Celiac disease is a type of gluten intolerance in which the immune system is involved. Most cases of the
disease are undiagnosed, so the detection and quantification of gluten in food is essential to ensure food
safety. Currently there are several analytical techniques for this detection, which, depending on the type
of food according to the treatment they receive, are more specific.
The literature search was carried out through PubMed and Sciencedirect, covering publications from
2000 to 2024. Key terms in English such as "gluten detection and food industry" were used and the
search was expanded with specific terms. Both inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to narrow
the number of articles of interest.
Among the techniques for detecting allergens in food, ELISA is the most common, but its variability
drives the development of other techniques, whose effectiveness depends on the type of food to be
detected, being flow cytometry more useful in raw foods and mass spectrometry with liquid
chromatography in processed foods. Biosensors are promising for both, but are still under developmentVeterinari
Finanzas colaborativas
Cow’s Milk‑related Symptom Score (CoMiSS) values in presumed healthy European infants aged 6–12 months: a cross‑sectional study
MJ conducted all analyses and assumed the main
responsibility for the writing of the first draft of the manuscript. MJ,
FA, KB, MECR, CRK, RP, SS, and AS collected the data. All authors
critically revised it for important intellectual content and provided
final approval of the version to be submitted for publication. HS is
the guarantor. The Cow’s Milk-related Symptom Score (CoMiSS) is an awareness tool for evaluating cow’s milk-related symptoms. Previous studies have focused on providing CoMiSS values for healthy and symptomatic infants aged 0–6 months. However,
there is a notable gap in the literature concerning CoMiSS values for infants older than 6 months. This cross-sectional study
aimed to determine CoMiSS values in presumed healthy infants who have completed 6 months and are up to 12 months
old, hereafter referred to as 6 to 12 months old. Physicians from six European countries prospectively determined CoMiSS
values in infants attending well-child clinics. Exclusion criteria included preterm delivery, acute or chronic disease, and the
consumption of a therapeutic formula, dietary supplements (except vitamins), or medication. The following information was
collected: gestational age, gender, age, type of feed (breast milk or infant formula), and complementary feeding. Descriptive
statistics were summarized with mean and standard deviation for normally distributed continuous variables, median and IQR
for non-normally distributed variables, and differences in CoMiSS values were analyzed with appropriate tests. Data from
609 infants were obtained. The overall median (Q1–Q3) CoMiSS values were 3 (1–5). Significant differences were found
across age groups (p < 0.001), but not across groups based on gender (p = 0.551) or feeding type (p = 0.880).Medicin
The therapeutic relationship from the perspective of patients and nurses in the first days of admission: A cross-sectional study in acute mental health units
The therapeutic relationship (TR) is essential in mental health nursing care and
plays a fundamental role in the understanding and treatment of the patient's health
status. Despite being a bidirectional construct, limited evidence is available to shed
light on this issue in mental health units and even less so in the first days of admission.
This study aimed to examine the association and differences between nurses' and
patients' perspectives on the establishment of the therapeutic relationship in acute
mental health units during the first days of hospitalization. A cross-sectional study
was carried out in 12 Spanish mental health units. Data were collected from patients
and nurses using the Working Alliance Inventory-Short (WAI-S) questionnaire. A
total of 234 cases were analysed, including 234 patients and 58 nurses. The results
showed a positive association between nurses' and patients' perspectives on the
therapeutic relationship, but also revealed significant differences on each WAI-S
dimension. Nurses assigned higher scores compared to patients on the perception
of the quality of the therapeutic relationship. The dimensions with the greatest
weight from the patients' perspective regarding the quality of the therapeutic
relationship were the perception of greater agreement on goals and tasks among nurses. This study demonstrates the importance of establishing shared goals and
tasks with nurses from the first days of hospitalization to improve the quality of
the therapeutic relationship as perceived by patients. These findings underline
the need to consider the different perspectives of both parties to promote a high-quality therapeutic relationship.Enfermerí
Influence of sports habits on adolescent sleep knowledge, quality and hygiene
Sports habits are essential for the sleep of the adolescent in the high school. This study analyses the influence of sports practice on three variables: sleep knowledge, sleep quality and sleep hygiene. The 145 adolescents (M = 16.72; SD = 0.74) in the sample reported low sleep knowledge (SBS = 12.04), poor sleep quality (AYA-PSQI-S = 8.36) and improvable sleep hygiene (ASHSr = 4.26). However, 83.6% of physically active students showed higher total scores on all three variables, assuming significant differences (p < 0.05) in sleep duration and sleep efficiency compared to sedentary students. Moreover, exercise prevents poor sleep quality and enhance sleep hygiene. On the other hand, high intensity of physical activity correlates with better performance in the sleep duration dimension and a higher self-concept, considering that late practice hours are negatively related to dinner time, delaying rest. The sporting habit has a positive influence on the sleep knowledge, quality and hygiene of adolescents, betting on strength exercise, at submaximal intensities and as far as possible away from bedtime.
Translation of the holy relics in Portugal and Brazil: a long-lasting phenomenon
importantes no fortalecimento deste culto, peregrinações, performances, rituais
e símbolos corroboram para a emotividade deste movimento. Neste artigo
The possession of relics can symbolically project a territory as
sacred, protected by God and his saints, through something tactile, visible,
concrete, a spirituality that passes through the materiality and divine protective
manifestation of a region and special people, considered separate and chosen.
Faced with the possibility of remembering the Holy Land (and transposing
its relics), the medieval Christian West recreated and readapted in its territory
locations that would be recognized as sublime spaces, depositing special traces
there, which could guarantee the exceptionality of the places. A long-lasting
phenomenon, the transfer of bodies and objects has permeated the history of the
Christian religion, since its beginnings. The promotion of cities and sanctuaries,
guaranteed by the presence of the tactile divine, produced and solidified the
cult of relics. The transfer of sacred remains constitutes important moments in
the strengthening of this cult, pilgrimages, performances, rituals and symbols
corroborate the emotionality of this movement. In this article we intend to
discuss the transfer of holy relics as a long-lasting phenomenon, taking as a
case study the solemn receipt of the Holy Relics, which were translated from
the See of Coimbra to the Real Mosteyro of Santa Cruz and the trajectory of
Saint Dulce dos Pobres, the first woman born in Brazil to be canonized by the
Catholic Church, whose bodily remains were deposited in the Chapel of Relics,
built for this purpose. This set of common memories is an identity factor, the
product of a forged, constructed and gradually established traditionHumanidade
White/ Godiva, I unpeel’: destructive jouissance in Sylvia Plath’s ‘Ariel’
In this essay I offer a reading of Sylvia Plath’s ‘Ariel’in terms of how it subverts signification through the instability of the ‘I’persona. Taking the notion of jouissance (as a destructive excess beyond language), I explore how ‘Ariel’and other poems written in October 1962 begin to unravel the signifying network and, thus, the critic him/herself is faced with a profoundly difficult task in understanding them. Rather than trying to do so, I outline how, by replacing a focus on signification (the stable transmission of meaning) with the process of the text (its use of phonology, repetition and syntactic fragmentation) the critic can maintain the poems’ crucial ambiguity. They do not mean, therefore, in the usual sense of the word; rather, they mean only in an ambiguous, unstable and shifting manner, one that evades the critical desire to impose a certainty of interpretation upon them.Humanidade
Changing the Script of “Human Is”: Re-visioning the Good (Hu)Man in Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams
This chapter discusses the anthology series, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams (2017), which comprises ten inventive adaptations of the renowned author’s short stories from the 1950s. More specifically, the chapter argues that, as a television production, the episode “Human Is” literally makes visible Dick’s interrogation of what constitutes the good (hu)man. Scripted by Jessica Mecklenburg and directed by Francesca Gregorini, their depiction of Silas Herrick (Bryan Cranston) as a man who undergoes a profound bodily and psychological crisis remains highly apposite to current conceptions of (de)toxified masculinity. Using science fiction’s capacity for cognitive estrangement, “Human Is” illustrates how television is an important popular medium through which to re-vision our understanding of positive masculinities in the third millennium.Humanidade
