by a variety of local and systemic factors. This report describes a case of multiple and severe apical
root resorptions in a patient with Turner syndrome. The condition was discovered in a young female
with Turner syndrome after 30 months of orthodontic treatment with fixed appliance. The purpose
of this report is to present reports by other authors on the potential causes of the increased risk of
tooth resorption in patients with Turner syndrome and to share insights derived from its course,
highlighting the implications and lessons learned. Patients with Turner syndrome are not ideal
candidates for orthodontic treatment. Prior to commencing orthodontic treatment, it is essential
to carefully consider the potential benefits of the therapy compared to the risk associated with
exacerbating root resorption. In the case of Turner syndrome patients, where there is an elevated risk
of such complications, a thorough analysis should be conducted to determine whether the expected
benefits of the treatment outweigh the potential hazards to the patient’s dental health.
Clive Staples Lewis (1998-1963), writer, professor and literary critic, put forward in his 1961 essay An Experiment in Criticism a proposal for literary criticism that was novel at the time. In order to understand it, this work, which employs a qualitative and comparative methodology, with a descriptive approach focused on content, reviews and analyses his biography, his literary tastes, his writings and the evolution of his thought. From his childhood Lewis felt a "longing" to transcend phenomenal reality in order to reach the truth of things through art and spirituality. Hence, he considers fundamental the concept of imagination as an aesthetic but also a cognitive faculty which, through its connection with reason, allows access both to the aesthetic enjoyment of works of art and to their message. He argues that in the act of reading, the author, the text and the reader converge and puts forward the concept of "Literature as Logos". The author, inspired by the Logos, knowledge common to all humanity, transmits in the work a seed which, if the soil is propitious, will germinate in the spirit of the reader, giving rise to a generative process analogous to that which takes place in the physical nature of things. This was an innovative approach to literary criticism in its time and opened the way for subsequent literary criticism.
Modernity and Ars Vivendi: a reinterpretation of the origins of modern thought
In that sense, a revolution would have taken place, starting from the Renaissance onwards, leaving behind the knowledge of Antiquity. This seems evident in the case of the conception of philosophical thought as ars vivendi, which supposedly sank into oblivion until practically our own days. However, by examining the works of authors such as Michel de Montaigne and René Descartes, it is possible to find a proposal for philosophy as a distinctly modern way of life. In the first case, Montaigne may appear as a mere heir to Greek and Roman thinkers, but his vital philosophy clearly departs from the art of living in Antiquity. In the latter case, perhaps the clearest example of a philosopher supposedly uninterested in moral questions, we also find a novel proposal of ars vivendi, where knowledge and self-care remain as relevant as in the classics, although expressed in a different mannerMinisterio de Ciencia e Innovación «Éticas y metafísica de los afectos: las génesis modernas» (PID 2021 12612333NB-100) Grupo de investigación «Historia conceptual y crítica de la Modernidad» (GIUV2013-037)Filosofí

Aortic thrombosis and acute kidney injury due to atherosclerosis in a dog
OBJECTIVE
Atherosclerosis is a chronic lipid-driven inflammatory disease of the arterial wall. Due to its cardiovascular ischemic
complications, it is one of the most common causes of death in people. However, atherosclerosis is seldomly reported in dogs.
ANIMAL
A 10-year-old male mixed-breed dog.
CLINICAL PRESENTATION, PROGRESSION, AND PROCEDURES
Severe acute kidney injury associated with thrombosis of the abdominal aorta.
TREATMENT AND OUTCOME
Treatment included renal replacement therapy, antithrombotic therapy, and supportive care. However, the dog developed neurological and respiratory complications and was euthanized due to worsening kidney function and lack
of improvement of the thrombosis. Postmortem examination confirmed the presence of aortic thromboembolism
and renal infarcts. Histology revealed severe chronic-active atherosclerosis of the distal aorta and renal arteries.
CLINICAL RELEVANCE
Aortic thrombosis is uncommon in dogs, and it is often associated with underlying conditions such as protein-losing
nephropathy, endocrine disorders, cardiac disease, or hypercoagulability. In this case, no specific underlying cause
was identified and atherosclerosis was considered the primary cause of the thrombosis.Veterinari

Nanomaterials can be designed for immune system manipulation, with precise targeted delivery and improved immunomodulatory efficacy. Here, we elaborate on various strategies using nanomaterials, including liposomes, polymers, and inorganic NPs, and discuss their detailed design intricacies, mechanisms, and applications, including the current regulatory issues. This type of nanomaterial design for targeting specific immune cells or tissues and controlling release kinetics could push current technological frontiers and provide new and innovative solutions for immune-related disorders and diseases without off-target effects. These materials enable targeted interactions with immune cells, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of checkpoint inhibitors, cancer vaccines, and adoptive cell therapies. Moreover, they allow for fine-tuning of immune responses while minimizing side effects. At the intersection of nanotechnology and immunology, nanomaterial-based platforms have immense potential to revolutionize patient-centered immunotherapy and reshape disease management. By prioritizing safety, customization, and compliance with regulatory standards, these systems can make significant contributions to precision medicine, thereby significantly impacting the healthcare landscape.Biotecnologí

Cadaveric study of the ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block over the transverse process of the twelfth thoracic vertebra in dogs: Transversal vs longitudinal approach
This study describes a transversal (TV) ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane (ESP) block technique over the
transverse process of T12. And evaluates the distribution of the dye and affected nerves branches compared to a
longitudinal (LNG) approach over the transverse process of T12 in canine cadavers. Secondly, it also compares de
anatomy and dimensions of the transverse processes of T12 with T9 and T5. For this double-masked, cadaveric
experimental study, 12 adult Beagle cadavers were injected with 0.6 mL/kg of dye/contrast. Spread was eval-
uated by computed tomography (CT) and dissection.
Mean bodyweight was 9.76 (±0.59) kg. The TV and LNG approaches stained a median (range) of four (2–6)
and three (1–6) medial branches of the dorsal rami of the spinal nerves, three (2–6) and three (2–5) lateral
branches, and one (0 3) and one (0 4) ventral branches, respectively. Dye was detected in the epidural space in
55.6% and 66.7% of cases for the TV and LNG approaches, respectively (P=0.63). And in the ventral para-
vertebral compartment in 22.2% and lymphatics in 88.8% in both approaches. There were no statistical dif-
ferences for the spread. The dorsolateral edge of the transverse process (TP) was not visible with CT at T12. The
mean (±SD) length of the TP was significantly shorter at T12 [3.34 (±0.22)] mm, compared to T9 [6.08 (±0.47)]
mm and T5 [5.93 (±0.62)] mm (P <0.001). This study showed similar distribution whether using a TV or LNG
approach and differences in the anatomy and length of the T12 TP.Veterinari
