    Get PDF
While the cross national comparative analysis of mathematics textbooks is an expanding field of research, a dedicated bibliometric mapping to identify research gaps and provide clear directions for future inquiry is notably absent. Therefore, this study aims to provide a bibliometric analysis that maps publication trends, identifies the most influential authors and documents, and delineates research gaps to offer clear signposts for future research. The methodology involves a qualitative analysis and mapping of data retrieved from the Scopus database for the period 2010–2024. Following a screening process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, a final corpus of 89 papers was selected for synthesis in this study. The analysis software, VOSviewer, was employed for keyword co-occurrence and co-citation mapping, supplemented by distribution diagrams for trend analysis. Four main findings emerged: first, there has been a significant and increasingly multidisciplinary growth in publications. Second, a thematic evolution is observed, shifting from structural reviews towards more complex evaluative approaches focused on cognitive load and learning implications. Third, research gaps were identified concerning the linguistic presentation of mathematical concepts and the inclusion of social values. Finally, the analysis highlights the most influential authors and articles in the field. Implications of this study are expected to serve as a compass for researchers, guiding them toward achieving novelty in future comparative analyses of mathematics textbooks.

Hotel Transylvania 3 “A Monster Vacation” Movie: Exploring Dialogue and Emotional Literacy

    Get PDF
This qualitative study employed content analysis to classify and critically interpret the illocutionary acts in the animated film Hotel Transylvania 3: "Summer Vacation". Based on Searle's taxonomy applied to 65 utterances, Expressive acts were found to be overwhelmingly dominant at 43%, indicating that the dialogue prioritizes relational and emotional work over purely transactional exchange. This high frequency is interpreted as an active strategy for interactional achievement, as explained by Haugh and Culpeper's theory, essential for managing interpersonal bonds within the narrative. The study's primary contribution lies in its conceptual synthesis, integrating Searle's classical classification with contemporary critical theoretical tools (Haugh, Culpeper, Trosborg) to provide a more comprehensive and critically assessed understanding of pragmatic function in cinematic discourse. Theoretically, this work supports the move toward dynamic, interactional pragmatics by demonstrating the limitations of static taxonomies in analyzing media discourse. In practice, the findings offer valuable insights for language educators and media producers on how animated film dialogue explicitly models complex relational communication and emotional literacy

In the current era of globalization and technological development, the world of education has entered a period known as the 5.0 era, where technology is not only a tool but also an integral part of human life, including the learning process. In the world of education, technology should be utilized to improve the quality of learning. Quality learning will make it easier for students to achieve their learning objectives. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the influence of digital comics on the short story writing skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Gedangan. The method used was a quantitative experiment, one group pretest-posttest design, with a sample size of 15 students. Data analysis was performed using a t-test, and the results showed a sig. value (2-tailed) of 0.000 in the one-sample t-test. The sig. value of 0.000 is less than 0.05, meaning that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of digital comic media in teaching short story writing skills to fifth-grade students at SDN Gedangan has improved their skills. The results obtained after conducting the study indicate that digital media tailored to students' needs can serve as a new innovation in classroom learning and foster creative ideas among students

    No full text
This study aims to identify the types and the meaning of grammatical cohesive devices in students’ recount texts. The object of the study was 26 recount texts written by tenth-grade students. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed using qualitative content analysis as proposed by Mayring (2014), involving categorization, abstraction, and coding based on Halliday and Hasan’s cohesion framework. The analysis revealed 590 instances of grammatical cohesive devices. Reference was the most frequently used, occurring 460 times, indicating students’ strong dependence on personal and demonstrative references to maintain coherence. Conjunctions were the second most common, with 129 instances, demonstrating their role in connecting events and ideas. Substitution appeared only once, while ellipsis was not found in any of the texts. The study concludes that reference and conjunction are the dominant cohesive devices used by students in constructing recount texts, helping to maintain the logical flow and coherence of their narratives. The rare use of substitution and the absence of ellipsis suggest these forms are less familiar to students and require further instructional emphasis. This analysis highlights the importance of grammatical cohesion in supporting the clarity and unity of student writing
