic content with scientific advancements and evolving workforce demands; however, such reforms often bring unintended academic challenges for students. In Indonesia, recent changes in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 mathematics curricula introduced shifts in course credit allocations, course learning outcomes (CLOs), material scope, instructional methods, and evaluation systems. This study specifically aims to evaluate the impact of these curriculum changes on student academic performance across five core mathematics courses: Introduction to Data Science, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Linear Algebra, and Mathematical Statistics. Employing a quantitative, exploratory approach, the research analyses academic records from 586 students using descriptive statistics and visualisation techniques such as boxplots and bar-line charts. The findings reveal fluctuating average grades and a general decline in pass rates, particularly under the 2024 curriculum, which introduced more complex CLOs, deeper content coverage, and application-oriented assessments. These results highlight the urgent need to balance curriculum innovation with student readiness and provide valuable insights for curriculum development and educational policy planning.
Analysis of Online Game Addiction with Crowley-Martin Incident Rate Function
This study aims to build and analyze a new mathematical model of online game addiction with the Crowley-Martin type incidence rate function approach. This research is categorized as a theoretical-quantitative study using mathematical modeling as its primary approach. The research instruments used include symbolic computation, simulation software, and parameter estimation techniques derived from literature. Stability analysis is conducted through Jacobian linearization, the Routh-Hurwitz criterion, and the Next Generation Matrix method to calculate the basic reproduction number. Optimal control is formulated using Pontryagin’s Minimum Principle with two strategies: parental guidance and counseling therapy. Data analysis combines analytical techniques in stability and control theory with numerical simulations to evaluate the system. The results show that: The addiction-free fixed point T_0 is locally asymptotically stable if R_01. Numerical simulations demonstrate that combined control strategies effectively reduce the number of exposed and addicted individuals
PEMANFAATAN SAMPAH ORGANIK RUMAH TANGGA SEBAGAI PUPUK ORGANIK BERNUTRISI MENGGUNAKAN ALAT COPPER MANUAL DENGAN METODE VERMICOMPOST
Abstrak: Kota Surabaya memiliki jumlah penduduk 2,9 juta jiwa dan terus mengalami peningkatan setiap tahunnya. Sejalan dengan hal tersebut, volume sampah yang dihasilkan mencapai 2.913 ton perhari. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan adanya pemanfaatan dari sampah guna mengurangi volume sampah yang setiap tahunnya mengalami peningkatan. Salah satu upaya yang bisa dilakukan yaitu dengan memanfaatkan sampah menjadi pupuk organik bernutrisi. Tujuan penyuluhan yaitu memberikan wawasan bagaimana memanfaatkan sampah organik rumah tangga menjadi pupuk organik bernutrisi dengan metode vermicompost. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan penyuluhan secara langsung didepan warga Kelurahan Medokan Semampir Kota Surabaya yang dihadiri sebanyak 30 orang. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pre test dan post test berkaitan dengan pengetahuan dan pemahaman terhadap proses pembuatan pupuk organik menggunakan copper manual dengan metode vermicompost. Hasil pre test dan post test menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman warga sebesar 71% menjadi 97%. Diharapkan dengan adanya kegiatan ini warga dapat memanfaatkan sampah organik rumah tangga sehingga dapat mengurangi volume sampah di Kota Surabaya.Abstract: The city of Surabaya has a population of 2.9 million people and continues to increase every year. In line with this, the volume of waste produced reaches 2,913 tons daily. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize waste to reduce the volume of waste which increases every year. One effort that can be made is to utilize waste into nutritious organic fertilizer. The purpose of the counseling is to provide insight into how to utilize household organic waste into nutritious organic fertilizer using the vermicompost method. The implementation method is direct counseling in front of residents of Medokan Semampir Village, Surabaya City, which was attended by 30 people. The evaluation was carried out using a pre-test and post-test related to insight and understanding of the process of making organic fertilizer using manual copper with the vermicompost method. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed an increase in residents' insight and understanding 75% to 97%. It is hoped that with this activity, residents can utilize household organic waste so that they can reduce the volume of waste in the city of Surabaya
PELATIHAN DAN SOSIALISASI ALAT DEGRADATOR FOTOKATALITIK LIMBAH ZAT PEWARNA PUSAT KERAJINAN BATIK SHAHO BALIKPAPAN
Abstrak: Provinsi Kalimantan Timur dikenal tidak hanya karena kekayaan alamnya, tetapi juga keragaman seni rupanya, seperti Batik Shaho dari Balikpapan yang menjadi identitas budaya lokal. Berdasarkan hasil observasi tim pengabdian masyarakat, dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, produsen Batik Shaho beralih dari pewarna alami ke sintetis seperti remasol dan naphtol demi efisiensi, meskipun bahan tersebut bersifat genotoksik, karsinogenik, dan tergolong limbah B3. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah mengusung konsep pendampingan yang berkelanjutan dengan memberikan pemahaman dan keterampilan baru bagi mitra Batik Shaho dalam menggunakan alat degradator fotokatalitik limbah zat pewarna kain batik. Pendampingan ini difokuskan pada pelatihan dan sosialisasi pengunaan alat degradator zat pewarna kain batik yang diharapkan dapat membantu para perajin dalam menangani buangan limbah zat pewarna. Mempertimbangkan efisiensi penanganan limbah di wilayah mitra masih terbatas, tim pengabdian masyarakat ITK mengusulkan diseminasi teknologi dekolorator. Alat ini dilengkapi sensor degradasi real-time, material aktif TiO₂ berkinerja tinggi, dan lampu UV untuk mendukung proses dekolorisasi limbah pewarna. Sistem ini dirancang terintegrasi dan diharapkan mampu memberikan dampak signifikan dalam pengelolaan limbah zat pewarna. Inisiatif ini menjadi bagian dari upaya nyata untuk mewujudkan Gerakan peduli lingkungan melalui penerapan teknologi ramah lingkungan dan berkelanjutan. Indikator keberhasilan kegiatan ini dibuktikan melalui pengumpulan data sebanyak 25 responden peserta pelatihan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi kuesioner, lebih dari 90% peserta meraih skor rata-rata di atas 80. Hal tersebut mengindikasikan efektivitas pelatihan yang diselenggarakan dalam meningkatkan kompetensi dan pengetahuan para peserta, khususnya terkait pengelolaan limbah warna kain menggunakan teknologi degradator fotokatalitik.Abstract: East Kalimantan Province is known not only for its natural wealth, but also for its diverse fine arts, such as Batik Shaho from Balikpapan which is a local cultural identity. Based on the results of observations by the community service team, in recent years, Batik Shaho producers have switched from natural to synthetic dyes such as remasol and naphtol for efficiency, even though these materials are genotoxic, carcinogenic, and classified as B3 waste. The purpose of this community service is to carry the concept of sustainable assistance by providing new understanding and skills for Batik Shaho partners in using a photocatalytic degrader for batik fabric dye waste. This assistance focuses on training and socialization of the use of a batik fabric dye degrader which is expected to help craftsmen in handling dye waste. Considering that the efficiency of waste handling in partner areas is still limited, the ITK community service team proposed the dissemination of decolorizer technology. This tool is equipped with a real-time degradation sensor, high-performance TiO₂ active material, and UV lamps to support the dye waste decolorization process. This system is designed to be integrated and is expected to have a significant impact on dye waste management. This initiative is part of a real effort to realize the Environmental Care Movement through the application of environmentally friendly and sustainable technology. The indicator of the success of this activity is proven through the collection of data from 25 training participant respondents. Based on the results of the questionnaire evaluation, more than 90% of participants achieved an average score above 80. This indicates the effectiveness of the training held in improving the competence and knowledge of participants, especially related to the management of fabric color waste using photocatalytic technology
SOSIALISASI INFORMASI NILAI GIZI SEBAGAI UPAYA MENINGKATKAN PENGETAHUAN IKM JAWA BARAT
Abstrak: Informasi nilai gizi pada produk pangan merupakan elemen penting yang mendukung transparansi, keamanan pangan, dan peningkatan daya saing produk IKM di pasar modern. Namun, mayoritas pelaku Industri Kecil dan Menengah (IKM) di Jawa Barat belum memiliki pemahaman maupun keterampilan teknis dalam menyusun label informasi nilai gizi secara mandiri. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pelaku IKM melalui sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan workshop penyusunan label informasi nilai gizi berbasis perhitungan komposisi bahan pangan. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup penyuluhan, simulasi, dan pendampingan langsung, yang dilakukan oleh tim Universitas Padjadjaran dan Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Jawa Barat (Indag Jabar) kepada mitra yaitu IKM Jawa Barat sebanyak 50 IKM. Hasil evaluasi observasi menunjukkan bahwa partisipasi dalam diskusi tergolong sangat tinggi (3,6/4), aspek simulasi penyusunan label gizi cukup tinggi (3,1/4), kemandirian teknis sedang (2,6/4), aspek respon terhadap umpan balik tinggi (3,4/4), dan kemampuan menggunakan alat bantu sederhana sedang (2,8/4). Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan edukatif dan aplikatif secara langsung mampu membekali pelaku IKM dengan keterampilan praktis yang relevan dan bermanfaat. Sebagai tindak lanjut, direkomendasikan adanya pendampingan berkelanjutan untuk memperluas dampak kegiatan ini.Abstract: Nutrition fact on food products is a crucial element that supports transparency, food safety, and enhances the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in modern markets. However, the majority of SME actors in West Java still lack the understanding and technical skills to independently create nutrition fact labels. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of SME actors through socialization, training, and workshops on preparing nutrition fact labels based on the calculation of food composition. The implementation method included counselling, simulation, and direct mentoring conducted by the team from Universitas Padjadjaran in collaboration with the West Java Office of Industry and Trade to partners, namely 50 West Java IKM. The results of the observational evaluation showed that participation in discussions was categorized as very high (3.6/4), the aspect of nutrition fact simulation was quite high (3.1/4), technical independence was low (2.6/4), responsiveness to feedback was high (3.4/4), and the ability to use simple tools was moderate (2.8/4). This activity demonstrated that an educational and practical approach can effectively equip SME actors with relevant and applicable practical skills. As a follow-up continued mentoring is recommended to broaden the impact of this program
PELATIHAN PENGENALAN BAHASA ISYARAT DALAM INTERAKSI SETARA MELALUI BUDAYA INKLUSIF DI KOTA SAMARINDA
Abstrak: Jumlah gangguan pendengaran menurut data WHO menunjukan lebih dari 1,5 miliar orang atau hampir 20 persen dari populasi global. Kendala komunikasi terjadi pada proses interaksi Teman Tuli karena masyarakat umumnya kurang menyadari dan memahami penggunaan bahasa isyarat. Bahasa adalah alat komunikasi, melalui bahasa isyarat Teman Tuli dapat berkomunikasi untuk mengungkapkan pikiran, informasi dan perasaannya. Selain itu, Teman Tuli memperoleh akses pendidikan dan kesempatan kerja yang sama. Fenomena ini menjadi latar belakang terselenggaranya kegiatan pelatihan pengenalan bahasa isyarat bertema Sign Language Unite Us “Kita Setara: Mengenal dan Belajar Bahasa Isyarat” bagi masyarakat umum di Kota Samarinda. Peserta berjumlah 50 orang dan mitra kegiatan berkolaborasi dengan komunitas IKAT (Komunitas Ikatan Kebersamaan Anak Tuli Samarinda). Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, pemahaman dan penggunaan bahasa isyarat Indonesia, sehingga tercipta masyarakat yang lebih inklusif dan setara. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan adalah seminar dan pelatihan praktik bahasa isyarat untuk interaksi sehari-hari. Berdasarkan evaluasi yang dilakukan melalui wawancara dan obervasi hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukan peningkatan pengetahuan dan softskill komunikasi menggunaan bahasa isyarat sebesar 50 persen. Perlu peningkatan praktik sehari-hari dan konsistensi penggunaan bahasa isyarat sehingga terwujud interaksi yang setara dan inklusif.Abstract: According to World Health Organization (WHO) data, over 1.5 billion people, or nearly 20% of the global population, experience some degree of hearing loss. Communication barriers frequently arise in interactions involving the Deaf community due to a general lack of public awareness and understanding of sign language. As a tool for communication, sign language enables Deaf individuals to express their thoughts, emotions, and share information, as well as to access education and employment opportunities on an equal footing. This context provided the basis for a community service initiative in Samarinda City, entitled “Sign Language Unite Us: We Are Equal – Understanding and Learning Sign Language,” aimed at introducing sign language to the general public. The program involved 50 participants and was carried out in collaboration with IKAT (Ikatan Kebersamaan Anak Tuli Samarinda), a local Deaf community organization. The primary objective of this initiative was to increase public knowledge, understanding, and usage of Indonesian Sign Language, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable society. The method implemented included a seminar and hands-on training in basic sign language for everyday interactions. Evaluation conducted through interviews and participant observations indicated a 50% improvement in sign language knowledge and communication soft skills among participants. These findings highlight the need for sustained practice and consistent application of sign language to realize inclusive and equal communication in daily life
EDUKASI DAN PELATIHAN PRODUK AROMATERAPI BAGI SISWA SMK UNTUK PRODUK TEACHING FACTORY
Abstrak: Tingginya pasar aromaterapi global diperkirakan mencapai USD 9.211,7 juta pada tahun 2024 dan diproyeksikan tumbuh pada Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) sebesar 8,9% dari tahun 2025 hingga 2030, hal tersebut mendorong konsep pembelajaran teaching factory sekolah vokasi yang berorientasi pada produksi dan bisnis untuk menjawab tantangan perkembangan industry bagi sekolah kesehatan. Permasalahan sekolah dibutuhkan kemitraan dengan perguruan tinggi yang mampu mendorong berkembangnya konsep pembelajaran tersebut, dimana tujuan pengabdian ini untuk meningkatkan soft-skill dan hard-skill bagi siswa dan guru dalam mewujudkan teaching factory. Metode kegiatan ini menggunakan beberapa tahapan yaitu koordinasi, materi, praktikum dan evaluasi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini diikuti oleh 50 siswa sebagai peserta dan 3 guru SMK Amanah Husada Pemalang sebagai pendamping berjalan dengan baik dan antusias, dimana hasil umpan balik pre-test dan post-test, menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta sebesar 30%. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian tersebut menunjukkan adanya peningkatan interprestasi tinggi dengan nilai ≥90.Abstract: The global aromatherapy market is projected to reach USD 9,211.7 million in 2024 and is expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 8.9% from 2025 to 2030. This trend encourages the implementation of teaching factory-based learning, which focuses on production and business, as a response to industry developments, particularly in health-related schools. One of the challenges faced by vocational schools is the need for partnerships with higher education institutions that can support the development of such learning models. This community service activity aims where the aim of this service is to improve soft skills and hard skills for students and teachers in realizing a teaching factory. The activity involved several stages: coordination, material delivery, practical sessions, and evaluation. A total of 50 students as a participant and 3 teachers from SMK Amanah Husada Pemalang as a companion participated enthusiastically in this program. Based on the feedback from pre-test and post-test results, there was a 30% increase in participants’ understanding. The outcome of this activity demonstrated a high level of interpretation, with scores reaching ≥90
ALIH TEKNOLOGI PEMBUATAN PUPUK ORGANIK ASAL LIMBAH RUMAH TANGGA MENGGUNAKAN KERANJANG TAKAKURA
Abstrak: Sampah organik menyumbang 60% dari total sampah di pembuangan akhir. Sampah organik memiliki potensi besar untuk diolah menjadi produk yang bermanfaat, misalnya kompos. Pengelolaan sampah organik yang tepat dapat menjadi solusi efektif untuk mengurangi volume sampah sekaligus mendukung upaya pelestarian lingkungan. Solusi yang diterapkan adalah mengolah sampah organik menggunakan keranjang Takakura yang dapat dilakukan dan diterapkan di rumah warga. Pengabdian bertujuan untuk memberi pengetahuan mengenai pembuatan dan pemanfaatan pupuk organik berbasis limbah rumah tangga menggunakan keranjang Takakura kepada 30 peserta yang merupakan anggota dari Bank Sampah Muria Berseri. Metode pelaksaan kegiatan ini dibagi menjadi lima tahap yaitu: (1) Pre-test wawasan peserta (2) sosialisasi dan demonstrasi penggunaan keranjang Takakura, (3) pendampingan praktik pembuatan pupuk, (4) post-test wawasan peserta dan (5) monitoring hasil fermentasi pupuk selama 21 hari. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dengan pemanfaatan keranjang Takakura berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan anggota bank sampah dalam mengolah sampah organik dari rumah tangga menjadi pupuk organik hingga 30%.Abstract: Organic waste accounts for 60% of the total waste in landfills. Organic waste actually has great potential to be processed into useful products, such as compost. Therefore, proper organic waste management can be an effective solution to reduce waste volume while supporting environmental conservation efforts. One of the solutions offered is to process organic waste is by using Takakura baskets that can be done and applied in people's homes. This community service activity aims to provide knowledge about the manufacture and utilization of household waste-based organic fertilizer using Takakura baskets to participants who are members of the Muria Berseri Waste Bank. The method of implementing this activity is divided into five stages, namely: (1) Pre-test of participants' insights (2) socialization and demonstration of the use of Takakura baskets, (3) assistance in fertilizer making practices, (4) post-test of participants' insights and (5) monitoring the results of fertilizer fermentation for 21 days. Community service activities with the use of Takakura baskets have succeeded in increasing the understanding and skills of waste bank members in processing household organic waste into organic fertilizer by 30%
MODEL PEMBERDAYAAN SANTRI MENUJU KEMANDIRIAN EKONOMI PESANTREN MELALUI PELATIHAN PRODUK LAUNDRY
Abstrak: Kemandirian ekonomi pesantren merupakan tantangan sekaligus peluang dalam pengembangan potensi santri. Pesantren Asy-Syarifah Mranggen, Demak, memiliki keterbatasan dalam aspek kewirausahaan dan penguatan ekonomi produktif. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan santri melalui pelatihan produksi dan pemasaran produk laundry seperti detergen cair, pewangi, dan pelembut pakaian. Kegiatan dilaksanakan oleh tim pengabdian Universitas Islam Negeri Walisongo Semarang dengan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) melalui enam tahapan: identifikasi masalah, diskusi, perencanaan, sosialisasi, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Sebanyak 22 santri dilibatkan secara aktif dalam pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan santri dalam memproduksi serta memasarkan produk laundry secara mandiri. Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner, sebanyak 85% peserta menyatakan telah menguasai dengan baik proses pembuatan produk laundry, sementara sekitar 75% peserta memahami strategi pemasaran seperti analisis pasar dan cara menjangkau konsumen secara tepat. Capaian ini menunjukkan bahwa program pelatihan memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap penguatan kapasitas santri dan menjadi langkah awal yang menjanjikan dalam mewujudkan kemandirian ekonomi pesantren secara berkelanjutan.Kemandirian ekonomi pesantren merupakan tantangan sekaligus peluang dalam pengembangan potensi santri. Program ini menjadi langkah awal menuju kemandirian ekonomi pesantren secara berkelanjutan.Abstract: The economic independence of Islamic boarding schools is both a challenge and an opportunity in developing the potential of students. Asy-Syarifah Islamic Boarding School Mranggen, Demak, has limitations in terms of entrepreneurship and strengthening the productive economy. This community service activity aims to empower students through training in the production and marketing of laundry products such as liquid detergent, fragrances, and fabric softeners. The activity was carried out by the community service team of Walisongo State Islamic University Semarang using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through six stages: problem identification, discussion, planning, socialization, implementation, and evaluation. A total of 22 students were actively involved in the training. The results of the activity showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of students in producing and marketing laundry products independently. Based on the results of the questionnaire, 85% of participants stated that they had mastered the process of making laundry products well, while around 75% of participants understood marketing strategies such as market analysis and how to reach consumers appropriately. This achievement shows that the training program has made a real contribution to strengthening the capacity of students and is a promising initial step in realizing the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools in a sustainable manner
