    The effect of a training program on adolescents' stress levels and healthy lifestyle behaviors during the Covid-19 pandemic: A randomized controlled study

    TopicAdolescence is the period when people adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors and turn them into habits. Healthy lifestyle behaviors are a significant step toward a long and healthy life.PurposeThis study investigated the effect of a training program on adolescents' stress levels and healthy lifestyle behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic.MethodsThis randomized controlled study was conducted between May and July 2021. The sample consisted of 100 adolescents living in a city in the south of Turkey. Participants were randomized into intervention and control groups using block randomization. The intervention group participated in an online (Zoom) training program consisting of two 45 min sessions once a week for 8 weeks. Data were collected using the adolescent stress questionnaire (ASQ) and the adolescent lifestyle profile (ALP).ResultsThe results showed that 73% (n: 73) of the participants had developed hygiene habits since the onset of the pandemic. However, the pandemic negatively affected participants' dietary habits (45%, n: 45), physical activity (70%, n: 70), coping mechanisms (68%, n: 68), sleep patterns (54%, n: 54), Internet/social media/video game addiction (64%, n: 64), and interpersonal relationships (57%, n: 57). The intervention group had a lower mean ASQ posttest score and a higher mean ALP posttest score than the control group. The intervention group had a lower mean ASQ posttest score than their pretest score. The intervention group also had a higher mean ALP posttest score than their pretest score.Conclusions/Implications for PracticeThe training program helped adolescents feel less stress and adopt more healthy lifestyle behaviors. Pediatric nurses should identify risk factors and design and implement appropriate plans to help adolescents go through future pandemics with as little damage as possible. Parents and educators should support adolescents against the adverse impacts of events such as the COVID 19 pandemic

    A comparison of CO2 emissions, load capacity factor, and ecological footprint for Thailand's environmental sustainability

    This study analyzes the determinants of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, ecological footprint, and load capacity factor for the first time by applying the Fourier quantile causality test to data for the period 1975q1-2018q4 for Thailand. In this context, the study investigates the validity of the pollution haven hypothesis (PHH) by comprehensively examining the effects of foreign direct investment, renewable energy, import, export, natural resources rent, and income on environmental quality. The findings of the study show that the validity of the PHH varies depending on the environmental indicators, because while the PHH is valid for the CO2 and the load capacity factor, it is not valid for the ecological footprint. Moreover, renewable energy is the only element that can increase the environmental quality. All other variables have a negative effect on the load capacity factor, which worsens the environmental quality. The results of the study suggest that the Thai government should take measures to regulate natural resources rent and foreign capital inflows by considering environmental concerns and promoting renewable resources

    Bu çalışma, Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören turizm sektöründeki 12 şirketin 2023 yılı finansal performanslarını objektif bir şekilde değerlendirmek amacıyla TOPSIS ve VIKOR yöntemlerini kullanarak detaylı bir analiz sunmaktadır. Araştırma, şirketlerin likidite, kârlılık ve verimlilik gibi temel finansal göstergeler üzerinden yapılan değerlendirmeler neticesinde elde edilen bulguları içermektedir. TOPSIS yöntemiyle yapılan analizde, Büyük Şefler Gıda'nın turizm sektöründe en iyi finansal performansa sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuç, şirketin genel olarak en iyi maliyet etkinliği ve en yüksek gelir artışını sağladığını göstermektedir. Diğer yandan, Petrokent Turizm en düşük performansı gösteren şirket olarak belirlenmiştir, bu da şirketin mali tablolarının diğerleriyle kıyaslandığında zayıf olduğuna işaret etmektedir. VIKOR yöntemiyle yapılan değerlendirmede ise, Flap Kongre ve Altınyunus Çeşme'nin öne çıktığı ve sektördeki diğer şirketlere göre daha rekabetçi bir finansal performans sergilediği görülmüştür. Öte yandan, Petrokent Turizm'in yine en düşük performansı sergilediği tespit edilmiştir. Bu analizler, yatırımcılara turizm sektöründeki şirketler arasında daha bilinçli yatırım kararları alabilmeleri için önemli bir yol göstericidir. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışma turizm sektöründeki şirketlerin finansal sağlığını derinlemesine analiz etmekte ve yatırımcılara rehberlik etmek amacıyla önemli bir katkı sunmaktadır. Gelecekte yapılacak araştırmalar, farklı yöntemlerin ve kriterlerin entegrasyonuyla daha kapsamlı ve detaylı analizlerin yapılmasına olanak tanıyabilir, bu da finansal piyasalar üzerindeki bilgi birikimini artırabilir ve daha sağlam yatırım kararları alınmasını sağlayabilir

    Analysis of X users' opinions about political parties during the 2023 general elections period using text mining

    Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye'deki siyasi partilere yönelik kamuoyu duyarlılık düzeylerinin sosyal medya paylaşımlarına dayalı olarak metin madenciliği yöntemlerinden olan duygu analizi yöntemi ile ölçülmesidir. Bu bağlamda, X aracılığıyla paylaşılan tweetlerden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışma, teori ve uygulama olmak üzere iki kısımdan oluşmaktadır. Teori kısmında, literatür taramaları yapılmış olup sosyal medya analizi, veri madenciliği, metin madenciliği ve duygu analizi kavramları ele alınmıştır. Araştırmada, 2023 Türkiye genel seçimleri kapsamında en çok konuşulan beş siyasi parti belirlenmiştir. Bu partiler için X üzerinden beş siyasi parti hakkında 60.000'den fazla tweet toplanmış bunların içerisinden her parti için 250 tane olmak üzere 1250 tane tweet seçilmiştir. Veriler, manuel olarak temizlenmiş ve duygu analizi yapılmak üzere pozitif, nötr ve negatif olarak etiketlenmiştir. Yapılan analiz sonucunda, her iki algoritmanın da duygu analizinde benzer doğruluk oranlarına sahip olduğu ancak bazı durumlarda belirgin farklar ortaya çıktığı gözlemlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, Türkiye'deki siyasi partilere yönelik tweetlerdeki duygu dağılımının her parti ve duygu kategorisine göre değişiklik göstermiştir. Bu tez, sosyal medya ve siyaset alanında yapılacak gelecekteki çalışmalar için önemli bir referans niteliği taşımakta olup, araştırmacılara siyasi partilerle ilgili sosyal medya analizlerinde rehberlik edebilecek veriler sunmaktadır.This study aims to measure the level of public sentiment towards political parties in Turkey based on social media posts using sentiment analysis, one of the text mining methods. In this context, tweets shared through X were used. The study consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, literature reviews were conducted and the concepts of social media analysis, data mining, text mining and sentiment analysis were discussed. The research identified the five most debated political parties in the context of the 2023 general elections in Turkey. For these parties, more than seventy thousand tweets about five political parties on X were collected and 1250 of them, 250 for each party, were selected. The data was manually cleaned and labeled as positive, neutral and negative for sentiment analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that both algorithms had similar accuracy rates in sentiment analysis, but in some cases, there were significant differences. As a result, the distribution of sentiment in tweets about political parties in Turkey varied by party and sentiment category. This paper is an important reference for future studies in the field of social media and politics and provides data that can guide researchers in the social media analysis of political parties

    İslâmî literatürde İslâm öncesi dönemde uygulanagelen ve İslâmî dönemde “İslâmîleştirilerek” devam ettirilen bazı dinî uygulamaların tarihî dayanağına dair birbiriyle çelişkili rivâyetler nakledilmektedir. Hac ibadetinin bir parçası olan remy-i cimâr (şeytan taşlama) bu sınıfa dâhil edilebilecek uygulamalardandır. Kaynaklarda şeytan taşlamanın Hz. İbrahim, Hz. İsmail, Hz. Âdem ve Hz. Muhammed’e dayandığı yönünde rivâyetler mevcuttur. Şeytan taşlama hakkında dört farklı peygamberin tarihî kişiliğiyle kurulan ilişki ilgili uygulamanın dayandığı temelin ve uygulanma maksadının anlaşılmasını güçleştirmektedir. Bu çalışmada şeytan taşlama rivâyetlerinin tarihî dayanağına dair bilgi veren rivâyetler Bütünsel Yaklaşım metoduna göre tetkik edilmiştir. Yapılan incelemede şeytan taşlama uygulamasının Hz. İbrahim dışındaki peygamberlere isnat edildiği rivâyetlerin teyit edilemeyecek durumda olduğu görülmüştür. Şeytan taşlamanın Hz. İbrahim’le ilişkilendirildiği rivâyetlerin de sened bakımından Hz. Muhammed’e refʿ edilebilecek nitelikte olmadığı ve tek bir rivâyetin farklı formlarda nakledilmiş formları olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu rivâyetlerde Hz. İbrahim’e izafe edilen Eylem İfadeleri’yle Hz. Muhammed’in Vedâʿ Haccı’nda şeytan taşlama esnasında yaptığı Eylem İfadeleri’nin ise ciddi benzerlikler ihtiva ettiği görülmüştür. Buradan hareketle şeytan taşlamanın tarihî dayanağına dair bilgi veren rivâyetlerin Hz. Muhammed’in Vedâʿ Haccı’ndaki eylemlerinin Hz. İbrahim’e nispet edilerek aktarılması sonucu ortaya çıktığı neticesine ulaşılmıştır

    Determination of ecological statuses of streams in the Ceyhan River Basin using composition and ecological characteristics of diatoms

    The present study aimed to evaluate the interactions between diatoms and ecological factors in various streams and to test the suitability of diatom indices to evaluate the ecological status of 44 streams in the Ceyhan River Basin during the spring and autumn periods of 2021 and the summer of 2022. Canonical correspondence analysis indicated the significant effects of electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand (BOD5), total phosphorus (TP), and total nitrogen (TN) on the distribution of diatom species of streams in the Ceyhan River Basin. Of the streams, Aksu and Erkenez streams were associated with high EC, BOD5, and TP and characterized by pollution-tolerant species. Pollution-sensitive species showed close integration with Aksu Spring Brook, Gözpınar Creek, Göksun Creek, and Yeşilgöz Spring Brook, which related to a high dissolved oxygen gradient. Different eco-regional diatom indices displayed different scores, representing from bad to high ecological status in the Ceyhan River basin. Among the diatom indices, Trophic Index Turkey (TIT) proved to be the more suitable metric to assess the ecological status of streams. TIT indicated deterioration of water quality in Karasu (S06), Erkenez (S07) streams, and downstream areas of the Ceyhan River and the least distributed sampling stations in the basin. Results suggested that eco-regionally developed diatom indices, like TIT, are required to more accurately assess the ecological status of streams in the Mediterranean region. The study provides a fundamental assessment of the ecological status of streams in the Ceyhan River Basin using an appropriate diatom index before the Pazarcık-centered earthquake on February 6, 2023. Reactive power, which encompasses the power consumed and produced by the inductive and capacitive elements of a power system, is crucial for maintaining stable and secure grid operation as well as for minimising power losses and enhancing voltage profiles. Reactive power forecasting (RPF) is a critical aspect of power forecasting, especially in the context of ensuring the stability and reliability of the power grid. The application of machine learning (ML) algorithms in RPF provides benefits such as enhanced forecast precision, the capacity to address challenges related to renewable energy integration, maintaining efficient energy resource management, and ultimately improving the consistency of the power grid. This paper delves into the research and implementation of real-time very short-term RPF by employing long short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU) networks, and extreme gradient boosted decision trees (XGBoost) in a large hospital complex situated in Adana, Turkiye. Consequently, utilised algorithms have been compared in terms of coefficient of determination (R-2), mean absolute error (MAE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), and mean absolute scaled error (MASE).     Green synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles by Myrtus communis plant extract with investigation of effect of precursor, calcination temperature and study of photocatalytic performance

    An elegant approach was made for the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles by Myrtus Communis plant extract using two different precursors at variable temperatures (400,600, and 800 degrees C). The properties of nanoparticles were investigated with PXRD, SEM-EDX, PL, FTIR, and UV-Vis spectrometer. PXRD results inferred that all samples have pure wurtzite phase confirming with JCPDS card No. 36-1451. The UV-Vis spectroscopy exhibited that all estimated bandgaps are a little less than those for bulk ZnO. It was confirmed by EDX spectra that Zn and O atoms are the main compositions of the material. FESEM images displayed hexagonal-like shapes of nanoparticles for all samples prepared with acetate. Hexagonal morphology was observed in the samples having green emission at room temperature PL measurements. It was seen that methylene blue degraded about 90 % after about 20 min of irradiation of UV light for samples calcined at 400 degrees C. It was also observed that the samples calcined at 400 degrees C degraded methylene blue by approximately 99 %.     Cross section calculations for deuteron induced reactions of 10,11B and 12C nuclei

    In this work, the excitation functions of B-10(d,n)C-11, B-11(d,n)C-12, B-11(d,2n)C-11, B-11(d,p)B-12, C-12(d,n)N-13, C-12(d,t)C-11 and C-12(d,alpha)B-10 reactions were considered by theoretical models available in EMPIRE 3.2.3, TALYS 1.95 and ALICE/ASH codes from threshold up to 30 MeV energy. Nuclear model calculations were performed using different input parameters for the equilibrium and pre-equilibrium reaction processes. Various nuclear models were used to analyze the contribution of the PCROSS mean free path value, initial exciton number and level density models on excitation functions.     Investigation of physical and magnetic properties of chrome added CuFeO2 material synthesized by sol-gel method

    Bu çalışmada, antiferromanyetik madde olarak bilinen ve spintronik teknolojide uygulama alanına sahip CuFeO2 ve onun Cr ikameli türevleri (CuFe1-xCrxO2) (x = 0.0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2) sol-jel metoduyla sentezlenerek, elektronik ve manyetik özellikleri incelenmiştir. CuFeO2 malzemesinde demir atomlarının yerine belli oranlarda Cr ikame edilerek oksijen atomlarının kontrolü sağlanıp sentezlenen numunelerin elektronik ve manyetik özellikleri araştırılmıştır. Numunelerin yapısal karakterizasyonu X-ışını teknikleri (XRD ve XAFS) ve taramalı elektron mikroskobu (SEM) ölçümleri kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Manyetik özellikleri M-T, M-H ölçümleri ve AC alınganlık ölçümleri ile belirlenmiştir. CuFeO2'nin kristal ve elektronik özellikleri oda sıcaklığında sinkrotron XRD ve XAFS kullanılarak araştırılırken, manyetik davranış ise 10 ila 300 K uygulamalı alanlar altında incelenmiştir. Krom ikamesinin zorlayıcılığı ve kalıcılığı azalttığı ancak daha yüksek krom konsantrasyonlarında doygunluk mıknatıslanmasını arttırdığı gözlenmiştir.In this study, CuFeO2 and its Cr substituted derivatives (CuFe1-xCrxO2) (x = 0.0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2), known as antiferromagnetic material and having application area in spintronic technology, were synthesized by sol-gel method and their electronic and magnetic properties were investigated. Electronic and magnetic properties of the synthesized samples were investigated by substituting Cr in certain ratios instead of iron atoms in CuFeO2 material and controlling oxygen atoms. Structural characterization of the samples was carried out using X-ray techniques (XRD and XAFS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) measurements. Magnetic properties were determined by M-T, M-H measurements and AC susceptibility measurements. Crystal and electronic properties of CuFeO2 were investigated by using synchrotron XRD and XAFS at room temperature, while magnetic behavior was investigated under applied fields between 10 and 300 K. It was observed that chromium substitution decreased coercivity and retentivity but increased saturation magnetization at higher chromium concentrations
