Investigation of sea current velocity and power potential in the North Aegean sea
This study aims to assess the marine hydrodynamics and the potential power of sea currents by simulating the probability distribution functions of the sea current velocity values. For this aim, hourly sea current velocity and direction data measured from the & Ccedil;anakkale (Turkey) measurement station in the North Aegean Sea were used. These data were measured during two separate periods: January 1 - March 24, 2017, and March 25 - December 31, 2019. First, the vertical structure of the sea currents up to 50 m depth was determined. Then, frequency distributions of hourly sea current velocities were modeled by using the Weibull, Rayleigh, and Exponential probability density functions. According to the results obtained at 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 m depths below the sea surface level, the annual sea current velocity was 28.8 +/- 0.395, 26.1 +/- 0.388, 19.4 +/- 0.339, 16.1 +/- 0.324, 17.5 +/- 0.344, and 24.7 +/- 0.622 cm/s, respectively, in this sea. Furthermore, the annual sea current power potential was calculated as 30.0, 25.4, 15.0, 12.2, 15.0, and 88.2 W/m2 for 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 m depths, respectively. The results demonstrated that the Weibull distribution model was the best fit for the sea current velocity in this sea
The effects of popularity perceptions and social appearance anxiety on the desire of young people to have aesthetic procedures on social media
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of young people's popularity perceptions and social appearance concerns on their perceptions of aesthetic procedures on social media. This cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2023 and January 2024. A Personal Information Form, the Popularity Perception Scale (PPS), the Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS), and the Scale of Aesthetic Procedure Perceptions on Social Media (SAPPS) were used to collect data. Statistically significant differences were found in the popularity perceptions, social appearance anxiety levels, and aesthetic procedure perceptions of the participants based on their age, their status of having a disliked bodily/facial feature, whether they thought of undergoing aesthetic procedures, whether they used filters on social media, whether they used image manipulation programs, and their frequency of using social media platforms each day. The PPS scores of the participants had weak, positive, and significant correlations with their SAAS scores and their total and subscale scores on SAPPS. The frequency of their usage of image manipulation programs was found to predict the popularity perceptions of the participants and their perceptions of aesthetic procedures on social media. It was determined that nursing students had above-average levels of positive popularity perceptions, social appearance anxiety, and positive perceptions of aesthetic procedures on social media, and these three variables were significantly associated with each other. This research may lead to informing young people about the aforementioned factors with the views and support of young nurses.Osmaniye Korkut Ata UniversityThe authors have no relevant financial orn on-financial interests to disclose
Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Based Differential Diagnosis of Parotid Gland Tumors Using Deep Learning
Objectives: It is aimed at magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based differential diagnosis of parotid gland tumors (PGTs) using deep learning. Methods: This study included 117 PGTs obtainedfrom 113 patients. T2-w, T1-w, contrast enhanced T1-w, Diffusion Weighted Imaging-b0, Diffusion Weighted Imaging-b2000 (DWI-2000), and apparent diffusion coefficient sequences of these patients were used in the study. We implemented four different classification models, and we categorized the images as benign-malignant, pleomorphic adenoma (PA)-Warthin, Warthin-malignant, and all classes (mucoepidermoid carcinoma-other benign-other malignant-PA-Warthin). We constructed classification for each sequence separately using the ResNet18 architecture, with the dataset split into 80% for training and 20% for validation. Results: The most successful model in this study, achieving an accuracy of 95.37% and an F1-score of 94.74% in classifying malignant-Warthin images in T1-w sequences, also demonstrated the highest accuracy among all models evaluated. For the classification of benign-malignant and the differentiation across all classes, the highest accuracies were achieved with the T2-w sequence at 93.75% and 86.67%, respectively. In the differentiation of PA-Warthin, T1-w and DWI-b0 sequences demonstrated the highest performance, both with an accuracy of 90.36%. Conclusion: The deep networks proposed in the study supported MRI-based differential diagnosis of PGTs with high accuracy, and the user-friendly software classified images with high accuracy in about 10 seconds

The role of workplace happiness and work engagement in the effect of work-life balance on job performance: A study on nurses
The research sample consisted of 531 nurses working in a public hospital located in province Osmaniye of Türkiye. Data were collected using the convenience sampling method and analyzed using SPSS 24 and AMOS 24 software packages. Descriptive statistics, reliability analyses, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques were used. Work-life balance was operationalized through two sub-dimensions: "negative impact of life on work" and "positive impact of work on life". The findings revealed that the negative impact of life on work had a significant and negative effect on both workplace happiness and work engagement, and its effect on work performance was only indirect and negative. In contrast, the positive impact of work on life had a statistically significant and positive effect on workplace happiness. Although its direct effects on work engagement and work performance were not statistically significant, it indirectly contributed positively to work performance through its effects on workplace happiness and work engagement. Furthermore, it was found that workplace happiness had a significant and positive effect on work engagement and work performance, whereas work engagement had a direct and significant positive effect on work performance. Overall, the results suggest that work-life balance does not directly affect work performance but rather exerts an indirect effect through variables such as workplace happiness and work engagement. A study on the Court of accounts reports of three metropolitan municipalities (Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir examples)
The study aims to analyze the Court of Accounts Compliance Audit Reports for the 2019–2023 period for three metropolitan municipalities in Turkey: Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. Court of Accounts audits are an important mechanism for accountability and transparency, demonstrating the effectiveness, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of public resource use. Content analysis was used to assess whether the same errors have been repeated over the years, their sensitivity to audit findings, and whether corrective measures have been taken. The Court of Accounts' findings were categorized, the types of recurring errors were presented in tables, and their relationship to accounting principles was demonstrated. While the findings indicate that in some cases, corrections were made based on the reports, the general trend is that municipalities are repeating the same errors and that audit opinions are not sufficiently heeded. By 2023, the increase in the number and types of errors reveals that the audit culture in local governments has still not been institutionalized. The results indicate that the enforcement power of Court of Accounts reports should be increased, findings other than audit opinions should be considered in decision-making processes, and legislative amendments are necessary. The study contributes to the assessment of local governments' understanding of fiscal discipline and provides a model analysis for other local governments
Multilayered interactions between lepidoptera and fungi: spore dispersal, mycophagy, and entomopathogenic relationships
The order Lepidoptera is an insect group that draws ecological attention not only with plants but also with fungi. In this review, the relationships of Lepidoptera species with fungi in forest ecosystems are discussed in a multifaceted manner within the framework of spore transfer (entomochory), entomopathogenic pressures, symbiotic associations and mycophagic feeding behaviors. In particular, the passive dispersal of fungal spores on the body surfaces of some butterfly and moth species plays an important role in the spread of fungi between habitats. However, entomopathogenic fungi such as Cordyceps, Beauveria and Metarhizium are among the biotic factors that suppress Lepidoptera populations and have potential in terms of biological control applications. In species that exhibit mycophagic behavior, it has been shown that fungi function both as a nutritional source and a microhabitat; this behavior is shaped by physiological, ecological and evolutionary adaptations. The limited amount of existing literature emphasizes the need for experimental, molecular and biogeographical-based studies to understand these interactions in more depth. This study examines Lepidoptera-fungi relationships with a multi-layered approach, revealing knowledge gaps in this field and providing a roadmap for future research

CROSS-COUNTRY EVALUATION OF FINANCIAL REPORTING AND GOVERNANCE PRACTICES THROUGH FUZZY C-MEANS AND TOPSIS ALGORITHMS
In an era of ever-evolving global economic dynamics-and-govemance-frameworks, this study aims to cluster OECD countries based on their similarities in terms of their compliance with Intemational Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and evaluates the performance of the countries in these clusters regarding their adoption of IFRS. For this purpose, 11 indicators as countries adopted IFRS, which essentially measure the quality of governance, were used in Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) algorithms. The FCM algorithm captures the dynamic interrelations among the indicators, allowing for comprehensive modeling of complex systems. The TOPSIS algorithm further facilitates a sophisticated analysis by ranking countries, providing a clear and insightful classification that reflects their proximity to an idealized spectrum of financial and governance excellence. The findings reveal significant insights into the drivers of financial performance and govemance quality
Obtaining new soliton solutions of the fractional generalized perturbed KdV equation
In this study, the fractional generalized perturbed KdV equation ( gpKdV ) with beta derivative is considered. The generalized exponential rational function method ( GERFM ) is applied to this equation for the fi rst time in this study. Thus, dark soliton, bright soliton, singular soliton, mixed soliton, trigonometric function, rational trigonometric function, hyperbolic function and rational exponential function solutions of this fractional equation are obtained for the fi rst time in this study. The 2D, 3D, and density plots, which effectively illustrate the behavior of these solitons, are shown for various values and specific ranges of the solutions
