Towards Metacognitive Development through Simulation in Teacher Education
Several studies have collected the voices of prospective teachers regarding their lack of metacognitive knowledge about problem-solving strategies. Although the practicum has long been the official procedure for pre-service teachers to learn and practice classroom teaching, it has been demonstrated that it does not always guarantee success in terms of safe practice experiences, repetition possibilities, feedback and reflection necessary for them to gain adequate knowledge and assertiveness in decision-making. The identification of strengths and weaknesses of one’s own learning process should be a cornerstone of any educational context (Daniel et al, 2005). The virtues of simulation in education have been described at length. However, it still seems there is a long way to consider it a central part in pre-teacher practice. A qualitative study was conducted to examine three consecutive years of final reports by all pre-service teachers who have followed a teacher training module framed under simulation methodology. Results revealed three interrelated areas within the simulation context that led to the development of metacognition: the valley of despair, affective involvement and the more knowledgeable other. Pre-service teachers had high metacognitive awareness of their ability to tackle the problems posed in the scenario. Pre-service teachers’ realisation of what they could do and their limitations were the starting point for the metacognitive development based on the simulation. The learning gain extended far beyond the content. It also included affect regulation and the valley of uncertainty, re-oriented through the presence of the more knowledgeable other, with whom there was interaction and dialogue. This study adds value to the literature thanks to the collaborative nature of the pedagogical proposal. This proposal brought together academics, in-service teachers and pre- service teachers through interaction in a simulation.
Ipatasertib (IPA) combined with non-taxane chemotherapy (CT) for patients (pts) with previously treated advanced triple-negative breast cancer (aTNBC): The PATHFINDER phase IIa trial
New therapies are urgently needed for aTNBC. The PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway and its link to chemoresistance warrant further investigation in pre-treated TNBC patients. The pan-AKT inhibitor IPA, alone or combined, has shown promise for treating advanced solid tumors. This study assessed the toxicity and efficacy of IPA with non-taxane CT in aTNBC pts.Medicin
Renaissance values and spirituality in the Guarino school of Verona
The article examines humanism in the 15th century, with a partic-
ular focus on the presence of Christian values. The study focuses on Guarino
da Verona’s school in Ferrara, a pivotal institution that educated numerous
humanists. The analysis explores Guarino’s pedagogical vision, his educational
priorities and, in particular, the impact of his teachings among three outstanding
students: Battista Guarino, Ludovico Carbone and Janus Pannonius. Taking the latter as an example, Elegy 30 is examined in light of Pannonius’ reflections
on the soul. The article concludes that Guarino da Verona’s school played a
central role in promoting Renaissance values that require further understanding.Humanidade

elucidated. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between body posture and
occlusion in patients with and without dental pathology. A cross-sectional study was carried out
with 29 patients divided into a control group and a group with pathology (malocclusions). Body
posture was evaluated by dynamic baropodometry, analyzing parameters such as the line of gait
and the anteroposterior and lateral position of the center of pressure (CoP). Occlusion was classified
radiographically according to the sagittal skeletal relationship. Results showed significant differences
in mean position phase line between groups (p = 0.01–0.02), with means of 115.85 ± 16.98 mm vs.
95.74 ± 24.47 mm (left side) and 109.03 ± 18.03 mm vs. 91.23 ± 20.80 mm (right side) for controls
and pathologies, respectively. The effect size was large (Cohen’s d 0.97 and 0.92). There were no
differences in the anteroposterior (p = 0.38) or lateral (p = 0.78) position of the CoP. In gait analysis,
significant differences were observed in left (548.89 ± 127.50 N vs. 360.15 ± 125.78 N, p < 0.001) and
right (535.71 ± 131.57 N vs. 342.70 ± 108.40 N, p < 0.001) maximum heel strength between groups.
The results suggest an association between body posture and occlusion, although further studies are
needed to confirm this relationship. An integrated postural and occlusal approach could optimize
the diagnosis and treatment of dental patients.Odontologí
Accessibility of information and accessibility information: perceptions of people with disability on tourism services
The article presents a qualitative study based on focus groups, whose main objective is to analyze the perceptions that different groups of people with disabilities have regarding the products and services offered by companies in the tourism sector, with emphasis on the images they project, the accessibility information they transmit and the communication and provision of services once the person is at the destination. The results point to the need for a systemic, integral and structural change in the sector that takes into account the intrinsic diversity of citizens.Educació

and agreed to the published version of the manuscript.Recent studies have highlighted the potential role of a short lingual frenulum as a risk factor for pediatric obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. A shortened frenulum may contribute to abnormal orofacial development, leading to increased
upper airway resistance and susceptibility to upper airway collapsibility during sleep. Recognizing early indicators, such as
a short lingual frenulum, is crucial for prompt intervention. This systematic review aims to evaluate the association between
a short lingual frenulum and the risk of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in children.Medicin
Are Our Schools Carrying Out Effective Environmental Education? In-Service and Pre-Service Teachers’ Perceptions
Faced with the environmental challenges facing today’s society, it is necessary to form
critical, conscious, committed and competent citizens that can take action. Children represent, at
the same time, the need for care and hope for a better and more sustainable world. The school is
the ideal place to carry out this training. All citizens pass through school for many years and many
hours a day. Everything in the school is designed to teach people how to learn and live together: the
people who work there, the infrastructure, the rules, the resources and the opportunities to share daily
actions. But are schools prepared to carry out effective environmental education? Several reasons
have been pointed out as potential explanations of the lack of awareness and sustainable behavior
observed in a large part of the population. Surely, one of the most important is the lack of adequate
organization, which leads to a lack of long-term planning, of people in charge, or of an evaluation and
communication of the results. In this paper, we present a study on environmental education carried
out in a group of Early Childhood and Elementary education schools using structured interviews
conducted by students of the Catholic University of Valencia San Vicente Mártir. The results obtained
are congruent with the contributions made by previous studies, which have highlighted the lack
of coherence between training, attitudes and teaching practices. The conclusions drawn seem to
indicate that, although practicing teachers are aware of the importance of the subject, the presence of
environmental policies in the school and the implementation of good educational action are far from
being considered optimal, given the current need for them.
