Structural and Microstructural Characterization of Zirconium Phosphates Prepared by Mechanochemical Synthesis

    No full text
Layered α-type zirconium phosphate (ZrP) was prepared by mechanochemical synthesis by using a planetary ball mill, in the absence of solvents. The reagents, a zirconyl organic salt and phosphoric acid (H3PO4/Zr molar ratio = 4), are mixed in an agate jar for different times, from 15 to 60 min. Additional syntheses are performed by adding oxalic acid to the reagents’ mixture. The powder samples obtained by ball milling (BM samples) are characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric, scanning electron microscopy analyses, as well as31P MAS NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. Structural and microstructural parameters (unit cell parameters, unit cell volume, crystallite size, and amount of amorphous fraction) of the BM samples are compared with those of ZrP samples prepared by sol–gel and hydrothermal methods. The best results were obtained with a grinding time of 45 min, in the presence of oxalic acid (oxalic acid/Zr molar ratio = 0.2). Ball milling promotes the formation of single nanocrystals with larger unit cell parameters, especially along the layer packing direction (c axis), with respect to the ZrP samples prepared by hydrothermal synthesis, which, on the contrary, favors the formation of micrometric multidomain crystals

PREDICTIVE BRCA GENETIC TESTING IN ITALIAN PATIENTS WITH BREAST CANCER: A POSITION PAPER OF ITALIAN SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES [Italian Association of Medical Oncology(AIOM); Italian Association of Radiotherapy and Clinical Oncology (AIRO); Italian National Association of Breast Surgeons (ANISC); Italian Society of Pathological Anatomy and Diagnostic Cytology (SIAPeC-IAP); Italian Society of Surgical Oncology (SICO); Italian Society of Human Genetic (SIGU); Italian Society of General Practice (SIMG); Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM)]

The introduction of Poly (ADP-ribose) Polymerase (PARP) inhibitors in both metastatic and early-stage breast cancer (BC) treatment has led to the emergence of Mainstreaming Cancer Genetics (MCG) as a new approach to genetic counselling, predictive of therapy outcomes. Therefore, the BRCA testing criteria for therapeutic purposes require further implementation. This position paper outlines the Italian indications for predictive genetic testing, approved by a multidisciplinary Expert Panel representing major scientific societies involved in BC treatment in Italy. We utilized the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach, and framed clinical questions as population, intervention, comparison and outcome (PICO). The final recommendations were determined through a voting process, covering key topics such as eligibility criteria for onco-genetic counselling, the role of contralateral prophylactic mastectomy (CPM) in patients harboring BRCA1/2 germline pathogenic variants (gPV), and the positioning of predictive BRCA1/2 test. As results, the Expert Panel defined three distinct patient groups eligible for onco-genetic counselling, based on the a priori likelihood of carrying a gPV and the purpose of testing (predictive vs preventive). A conditional recommendation in favor of CPM in patients with a history of surgically treated BC and a BRCA gPV was suggested. Finally, a multidisciplinary pathway for BRCA testing was proposed, for patients with triple negative and hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/HER2-negative (HER2−) BC. In conclusion, the predictive BRCA testing inside the onco-genetic framework marks an important step-forward in BC management. However, the integration of somatic testing, digital pathology, and artificial intelligence-driven models could refine patient selection for tailored treatments

Primary and middle school students' views on inclusive physical education: Perceptions, practices, and future directions

Background: Physical Education (PE) classes are vital for nurturing students' social development and promoting collaboration. This study examined how primary and middle school students perceived PE classes, with a focus on collaboration, well-being and enjoyment, teacher behavior, the inclusion of nondisabled and disabled students, and general class behavior. Methods: One-hundred and seventy students (24 primary school and 146 middle school students) were surveyed using a questionnaire. Results: Exploratory Factor Analysis identified seven factors including: well-being, activities for all students, teacher-oriented behavior, collaboration, and attention to students with disabilities. Linear regressions on each identified Factor revealed higher well-being (Factor 1) between primary and middle school students. In addition, the perceived well-being in PE classes and staying together with classmates among younger middle school students was found to be higher than that reported by their older counterparts in middle school. The analysis also revealed that males perceived a higher well-being in PE classes than females. Conclusion: The research underscores that primary and especially middle school PE teachers should promote the well-being of students by creating inclusive and enjoyable PE classes. The PE classes should consider the differences between sexes and the individual differences. Finally, this research lays the foundation for future investigations to refine inclusive PE strategies and improve students' well-being

Tra décentralisation e tutelle: uno spazio ridotto per i poteri sostitutivi nell’ordinamento francese

    No full text
In the French legal system, there is very little scope for the exercise of substitute powers. This is the consequence of a secular event that saw the affirmation, within a traditionally centralized administrative culture, of a political culture of recognition of territorial identities. The result has been the definition of relations between State and local authorities in terms of a guardianship control that, due to its characteristics, prevents a broad recognition of substitutive powers

    La devianza

    No full text
