What is Hecuba to [me]?: The Impossibility of Catharsis and Rupture of Representation in Marina Carr's Hecuba
Marina Carr's Hecuba (2015), an adaptation of Euripides's tragedy Hecuba (424 BC), resonates with Hamlet's famous line What is Hecuba to him, or he to her? (Shakespeare, 1599/2003, 2.2.511) for the contemporary spectator by arousing pain and guilt instead of a cathartic effect. In the adaptation, Carr portrays a different presentation of the Queen of Troy from her representations in several classical texts. Contrary to the classical picture of a vengeful mad queen, she retells the untold story of the tragic queen and reveals Hecuba's sorrow, pain, love for her children, and the vulnerability of a woman who is surviving a war. In Hecuba, Carr manages to build an ethical encounter between Hecuba and both Agamemnon and the spectator. In doing so, she breaks the representation by applying experimental theatrical devices that disturb the spectator in their comfort zone and subvert the cathartic effect. The play leaves the spectator with the burden of heavy pain and responsibility for the Other. In this respect, this article discusses the impossibility of the purgation of feeling in contemporary theatre through a Levinasian ethical approach in relation to the Other in Marina Carr's Hecub

A preparation of niobium diboride (NbB2) via molten salt method: Impact of boron concentration on the structural and electrochemical performance
In this work, niobium diboride (NbB2) 2 ) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using a simple and facile molten salt method and examined as electrodes for supercapacitors. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using SEM, HRTEM, XRD, XPS, and BET techniques. Also, the electrochemical performance of various NbB2 2 nanoparticles depending on the various amorphous boron concentrations was systematically investigated using both a neutral (1 M Na2SO4) 2 SO 4 ) and a basic (6 M KOH) electrolyte. Electrochemical analysis revealed that the obtained sample denoted as the NbB2-8 2 - 8 exhibited the best electrochemical performance (159.6 F/g at 10 mV/s) in Na2SO4 2 SO 4 electrolyte compared to that of the KOH electrolyte (69.6 F/g at 10 mV/s). Such a result can be owing to the size and mobility of ions in the electrolyte. Overall, this work could pave the way for other metal borides' versatility and potential in energy storage.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey TUBITAK [BIDEB 2247-D, 121C217]This study was funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey TUBITAK (BIDEB 2247-D) under the project number 121C217
Analysis of the efficiency of the Turkish banking sector within the scope of regulations the banking sector: The example of deposit banks
The banking sector, unlike other sectors, is directly connected to all economies and is in constant interaction, so even the slightest negativity or performance decline in this sector has significant effects on the economic system. The critical importance of the banking sector causes it to be accepted as one of the main actors of the economy. The need to create an environment of trust in the banking sector, the intermediary role assumed by the sector, the sector reflecting the economy in general, the importance of establishing competition, the risk of market failures causing major losses and the need to prevent this, the sensitivity of the sector to crises and the continuous change and development of the structure of the sector lead to the need for regulation in the banking sector. The effect of the regulations on the efficiency level of banks operating in the sector is an important issue. Therefore, this study analyzes the effect of the regulations implemented in the Turkish banking sector on the efficiency levels of banks. For this purpose, the Malmquist Total Factor Productivity Change Index is used to analyze the effect of the regulations implemented in the banking sector on the efficiency of 18 deposit banks operating continuously in the relevant period during the 1998-2023 period. As a result of the analysis, it is concluded that all implemented regulations increase the total factor productivity values of banks thanks to the improvement reflected in the technological efficiency values, and that the current regulations are not sufficient to increase the managerial and scale efficiency levels
Examining the Attitudes of Hypertension Patients Toward Using Complementary Treatments
The present study was conducted in a cross-sectional and descriptive design to examine the attitudes of hypertension patients toward using complementary treatments. The study was conducted with 173 patients who had the diagnosis of hypertension who applied to the Cardiology Clinics of a University Health Practice and Research Hospital between 15.12.2021 and 10.03.2022. Before starting the study, permission was obtained from the ethics committee, institution, and patients. The data of the study were collected through face-to-face interviews, a questionnaire, and the Attitude Scale Toward Using Complementary Treatments (ASUCT). The score to be obtained from the scale varies between 0 and 39 and a high score indicates a positive attitude toward complementary treatments. One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to evaluate the homogeneity of the data. The Student t, Mann-Whitney U test, correlation, and ANOVA tests were also used to evaluate the data, and P < .05 was considered statistically significant. It was found that 55.0% of the patients were women, 31.2% were between the ages of 44 to 56, 63.0% had other chronic diseases, and 68.2% preferred herbal applications in the management of hypertension. It was also found that the mean ASUCT score of hypertensive individuals was 21.13 +/- 2.99, and there was a statistically significant relationship between the mean ASUCT score of the patients and their gender, education level, and reasons for applying to herbal therapy (P < .05). Patients frequently preferred the consumption of pomegranate syrup (43.4%), garlic (36.4%), and quince leaf tea (30.8%) as non-drug applications in the management of hypertension. It was found that the attitudes of the hypertension patients toward using complementary treatments were at a moderate level and there was a relationship between their level of attitude toward using complementary treatments and gender, education, and the reasons for applying herbal therapy. In this respect, it is recommended to evaluate the attitudes of hypertension patients toward using complementary treatments, to learn the practices they prefer for disease management through patient-health care professional interaction, and to support patients for hypertension management

Non-linear seismic behavior of historic Adana Great Clock Tower
In this study, the non-linear seismic behavior of the historic Adana Great Clock Tower was investigated. The dynamic characteristics (natural frequencies and mode shapes) of the Clock Tower were determined by operational vibration tests. The finite element model of the Clock Tower was manually updated in the light of the experimentally obtained dynamic characteristics. For the updated finite element model, pushover analyses and non-linear time history analyses were performed. Incremental pushover analyses were performed in the x and y directions proportional to the first lateral displacement modes of the Clock Tower in the x and y directions. The time history analyses took into account the Adana-Ceyhan (1998) earthquake acceleration records. Each of the two horizontal components of the earthquake acceleration records was separately scaled according to the design spectrum defined in TBEC-2018 for earthquake levels with a 10 % and 50 % probability of exceedance in 50 years. These scaled earthquake acceleration records were applied to the structure. The two scaled horizontal components for the same earthquake level were rotated 90 degrees and reapplied to the structure. As the response quantities, displacement, base shear force and plastic strains were evaluated.Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of Fimath;rat University [MF.19.13-ADEP.23.13]This paper is partially supported by Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of F & imath;rat University [MF.19.13-ADEP.23.13]
